I know a lot of people already said this but I'll say it just one more time, unless you want to be ripped off. If you already been a victim make sure you cancel your card so they can't take anymore money from u!
My college advisor told me about this great site Roomster that she recommends to all her students looking for places to rent. I found an amazing deal on a room to rent in NYC, cant believe I'm moving to the big apple! So excited!
You guys are thieves for charging money to read messages. I mean be up front about your services costing money don't bait and then switch to the fine print that's just rude. 5 day subscription, aka pay again if you don't find a place in 5 days... wack
It would seem your method of letting people sign up for free but charging them to read messages is ineffective because there is a huge majority of people who create profiles who never proceed further and makes this site less effective than other free sites. Either that or as suspected by many most of these profiles are fake to encourage people to subscribe. You've also removed the ability to enter numeric characters in the listing so you can't tell people the price of a Room if there's more than one or the ages of occupants which is absurd.
I signed up on this website looking for a room to rent or share in a home. I authorized them to list my profile a 3 day period for $5.95. I have just noticed that they have been charging me $29.95 per month for the last two months. I immediately began trying to contact Roomster customer service and to no avail could find no 800 number, it all has to be done by email (how convenient).
Why do companies have to be sneaky and steal honest peoples hard earned money in order to make a profit?
Roomster helped me find a really affordable room to rent rather fast. The site is easy to navigate and there are no hidden fees or tricks that they use to get more money from you. They also have a ton of rooms available.
Tried and trusted website that I can highly recommend first hand. Both my kids found better their current homes on here, and in different parts of the city. I know that the family will use this website again. We ran into some issues with our account and it was resolved within 24 hours. We are satisfied customers!
I have gotten many responses from men when my post clearly request a female roommate. This leads me to believe they don't read my post because they are computer generated. Plus none of the women respond back. Not even a no thank you!
It feels like false advertisement how this site works! Nothing worked on "free" platform... now that I paid, let's see if it is worth the money! "Free" should work at some level, not just as a bait and switch to strong arm people to switch to PAY and upgrade! Leaves BAD taste!
Was perusing the Internet and stumbled upon Roomster. I’m not even in the market for a room but I was very impressed with their site it was very user friendly and they had so many rooms available. I know this will be my first stop when my son needs to find some roommates after he graduates college this semester.
Issues accepting payments, first representative had me use multiple browsers. Second representative said you cant use a card that has been used on another account. Issue could have been fixed weeks ago with the correct staff. There is still spam on here and fake listings which is vexing considering the cost.
After I had a nightmare experience with a broker who tried to con me I gave Roomster a shot. After using this site I can definitively say that anybody who needs a place to rent need look no further. Brokers will be a thing of the past. This virtual marketplace for rooms and roommates is amazing. Not only can you personalize your settings so that you are matched only with high potential candidates based on your lifestyle and habits etc. but the design is so seamless even my grandmother could figure it out.
So so, I'm finding that the people I do get in touch with or the very few inform me their room was rented at least two months or more ago and the add is still on the website receiving hits. Not actually being kept up to date if you ask me
I’ve used Roomster two separate times now. Once when I first moved out of my parent’s house, and then again after I finished my degree and started my first job. Both times the process was pretty painless, convenient, and efficient. Subscriptions to the service were a great deal cheaper, and much more effective ill say, than going through a broker. The best part about Roomster is that I don’t have to waste my time going to see useless listings. I can find rooms that I like from the convenience of my home or office and for me that makes all the difference in the world. Running around getting everything I need done during the day is hard enough as it is, the last thing I need is to spend my time running through the city with a clueless broker when I could do it myself online for cheaper and better.
So I was going through my bank transactions making sure everything was okay, and I saw that I was charged $26.95 from Roomster after I already had paid for the 5-day upgrade ONLY! I did find my roommate on there which was rather pricey and misleading (another story) but I really hate when companies do that to customers! Stop tricking people into a service they no longer need anymore! Roomster also does not have a customer service number. I quit.
Like others have said, this site does not even deserve one star.
I've had the same issue as everyone else.
I paid for the 3 day subscription ($5.95) and after the 3 days, my card was charged for $29.95.
There is NO reason this site is worth $29.95 - your paying to view messages people send you that you can just as easily view on their site for free.
You're better off searching for housing on Craigslist.
To those who have had issues getting their money back, threaten to get your bank involved.
They will refund you.
I have a multiple bedroom house a few blocks away from my primary residence that I have used to rent out to local college students throughout the years. I have been using Roomster going on nearly 7 years now to list rooms in the house and find prospective tenants. Its always been fairly easy to use the site and I never have had any major complaints. One thing I will say is make sure you are choosing the right subscription for you because you don’t want to purchase the wrong one. At the end of they day I would recommend this site to anyone who asks.
I was unsure at first. Going through the process of finding people for your house can sometimes be a pain. No one wants to put a lot of energy into it, you just want it over and done with. I put an add up and on Monday morning and I had 3 people call me within a few hours and then endless emails kept pouring in. I interviewed people this week and by Sunday my room was rented out! Everything was so fast, efficient and streamlined! NO STRESS! And most of the people I met with were great. What more could you want?
I decided to do a 3 day subscription just so I could get contact information for 5 people I thought would be good choices. Well, today I checked my bank statement and noticed I was also charged 29.95 for a 30 day renewal... Thanks
It seems very promising at first, but do NOT waste your money on the site. The contact information is mostly the roomster mailbox & you won't get any responses.
Horrible site. As mentioned roomster is also about two other websites. The paid 15$ for the 15 day trial because I believe I would be able to find a ave to stay in desperate times. Long story short it was not beneficial so I stopped visiting the site UNTIL I received another automatic bill pay in the amount of 29$. That's frustrating when I don't even use their services and if I would have known any sooner that I would be automatically recharged I would have ended this agreement in more that enough time. The only way to contact roomster is via the "help desk" which I of course not have received a reply from. Do not use their services.it would not be a good free site let alone having to pay for it.

Answer: These are untrue statements. We have asked our many satisfied customers to post their positive experiences about Roomster to counteract the negative, and mostly untrue statements posted about us. If you notice that Sitejabber has negative reviews of almost every company doing business in the united states. If it was all true, there would be no business left and everyone would be out of work. People never write good reviews, people love to be negative. Its sad.
Answer: Hi Aminah, Roomster did not post that ad on Craigslist, we did not create that link and there fore we can not offer support for it. This looks to be one of our affiliates, who should not be doing this. We will be removing this person from our affiliate program. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Answer: That makes little to no sense. Undeleted? What does that even mean? N you want to create an account after you deleted it? Go ahead.
