I've been ordering from Swanson for years, and today when doing a search to get to the site saw a listing for this one, so I came here. I am confused to say the least, because I place multiple orders a year and have never had a problem, not to mention last night when I placed an order (Friday night) it had already been shipped before bed!
Wait, I can't say I've NEVER had a problem. A couple of years ago, like an idiot I ordered several bottles of the wrong version of an item. I realized my mistake soon after and frantically looked for an email to explain my stupidity. The woman who answered was about as kind as it comes in customer service. Since the order immediately shipped out she re-placed an order with the correct items and refunded me for the one on the way immediately. I was shocked. Obviously I sent it back as fast as possible in appreciation.
Here we have a great business, based in North Dakota that I trust WAY more than Amz for speed, quality, and price (who cares if a sale says "up to"? The prices are STILL the lowest). It's sickening that anyone can just jump on a site and ruin their rep for who knows what reason, hence my need to express MY many experiences. Must be the same rooms of people giving 5 star reviews to every product on that other site mentioned earlier, trying to ensure a monopoly.
Do not place orders with Swanson. They purposely place you on automatic refill without your consent.

I've used Swanson a few times but this last time was a big disappointment. Delivery took 1 month and not the 2-5 business days promised, tracking did not provide much information and customer support was non-existant. Delivery cost me nearly $40 so I think I am entitled to complain about such poor service.
It's such a shame as Swanson used to be really good.

They finally listened and cancelled the 1.99 weight fee. Now as of May 2025 its free shipping with $29 purchase. I tried a few shipments, so far so good. Still took a while to get to my house. Just recently ordered products on sale. Tiny ones. 3 bottles. They have just one job with me, ship them. Was supposed to be here May 24th. Nothing. Still showing sitting in Fargo North Dakota. Chat is down. Have to physically talk to someone. Great. If its not here by May 30th, call and get a refund OR have them ship again and maybe your package will get here by June 9th. If mine is not here by May 30th I am cancelling the order and never using them again. Its an exercise in stress, angst and futility. Getting the product from them with the sale price is not worth it.
The Swanson Cayenne product is full of health claims ( see pic). I took it for over two months and experienced no improvement. What it did give me was a very bad heartburn, virtually every time I took a capsule. One certainly feels the 40,000 Capsaicin Heat Units. The capsules are not enteric-coated, so one gets the full benefit of the burning right in the stomach.
Swanson is advertising free shipping and then adding on a shipping and handling fee ($1.99) just before checkout. I am sure they hope most customers won't notice this fee. This is false and deceptive advertising. Unfair to customers who have purchased products from them for many years.
I'm a long time customer going on 5-years now and have always purchased large quantities to cover my needs for several months. I take as today, 21 different supplements and vitamins; some are once a day, twice a day, and then there are the three per day. I have also always enjoyed their regular discounting and of course, "Free Shipping on orders over $50!" However, that is no longer true as they have imposed what they're calling a shipping surcharge? My first up-charge was on an order over $250 and I called and was told due to the size of my package, they had to charge me $16 for it due to carrier up-charge. So, I reduced the next order to just over $50 and got charge again, a $1.99 up-charge. This is not free shipping! My question them was, "How can you advertise Free Shipping if you're going to charge anything, regardless of how you state it, a shipping fee?" I'm very disappointed that they're doing this and may begin seeking my needs elsewhere? There are many other reputable sources! Bluebonnet, Jarrow, etc.
I purchased two bottles of 100mg NAC. While using them, I noticed I was experiencing mood swings and not getting the benefits I generally get from NAC. I purchased another bottle from another vendor (60mg this time) and immediately noticed the benefits. I also noticed the smell of the 60mg tablets--they were funky and sulfury, while the Swanson ones had no smell at all. Don't know what was in there--baby powder? Corn starch? Definitely not N-Acetyl Cysteine.

I have been with Swanson Vitamins since 1998. I have NEVER had an unsatisfactory experience. I look for emails saying 35% or 40% off Swanson brand then I go to town. If it says "up to" then I wait. Website is little slow. If my cart does not reflect all 35 or 40% off, I call and place order over the phone. NEVER had a single problem in 25 Years. Excellent quality! Low Prices! I refrain from ordering during hot months because long ride in hot semi trailers. BUT all vitamins in any store or online took the same hot ride from somewhere. Stock up during cooler seasons. Great company!

I've shopped there for a long time and thought they were are discount vitamin company but have realized that you can buy at consistently lower prices elsewhere without their gimmick pricing. When you contact them they say it doesn't matter if you are a long time customer, as you just have to pay the regular price and wait for special discount codes. They say to call in your order and try to get a discount vs just ordering online.
After placing an order, 22 days later it was still processing and during that time items became "unavailable and out of stock". I never had trouble with them in the past but I won't ever order from them again.

Swanson vitamins has a long history of price fixing while you are shopping, just Google your item and look for the cheapest price which will be Swanson's own site, select the item from their site showing the low price ie. $10 a bottle, however as you shop the price in your cart WILL change without notice to you which then is $13. This happened to us trying to buy some Garlic supplement. It also happens with other items. If you select one of their offers to provide your email that will also change the pricing or the offers to buy one get one free.
The web site is utter trash. It charged me twice for an order and they refused to issue a refund--they told me to wait a week or so and it would drop off from my bank--meanwhile they kept my money. The herbs are a different color and shade every time I order the same product. Sometimes it's different inside each bottle! The have never heard of quality control. Who knows how much of what, is in those capsules (THEY don't, that's for sure) You call them with any problem and they are totally apathetic and won't bother to fix anything their trash web site caused. Just NOT worth your trouble!
Only part of my order was shipped and when I called customer service she was very understanding and immediately got my information to send out the rest of my order. I have been cutomer of Swanson for many years. I recently ordered about 10 different vitamins and supplements. When the box came, I opened it as usual and to my surprise a whole slew of live crawling ants came bursting out of the box! It was like in an Indiana Jones movie. I immediately closed to box, but some ants had already crawled out into my kitchen. After my initial shock, I sealed the box and put it outside my door. Then, it took me a while to track down and find and kill the ants that had already escaped. My next impulse was to call Swanson immediately, and explain what happened. I thought they were going to replace my package, and also give full refund for my trouble. But, they said I had to fill out some forms, and tape them to box, then drive all the way to post office to return the package. Meanwhile, I left all the ants that were still in the box. A few weeks later I called, and to my surprise, they said it was EITHER refund or replace the items that were in original package! I was outraged. After all, I'm the one who had to clean up their mess, and deal with possible infestation of my house, I'm the one who had to fill out forms, and drive all the way to post office to return the package. And, for all my trouble, that's all they would do is replace my items? I can assure you and them I will never do business with this company again! It is outrageous for all the trouble I went through, and being long time customer, and have to do all the legwork. I got NO compensation. Just my original items. My advice, never do business with this company!

We're recognized as a registered GMP Facility by NSF International, the world's leading authority on standards development and public safety. We'd certainly be interested in learning more about this situation! Especially since our Customer Service Center focuses on making things right, it certainly would not have been standard procedure to ask you to ship ants back to our facility. First, The Credit card address (But all the time same) Second, The Shipping address is supposed to same. Third, Not allow resale so only we can order 5 bottles. Fourth, Out of Stock (Cannot sell this product) = Only allow to order "Swanson's product" = Cannot cancel (If we need a refund after receive and returning) Finally, i can discount some of Swanson's Products.
