Maxsold exhibits a mixed reputation, with positive feedback highlighting efficient communication, smooth auction processes, and satisfactory customer experiences for both buyers and sellers. Many users appreciate the value they find in auctions and commend the professionalism of the staff. However, significant concerns arise regarding misrepresentation of items, lost goods, and communication issues, particularly during pickups. Customers also express dissatisfaction with the handling of complaints and the company's response to service failures. Overall, while Maxsold has a solid base of satisfied users, addressing operational shortcomings and enhancing customer support could improve their reputation further.

I have bid on many auctions via Maxsold. Won a couple, and the bargains I got were off the scale! The items I won, I got for less than one third their value! It's always very easy to pick up after the sale end. I will continue to watch auctions and bid! The staff at pickup is always polite and professional.
Without communicating with your staff first, you called up and rudely spoke to my friend who was in need of your services and in a tough spot because of recent life circumstances and you ordered your staff to leave (when your staff stated to him they could do the job with no issues and didnt understand what the big deal was). He was willing to pay extra fees required but your representative was entirely too rude. My friend is a decorated and disabled Vietnam vet and your companies rude and disgraceful treatment of him will be made widely known and by many. Because of this I most highly do not recommend this company.
Twice now I had a winning bid and the sellers have backed out! Buyers are given very strict guidelines to follow and are held accountable but apparently the buyers are not- don't waste your time- Facebook marketplace is a more creditable site for buying
I've won several items on MaxSold and I have been satisfied with my purchase every time. The webpage is easy to use and they let you know exactly how much your item will be, with the premium charge even before you agree to bid. The staff at the pick-up locations are very friendly and ready to help you find your items. If you bid smart, you can get some really good deals. I've flipped many items I've won and re-sold them on eBay for a nice profit!
Armani, a member of their sales staff, has called me 8 or 9 times. Each time calling from a different phone number in an attempt to garner my business. This is an over-aggressive approach to sales. I don't appreciate it all. It's pathetic, desperate and embarrassing. For every additional call, email and text I receive from this company I will find a new site to poorly rate the MaxSold business.
Our apologies. Our automated calling system had a glitch which caused us to call the same numbers repeated today. Because our team members make hundreds of calls a day, they were not aware (until now) that you had been called that many times. Our experience is that potential Sellers have very little time and so we do try to connect with them as quickly as possible. We are sorry for the volume of callbacks you received.
I've been buying on Maxsold for years now, it's like a treasure hunt! My favourite being the MCM items, what a ƒabulous place to decorate on a budget. The staff is always friendly and helpful, if you have an issue the team leader is always professional and quick to help. Included is a picture of one of my favourite buys, thanks Maxsold!
Maxsold has bumped their buyer premium to 15%. FOR WHAT? Just another money grab (GREED). I will stay with the other online auctions at 10% for example midland auctions, shackeltons auctions in Stratford and bid2buy from selkirk and area.
To Whom It May Concern,
We appreciated having you as a customer and are sorry you have no wish to have us serve you further.
The last 8 years of our 50+ year history have seen MaxSold grow from a small town family business to a team of over 600 members and hundreds of thousands of bidders (just like you) in over 35 metros across North America.
In growing, we’ve significantly increased local employment, continuously upgraded our technology and added substantially to our support team to deliver higher service levels - all without changes to our commissions. Meanwhile, wages have steadily increased and regional competition continues to charge either significantly higher buyer’s premiums (typically 20% to 30%) or higher hidden/other fees (like exorbitant shipping costs) or both! - all without a corresponding benefit to you - the bidder.
In response to the market, all auctions closing on or after October 1st 2018 will have a 15% Buyer’s Premium which will allow us to continue to create local employment, build on our technology and give you more access to buying opportunities all starting at $1. This fee will be applied to all hammer prices unless otherwise specified.
This change will allow us to continue building a service our customers appreciate and need. On behalf of the MaxSold team, we thank you again for your past support. We wish you happy and successful bidding!
Sincerely,
Maxsold Inc.
We used Maxsold for an estate sale this month and I'm so glad we did. 95% of everything we listed sold. On the pick-up day, the only people coming to the house are people who have already bought and paid for items - no lookie-loos or nosy neighbours! I found the whole process from star to finish very easy. Would highly reccomend Maxsold!
I purchased a couple items and pickup has smooth. Staff worked quickly to get my items and even assisted bringing them to my car.
. I recently joined Maxsold and found that the whole site is very easy to navigate, and they had a lot of items that I have been looking for. The whole process of bidding was super easy, and you don't have to stay on the website to keep an eye on the auction, if you bid, and someone happens to outbid you, Maxsold instantly sends an email to you letting you know that you have been outbid, and the email has a link to bring you directly to the auction page where you can actually bid higher on the item, as well as was on option to have a max bid. I was in high heaven seeing items that I was interested in and being able to bid on them was even more awesome. And the bids did not start high, they start at $1.00. I won 4 I received an email as to the fact that I won, and information on going to pick up my items. Lots and was so excited to go pick up my items. That day, unfortunately, my vehicle broke down, and I was not able to pick up my items, and I received a phone call from Maxsold reminding me about the items that I needed to pick up, I explained my situation to them, and they completely understood, they instantly sent me a refund form in my email, and after I filled it out, they had my refund process completed before I knew it. I could not have been happier. I feel like Maxsold goes way and beyond my expectations. Keep up the great work Maxsold!
Very friendly staff and easy peasy way to buy!
The communication is easy, driving to pick up the piece and the staff there were great!
The site is reasonably well laid out and easy to navigate. Often times with downsizing you can run into furniture or things you might need, but a fair number of odd knick-knacks too, which is what I love to look for. Bidding itself is easy and depending on how many other people are in your mindset, you can score things for a great deal.
It was really fun to bid on something and win! I won the bid on some wonderful vintage Christmas decorations and tree ornaments. Picking up was quick and easy, MaxSold had everything organized for a no stress pick up. It was like Christmas morning when I got home and went through the containers. There were many things in the box that didn't show on the photos online. I can't wait until I bid and win again!
I was leery of buying from an on-line catalog, but gave it a try. I got a beautiful love seat sleeper sofa for $22! It is SO me! I'm hooked on MaxSold!
I am looking for the objects of the Second World War, whether uniforms, weapons, ornaments, nothing related to this historical fact, this page is great, there is a bit of everything, also their auctions are great!
The price is always right, the variety is endless, and there are always so many neat finds. I love this website for its features, such as the $1 minimum bid and the soft close to avoid bid sniping. I've appreciated Kijiji for a while now, but this site seems to be the way of the future.
I discover Maxsold about 2 years ago and have become a regular buyer. I just love that they start everything at $1.00 and let the customers decide on the value! I've picked up some great buys, and sadly have been outbid on some treasures! I regularly check for auctions in my area and have loads of fun treasure hunting!
I have picked up several items from various auctions and am pleased how organized and efficient the processes have been.
I started as a buyer and became staff! Auctions are easy to bid on, and the revamped website is great. It's also a great place to work, with good people on all ends of the business. Love me some Maxsold
They do a fabulous job in the presentation. You really know what you are buying. I will take issue with the potential ambiguity in wording for electrical products. I bought a pair of Klipsch speakers for $450. The description says the speakers are working... quote "as per the seller"
When I got them home they were not. We have not deduced why and will investigate further when we have time. The description lacked info on the tweeters being non original and that they were not attached to the body of the speakers.
Its an auction therefore everything is "As is" so I am basically screwed. You are basically gambling on online auctions.
Many goods are not checked and one should never take the word of a seller. Of course you will miss many potential buys because others will not be so careful. The answer is to give money back if not working when sellers says it is. Or let us come and check the product out ourselves.
They also misuse the word art and print. A print is exactly what it is. A mechanical reproduction of an original maybe. Art is surely a piece crafted by the maker or producer. If you are careful there are many bargains. Furniture is an obvious. In fact anything outside of electrics and that described as art, is a safe bet.
Answer: The site states clearly that you must pick up your article at the specific time and place. If you cannot do that or arrange for someone to do it for you... then don't bid.
Answer: Definitely not on their youtube channel as they've removed the ability to comment. This alone was enough for me to steer clear.
Answer: Please see our past auction results at http://maxsold.com/past-auctions/ - every auction we've done is listed for public viewing. You will see the sell through rate for each auction, and you can calculate the percent sold. Our average sell through is 98.7%.
Answer: Winning bids are charged to the credit card on file right AFTER each auction ends, along with 10% buyers premium and the applicable retail sales tax for your region. The first time you bid at any of our auctions, your card will be pre-authorized for $1.00. However, it is only a bank authorization for validation, not a charge, and it is usually removed in about a week by your bank.
Answer: Hi Peter, We found that when minimum bids or reserves are put on items, they typically go unsold. For more information on why we start our items at $1 check out this link: http://maxsold.com/reserve Here are some Seller FAQ's https://support.maxsold.com/hc/en-us/sections/200632154-Seller-FAQs You may also reach out to our sales team directly at our toll-free number 1-877-257-7799 ext 2. Answer: $700 + 30% if they do the photos and pick-up. If you do the work on your side it is $300 or 30% whatever is higher. It is near the bottom of this link. https://get.maxsold.com/sell-with-maxsold/
MaxSold.com online auctions provides local expert help to sell goods through our hyper-local online auction service when downsizing, estate sale or clearing business inventory.
A Seller not honoring their side of the transaction certainly is a disappointing outcome and we are sorry this buyer has experienced this twice. Maxsold does it’s best to determine a seller’s ‘FIT’ with our services (Example “FIT” check at www.maxsold.com/start), however, when a seller is either dishonest (themselves and/or us) regarding their priorities (we deliver time, not price, control) or when there is an actual change in circumstances outside the sellers control (theft of goods by a family member, damage to goods (flooding, etc.), location denies the sale to continue, etc.), we have to ensure we prevent more wasted time for all.
Again, this is a rarity at less than 1% of all auctions and we are continuing to refine our FIT questions to ensure Seller’s are setup for success.

MaxSold continues to reinvest all funds made in the pursuit of its vision to Sell. Everything. Simply for downsizing and estate clients without judgement:

Finally - I would suggest that, even with these rare occurrences, less time is wasted using the Maxsold process than almost any alternative as it only takes seconds to place a bid and, in general, there is no wasted time waiting on site for an item you may not get (like an an estate sale or live auction model). Even on Facebook, you aren’t guaranteed items as the transaction is still based on the trust between a Seller and a Buyer - the difference with Maxsold is that we are hands on in trying to manage it to make sure it’s successful.
