Site is easy to use. However, people do not always respond in a timely manner. Too many email notices that turn out to be deleted before reaching me. 3 months and have yet to find the right room to rent or person to rent with.
This website is truly horrible. It looks like I'm not the only one who became victim to this fraud. Used the site for just a few days - Charged 3 times 30$ and no response from customer service.
I've also used a site called Easy Roommate. They charged the same, but I had much more results and a lot less trouble...
What a JOKE! Roomster's "free basic" service, & once you get an email/reply for a potential roommate, they block you from reading it by stating you have to upgrade and pay... I am not going to give these scumbags my information, I can't believe I opened up a profile, so bogus. Stay away.
This does not seem to interface very well with my previous experience on Roomster. I'm having a hard time figuring out the difference between creating a listing, and creating a broadcast...? Also, I knew what value-driven services I got from being a paid member before... but now I can't really understand what I'm getting after having paid. It's all a bit nebulous. I would appreciate some contact and help in that regard.
I am an actor. In my house, I wanted renting one room and went many sites but I didn't. At last I take help from Roomster.com and within couple of weeks I was able renting my room. What a fantastic website this is! Thanks Roomster. Its service qualities is best
Subscribed for a trial period. NOT ONE person replied. This is such a rip-off. I even contacted a person on craigs who then said to go on roomster. However: on that site i could NOT find the room i looked at. I texted the person via craigslist. No reply - nothing. None of them have answered so far. I cancelled my trial after 3 days. Will see if they charge me for another 30 days or 7 days. I am thinking of calling my bank to avoid any future charges.
The profiles are horribly out-of-date. A profile listed in our area was marked new but the guy who listed it had done so over a year earlier. We listed a house share with detailed information. The only response was from a "Doctor" from outside the U.S. who messaged that he was arriving in three hours (no time to check references!) for a two-week stint as a guest lecturer at the University here... great, except the University is on winter break for the next three weeks... no way I will trust this website again.
Sticking with craigslist from now on.
Buyer Beware!
I was using this site, and paid for a 3 day subscription. I went over my time and instead of stopping my ability to use the site it charged me for an additional month. There is no way that you can stop the roll over charge unless you cancel subscription, but then you are no longer allowed to use the site or reactivate the site! Even if you were only 1 day into a 30 day subscription.
Helpful Tip!
Set up your account and leave your email address as a point of contact when writing your About page. That way your not using their message service and are not required to deal with the horrible payment options.
I came home one late afternoon to my dorm room in South Quad at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. My roommate Scott had a buddy of his over. The turntable was playing the Stones album, Some Girls at full volume. I noticed that my roommate was wearing my Levis because, as he said, he liked them. They also had both dropped some acid and were completely obliterated on that plus whatever else they had been taking. Also, this roommate used to like to eat Hostess Fruit Pies and place the half eaten ones on my books. I could go on but wont. Needless to say I found a new place to live off campus. Found a good deal on a place through Roomster.com. I was actually surprised how many affordable options they had available.
My landlord was taking way too long to complete rather serious repairs in my apartment so instead of waiting for him to get of his $#*! I decided to take matters into my own hands. I went on Roomster after finding it on Google and started looking through their listings and found a really great guy who was renting out an extra bedroom in his place. He is the superintendent for an apartment building so he understands what it takes to keep a unit functioning properly.
I agree with the rest of the comments here. This site is a scam, sending me "fake emails" about having new messages in my inbox and asking me to pay to view them when they were all roomster generated messages. Oh, and not only that they automatically charge you $29 for a month subscription to useless service after that.
Been using the Roomster interface for my last few roommate swaps, this is the first time I came to leave a review. Gotta say, it has definitely improved in the last few years. One of my favorite newer additions is how easy it is to check out the people who message you and take a closer look on their social media (because it says a lot about a person). And beyond finding new roommates, I made some cool new friends too.
Some people are always hesitated to room renting. But I can say them that they should use Roomster without any hesitation. Because I found the site to be easy to use and straight forward. I found a suitable room only for $450.00/month. I recommend this all time.
I recently got a new job at an accounting firm and was looking online for places to rent in the area but everything was just slightly out of my price range. I had a friend who’s a broker who let me in on her dirty little secret: Roomster. She told me it’s her go-to spot to find things off market that her clients might be interested in. I decided to check it out and I am so glad that she told me about this site it was a godsend! After easily creating a profile I perused some of their listings and in no time I found a steal of a deal. Thank you Roomster!
Went through the same thing as others. Signed up for the trial period then was charged the $30. As much as that hurt my bank account (im not working and attempting to relocate from Missouri to DC so every penny counts) I can only be made at myself for not looking up reviews beforehand and not paying attention to the fine print :( At least roommates.com doesn't automatically renew your subscription.
After breaking up with my boyfriend I needed to move out of my apartment as soon as possible and Roomster helped me do so. I quickly found this great apartment and was so happy I could move in right away! It took less than a week to find an apartment and sign a lease! Running into this website definitely was the best thing that happened during such a difficult time! I just recommended it to two of my friends and they both really like the site and already are having some luck! Very happy with my experience on here!
I have chosen not to use their service, but I have received multiple texts requesting that I use an affiliate's link to sign up for roomster after responding to a legitimate appearing craigslist ad. I'm not an idiot, these ads look real and are blatantly deceptive advertising. If Roomster's affiliate policies encourage this type of behavior, I will hold them responsible for clogging up a public good (craigslist!) with SPAM
Roomster helped me find a really affordable room to rent rather fast. The site is easy to navigate and there are no hidden fees or tricks that they use to get more money from you. They also have a ton of rooms available so I m sure there is something on the site for everybody.
Very poor bad experience with Roomster. Out of about 20 ads posted, only 2 were verified, and all the pics of the young women were sexy type pics, and their bios were almost the same. I never got a response from any of them, then of course if you don't cancel the subscription (which I did thank God) you get charged 3 X more. Ugh stay away!
I have tried to edit my listing 10+ different times, and it never adjusts. Customer service said it's because I'm unable to include numbers in my description (which is terrible, how else can you describe a listing). However, even after adjusting for that, it doesn't work.
Also, my listing on the website shows as different than my listing on the app. Almost impressively bad.

Answer: These are untrue statements. We have asked our many satisfied customers to post their positive experiences about Roomster to counteract the negative, and mostly untrue statements posted about us. If you notice that Sitejabber has negative reviews of almost every company doing business in the united states. If it was all true, there would be no business left and everyone would be out of work. People never write good reviews, people love to be negative. Its sad.
Answer: Hi Aminah, Roomster did not post that ad on Craigslist, we did not create that link and there fore we can not offer support for it. This looks to be one of our affiliates, who should not be doing this. We will be removing this person from our affiliate program. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Answer: That makes little to no sense. Undeleted? What does that even mean? N you want to create an account after you deleted it? Go ahead.

Kirsten Mattick signed up on 10/23/2018 6:15:09 PM and canceled on 10/26/2018 2:41:16 PM. She decided that we were a joke because she didn't find a room in 3 days. That's not very fair. She also canceled her subscription so there are no future charges of any kind.
