Maxsold exhibits a mixed reputation, with positive feedback highlighting efficient communication, smooth auction processes, and satisfactory customer experiences for both buyers and sellers. Many users appreciate the value they find in auctions and commend the professionalism of the staff. However, significant concerns arise regarding misrepresentation of items, lost goods, and communication issues, particularly during pickups. Customers also express dissatisfaction with the handling of complaints and the company's response to service failures. Overall, while Maxsold has a solid base of satisfied users, addressing operational shortcomings and enhancing customer support could improve their reputation further.

I have been dealing with this company for years. They have always been extremely helpful at the pick up locations. I have had to call because I was running late 2 or 3 times and they were nice enough to wait a minute or two extra for me to get my stuff. One time I lost out and was hospitalized for 2 months after an emergency surgery. There was no way to recoup my items however they were nice enough to get me a nice sized gift card from Starbucks. First Class Organization all the way!
Been buying online with a few auction sites and have never ended up with any hidden damage or faulty devices from here. They sell only quality items no junk. I will buy again from MaxSold and refer many friends to their online auctions.
We have had many great experiences with purchases through MaxSold, even buying items for less then we thought we should, but thats how it goes for the seller. We do not resell, they are for our own home.
Unfortunately, our most recent experience did not go so well. We purchased three furniture items from a site an hour away from our home. Upon pickup time, one was missing. The staff recalled someone walking out with it, had her contact information and everything. I guess they don't validate that people are leaving with what they actually bought? Almost two weeks later now, the person who has our item agreed to exchange it with the item she left behind, the individual we are dealing with on this assumed we had it instead. Why would we have her item? I guess we would have been able to leave with it? The offer still stands for us to go retrieve our item, but i'm not accepting it. It was at the fault of MaxSold that it left the site with the wrong person and I want them to have it retrieved and delivered, or a full refund for all three pieces as compensation for the entire mess. Why should any of this be at my expense? There seems to be no taking responsibility for the situation. Through all the calls and emails, we have been made to feel as if this is our fault and they are doing us a big favour by tracking the item down. We've been forwarded to the COO now to try and get this resolved, lets see how it goes.
Just beware, if you get there and one or more items is already gone, good luck! Also, all the phone numbers on the site, all go to the same endless loop of not being able to get a real person unless you go the option of wanting to sell.
Update: COO agreed to refund for all pieces, but in return we are band from using Maxsold. I'm OK with that... Recently saw the missing piece being resold in another Maxsold auction.
I have bought multiple times at MaxSold since August 2015. Our apartment got enriched with cool stuff I couldn't afford otherwise.
At least twice each day I look on their website if news auctions start around my area.
The whole concept is genius.
- all auctions to start at $1
- fun lots put together
- great photos showing all details necessary
- amazing support with a problem I encountered (painting had small hole in it and I got all my money back from MaxSold)
- very organized staff on site and extremely respectful to client and seller's home.
- my wife and I are always so excited when it comes to the auction day when we sit on our sofa and have fun bidding
- when there is a bit in the last 2 minutes of an auction end it will automatically extend for another 2 minutes. This is very exciting and actually a big plus-point for the seller
Compared to other local overpriced auctions I went to, MaxSold is such a great idea for all parties involved. I hope for much more auctions to come in my area.
I have bought several items from 3 different Maxsold Auctions in Georgia. I love the items that I purchased. I was able to get great prices on items such as a 30+ piece toy wrestler figurine collection that I gave to my boys for only $31.00. This collection was worth over $200.00. I have found all the staff and Maxsold to be very friendly and helpful. I will continue to buy from Maxsold in the future.
I had hundreds of pieces to sell, 281 lots to liquidate my inventory: jewelry, textiles, statuary and religious furniture, in other word unusual lots. Dan and Sue, my Maxsold people, worked hard and efficiently and granted some flexibility for the specific properties of the inventory. Dan answered questions immediately on phone and by e-mail. I particularly liked not being involved in the pick up and viewing arrangements. If Dan and Sue had questions about the background of pieces they asked and always followed up. I was relieved when it was over and everything was gone and taken care of. Tekla
I have been a buyer on Max Sold for about 6 months now, the ads are honest and complete - if there is something wrong/worn/untested, they mention it - you don't often get to preview the items so this transparency is critical.
I have had to contact support a couple of times to inform them someone else is going to make my pick up and once due to discrepancies in a description - immediate results and 100% satisfied.
Also, the local employees (who by now know me to see me) are super nice.

I have purchased from Maxsold multiple times over the last year. There is so many good deals that I have to check their site every other day to see if there is any auctions in my area. I really love the work that they are doing and recommend it for everything.
I had posted a pretty negative review earlier today for a couple of reasons: First was the amount of the check we received after our auction. They took 41% commission from a relatively small estate auction they did for us last month. We thought that was too high. (I misread the contract clause regarding commissions - 3 times!, so part of it was my bad.)
Second was that we had called to discuss the results/commissions last week, left a message, and had not received a response. There were a few other issues as well, but that, basically, was it. No one likes to feel ignored. This afternoon I received a call from a gentleman in their corporate office who addressed each of our concerns, discussed some details, and explained their methodology. The software issue now makes some sense, but I'd like for them to find a better way to handle one-off bids. After our conversation and a little feather-smoothing (listening and understanding our viewpoint), my husband and I are more satisfied with the whole experience.
Auction bidding in my pj's + winning items whose beauty surpasses the photos = Great fun!
I have been using Maxsold for months now and have purchased many items through many auctions. Every time the item has been as described and everytime I am totally happy with my purchase.
I have referred many friends to this site and hey have experienced the same results.
I've also found some very unique and rare items that I now am delighted to have in my collection.
Love love love MaxSold. Have been following, bidding and acquiring items through this online auction site for a while now. I am hesitant to write a review for fear too many people will find out about it. From heavy equipment to cleaning items, you can find it all on Maxsold.
What I like most about this format is that unlike other sites such as Ebay, it isn't a matter of who times their bid at the last second - they have dealt with that. If a bid comes in in the last two minutes, the bidding gets extended. It evens the field for everyone.
I love my unique and one of a kind purchases from MaxSold. Now I have friends and neighbours asking me to keep and eye out for specific items. When my fridge died a few months back, I was able to replace it quickly and for a fraction of the cost of what it would be on Kijiji!
I have been following MaxSold and bidding on items for several months now. The experience has been easy and fun. The process is fair and the rules are clear (if you take the time to read them) and the prices are usually very good... there are deals to be found in just about every category you can think of. I've been fortunate to win several items and have been very happy with each one. The staff at the pick up locations have been friendly and helpful. I have NEVER had a bad experience. The staff go out of their way to make your pick up go smoothly. I would highly recommend MaxSold's online auctions to anyone looking for treasures they would not normally be able to afford. Great job MaxSold!
Have bid on a few auctions and have always had a great experience.
I was a bit nervous at first but my experiences with MaxSold has SOLD me on this way of bidding on auctions. This company has been professional at every step of the way; from the online bidding process, to payment, to invoice management, to pickup! And the pickups have always been fluent and easy to manage!
I have had a pleasant experience for very visit I have made to a Maxsold pick up location for auctions. The staff are very organized and helpful, in fact, at one particular pick up, I had purchased a sofa that was in a very awkward location in the house to remove. The staff helped supervise and brainstormed with us to make the extraction of the sofa as easy as possible. With a lot of skill, determination and elbow grease, the sofa was removed and now resides in my basement. The staff of Maxsold are very pleasant and beyond helpful with every experience Ive had. Thanks Maxsold! Keep up the good work!
I have bid and won on several items through MaxSold, and have always had a great experience.
They are my favourite online auction company and I like that their buyer's premium fee is only 10%. Website is easy to use and every time I have gone to pick up my items, the pickup is always very organized.
I have gone to pick-ups through other auction companies and when I got there, someone had stolen some of my items I had won. With MaxSold they have staff supervise and help you find the correct items, so this type of situation does not happen. I would highly recommend them!
I have enjoyed bidding on Maxsold auctions and will continue to do so. The pictures they post show the damage so there are no surprises at pick-up and the one time that I needed support afterwards (missing remote control for tv) the staff went above and beyond and found the remote! I love the deals that I get and expect to get at an auction. At pick-up, there are numerous staff and collecting items goes smoothly. I have to state that I have never seen a dirty home at pick, on the contrary the homes have been quite clean.
I have been a buyer of MaxSold for a while now. This is an easy to navigate, easy to bid and easy to pay for site. Their staff is always on site for pick up, they're helpful. They're fast, and for the most part they're all polite.
I would also like to say to the people that are unhappy, It is not MaxSold's fault that your stuff sells for less than you expected. When you put stuff up for auction, it is the buyers that determine how much $$ they are willing to pay for items. As a buyer I go to auctions so I can pick things up at greatly reduced prices, it's how auctions work.
If you win an auction on a large item, as a buyer it is YOUR responsibility to disassemble. If you by yourself can't do it in the allotted time, bring more people to help you. With more people disassembling goes faster. If something looks to heavy to move on your own, bring a friend to help. Common sense goes both ways, if you don't use yours, you have no one to blame but yourself.
I've bid on and won several wonderful items through this service. Always great, efficient, friendly service. I have no hesitation in recommending this to friends to either sell or buy.
Answer: The site states clearly that you must pick up your article at the specific time and place. If you cannot do that or arrange for someone to do it for you... then don't bid.
Answer: Definitely not on their youtube channel as they've removed the ability to comment. This alone was enough for me to steer clear.
Answer: Please see our past auction results at http://maxsold.com/past-auctions/ - every auction we've done is listed for public viewing. You will see the sell through rate for each auction, and you can calculate the percent sold. Our average sell through is 98.7%.
Answer: Winning bids are charged to the credit card on file right AFTER each auction ends, along with 10% buyers premium and the applicable retail sales tax for your region. The first time you bid at any of our auctions, your card will be pre-authorized for $1.00. However, it is only a bank authorization for validation, not a charge, and it is usually removed in about a week by your bank.
