Gwynnie Bee enjoys a generally favorable reputation among customers who appreciate the variety and quality of clothing, as well as the convenience of a rental model that allows for frequent wardrobe changes without significant financial commitment. Many users highlight the positive impact on their confidence and style exploration. LOVE TO SHOP HERE!
I've been a member of GB over a year, I started with the free trial 3 items at a time and upgraded to end at 10 items out at a time (159$) and I have a free item for life from GB and pay for 2 extra items (15$/mo each) in the beginning of June there was a slower shipping time for maybe a week.
I spoke to my mail carrier and I leave parcels out with a note for her. I take photos of the tracking # for my return items.
It takes 2 days for an item to be returned and they ship to you 3 day priority, though I usually get my shipments in 2 days from GB.
I've been a member long enough to know that if you closet new arrivals quickly and prioritize what you want it works a lot more efficiently. They send an email with weekly wants and as long as you closet what you want you should be covered. I tend to mail back on Saturday that way before the next weekend I get new choices for wearing.
I've never cancelled but I'd assume you should return notify them send back before you cancel.
I was never fond of wearing dresses and I didn't know what worked for me and what didn't. You have to closet a lot of items if you want to keep shipping time down. You have to click the "return notify" option if you want to keep your shipping time down. If they are taking longer, email them and let them know. I personally have never had a problem with shipping. I closeted so many items even items that I didn't think would look good on me. I didn't even think I liked anything they had to offer. But when every time I got a shipment, I would become more familiar with dresses and the like. Not every dress is wear-able for me. I have to send things back due to incorrect size or even because I just don't like the way it looks on me. But that is the point. I get to rent clothes and try them on without the commitment of buying them for keeps... unless I want to, of course. I have nothing bad to say about GB. I have dealt with customer service multiple times and they are great and handled all my issues promptly and correctly. I am going to continue with service because it is awesome. If you don't like dresses then this service isn't for you. GB is not a scam. It is a very good business that I want to stick around for the long run. If you have clothes in your closet that are out of season for you then you need to put those items on hold. You put in your closet, GB is going to assume you want it. So if you don't want summer clothes during winter then put all the summer items on hold until summer rolls around again. It's not that hard.
I love the idea and really want it to work, but it does not seem to be going well. The shipping is terribly slow! I returned an item last Wednesday, and today (Monday) noticed that no items were even scheduled to be shipped to me. I called customer service only to be told they were having problems fulfilling orders. Why am I paying to have multiple items out, if you can't fulfill the order. They gave me a free extra item, how will that work when you can't even fulfill my items. Their response was to add more to my closet, what 35 items is not enough? You can't charge people for a certain number of items when you are not able to provide the service!
I've been with Gwynnie Bee almost 2 years and there have been way more ups than downs. Yes, you have to keep an abundance of item in your closet to get quick shipping.
Yes, you have to get to know the brands and learn your size in each brand so you can order the right size. Brands are not consistent in sizing- that's life.
Overall, the clothes are trendy, professional, and high quality, I never have to pay for dry cleaning, and any issues have been resolved promptly and to my satisfaction.
It works for me and the 4 friends I've referred to the service.
I've been a member for about 4 years now and overall the membership is great. I don't have to deal with going to the post office to return items, just leave it in my mailbox. My only issue right now is with the clothing styles. I don't know if they got a new buyer or what but it is getting harder and harder to find items to add to my "closet."
It sounds like a great idea in theory but in reality the clothing are geared toward older women. Also the sizing is super awkward I got clothing that was super big on me because I didn't understand the sizing well enough. Just got my first package and will be canceling not for me, at all!
It's a great idea... choose from an amazing assortment of clothes and they show up to your door. How cool is that! However, when you open the box, "Pew." I am going to a wedding today and thought I could wear the dress they sent. It completely smells like body oder. Maybe I was the one who was suppose to wash it? Hmmm. I will probably be canceling my membership.
Well, I signed up for the free trial on April 3. Got one item so far. It is now April 16 and it shows the second item is still in transit. The way this is going, I doubt that I will even have the opportunity to try 3 items before my month is up. They say notify them off shipping back yet they still wait to receive it befofore shipping out the next item. I will swe how nick liner the 2nd item takes. If they wait to long to send out the 3rd item my free month will be over. If that happens I will not continue with them.
My husband kept pushing me to try this service as I HATE shopping and have to be business causal for work. I was reluctant as it sounded a little odd... renting clothes other people wore? But I gave it a try and initially wasn't too psyched. The clothes seemed geared towards an older woman than I, and I didn't like that I couldn't choose what came next.
However, after almost a year of subscribing I am likely hooked for life. I absolutely LOVE not having to pick out what I'm wearing each day because there's a new dress waiting for me in my mailbox. I disagree with everyone saying the shipping is slow. I have only had one or two lag periods in my shipping, and generally it is exceptionally fast. I rarely wear my own clothes to work anymore and I love not having to do as much laundry! The service keeps track of everything I've worn so if a brand fits well I can keep adding more of their items. It's great for trying new looks because if you don't like it, you can send it right back. They almost always have my size available and I'm usually at the smaller end of their size chart (14-18). They also add items constantly so I check the New Arrivals every couple of days to add more items.
I mostly use this for work, but some of the dresses are definitely more casual or formal and if I find something I like, I keep it around for a while to wear again. I get compliments on almost every dress I wear and so many people have complimented that I have great style. The clothes are always in good shape and never feel "worn". Yes, one or two items came without a belt but so what? I really can't say enough good about Gwynnie Bee, I'm so glad I gave them a try.
They will bill you even if your "closet" is not full. The most ugliest clothes ever, I signed up, and realized they were not my forte. Later, I noticed a couple of charges for $85.91. Filed a complaint with the BBB, they arrogantly maintained their position with the "terms of service." An existing "terms of service" DOES NOT MEAN IT'S CORRECT OR ETHICAL. This is outright robbery. They have a long complaint history with the BBB. Speak up if they're stealing your money out from under you! Then complain to the Federal Trade Commission, NY District Attorney and the NY State Department of Consumer Protection. Put a stop to their shady billing practices, shut them down!

Update 12/28/2015- To the Gwynnie Bee rep who replied here today, save your cue-card. You guys fought me to the very end of the BBB complaint, and you continue racking up complaints to the BBB, as recent as six days ago. Imagine that!

Even your warehouse personnel can't stand you guys! You treat them like $#*!, and don't pay them enough to handle garments that reek of some random person's rotten funk! The positive reviews are about as phony as your customer service. I can imagine the countless labor violations you've smugly acquired.

So I signed up for this service about two weeks ago. I signed up for the 3 garment a time plan using a free code I found online. It took 5 days to get my first box. I had pretty low expectations about the clothes I revieved, but was actually pleasantly surprised at the quality of garments I received in the first shipment. I sent one of them back right away. That was Tuesday, March 18. There's a feature on the website where you can notify when you will be sending the garment back. They claim that they will t process your order right away. It took another 5 days to get another replacement garment for that one. I liked one dress so much I've ended up keeping it and it was a style that I normally would not have worn. The other two garments I wore once and returned right away however after notifying them, it is been three days and they still are not processing a shipment to me. I understand if shipping takes a while but the processing portion should happen right as soon as you click the button that says you an return the item.
Other than that I also agree with the other users that the selection is somewhat limited. I wear anywhere from size is 10 to 14 in normal non-plus size clothing so therefore the selection is very is extremely limited for me. I have found that some of the 0X sizes have been working.
It's nice to try out styles I normally wouldn't wear, but some of them tend to run older, hot and dark. I live in a very hot city most of their styles are heavy polyester so that doesn't work either.
Increase the speed and variety and I will renew!
Love the concept of gwynnie. Expected it to be more like netflicks. Send in an item get one back in a few days. Shipping is a disaster. Takes forever. If you get an item that you don't like its about 2 weeks to return and get new item. This is very discouraging.
The selection is also not as much as I would like. I don't wear dresses so I am somewhat limited to begin with. Shirts maybe updated once a month with maybe one or two new items. Giving one more month to see if things improve.
I signed up for their service on March 5th since then I have received a total of 8 items ( including the item I purchased), most items I returned the day after trying them on.
I am very thankful for the free month trial, because I have a sort of Ice Cream Cone shape and it is hard for me to find items that compliment my shape without making me looking like a bimbo. All of the items I received were in great shape (looked new), most were decent quality no iron fabrics.
I am planning on keeping the service because it is a great service with fast 2 day shipping, and now that I figured out my size for most of their brands, I am going to love being able to wear lots of clothes without having to buy them all:)
The only thing I would change is.
When you put items in your closet you should be able to pick when the items in your closet are sent to you.
Without explanation, Gwynnie Bee has stopped its regular Tuesday and Thursday release of no garments. When I messaged customer service inquiring, I received no response the first time and a sketchy response the second time. Makes me winder if they are on the way out.
Signed up for GwynnieBee. Added 35 items to my closet. About 5 days later, received notice that I will be getting my first item in 2 days. Got my dress which fit poorly. Sent it back. Cancelled my subscription. I can't fathom spending $39 on 1 item at a time which takes 7 days to receive.
I've been with Gwynnie Bee for a few months. The selection of clothing is ok. Not a lot in my personal style. I have closeted ALL of the dresses in my style taste (rockabilly swing) and have even email requested them and still I'm told "We ship what we have in the warehouse" so to help I sent a list of new dresses carried by there distribution company and no... No additional retro styles and still I'm being sent "date night" dresses. Grrrrr! Why? So I'm releaved this last time to see a retro inspired dress in my closet... But it's been lost in ALASKA for the last WEEK and all I got was "usps messed up the routing" and they gave me an extra dress for a week... Of course that took till day 3 to ship and won't show up till day 8-9. I could drive to the warehouse from my home in New Mexico faster than these outfits are arriving. I'm still wondering... ALASKA? IN FEBRUARY? Who's bright idea was that and why hasn't the company tracked these down? It my job now to find the package? I get inventory from China... Going through Customs... Faster than my Gwynnie Bee boxes. I think if I wore them the same day and sent them back maybe I'd get 2-3 boxes a month... Maybee. Truly considering canceling. Maybe they grew too fast?
While I like having access to the clothing Gwynnie Bee offers, the shipping is way, way too slow. I upgraded to 4 items a month, but it always takes the maximum 3 days for anything new to ship out... then another 3 days to arrive. I find that items are marked as shipped the day before packages are actually mailed. So turn-around to replace clothing is basically a week.
Whenever you write to complain, you get the standard "We have 72 hours to get a package out to you..." and of course they do. But come on... can it ever be faster?
One time I had over 40 things in my "closet" and three items due to ship out. They shipped out 3 of the EXACT same dress, a Triste fit and flare that I had closeted in three different patterns. Really? What woman wants to wear the exact same dress over and over again? When I complained, I got an email telling me that I shouldn't closet the same item if I didn't want to receive the same item in one shipment. Silly me... I thought from a company who brags about choices and options, it would be obvious that sending out the same thing would not be acceptable.
Great concept, it was so much better a year ago but now not so much... shame.
I am doing a trial now and really like their clothing (I am a 18/20 or 2x in most clothes), but the shipping time is excruciatingly slow. I receive exactly three items a week. It does not matter if I buy something the first day I receive it or notify them and ship it back the same day, I still do not receive a replacement item until the next week. If the turnaround time were better I probably would continue with my subscription beyond the trial, but $79 to wear 12 outfits a month is not worth it.
I've been with Gwynnie Bee for months, I left for a month or two because of the holidays (had to save that gift money) but immediately returned to the service. Easy shipping, fast delivery, great selection... awesome clothes for big girls. I have purchased about 5 of the items they have sent. A MUST FOR BIG GIRL FASHION ON THE CHEAP!
Answer: You have to re-add them, but there is a "history" section that keeps track of your items so they are easier to find.
Answer: The clothes are cleaned and then sent out to the next person who requested that item in that size. After a period of time (not sure how long) the clothes are put into their for sale section of the site. I've purchased several items after wearing them at incredible savings.
Answer: They are used but have been laundered - you have no need to do that unless you wish to do so. Also they are usually in excellent shape. If you ever receive anything that isn't, make sure you let them know so they can pull it from their inventory.
Answer: Hi Tara - Everyone experiences the service differently. I think the best thing is to judge for yourself. We offer a 30 day free trial, which allows you to do just that. Before joining you can check out our FAQs & browse the collection. If you have any questions, please contact us at gwynnie@gwynniebee.com or 855-GWYNNIE
Answer: It means they will upgrade your items by 1 for the life of your plan. If you sign up for 5 items, and stay with 5 items, you will get 1 free upgrade meaning you will get 6 items. If you change your plan later however, that free upgrade could go away. SandieB
Answer: Hello Susan, Thanks for your interest in our service. Yes, our's is a garment rental service, with the most popular plan of (2 garments out at a time), priced at $68 + taxes per 30-day billing cycle. Those on the 2-item plan usually receive 6-8 garments per month depending on how fast they return them. Speaking of which, you may keep the garments with you as long as you need, before returning them in exchange for another garment/s. When you're ready to receive another garment - we have a "Return Notification" feature where you can give us a heads-up that items are on their way back to us and we can start processing your next package. Our average turnaround time is 4-7 days depending on if you use our return notification feature & where you live. The return notification feature lets you tell us when you're returning an item, so we do not wait to physically receive it & can start processing your replacement within an hour of clicking. Importantly, should you like to purchase any garment you receive as part of your rental shipment you can do so easily, and that too, at generously discounted prices. I hope this helps. Best, Gwynnie
