Gwynnie Bee enjoys a generally favorable reputation among customers who appreciate the variety and quality of clothing, as well as the convenience of a rental model that allows for frequent wardrobe changes without significant financial commitment. Many users highlight the positive impact on their confidence and style exploration. However, concerns about slow shipping times, limited inventory, and challenges with cancelling subscriptions have been frequently mentioned. Additionally, customers have expressed frustration over unexpected charges and a lack of responsive support during issues. Overall, while the service has its strengths, addressing operational inefficiencies could enhance customer satisfaction.

I used to buy all of my clothing online. I am disabled and shopping in stores is just too problematic for me. This website works wonders for me and I find myself buying many of the dresses and tops that are sent to me.
Don't listen to all the negative reviews on this site about Gwynnie Bee! This is my feedback about this website and overall I have had only positive experiences using this service for the last 4-6 months.
How many times have you bought clothes, brought them home, later tried them on and they didn't fit etc. I have wasted money doing this very same thing, and not all stores will allow returns at a later date! I have avoided all of this because you get to try clothes, and buy them if you really love them! They are easily sent back to try others too. I have never enjoyed trying on clothes in crowded department stores either so this is also avoided!
The people complaining about sizes not being accurate are just not what I have experienced! How many clothes all fit exactly the same from different companies? I can answer that... none! The Gwynnie Bee customer reviews of clothes gives you feedback on the way the item fits. Some may fit true to size or others may fit smaller or larger. A great way to know what size to order...
The comments about a bad smell is just not what I've experienced either. Everything sent to me has looked new and smelled just fine! I have bought several items at reasonable prices too, so not everything is priced too high as another person commented. The items I have purchased all are very well made and not a cheap quality, if anything they were a higher quality than what you could purchase in the mall or department stores. They have many clothes to choose from as well as different styles so not sure why a person commented that all the clothes are made of the same material or all cheaply made... this just is not true! I believe the people on this site giving negative reviews really haven't given Gwynnie Bee a chance.
I've really enjoyed the Gwynnie Bee web site it's definitely an original and creative way to try new clothes or to purchase the clothes you couldn't part with! :)
I wanted to like GB, I really did. So much so that I tried it for a total of 6 months off and on, because I hate shopping for anything. The clothing quality is just not worth $100+ a month for three garments at a time, PLUS their sizing is so off because each brand varies so much, even when using their sizing tool. Half of my clothes were either way too big or way too small (and yes, I took my measurements). After six months of use, I only got one article of clothing that I would actually have picked out in a store, as pictures on the website are usually misleading. Material used in the clothing they send is just strange. I could spend $100 a month at Forever21+ or H&M Plus and be more satisfied and have equal clothing quality. I would not recommend it unless you have $100 to gamble with each month. Plus, when I called to cancel and explained that I was cutting ALL unnecessary expenses and just wanted to cancel, they tried to offer me half off for one month (no), tell me that if I cancelled now I wouldn't get anymore clothes EVEN THOUGH I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR A FULL MONTH and the next billing period was three weeks away, asked if I wanted to downgrade (no), and mentioned half off again, however, it would go back to the original price afterwards. No. It was fine when it was affordable, but even companies like Le Tote or Trunk Club don't charge as much, and their quality is better from my experience.
I've been using GB for a couple of months now--the first few which were half off (which was a great deal!). It's amazing how quickly things were turned around when I notified them I was returning an item... within days, they'd have another one out to me. But now that I am a full paying monthly member--the items take at least a week from the moment I notify them.
Timing is certainly suspect... methinks they may put a "slowdown" on your items once they have you hooked!
It seemed like a good concept, at the time, and I proceeded to put my information into the system to see what the monthly cost would be. After viewing the price, I decided not to continue. Mind you, I never clicked the submit button to finalize this. Not only did they take out an unauthorized payment on 2/7/16, bit just learned they took out another payment on 3/7/16! I've already contacted them thru paypal to no avail, so I turned it over to paypal to handle, which will take up to 30 days. I'm calling paypal now about the 2nd payment and my bank about fraud charges.
I signed up for the service in December and received 2 garments. One was decent, the other was eh. I agree with a previous review that they were smelly. At the end of December, I purchased a car and took on a car payment, so I needed to reduce my unnecessary payments. I canceled my membership on December 28th, well before the end of my first month. On January 22, I notified the site that I was returning the garments. I followed the exact instructions and took the return package to the US Post Office. On February 22, I was charged $120. When I called, they claim to have never received the items back. I'll not even go into detail about how complicated it was to get the customer service rep to find my account. I finally said, "Well you just took $120 of my money, so you have me in the system SOMEWHERE." Apparently, GB doesn't have tracking on their packages. They claim that they never received the package back.
While on hold with my bank to file fraud charges, my friend sent me screenshots of several horrible reviews from this company. This seems to be common practice for GB. You would think that a reputable business would take measures to prevent "lost" packages after multiple instances. I find it ironic that they have had so many 5 Star ratings in the past 2 weeks. Seems like GB realized they needed to do some damage control in order to keep screwing other people.
The thing that makes me the most angry about this situation is that GB has damaged the confidence that online vendors have spent years trying to build in consumers. Old fashioned people say they are scared to buy online or give out their card information. Gwynnie Bee is a prime example of why this might not be such a bad mindset. RIP OFF!
Select clothes you like online, wait at least 10 days (shipping speeds of wagon and mules), have the wrong clothes arrive and combine that with smelly, stained cheap quality... I wouldn't use this service if it was free.
I am currently a Gwynnie Bee subscriber and of course I feel ripped off just like the rest of the reviewers. I was promised 50% off my first two months and of course they charged me in full both months. I am a size 10/12 and they have very few items in my size. Even when they claim it's a 10/12, it is not. Once in a rare while I find something I like, but most of their clothes are not fashionable. If your looking for something sexy, forget about Gwynnie Bee. They have ruined a potentially great business idea.
GB is an amazing service that I encourage all of my size 10+ friends to use. I started using it when I became pregnant as an alternative to maternity clothes, and the service has followed me over 2 years and many different sizes. Now I use it for my work wardrobe (free dry cleaning, why thank you!), get daily complements and couldn't be happier. Best thing about it? Mailing your clothes back when traveling, leaving you oodles of room in your suitcase.
I love GB! I am an avid online shopped. All my wardrobe comes from online shops. I can't tell you how many times I order something online and I don't like it in person or don't like it as much as I thought I would. This service lets me try stuff a couple times and if I love it I keep it, and if I don't I send it back and get something new! The discounts are great too. I love this service!
I'm a little shocked at the reviews here. It almost seems like a concentrated attack. I've been a customer for several years, and the service has literally changed my life. I never ever thought I could have clothes that fit, let alone fit well or make me look good. Now I have new clothes 2-3 times a week, I get compliments on my outfits all the time, and I FEEL beautiful. The few interactions I've had with customer service have been professional, prompt, and 100% positive. I don't use the shop, since I've fallen in love with having space in my closet and I know I can rely on GB to surprise me with something cool in every box. Speaking of, I am going to go try on fab clothes I didn't have to hunt down, didn't have to special order, don't have to overpay for, and never have to take care of! If you're in the size range, try it. You've your entire life to gain.
I don't normally write reviews, but thought it was time. I have been a member of Gwynnie Bee for a year and have gotten so much out of it. I am more confident, get more compliments, and have a steady stream of new clothing for work and play. The clothing is well made and stylish and arrives clean and neat every time. I love it!
I have been a GB member for a year now and absolutely LOVE the service! I have the 2 items out at a time plan and wear a size 10. At first they didn't have a lot in my size, but over the last 6 months they have gotten so much more in my size and a lot of new styles. The quality of the clothes I get are like they are brand new and I have a hard time deciding if I want to send them back! I would recommend this service to anyone who works in an office and likes to try new styles and clothes, but at an affordable price. If you don't like the style, you can just wear it once and send it back for something else!
** I originally gave GB a poor review (read below), but I found that once I explained what happened (took a few attempts with different customer service agents), they did make an effort to make things right. Meanwhile, I've had a chance to try out more clothes, and my impression of the service overall has improved. It is fun and helpful to have a service shipping clothes and cleaning them given how chaotic my home/work life is. The added expense makes life a bit less challenging, and I've appreciated how quickly the selections change, and how great the choices in the store are (which I think can't be accessed unless you are a GB subscriber). I do wish the shipping were a bit more consistent - the 2 day priority shipping is averaging more like 4, but that's not something i can fault GB for.
*****
I rarely post poor reviews, but my experience with this company - even after giving them an opportunity to change my mind - should win an award for worst customer service. In a nutshell, after waiting 3 weeks for a dress that I purchased from their store, I wrote to them to inquire about why it was taking so long. Their online store advertises that shipments will be made within 2-3 days. In response to my inquiry, they apologized, gave me a 2 week rental upgrade (which is really like 1 week because of their shipment policies). They also said they would either issue a refund or ship the dress promptly. The dress arrived today ONLY it isn't the dress I ordered, and it certainly won't fit the event for which it was intended. Instead of being a dressy, winter dress, it is a casual, summer dress. It's a dress, in fact, that I accurately described as "hideous" when I wrote to customer service (and documented with a photo,).
How did customer service decide to handle this situation, even after hearing that I found the dress hideous? They said they were sorry, and that I'd be issued a refund in 4-5 days. They also said that I could keep the (hideous) dress that they accidentally shipped to me. Gee, thanks.
No acknowledgment of the fact that I had purchased the dress for a special occasion. No effort to make up for the month-long wait that culminated in the shipment of the wrong dress. Just - hey, to make this up to you, we're going to let you keep that hideous dress we shipped to you by mistake. Fantastic. Seriously, the worst customer service I've ever received.
Canceled this, returned the clothes and over 6 months later out of the blue I am charged $180? WTF. Try to call customer service 5 times to talk with someone, and of course no answer (spent 45 minutes on hold today!). So I dispute the charge with my credit card company and they rebill it! RUN RUN RUN Away from this! Zero ethics.
The usps did not deliver my package. I called GB customer service to let them know that I was no longer interested in reviving this and that I would like to cancel my account. I was told that I needed to either buy the items I never received to cancel my account or work with usps to get them returned but I would not be able to cancel without confirming they would be back by a certain date. (Which I can't do because they never arrived and I have no control over usps) not helpful at all. I will never use this service again and I would not recommend this to my friends.
I tried the free month. They shipped me nothing! Then charged me for the 2nd month. I called and they explained how to cancel and promised to refund my money. They didn't. They didn't return any calls. Paypal finally had to step in and refund me. What a scam!
Update: Funny how they responded immediately to this complain now that it's public. No thanks. You've shown your true colors when you didn't return my calls in the first place.
The first month, and free, month with the service was great. I chose two items per month to try it out, and although every item and brand you choose will fit differently, it doesn't hurt to try it, and it helped that right when I put the items back in the mail, another item was ready to ship and on its way! Super quick and definitely worth it. I continued the subscription, and the service declined heavily. It would take up to a week and a half for me to finally get another item to try, so it wasn't worth the money anymore, and before I knew it... miscommunication and deception left me with money that will not be refunded when I attempted to cancel the service. Be careful! They will keep your money if you are dissatisfied, and when you try to cancel, it will take them a while, so plan to pay for that last month and not get any service or items,... It will be a cancellation fee. I am ashamed that I feel for it.
Gwynnie is great. I've had the service about 6 months now. After the free 3 item at a time 30 day trial, I downgraded to 1 item at a time, because it was what I could afford. I knew I couldn't cancel! It's too fun.
Then I was notified that my trial was a contest entry and I'd won a free year of 3 items! So I was able to focus on buying more. I've gotten 5 awesome pieces so far. I've wanted a lot more, but since I'm on a budget, it's more of a monthly indulgence. Sometimes you can snag up fantastic prices with sales & promo codes.
I guess the people that have given bad reviews didn't read anything GB posted in their FAQ. It's all right there, and customer service is super friendly. Also my turnaround time has been very quick. To the person who had trouble with this... they do start prepping the box immediately, but they can't put it in the mail until your returned tracking label goes live. Usually within a few hours of my putting a return in the mailbox, the new package is shipped. 5 stars!
I joined GB for 5 months, cancelled only because I have more clothes than I can wear. They have some very stylish clothes, big name brands like Adriana papell. You can't choose the item you want. The clothes have sort of a musty smell like they have been stored in a warehouse somewhere. Some of the brands like Jete and Triste are polyester and I hate that. One dress looked worn out, one was coming apart at shoulder seam otherwise everything clean and in good condition. The purchase price too high for a secondhand garment, I waited until they had a special 40% off day. Ended up buying 4 or 5 dresses and two tops. So- I-don't need any more clothes. I cancelled by pushing a button online received confirmation that I cancelled now will have to look at CC statement this month to see if they really did cancel. This service best if you don't have many clothes and you work every day and have a place to wear them, and you are plus size. Just don't count on getting a first choice, they make the choice for you. Put a lot of things in your closet to increase your chances of shipments.
Answer: You have to re-add them, but there is a "history" section that keeps track of your items so they are easier to find.
Answer: The clothes are cleaned and then sent out to the next person who requested that item in that size. After a period of time (not sure how long) the clothes are put into their for sale section of the site. I've purchased several items after wearing them at incredible savings.
Answer: They are used but have been laundered - you have no need to do that unless you wish to do so. Also they are usually in excellent shape. If you ever receive anything that isn't, make sure you let them know so they can pull it from their inventory.
Answer: Hi Tara - Everyone experiences the service differently. I think the best thing is to judge for yourself. We offer a 30 day free trial, which allows you to do just that. Answer: It means they will upgrade your items by 1 for the life of your plan. If you sign up for 5 items, and stay with 5 items, you will get 1 free upgrade meaning you will get 6 items. If you change your plan later however, that free upgrade could go away. SandieB
Answer: Hello Susan, Thanks for your interest in our service. Yes, our's is a garment rental service, with the most popular plan of (2 garments out at a time), priced at $68 + taxes per 30-day billing cycle. Those on the 2-item plan usually receive 6-8 garments per month depending on how fast they return them. Speaking of which, you may keep the garments with you as long as you need, before returning them in exchange for another garment/s. When you're ready to receive another garment - we have a "Return Notification" feature where you can give us a heads-up that items are on their way back to us and we can start processing your next package. Our average turnaround time is 4-7 days depending on if you use our return notification feature & where you live. The return notification feature lets you tell us when you're returning an item, so we do not wait to physically receive it & can start processing your replacement within an hour of clicking. Importantly, should you like to purchase any garment you receive as part of your rental shipment you can do so easily, and that too, at generously discounted prices. I hope this helps. Best, Gwynnie
