The company's reputation is significantly marred by customer dissatisfaction, primarily due to issues with gift cards that arrive with zero balances and a lack of effective customer support. Many customers report difficulties in reaching the company, citing unresponsive email communication and nonexistent phone support. While a few positive experiences exist, they are overshadowed by consistent complaints regarding service delays, unfulfilled orders, and perceived fraudulent practices. Overall, the sentiment indicates a widespread lack of trust and reliability, suggesting that potential customers should exercise caution when considering this service.

I was really hesitant to send in my 3 cards (1 REI card, 2 Red Robin cards), but the company seemed reliable. I mailed in the cards, got an email confirmation when they were received and received another confirmation when the cards were shipped out. The whole process from mailed cards to check recived took about 7 - 10 days. Will use 'em again!
Just got scammed real hard by this company. I mailed seven gift cards to them using Priority Mail with tracking. Two of these gift cards were to Home Depot. Once receiving my package they tell me a check has been sent for the other five cards... I contact them and they claim the other two gift cards were not in the package when I am 100% sure they were. After accusing me of not mailing the gift cards in, they then claim the package was "damaged". They show me a picture of the package where it is ripped and re-taped back up. They then blame it on the USPS who monitors everything especially Priority Mail. After contacting the post office where there P. O. box is located several times, three days later I receive a call from the post office and I am told the cameras were reviewed and the package was delivered to them WITHOUT DAMAGE. It seems very mysterious why only two out of seven gift cards would be missing- especially ones that were in the middle of the pack. Luckily I was able to recover some of the balance by using the gift card numbers online, however over $200 was used on one of the cards and they are "not responsible" for it. Now I have to wait for stuff from Home Depot to come and go to the store and return it to recover the rest of the balance. Complete scam, use another company for sure.
Sent in three gift cards and get this email below:
We received your mail for this transaction, but unfortunately the
Envelope was badly damaged and one of the gift cards was no longer
Inside. It looks like the envelope was torn in transit and the 4773
Gift card had fallen out.
Regrettably, we cannot pay for gift cards that we haven't received,
But we will issue you the adjusted payment for the other cards in your
Transaction. We apologize for the inconvenience; we wish we had more
Control over how mail gets handled! However, if you still have the
Receipt for the gift card or the card information, you may be able to
Contact the merchant to request that they cancel the previous card and
Issue you a new one. If you have any further questions or concerns,
Please feel free to contact us anytime at *******@cardpool.com.
I have emailed them three times to contact me about this issue either by email or phone and have not heard a thing back and still have not seen my check for the two gift cards they received. They have no phone number to call them. A picture of the damaged envelope emailed to me for proff would have been nice. Will never deal with this company again.
I used to LOVE cardpool - always received my check within 1-2 days of email acknowledgment! Now that Blackhawk (Safeway) bought them out - I am STILL waiting for my check - 6 days after receiving confirmation that they mailed the check. - Cardpool was in San Francisco, Blackhawk is in Walnut Creek - does not take 5 days for the mail to deliver from either location to Sonoma County. Will definitely sign off on cardpool (after many great experiences) and begin using another gift card redemption site. I hope Blackhawk/Safeway is enjoying the interest they are earning on my money
I had a couple of gift cards I wanted to sell when I came across cardpool.com couple of things about this site. They don't have a phone number where you can call and inquire or resolve issues which is very funny to me because I buy all kinds of stuff online and never saw this there are plenty of rewiews here that say nothing but good stuff about cardpool.com but from their policies they seem ignorant of their service. Who doesnt have customer service? Not saying its a bogus site just know what youre getting into.
I just purchased $400 worth of certificates and have not received the ecodes like promised. I followed all the instructions, but have not received a response from customer service or the ecodes as promised. This is not okay. I'll update this if they actually address this problem.
I was skeptical at first but the temptation to save over powered me. I purchased a $100 Cabela's electronic gift card for $90 and had the email with the numbers within an hour of the transaction. I made my purchase from Cabela's with no issue. 3 days later the items ship and on the 4th day I am notified by Cabela's that the card was purchased fraudulently. I notified Cardpool immediately and was issued a full refund from them with and extra Cardpool gift card for my trouble. Cardpool's customer service handled this issue great and I would do business with them again especially knowing that they will stand by the sale. I was more frustrated by Cabela's as I thought they treated me more incorrectly over this situation. I just want to let people know of my issue and how it was handled. I am sure these things happen when you are in this type of business but Cardpool handled this issue very well in my opinion.
To the lady who thinks endorsements of cardpool.com are fake: No, I am a real and ordinary business owner who has used them for over a year now and they have never failed me. I love cardpool, and they now have processed transactions for me that number in the thousands of dollars. No kidding. Their customer service has been way above par. I have no problem recommending them.
I sell 7 different gift card by electronic to cardpool, within same day on June 26, they send me back a email say that the check was on the way and the check was $611. Today was July 1,2011. I just check the mail box, the check still not come yet. After I see all the review, I'm scare now. Hope next week, I will receive it. I will follow up on next week.
I had a $25 Ticketmaster gift card that I was trying to sell to friends for $20. I sold it online to Cardpool and got my check for $20.75 three days after the confirmation email.
I purchase discounted gift cards from them regularly for my own shopping. Very reliable, no problems at all! I recommend Cardpool highly.
I placed an order of $68 (2 gift cards) on March 21st. I live in New York, so waited a little over a week til March 30th. Nothing in my mailbox... I emailed (because they don't have customer support phone number) them with my order confirmation email with order #. They emailed me back on March 31st saying it sometimes takes up to 3 weeks. So I waited 3 weeks as I was told to. My gift card did not come. I emailed again on April 11th informing them I did not receive my order. They emailed me back on April 12th saying that they would make a full refund and told me to check my credit card statement in a few days. So I waited again til April 16th, and I did not get any refund. I emailed them again telling them I did not see $68 back to my credit card. On April 18th, they suddenly start saying they had refunded on March 22nd. Why? I placed an order March 21st. I even contatced them on March 30th because I was so anxious to receive my order.
As of today April 18th, they insist they had refunded $68 on March 23rd, and they suggested me to contact my credit card compnay and bank becaue they can't do anything further. The phone number they have on the site is for Sales Dept. and the guy said to me "if you are not placing an order, I can't help you are you placing an order?. Horrible (NO) customer service. It's just $68, but imagine if they do this for 20 customers a day... I do online shopping everyday and have never had a bad experience before at all. BUT I would never shop on this site again.
I made my first purchase at CardPool.com on 3/9/2011.
I chose a $25 Bebe & a $25 Bed Bath & Beyond Gift Card (10% & 8% discount), and I received them promptly in 4 days through US post office (well, I'm in L. A. and they're in San Francisco), and I used the $25 Bed Bath card in-store without any problem.
Then I purchased a $97.81 Walmart **Electronic** Gift Card (3% discount) on 4/4/2011, and someone from CardPool.com called me the next day. I didn't recognize the phone (415-508-xxxx) so I didn't pick up. They left a message asking me to call back to verify my purchase.
So I called the 415-508-xxxx number back the next morning, a lady picked up the phone right away. She's polite and nice. First she asked for my order number or phone number to identify my order, then she asked if I have my credit card with me. At first I thought she wanted me to provide the credit card information all over again, but she said no, they will never asked financial information from customers, all she needs is the customer service number printed on the back of my credit card.
Then she asked me to speak only the street name of my registered resident address, and to name a near cross street (if you really live in that address, you will know). At last, she said the purchase was verified, and I won't be asked to verify again for my future purchases.
On the same day evening, I received the e-card and pin number in the email, and I used it to shop at Walmart.com. I already received the goods from Walmart yesterday, no problem at all.
I think CardPool.com provides some good discounts & quite a varieties of cards to choose from, and their service is good from my experience.
I guessed they will verify you the first time you purchase an **Electronic** gift card, but still not sure. I already made my 3rd purchase with them as of today 4/14/2011.
Had two Bloomingdale cards valued each for fifty dollars, I entered my gift card numbers and requested a check for payment. Cardpool requested that I send in the cards by mail and promised upon receipt to issue payment of $82. Fast forward a week later, I receive the below email from cardpool:
We recently received your mail, but noticed that the gift cards foryour transaction was missing from the package. It looks like theenvelope was damaged in transit and we only received the shippinglabel at our processing center, which must have detached from theenvelope with your gift cards. Regrettably, we cannot offer paymentfor gift cards that we don't receive. However, if you still have the rceipt for the gift cards, you may be able to contact the merchant torequest that they cancel the previous cards and issue you a new one.If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel welcome tocontact us at *******@cardpool.com anytime.
I couldn't fine a phone number to call them directly, so I sent an email to support - its been a week, no response. I can't believe I was duped I should have known better. I hope this helps someone, please stay away from this company and just use your gift card.
I tried to buy a giftcard, entered all my information, checked out and got an email saying my giftcard was to come shortly.
Instead I got a phone call from Cardpool asking to "verify" my purchase by asking all of my personal information ALL over again!
This "verification" process is insane. First of all there is nothing online that says someone will be calling me in the middle of the work day to "verify" my order. I found it really intrusive and waste of my time.
Secondly, they already have all of my information which I filled out online. Calling the number I have used to "verify" my order is not going to help anything.
Unless there was something that didn't match up I don't agree with bothering the customer about their order. I also don't like giving out personal information over the phone, it could also very well be a scammer trying to get my information. There is no way for me to tell.
I shop online almost everyday and I think this is useless and terrible process. The lady I spoke to was nice but sounded young and inexperienced.
This is obviously a scam. Google any keywords related to this business and it is all search engine spam on parasite hosts (free blogs, etc.). I bet all the positive comments are fake.
Offer to sell any gift card they "have in stock" and then go look at the price to buy the same valued gift card at the same merchant. The price is the same, which means that they wouldn't be making any profit. Considering the costs of running this "business", I guess they just run chronic budget deficits.
I love this quote from the Cardpool:
"Cardpool actually buys the gift cards directly from customers, verifies the authenticity and balance of each gift card, and holds on to them until a buyer is found. Even though we may never find a buyer for a given gift card, we pay sellers within 24 hours of receiving their gift card."
Yeah, they do this all for free, and even don't mind paying people for gift cards they may never find a buyer for, lol.
I purchased an electronic gift certificate for Lowe's Home Improvement. The site promises that electronic gift cards are emailed within 24 hours. It's been 48 hours, I've emailed support, and I haven't heard a thing. So much for that whopping 6% discount! Avoid the hassle and try one of the other gift card sites!
I send my gift card almost 2 weeks ago via air mail and still have not received a check still waiting
I had a Tiffany's gift card and I couldn't find anything that I needed. Cardpool had the best exchange rate for my card. I signed up, mailed it on the same day and on the 4th day, I got my Amazon credit. I will use this service again.
