I have used Max Sold before, but the first time I won a bid was a very good experience. There was plenty of email feed back regarding my winning bid: Full description of items in the lot, detailed sales receipt including taxes and commissions etc, step by step instructions and expectations, and finally a reminder the day before the scheduled pick up time. At pick up there were 5 friendly staff who were organized and very helpful. Couldn't have had a better experience.

I was an experienced buyer at MaxSold and was always pleased with their online auctions and how organized they were. So I thought I would try them out as a seller managed auction. Everything went smoothly, they were always there to answer questions as I prepared my auction catalog and when I had questions regarding pick-up. Every aspect of the auction process went smoothly.

Items with damage are not described as such. I have purchased items from them multiple times and am now just done. Items are always damaged in ways not described or pictured. Listing collectables as in good condition and not the case upon pick-up. With such relaxed rules around listings you would think they may be a little more flexible with bid removal on items like this. Nope! Beware and be vigilant with these people. They are trying to rip you off!

First off the staff are friendly and helpful. You really don't know what is going to be in the auction until you look. I've gotten some really cool stuff like a vintage record playing for $10. I check auctions daily

Game changer in liquidating items!

The ease of bidding and purchasing to the stress relief of having your items placed, photographed, displayed and picked up is outstanding.
From descriptions to customer service, hands down the best company I have dealt with in downsizing and liquidation.

Caveat Emptor

MaxSold's rules are designed to benefit the company at the expense of its customers. If one is unable to pick up during a pickup window, the merchandise is forfeited and goes to... who knows where - apparently to MaxSold employees. A week ago MaxSold employees expropriated $245 worth of paintings and a dorm fridge that I paid for. To facilitate the theft, the employees often "forget" to put up MaxSold signs making it more difficult for customers to locate a pickup site.

False advertisement is not uncommon. It happened to me twice. The first time I bid $500 on a painting and ended up with a $1 print. The only people who knew that this was a print were MaxSold insiders who did not bid. Apparently, MaxSold allows its employees to bid against their customers. More recently, I paid $60 for sterling on a porcelain coffee set. It turned out that the set was painted with sterling paint. After I emailed a complaint to MaxSold's customer service, I was told that since I removed the merchandise from the premises, I was not eligible for a refund, as though I would be able to replace genuine sterling with identically looking sterling paint.

I buy alot when I'm out of town on business so I rely on friends and family to pick items up once in a while. One auction sold me a lot of "silver" dollars, a real auction house would stipulate "nickel" dollars.

Another time, my buddy went to pick up an antique secretary hutch... your given a very strict 5-10min window to pick up your stuff. When my friend showed up there was a 3 hour lineup because it was a gated community and technically illegal to do what they were doing. Not too mention there was nothing antique about the piece. The nickel plated Robertson screws gave that away.

Total dog and pony show!

I purchased some things from the real estate agent. These things were put on a list and given to Maxsold. They did not list them in the auction. When I arrived with the agent. After they were done with the sold items from the auction… my things and many other things were gone. Tried to resolve this with maxsold. Got many e mails back. Bunch of double talk and no answer to what happened to the missing items. Never use anyone that would steal things from you for their own personal gain. Horrible business practices..

On April 6,2022 I won with my bid of $55.00 a gorgeous heavy wrought iron and fabric room divider from Maxsold Auctions. On April 9 with my buyers invoice marked paid I arrived at the maxsold auction pickup and learned another buyer who purchased lamps from the auction walked out of the pickup location with his auction AND my auction purchase as well. Maxsold's attitude towards the my loss of my auction purchase was SO SAD TOO BAD. Take your refund and get out of our face... NEXT!
I refused Maxsold's offer of a refund for my stolen auction purchase and when I told them i would fight for the return of my stolen auction purchased; Maxsold cut me off at the knees and refunded my credit card in an attempt to end the matter right then and there leaving me with no other recourse than to accept the loss. When I called asking to speak with either a suppervisor or a manager i was to; ld they are all in a meeting and are not availible to come to the phone. BUYER BEWARE! If the person bidding against you loses an auction item to you... That person has the opportunity to steal your auction purchase which they desire at auction pick-up... as long as they arrive at auction pickup before you do to claim your purchase.
A maxsold employee told me this happens ALOT. And when it does happen MAXSOLD sides with the thief who stole your auction purchase!

For the past year I have bought lots of items from various Maxsold sales. As a prolific buyer I have been able to experience both good and bad sale days. All of the Maxsold run sales I have been to have been fantastic. Not only are the workers fantastic but they are helpful in making sure you get all of your purchased items. However, if you buy big or heavy items you need to know ahead of time that the Maxsold workers are not allowed to help you with them whether taking them apart or moving them so bring your own help. Additionally, for any Maxsold sales you need to ensure that you get there at the time they have allotted for pickups because they will only be there for that period of time so plan ahead and don't be late. Sometimes the parking at the sales is very limited and difficult with how many buyers may be showing up at one time. So, make sure to factor that into the time frame you need to have in order to pick up your items for a sale when signing up for a time slot. Also, it never hurts to look at google maps beforehand to get an idea of what kind of parking may be available. Additionally, pay attention to whether or not the sale is Maxsold run, or seller managed as that can make quite the difference in the time it may take you to pick up your items especially in the case of seller managed sales. If the seller managed sale is run by a repeat seller than many times the pickup is extremely efficient, however, on some of the seller managed sales run by a first-time seller on Maxsold it can take them an extremely long time to get you your items. So, factor in these aspects especially if you have multiple pickups on the same day. All in all, Maxsold is an amazing site to get items cheaper whether for resale or for yourself. I hope this helps anyone curious about buying from Maxsold.

Missing items
April 5, 2022

I have spent thousands of dollars at maxsold auctions recently i had a purchase and due to gall bladder surgery sent my son this was not a seller managed this was maxsold he was given a box and told this is your lot after getting home items were missing i sent an email and was told they were checking with the seller and never responded with feedback. I can say in the past I have purchased and the maxsold employee say you also have this but on this occasion they did not they had no idea what was or was not in your lot. If I pay an auction fee I expect the employee to know what is mine and what is not. There are alot of other auction sites that are far more professional. I will not use this site ever again.

Bad description

Purchased a couch with description of 10/10 like new, far from the description took 14 pictures of marks scratches down to the bare and none of these were in the pictures when considering buying. Complaint answer you buy as is, I could have made these marks didn't complain enough when pu. Was given 10% refund didn't cover truck rental as these were couches Very disappointed customer

Dissapointed

So although my bid should have been completed and item won. 12 minutes past with 4 bids to rival my bid, I lost the item. Company did not follow their own 'rules' even with their 'soft bid' closing. Very disappointing, I would not use this site.

If a bid is placed on an item during the last two minutes of an auction, bidding will be extended for an additional two minutes. The lot will not close until bidding is static for two minutes.

Included the link above so you can see the end results. MaxSold did nothing besides run some green tape between huge lots with no item count no details to show accurate descriptions, most the depression glass milk glass statements I had to go add myself. After the process completed I understood why the lack of professionalism, the contractors who came out and loted / taped were the primary bidders/winners on the majority of the lots. So maxsold gets 30% of total sales, 700 flat fee, and could not market accordingly and get more than their hired staff interested. In addition the buyers also have to pay a percentage of the winning bid to maxsold. The bidder on the garage lots was here a full day past the cut off of pickup window. Just unprofessional all the way around. If you want to just give your stuff away send me pictures I might haul it away and save you some fees.
