My order did take some time to arrive, but this wasn't the problem with ProWinds. Their supplier was late. The unfortunate reality is that a music company such as this is at the mercy of suppliers. If they are slow, then the company in front takes the blame. I got in contact with them directly (best through their web site chat) and they made good on my order. I would do business with them again.
I purchased 4 saxophone necks from here in around November intending to return 3 and keep 1. I got 2 silver lacquer and 2 gold lacquer. The golds arrived within about a week, not a silver one in sight. Around December 12 or so, I finally get 1 of my silver necks. It turns out to be my favorite so I return the other gold necks. Now I'm not making this up but March 27, the last neck finally arrived; despite telling them to cancel the last neck. Now they haven't refunded my full order they owe me and I'm very upset but they're not replying to emails or phone calls.
This sax is unbelievable! It's a demo that looks and plays like brand new. The service was excellent, it arrived two days later. I couldn't be happier and I will be back.
I ordered a trombone mouthpiece, they charged my account, provided "order and tracking" information however, it seems I can't track the order, can't get anyone to return several emails or phone messages and haven't received the mouthpiece I paid for nearly a month ago! HORRIBLE COMPANY! Should by some miracle my opinion change I will update the review
My family purchased a Stradivarius Horn from this website. After they told me that, I was super nervous because of the other reviews about this website. However, the communication was fantastic. We talked to Mr. Dean Foster and worked everything thing out. He said the horn would ship from the Bach warehouse the following day after placing the order, and that's exactly what happened. Ordered on a Saturday and it came in the following Wednesday. Simply fantastic.
Pro winds is thee ultimate scam website. Wankers robbed me out of some good money in August it's November now haven't gotten anything, they don't answer their phones, wont reply to emails. If by some miracle they do eventually send my package I swear I still won't buy anything from them again
Ordering and returning items from this place was a hassle. Took about a month to get it here and when I tried to return it, it was accepted into the warehouse put for some reason the refund "wouldn't go through". I've tried to contact this company so many times through email, phone, and their online sales assistance. No response through phone or email. The only success was from the online sales assistance, but even then, they were only online for a few minutes at a time. Nonetheless, it was TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. They kept lying to me about how they were going to return the refund right away- except they ended not doing it, so I'd have to contact them again in a few days. When they actually returned the refund after I've been trying to get a hold of them, they for some reason sent the refund to seperate accounts even though I only used one to make the order. I asked them to fix this and they litterally said that they "had to go". I would not recommend wasting your time on this company. They have poor service and don't really care about you whatsoever. I was just trying to make a return and they couldn't even do that without wasting an entire month.
Bought a Yanagisawa Two20 from ProWinds and it was shipped in 3 days. Excellent speedy delivery. Was told by Dean that it was much better than Two10 that I was thinking of buying. Got a better deal too. Had to wait about a week for the mouthpiece but Dean said it would take that long maybe more. Overseas shipping and some of these companies can hold things up. I know this for a fact as I have experienced it myself depending on what you get. ProWinds has no control over these hold ups Im almost certain. People are spoiled with Amazon Effect instant gratification. Im not saying there could better communication to let people know but you got to have just a little patience sometimes. Just saying!
Anyway I got a great tenor sax for a great price and a manager who knows his stuff. I would do business with Dean Foster anytime. Thank you Dean.

I'm guessing the low prices are contributing to the problem - Pro Winds doesn't seem to have the employees to proactively communicate with customers about their orders if something is not in stock. It's also counterintuitive that the owner would spend all that time dealing with customer questions about their missing orders via phone and e-mail, when he could instead communicate information on backorders upfront, along with a projected ship date. Not good business practice.
I placed and order with ProWinds on April 30. I called on May 4 or 5 to inquire because it hadn't shown as shipped, even though I paid for expedited shipping. I was told it was temporarily out of stock but should arrive the and be shipped to me the following Monday, the 7th. It is now the 16th and I still have no word on the order. By the way, had I known it was out of stock I would not have ordered it initially. I wish there was a notice on the site that stated it was not in stock. This has happened on 2 previous orders. Each time I have been given excuses as to why the order wasn't fulfilled on time; out of stock, a large order came in right before mine, problem with the supplier... The results are the same: super slow shipping and poor communication. Never again.
Bought a few random trumpet accessories. A cup mute, valve oil, and a polishing cloth. They all came in about 5 days later. Can't complain one bit!
I ordered and paid for a Yamaha flute, but in the end it could not be shipped to New Zealand due to Yamaha policy. Dean responded well to my emails and refunded my money.
I recently ordered 5 Legere Tenor Signature Strength 3 reeds-which this quantity is always hard to find, but Prowinds had in stock and shipped the same day. I live on the East Coast and received the order in 2 business days using Free Shipping via USPS. I was able to apply a 15% discount to the order as well--ended up being a great deal on these reeds.
I recently ordered a Yamaha professional trumpet for my son for a middle school graduation gift. It arrived 4 days later. Had I read reviews on here beforehand I definitely would not have ordered from Prowinds but my transaction was wonderful.
Ordered an Alto mouthpiece and several other stuff on March 18. They charged my credit card immediately and my order went into cyber silence. Beginning of last week I told them that I would take legal action without any further delay if they didn`t get back to me asap.
In addition I wrote to Dean to tell him that I would organize a media accompanied visit in Stillwater MN. Yesterday he phoned me up, I live in Spain, to tell me, that he already had transferred the money back into my account.
This company is just a complete and utter fraud. Should be off the market.
I finally did get a complete refund from Pro Winds. They also gave me two boxes of free reeds. A spokesperson from the company called as well and apologized for all the problems. As I said in my review title - All is well that ends well!
I only order from Pro Winds if it is THE ONLY place I can find an Item. Orders take anywhere from weeks to months. There is NO communication. You don't know when or if you are going to get your order until it arrives.
I ordered one thing, after two weeks past. I haven't receive the item. I sent a couple of emails and left messages, no reply no answer.
Very bad company!
I ordered a chocolate brown leather Torpedo trumpet case with the leather music and mute case attachments from Dean & Pro Winds. I didn't opt for the shoulder pad or the optional conches. I find the strap is wide enough and I found a wide selection of conches online so I could personalize the case in my own way. For my money, this is the best trumpet case on the market, it is very sturdy, the leather is thick and stitched very well, the padding totally engulfs my trumpet and keeps it in place. The music folder attachment easily holds a full size music folder (my folder has more than thirty charts right now and the case can take a lot more (it also has a compartment for a highlighter and a pencil), and the mute bag easily holds my trumpet stand, stand light, and six of my mutes. The padding on the lid fits perfectly into the trumpet bell providing plenty of protection, and the pocket in the lid has plenty of room for some valve oil, a few mouth pieces, and my cleaning kit. Besides being very practical, it looks fantastic! Most of the band members and all of the horn players in the bands I play have checked out the case and they are all, to a person, impressed with the case. I couldn't be happier and would highly recommend this case. One interesting fact, I don't know how Dean does it, but he sells this case for less than ordering direct from Torpedo.
If only I had checked the reviews in advance of sending them any money. They never sent one item and the one item they did send was defective. They are not responding to my requests for a refund - they owe me over $110.00 This is a terrible, terrible company. Snappy looking website - but they do not delivery what you order. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE.
