They need to be up front about this service costing money. You can list all the rooms and describe it and add photos etc but then you have to pay just to read a message from someone. IF you post your email or contact info they will censor it out. SCAM!
I find it pretty weird that during my subscription I get a few messages but once it runs out there are 3-4 messages. Odd.
Follow up to make sure I'm satisfied? Right. Doesn't seem like you're really that interested in satisfied only $$.
Roomster is an awesome website that helps to find choice-able Rooms & nice, clean, responsible Roommates around the world. I was seeking a Roommate & I found one already by this wondering website. That's why I just giving 3 out of 3 stars.
Signed up for the free service but realized i would need to pay to communicate with potential roommates. Paid for a three day subscription and actually got in contact with a few real folks and it actually looks like one of them is gonna work out. So, I can't complain about that. I also cancelled my account effortlessly after I felt I had contacted enough people. The one thing that is slightly strange though are the number of really attractive 20-something year old women that got filtered to my e-mail as potential roommates after I signed up. Despite my login name here, I am actually a 40+ year old man and it seemed like the site only felt obligated to tell me when a really hot young woman was looking for a room to rent. Lots of folks posting for rooms but I only get alerted about the babes? Like I said, this website may have actually worked to get me a roommate but it just felt sketchy.
7 dollars is a rip off just to find potentially find people to move into your place or finding roommates, you act like it take 5 days to find someone when it can actually take much longer than that or not at all. For all i know this site is a complete scam just wanting to take my money and doesn't help with what i'm looking for. I don't even get test the legitimacy of this site before actually having to pay for the service, how does that make sense?
Plain and Simple. No matter how good of a deal you post you will hardly get any responses because hardly anybody pays to find a room when they can do it for free elsewhere. They don't mention that when you sign up so you're stuck with the ad you paid to post which will get no responses. Then I had something really F'ed up happen where I had closed my account and THEY reactivated it and charged me 29.95 for a 30 day membership! Illegal for one and completely F'ed up! I wish everyone responsible for this to have mutated and crippled offspring
I moved into a college dorm with this kid about six months ago after I was paired up automatically by the schools housing department. The first few weeks we were still getting to know each other but it seemed like it would be a good fit. For the most part he was respectful and clean and didn't have too many guests over which I appreciated. All seemed to be going well until one night I found him standing over me in my sleep masturbating! I was so delirious I didn't even know what was going on but when I realized what was happening I freaked out and ran out of the dorm and went to my friends place to crash. Instead of going to the school authorities I decided it would be best just to find a new place to live. I heard about Roomster through one of my classmates and found a nice, small but clean room close to campus for a reasonable rate, the site was also really convenient and easy to use.
Nearly every single positive review for Roomster on this site and on others is fake. The Roomster wikipedia page also constantly gets sanitized whenever someone makes an edit mentioning the service's negative aspects.
My old roommates were huge party animals and were constantly coming home super late, super drunk, and super loud! I never got any sleep and I had a normal job that was being negatively affected by my lack of sleep. I found Roomster through the recommendation of a friend and I’m really glad they showed it to me. Was able to create a profile in seconds detailing my lifestyle choices and it matched me with tons of options with people who have similar schedules/work-life. So happy I found this site it helped me get out of a bad situation.
Went apartment hunting via Craigslist recently and had several email and text replies that had the same script and a link to what then became Roomster. They ask you to upgrade and become a paying customer. This is a total fraud, first trolling Craigslist, and second hoping to sucker you into paying for a fake service. These "good" reviews are obvious fakes. And now I can't even "unsubscribe" they keep sending junk mail. It's total trash.
Not really impressed by the way the site operates and lack of information on what to expect (subscription) and the fact that with free subscription you can't read messages. Ping me again in few days for second review
I’ve been looking on the net for sites that provide a roommate matching type service. When I came across Roomster I really like the simplicity of the site, and the design was very free flowing and intuitive. I ended up finding a great room to rent after a few quick messages back and forth with some people.
Alas! The hunt is good and done, and now I can enjoy my new apartment. Roomster has been a great deal of help at finding Sam, my new fabulous roommate! I think my favorite feature has been the zodiac! Being spiritually inclined, astrology is a big part of my day-to-day life, and being a Scorpio, I was hoping to find a roommate with an earth sign, and so I did! Samantha (Taurus) has been so kind and she answered my messages right away, and having all my info already given on my profile, we were totally able to move the process into action quickly, and now it has been almost two weeks since I messaged her and I am all moved in an settled. Check out your potentials zodiacs because the people you live around will affect your day-to-day more than you think!

Overall straight forward and clean. But confusing parts that make me pause and try to figure stuff out. Like what a broadcast is and how it would look to other person. The tutorial section only has a tutorial on 2 things. More instructions would be good in the help section. Also, think it doesn't take American Express b/c gives me an error as soon as I input my card number (and doesn't let me attempt to submit)... but it doesn't tell me no Am. Express - just that my card number isn't valid (despite it being correct).
Overall like the clean look
My "best friend" and I were looking for a place together and after a few months of tirelessly searching for something that suited both of us we finally found our dream place. Spacious, new appliances and close to public transportation it was like a dream come true. I was so excited to move in but then my "friend" did something I still can't believe to this day. At the very last minute she signed the lease without me so that her cousin could live with her! I was so angry and felt hopeless but my brother told me about Roomster and I' m so grateful he did. Not only did I find an even NICER place than the one I got screwed out of but it was closer to my job!
I had a horrible experience! I had many men sexually harassing me via emails and phone calls. I had one man being really unkind and mean. I had one lady who never showed up on the day she was supposed to move in. In my experience, the caliber of people using this service is very disturbing and creepy. I have removed my profile and will not use this service anymore and would not recommend it to anyone I know. I contacted roomster about it and they responded by arguing with me through a series of emails. Stay away from this site.
I just moved back to the city from Sydney in January, and having used Roomster.com with my friends to find a place for us there for the past year, I had to give it a shot back home, now that I was looking again. Once again it was a pleasure using the sleek interface, I am very specific with what I want to get out of my flat, and will not compromise! Though I probably prolonged my search, it felt like the smoothest transaction I have ever had looking and moving into a place. Until we meet again Roomster.
My wife and I listed our apartment with the help of our daughter last summer, we took a 3-month trip around SE Asia, and wanted to have the bills covered while we were away. The whole ordeal was good and dealt with within the week. We plan to do the same this year and hopefully get to visit the South Americas. We are not the most technologically inclined, though we managed to complete the listing on our own this time around, which should say something in Roomster’s favor.
Great. Not. 90% of messages are from ppl who think we live in a different city but aside from location being wrong so all ppl are not interested it's great. It's called sarcasm.
Even worse is meeting someone (using a different site) in real life who you had sent a message to and seeing my message not be present on her phone. So, a little censorship. Very nice job. And if I get verified, that's when we get inquires from far away. (Verification caused more even more censorship.)

Answer: These are untrue statements. We have asked our many satisfied customers to post their positive experiences about Roomster to counteract the negative, and mostly untrue statements posted about us. If you notice that Sitejabber has negative reviews of almost every company doing business in the united states. If it was all true, there would be no business left and everyone would be out of work. People never write good reviews, people love to be negative. Its sad.
Answer: Hi Aminah, Roomster did not post that ad on Craigslist, we did not create that link and there fore we can not offer support for it. This looks to be one of our affiliates, who should not be doing this. We will be removing this person from our affiliate program. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Answer: That makes little to no sense. Undeleted? What does that even mean? N you want to create an account after you deleted it? Go ahead.

Roomster has a rating of 2.2 stars from 4,115 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Roomster most frequently mention customer service, credit card and read messages. Roomster ranks 2nd among Roommate sites.
This review is just ridiculous. We ask satisfied customers who contact us about their positive experiences on Roomster to write good reviews on the review site. People love writing negative and hateful things on the internet. Roomster has worked so hard to provide the best service we can, we are glad that so many people have acknowledged it. This reviewer seems to only want to read hateful things about us. why?
