Maxsold exhibits a mixed reputation, with positive feedback highlighting efficient communication, smooth auction processes, and satisfactory customer experiences for both buyers and sellers. Many users appreciate the value they find in auctions and commend the professionalism of the staff. However, significant concerns arise regarding misrepresentation of items, lost goods, and communication issues, particularly during pickups. Customers also express dissatisfaction with the handling of complaints and the company's response to service failures. Overall, while Maxsold has a solid base of satisfied users, addressing operational shortcomings and enhancing customer support could improve their reputation further.

I'm an auction addict but relatively new to Maxsold. Although the site is easy to navigate I've had a few questions and there was an email from Maxsold I needed resent after my computer crashed. The customer service has been outstanding. Maxsold was uber quick to respond to both to my original messages and to the few follow ups that followed.
I've dealt with a couple of other auction houses here in Toronto, the quality of service is sketchy and depends entirely on which employee answers the phone. Sometimes you get lucky, often you don't but I ended up communicating with several of the staff through several emails and all of them were great to me.
Not once did a wait more than a few minutes for assistance. I think that constitutes outstanding customer service.
It's a good place for sellers who want to sell stuffs quickly and good for buyers who wants to buy used stuffs at good price locally.
Everyday I'm looking t their website to see what things others are selling. Sometimes you find something you need and other time, things you want and is in good condition. Bidding is easy and pick is hassle free
Great for locating auctions in close proximity to your location, but also across different states. Ample time to research reasonable sales price for bidding. More times than not, you get better bang for your buck, even with sales fee, tax, etc... plus lots of items boxed together for one price.

I had a great experience the very first time I used MaxSold, and now I'm telling everyone about it. (It's one of those great ideas that I wish I'd thought of first.)
I bought a beautiful 8-person set of dishes (china I plan to use for everyday). When I arrived for the pick-up, it was already boxed for me, and there were two men willing to carry it out to my car! (Of course, the seller invited me to open the boxes and check everything.) I also picked up a crystal platter, still in its original box, and two champagne flutes.
I'm hooked! What a great way to ensure previously-loved items are still being used (making it easier on the sellers), and terrific for young people just starting out to furnish their place at a lower cost, and keeps stuff out of landfill. How much better can it get?
I love using the Maxsold website to find great finds for Christmas, my home, and gifts. The website is easy to use and the staff is super friendly!
I live it and I need it. I got into MaxSold auction and can't stop. The items offering are usually great and worth much more than you get then for. Ideal for eco buying or resell. Recommend!
I always have a good experience with Maxsold auctions. Their team is nice, friendly and helpful. Thank you and keep up the good work!
I have purchased from dozens and dozens of MaxSold auctions. Yes, there is a difference in the MaxSold run auctions and the owner run auctions. I have had a few times where the items were damaged or not as stated. Each time, the issues were quickly resolved to my satisfaction and with respect. I would tell the entire world about MaxSold, but then, it would increase the competition. So I keep this best-kept secret to myself. I do brag about the bargains I get, however. Highly recommended.
Professional, courteous and very helpful. They even remember my name. They take me right to my item and are always there to help carry the items.
As a seller I was very excited to have Maxsold hold an auction for the contents of my deceased parents. Talk with a gentleman who sent the contract to me to review. Reviewed contract called back with some questions which were answered. Signed the contract and set the date for the photography and putting things in lots, auction dates and pick up date. When they came to do the photos, they seemed to rushed and were told by the coordinator to put things in large lots--I understood things would be put in lots but not as large as they were. Items that should have been in the auction were not photographed. (Now I am glad they were not) Reviewing the pictures took a lot of time and they were not of good quality and did not show the items in a flattering manner. Should have pulled more lots than I did. The auction was a BIG disappointment. Many valuable items sold way way below what they were worth. Once the auction began I tried to call the coordinator had to leave messages but those messages were never returned. She was very prompt to return calls before the photograph session and the beginning of the auction.
Disappointed also because their website indicated regular bidders and not being experienced with anything like this, thought that Maxsold had bidders that they would notifiy with specific collectibles. Many items did not sale which is a blessing we will hold our own yard sales.
Again, I would NOT recommend this company.
To start off. I want to say i have spent over $1700 on 20 auctions in last 2.5 years. Lately. There have been a lot of "seller run" auctions... which i didnt get at the time... but are the biggest scams on the internet. These people get to list... and take pictures. Of all of their items... and say whatever they want. And no matter how bad the item is... maxsold will do nothing for you.
Case in point... i spent $300+ on 3 computers that were listed "great for a student". I was a chromebook. The other 2 were apple. When i picked them up i realized the chromebook had no power cord... and there was no way to tell how old the apples were. Turns out. They were so old... they were no longer supported by apple... and couldnt even download the newest safari... which means they were incapable of even using a web browser. I was given a $66 refund. Basically "we know you got hosed... but you arent getting paid because you didn't plug the computers in when you picked them up" (i posted a picture of their response). So the only way these were ever "good for a student" is if the student was studying "how to disassemble ancient computers". No responsibility from this company... they basically take their 10% on top of what you bid in exchange for the picture they post! No standing behind their VIP members (yes they asked me to be one)... Or anyone for that matter... just word their items all funky. Like "untested"(that being said... this certain lot DID NOT say untested... but made you assume that they were all in working order). It's a SELLER RUN auction. Please tell me how they are untested? I will now be filing a complaint with the BBB... and my credit card company since the REFUND button on their website is just as pathetic as the rest of the company.
Unless you have a great eye looking at horrible photography... stay away from the used car lots of auction sites. BUYER AND SELLER BEWARE.
UPDATE (picture 3): I ended up getting a FULL REFUND... AND getting banned! How very 3rd grade of them.
UPDATE #2: IF you take a chance with them. And get screwed like I did... just... in their words... "threaten" to contact your credit card company. You will surely get blacklisted... but you will get your money back.
Maxsold has two models - Maxsold Managed and Seller Managed. In one offering Maxsold is never on site and therefore has no visibility of the items sold. In the other, our teams catalog and thus have a bit more awareness of the items. That said, regardless of who is cataloging, both honest mistakes and dishonest actions can occur - thus, Maxsold uses a transparent claims process that has worked for centuries in the live auction world - specifically, the buyer can inspect the item in full view of the auction staff, other buyers (and sometimes the Seller) and make a claim (partial/full refund) if the item is found to be in a condition other than what was described before leaving the site. In both the bidder terms (www.maxsold.com/terms) and on the buyer invoice it states:
CLAIMS: ENSURE YOU INSPECT items at pickup (and preview if available) and IMMEDIATELY inform the MaxSold team (or Seller if Seller Managed) of any issues related to mis-cataloging of condition (remembering that you are purchasing used items in AS IS WHERE IS condition). By departing from the pickup site you acknowledge that you have all your items and that you are satisfied with them and/or have brought up issues with the Lead on site. NO CLAIMS ARE PERMITTED AFTER REMOVING ITEMS FROM THE PREMISES as condition issues cannot be validated once items are released into your possession. If required, bring an expert to validate purchases at pickup. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of the Seller.
This ensures fairness and transparency to both the buyer and the seller. When a buyer accepts an item without inspection, they are waving any potential claim issues as, once the item leaves, there’s no way for Maxsold or the seller to know when the (potential) issue was created. Was it lost in transit? Damaged on the way home? Or is it merely a buyer trying to take advantage of the Seller after ignoring a perfectly transparent opportunity to make a claim.
Bidders that accept and live by the terms love that everything starts at $1 with the highest bidder winning. It’s a fair and transparent model for those who can accept and abide by the terms and conditions laid out (and agreed to) prior to bidding.
The lot in question is available for review below - as an independent looking at this, ask yourself if you would walk away with a $250+ purchase unless you had confirmed it was exactly what you expected if you knew that was your only change to make a claim?

The issue is, if the buyer had concerns about cords, serial numbers, support from apple, working condition, etc. - it all could have been validated on site. In this case, the buyer chose not to do that. Despite this, Maxsold provided a partial refund (against policy). Finally, when the Seller used threatening language and made us aware that they would reverse their credit card, we removed them due to not accepting any responsibility for their action / inaction to deal with the problem on site, during the pickup, as promised by them in the terms. Had the buyer taken at least partial responsibility and not threatened to breach their agreed to terms and conditions again, they would not have been banned.

I was bored one day and decided to go online and look up if there was such a thing as an online auction, to my surprise there are many. MaxSold however was the easiest to join and starting to bid was just as easy. The bidding starting at $1.00 for each individual item is really great, but can be overwhelming for someone new to auctions as I was and I started bidding on all the things that appealed to me I was outbid a lot and I also outbid others. All in all it's quite exciting and it's a good thing there are so many more people bidding or I'd have to get another residence to put all my treasures in. One thing I really love about MaxSold is the people that work for them. They are all very lovely people and they honestly do their best to make me feel special at every pickup after the auction has ended. I would recommend MaxSold and their employees to anyone and everyone they are top notch in my eyes. They keep their word and do what they can to help you get the most enjoyment out of purchasing treasures through an online auction. MaxSold is legit and if you haven't joined the MaxSold community yet you may be missing out on that one special thing you may never have found without it.
My friend bought 3 over the shoe racks because maxsold listed it as "new over the door racks". I picked up the items for her as she can't drive. The items were in a box when I picked them up. Took them to my friend and she immediately inspected them. All three were missing the hooks that go over the door. As it was late in the evening she waited until the next day to call. She was told to fill out the return fund form which she did. Now they are saying they are refusing to return her money! They say all items should be inspected on pick-up. This ridiculous when you are in someone elses home with a number of other people picking up items. If they sell the items as new it is there job to inspect them otherwise don't list it as new. BUYER BEWARE!

They loved the easiest of closing a business. Auctioned everything right down to the front counter. You save on storage and labor of clearing everything out! Wonderful people. They help you every inch of the way!
MaxSold is a great company that provides the loved objects of the people with a second chance to be loved and appreciated by a new owner.
I have attended several MaxSold auctions and been pleased with every one of them. Attended in my city plus other cities with 80 miles, service always the same, second to none.
I bought two table lamps on the Maxsold site. It was easy to bid and the two minute extension brought fairness to the auction, making it very similarly to a live auction. I arrived at the scheduled pickup time and was pleased there was no lineup. I was in and out in less than three minutes and the items were exactly as presented on the auction site.
I have been buying from Maxsold (previously named Youbidlocal) since 2012. They have always been very professional - whether it's their online bidding site, up to the second winning or losing bids, the rapid purchase receipts once bidding closes, and their very personable customer service group on pickup. I really can't understand why there are any negative comments on them. I give them 10 out of 10.
I have been a client for almost 6 months and I am totally hooked. This is a great way to furnish a home with quality goods and furniture
Answer: The site states clearly that you must pick up your article at the specific time and place. If you cannot do that or arrange for someone to do it for you... then don't bid.
Answer: Definitely not on their youtube channel as they've removed the ability to comment. This alone was enough for me to steer clear.
Answer: Please see our past auction results at http://maxsold.com/past-auctions/ - every auction we've done is listed for public viewing. You will see the sell through rate for each auction, and you can calculate the percent sold. Our average sell through is 98.7%.
Answer: Winning bids are charged to the credit card on file right AFTER each auction ends, along with 10% buyers premium and the applicable retail sales tax for your region. The first time you bid at any of our auctions, your card will be pre-authorized for $1.00. However, it is only a bank authorization for validation, not a charge, and it is usually removed in about a week by your bank.
Answer: Hi Peter, We found that when minimum bids or reserves are put on items, they typically go unsold. For more information on why we start our items at $1 check out this link: http://maxsold.com/reserve Here are some Seller FAQ's https://support.maxsold.com/hc/en-us/sections/200632154-Seller-FAQs You may also reach out to our sales team directly at our toll-free number 1-877-257-7799 ext 2. Answer: $700 + 30% if they do the photos and pick-up. If you do the work on your side it is $300 or 30% whatever is higher. It is near the bottom of this link. https://get.maxsold.com/sell-with-maxsold/
MaxSold.com online auctions provides local expert help to sell goods through our hyper-local online auction service when downsizing, estate sale or clearing business inventory.
In addition to taking accepting this feedback from our Seller, it’s important to provide the following information for transparency for others that may be reading this. It’s an unfortunate reality that the market doesn’t always pay a seller what a seller thinks is a fair price for individual things (or perhaps even in aggregate) under a competitive auction model (this is true for any auction company). Maxsold does its very best to provide both a detailed outline of our process (www.maxsold.com/sell) and share our past auction data (www.maxsold.com/past) to prepare sellers for the realities of the market when items must be sold. Sellers have both financial and emotional attachments to items and so our job is to sell only those items they need to part with - typically items that will soon be a liability due to a move / sale of real estate / etc. as selling the items avoids additional, ongoing, logistical and/or storage costs. Our model, which includes selling everything to the highest bidder regardless of price, guarantees our sellers a finite and transparent experience that passes the logistical burden onto the buyers as they MUST arrive and remove, with their own resources, all of their purchases from the sellers location during a short time window agreed to by the Seller. This saves hundreds (if not thousands) in labor alone. The other elements mentioned were: lotting - covered in our contract and agreed to that this is at Maxsold’s sole discretion, removing items from the sale - which makes the entire sale less interesting to the bidding public, and disappointment with images - which can be augmented by the seller at this sole discretion if they wish).
Where other solutions try to control prices while having no control over time of sale, we give the seller control of time while giving up control of price to market competition. For people who have items that will soon cost them to hold onto, this is the most economic (and green) solution to the problem.

Feel free to check out the results of this auction for yourself. This auction was managed transparently through an out of state family member (an impossibility with other service providers) and a local family member. Additionally, our experience suggests there weren’t other 3rd party sale of goods options for this seller (as others would have denied service or cherry picked goods on the basis of lack of ‘mix/fit/value’ for their models). We are transparent with all our results and, although we are confident that a 3rd party professional appraiser would agree that our results were fair value, we are ultimately sorry that our seller is disappointment in this case:
