Very fast services
August 10, 2019

Select home warranty was so fast in keeping their gaurantee on my service call. Three days was incredible and they issued an approval on the spot for an installation of two parts to get the oven up and running.

So Far So Good

Today I purchased the home warranty, Abraham Dayan was the rep. I did everything first online, however, within mins my phone was rang. It was Select Home Warranty (Abraham). As I was talking, I was still online researching/price matching and reading reviews. Abraham understood my hesitation, he allowed me to ask questions, which I did. I think the reviews are very hard to go by. You just need to know and understand the services, and when the service actually starts. In the middle of me giving my credit card number, I paused with uncertainty. Issac stepped in and assured me I was making a good monthly investment, he lowed the cost and I was definitely sole at that point. I pray I do not need to make that call, but I do have a little peace of mind. I also, hope I do not have any issues that some experienced stated in the reviews, because BBB will be hearing from me.

First, negotiate - actually just keep saying no...
I started at $1200 for the year, $90 per visit. Got down to $1200 for 4 years, 45$ per visit.
I will definitely recoup the $1200 - I have been reimbursed to purchase a washer, dryer and dishwasher, plus a plumber and electrician visit in the first year (about $800).
Here's the deal - almost every time you call, the tech comes out and whatever they have to fix is not worth the cost to fix it, so they give you a few bucks towards what you are replacing (normally at $100-175). If it's a system (like your plumbing or electrical system) they give you around $300.
The sales guy was extremely misleading - he said they would replace your unit with the same functionality... that lead me to believe they would replace my unit. But if you read page 8 blah blah blah it's really explained - but who reads 15 pages.
Also, you have to have TIME. It takes about a day for a tech to call you, make the appt, get approval, put in for the refund, etc.
If I had gone with the first deal, I would be pissed. However, 1 year in I have almost gotten back all I put in, so it's not terrible.

Great workers!

The worker they hired was not sloppy and very professional in his work space around my boiler. He took two days to complete the replacement of a part that was dripping water. Very friendly and competent in the work and service received from Select warranty.

Thermostat claim

I was at work and my wife called to get our thermostat repaired. It malfunctioned when changing it from hot to cold and the temperture gauge was wrong. A service tag was issued and after a short four day wait I had an appointment. The replacement was installed the very same day.

We have had multiple issues trying to get an air conditioning repaired. In both cases it took them over two weeks to provide a determination. Our fault that we didn't read the fine print and they don't cover freon. On the second repair they requested pictures of the unit and 3 years of repair records. This was over two weeks after we submitted the original claim and the technician came out. We live in AZ and it is 110 outside! No escalation of our claim as we requested. We also have an elderly mother living in the home. They called back today and said they would only cover $250 of the repair because we didn't provide maintenance records! We had just had the unit inspected and serviced in May. They told my husband that isn't satisfactory. You have to have an inspection in April, prior to the start of the "season". There is no where that this says this in the contract! I will never use this company again. I also read the other reviews and we have had the same issue where they say that they will call back in 24-48 hours and we never hear back. It takes on average 2 weeks to even get any kind of response.

New homeowners, do not purchase your home warranty from Select Home Warranty! We bought our house in December 2018, and our AC unit stopped working in June 2019. We provided proof from the previous owner that the AC unit was serviced in August 2018 and was working then, and proof from our home inspection reports that it was working when we purchased the house. We filed a claim, and the warranty company assigned a contractor, but then we got an email from them saying our problem was not covered, even BEFORE the contractor came out to identify the problem! When I called to ask how they could determine this before the problem was even identified, they said that the email was a mistake. Then the contractor came out, but then the warranty company said it's not covered because we have to have 3 years of maintenance records. How many new homeowners have 3 years of records? This is a SCAM! We had paid $1050 for a 3-year policy. Since they wouldn't cover our claim, we then cancelled our policy in July 2019. However, they said this is a breach of contract, and they charged all kinds of fees, and they will only refund $450 out of the $1050 we paid. Again, total SCAM!

This is the worst home warranty company that has ever existed. On June 9,2019 we placed a claim to have our refrigerator repaired. It is now July 18,2019! I have spoken with their "call center", who claim to be in New Jersey. I honestly doubt it! I do not think they understand the English language well. Understand that I have been on the phone with these customer service reps many many times. One customer service representative told my technician that I hired my own technician. I ABSOLUTELY NEVER SAID THAT! I was waiting on the technician and called the technician. The technician told me about the phone call. He also said that he has problems with Select Home Warranty. The part is back on order again. So my family gets to wait to have a working refrigerator. I have had to rent a refrigerator. I paid on 6/15/19 and now it is time to pay again. Still no refrigerator. They refuse to reimburse me for my rental, even though this is their mistake. Every time I call, I can never get a supervisor. At every call, they state, "Oh I see you hired your own technician." I honestly do not understand what they are doing. I just want a refrigerator that works. I will never use this company and I will tell all my real estate friends about my issue. I will only be happy at this point with a working refrigerator, reimbursement for 2 months rental of a refrigerator, reimbursement of my service call fee, and reimbursement of the last six months of monthly fees for their lack of service. I have now wasted hours on the phone with these people. Time is money.

If you are thinking about a home warranty company don't go with Select Home Warranty I am going to get a lawyer to get results. They have not done one thing correct on the issue I have had. At the first of the year my hot water heater went out they wouldn't cover it because they said it was a leak. It wasn't just a leak. When my washing machine had problems I had to pay for it because I couldn't wait for three week for them to resolve the issue. Now the outside ac unit when Sunday night. No AC in Houston is terrible. I file the claim it would be 24 to 48 hours. I called and was very nice stating that I need it take care before that. Well 24 hours later we had a AC guy come and take a look at it. He said it was a simple fix and he had the part. Just need the approval from Select Home it Warranty would take another 24 to 48 hours. I called them back and said that I need it fixed now. We have had a death in the family and I have people coming into town and there is no way we can have them here without AC. The women state she would fast track it and I should hear within few hours (before 5 PM) I didn't I get a request by email for a picture of the unit. What a picture why. So I sent them a picture and called. Was told it would take 24 to 48 hours for approval. What! Do they have to approve? It is covered. I want to talk with a supervisor. I couldn't she would tell me the same thing. Then let me talk to someone who can. Put me on hold for a hour. Did a load of laundry, change sheet on bed, took out trash, got dressed. Finally came back on line stated that the supervisor was on another call and would call me back. I asked for another number to call no response long pause, she stated there was not another number to call. I have never cussed anyone out in 70 years. Response we will have some call you back. Now we are going to have to go to a hotel 5 rooms four nights

Select is a very nice company to deal with. I placed my claim on the telephone and got approval for my claim in 5 business days. The washer was fitted with a new motor and is working like new again. The old one was recycled by the person who came in to do the work.

My husband and I are selling our home and decided to purchase a home warranty policy as a selling incentive. Reviewed several warranty plans online. Select Home Warranty offered the most comprehensive coverage plus had several add on options we found attractive. Filled out the free quote estimate request and was contacted by Abraham Dayan to discuss plan and payment options. Mr Dayan was very friendly and knowledgeable about the plans and add on options offered. In addition he was able to offer us a price incentive which made the already great plan price even better. All things considered we feel we made a good purchase.

I submitted a claim for an issue with our garage door opener... not the garage door itself. The warranty DOES cover the opener. I received an email stating my garage door needed to be repaired and is not covered under the warranty. Do they not know how to read a claim for Christ's sake? Now, I'm waiting for another response from a higher department. This is my first claim and must say I'm worried!

Select warranty is the biggest scam would cover anything. They kept change time frame for covering appliances. Started with 30 days after first start with the company. Then it was 60 day when I protested it was 100 days! Don't waste your time or energy with this crappie warranty company!

I called to submit a claim. I was informed that my coverage had not been set up yet (should have began in April, claim submitted in July). My agent also had a bit of an attitude and spoke over me multiple times. Depending on how my claim gets handled would flunctuate my review by a star.
