These are nothing but filthy scam artists.
I signed up for a free trial. I found their site was broken: The online tool was fine, but the exporter was buggy and broken, so I cancelled. This is good evidence, in retrospect, that they are scam artists, because I have coded by own format converters. It is not nearly the most difficult thing you could program.
Two weeks later they charged over $40 to my account.
These are the filthiest kinds of criminals and I can assure you that if this isn't resolved soon, there will be a lawsuit. I have already contacted a lawyer. I've never been scammed like this and I want to make sure these criminals get what they deserve.
I initially signed up for a one month trial and for some reason my membership was holding on for a year.
I realized that this it was my fault not checking my credit card billing thoroughly enough, so I said to myself:
Ok, wasting this GPD 255 was stupid, so at least get an invoice to deduct your taxes...
But this is not possible with Livecareer. After 8 mails back and forth they told me:
"If you wish to have an invoice of the transactions that were made you will need to contact your bank. Unfortunately we do not make invoices, we truly apologize for the inconvenience."
Overall experience:
The generated CV was nice, but regarding the monthly subscription model, billing and invoicing it rounds up as:
A scam company sitting on Bermuda and not issuing any invoices - and most probably doesn't pay any taxes.
We appreciate you sharing your experience with us, Tobias. We strive to deliver A+ customer service and apologize if we haven’t met that standard. We’d like to help you address your concern so you can have a great experience with us, please contact us at https://www.livecareer.com/contact-us
I had a great experience on this site. The software was very helpful in guiding me to create an appealing resume and the phone customer service was super easy. I will use it again and recommend to others.
Suggestions: The Live Chat was not useful --waited 5 minutes but no one ever showed up. It would be nice to have a tab function within the the resume sections. I wanted to line up some things down several lines of test and had to do it by pushing the space bar. Which wasn't very effective because the spacing is different while working in the program than when it actually prints up.
Hi Marcia H.,

Hi,
I used your website to write up my resume which I was quite happy with and cancelled my membership afterwards. I was then surprised to see that 2 weeks later, you had charged my credit card approximately $33.
Upon emailing you, I did not get a reply and to be honest am getting quite annoyed and exasperated as I thought I had cancelled this subscription and yet when I question this, no one replied.
Not happy.
Hi Helen,
We apologize for the inconvenience if you haven’t gotten any reply via email regarding your cancellation request, but please contact us immediately. We will be happy to honor this to the full extent. This company is the biggest rip off I'm like a lot of people ripped off, I spent all morning on this supposedly free CV writer to find at the end it cost £1.95 which I was not happy about but thought ah well I'll pay it now I've put all this time in it. Then I was charged 22.95 this month when I went on chat I got a sharp answer telling me I hadn't read the subscription correctly. Hopefully its been cancelled. Watch out everybody
Dear Diane,
Thanks for your comments.
Our free account gives you the opportunity to try out our resume builder before deciding to purchase. If you like what you see, we ask you to pay for a subscription. The ability to print, email, or download your resume are only listed as a feature of the paid subscription and are not listed as a feature of the free trial. We're sorry for any confusion.
The subscription that you paid for £1.95 has a recurring billing feature and you can cancel at any time. Once you cancel you will no longer be charged. We explain that the subscription is auto-renewing, underneath the description of the subscription in bullet form. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings! We send out cancellation confirmation email for your records as soon as you have cancelled the service.
If you have any questions regarding your subscription our customer service team is available on our free phone number (44) 800-756-3741; representatives are available Monday-Sunday 9am - 9pm GMT or through live chat on our site. If you prefer you can send us an email to: customerservice@livecareer.co.uk

Live Career resume builder is the biggest "legal" or so they say, scam out there! They took $444 over the past year out of my credit card and food out of my children's mouths. I signed up for a $2.95 service and have now paid $444 for absolutely NOTHING. This is highway robbery. What a joke. They said they would refund me $34, wow! Isn't that nice of them. It's like a robber stealing your purse and telling you he'd give you back your lipstick.! I will DEFINATLY be reporting this joke of a company to the better business bureau! I would suggest any of you others who've had the same thing happen do the same. Companies like this should be taken down.
Dear Heather,
Thanks for your comments. We welcome all feedback from our customers.
Our subscription prices and policies are clearly stated in the details of the subscription underneath each price option, in bullet form as well as in the confirmation email we send to every subscriber. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email, and self- cancellation in your Account Settings.
If you have any questions, our customer service team is available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week from 6am- Midnight EST at toll free 1-888-816-0576 or through live chat on our site. I used the resume builder and thought the end product looked good. However, I found I could not export the resume into PDF without losing the formatting. Bummer. Hours wasted. I had to just rebuild the document using word processing software.
Also, when I went to use the job search feature, the only results within a 300 mile radius were entry level positions. I am 15 year into my career and could not find any positions on the site that met my needs. However, I was able to find appropriate listings on other sites.
I'd say this site is ok if you are looking for your 1st or 2nd real job. This is not for experienced professionals.
Hi Nathan, thank you for that great review, it is very appreciated. Reviews like this one makes us change the way we do things for you. If you need anything in the future, just contact us, we’re here for you. Thanks!
I used the live career service to quickly make a resume, it looked fine until i downloaded the pdf version. It looked terrible, it was completely different than the preview. Not just different but it looked worse than if I made one with a basic text editor. The font looked like it out came out of a printer from the 80's and all the lines seperating sections were replaced with dots. I've emailed customer service and have not heard back. I have cancelled my account should be set to expire in about 2 weeks. I've noticed that in my accounts section it doesn't allow the user to edit or remove the billing info, which is very odd. I'm a web developer and I'm aware of the thinking that goes into these applications and limiting the users ability to edit billing is most likely their intention. I hope they don't "accidently" bill me for next month.
Hello John K, I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service and that you haven't receive a reply to your request to our customer service department. We are going to send you a private message to offer you assistance and as well to take a look at you account and confirm that it was canceled correctly as well to assist you with you concern about the billing information.
We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Marketing team. Please contact me directly if you have any further issues. You can email me at customerservice@livecareer.com

I'm usually a stickler for reviewing terms and conditions before I sign up for something and do not remember seeing anything about the hidden fees, but maybe the panic I was in from losing my resume caused me to be careless. After being charged $65 for failing to cancel my subscription, I called customer service and was ridiculed for being stupid enough to sign up for something without reading the fine print. Literally, the rep scolded me like I was a child. I certainly learned my lesson, but any "business" that aims to make their money hoping people don't read the fine print does not deserve your patronage and should be shut down. No wonder they aren't accredited by the Better Business Bureau. Do not use this company.
Hi Ash,
We’re sorry that you may have gotten the wrong impression of our service and subscription resume builder service. Our free account gives you the opportunity to try out our resume and cover letter builder before deciding to purchase. Our website clearly and conspicuously states our terms on various pages in the purchase process. For example, when the consumer is given a choice between our different products, the terms of the subscription are in bullet points next to their selection, and again on the payment page. Consumers receive an email confirming their subscriptions as soon as they complete their purchase. The confirmation email states: "Your subscription begins immediately and renews automatically" followed by the corresponding date and purchase price. If you have any additional concerns regarding your account, please feel free to contact us at Social@LiveCareer.com so we can provide with further assistance.
Thank you!
Fraud... be ware... do pay them anything or you will be charged without notice 35 bucks per month. I never even signed up for their site. I only paid one time fee to look at one template then I was charged from them on... I'm so angry at this site. I've always been very careful with what I sign up... this type of charges never happened... STAY AWAY... DO NOT USE THIS SITE EVER
Dear Minglu,
Hi, I work at LiveCareer. I apologize for the misunderstanding. The $3.95 option is good for 7 days and we rely on you to cancel whenever you are finished. Underneath this option it states it will auto-renew in bullet form. We do offer several ways to cancel including self-cancellation in your Account Settings!
You can also contact our customer service team for help! We are available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week from 6am- Midnight EST at toll free 1-888-816-0576 or through live chat on our site. Don't do it. It's not free. You create your resume, then they make you pay & subscribe to print it. They're counting on you forgetting to cancel your subscription. Which 90% of people do, including myself. $#*! these people, $#*! this company, they should all be thrown in prison for this bull $#*!.
Greetings Bob S. I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with
Our service. Our free account gives you the opportunity to try out our resume builder before deciding to purchase. The ability to print, email, or download your resume and cover letters are features included in our paid subscription and not listed as a feature of the free

This company is ridiculous, a recurring charge of $39.80 to my credit card for 5 months. Contact their customer service, would only refund the latest charge.
The worst part is I did not even receive cover letter, resume from their company, this is a FRAUD, Stay away, do not sign on their website.

I used this service to write my resume and although I am pleased with the final product, the customer service is absolutely terrible. They do not answer their emails, if you call you will be put on a loop and they will not pick up. I have attempted several times to delete my account and they will not allow me to do so despite the fact that my subscription has expire. S C A M
Hi Bridget S.,
I’m very sorry that you did not get the best customer service experience. Our record shows that you successfully cancelled the service on January 28 via online. If you want to completely delete your LiveCareer account, this means you will not be able to access any of your resumes, cover letters, or emails. This action cannot be undone. Your LiveCareer account is free and we will maintain a copy of your resume for you in case you want to come back later. If you are sure you want to delete your account, I can do it for you. Please contact me directly so that I resolve this issue quickly for you. Please email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com

I agree with many other reviewers. The site states that you will be billed $1.95 for a 14 day trial. However, upon signing up I was charged $39.80 immediately. Although the site does say the charges will recur at $9.95 weekly every four weeks they immediately charge the $39.80 and do not refund charges. If you can cancel at any time, the first charge should be refundable and only the initial $1.95 should be charged. This is a scam and not as advertised. No one should be charged $39.80 until AFTER four weeks have passed. I know that I was charged $39.80 before my initial 14 days even expired, never received and never received an email confirming my subscription or the original $39.80. I agree, this is definitely fraudulent billing.
Greetings Michelle P,
We are very sorry that you feel this way and had this experience with our services Mrs. Michelle. We will be more than glad to assist you with your concern. We take every feedback very seriously. We have sent you a private message so we can assist you in a secure manner with a proper resolution.

I had problems retrieving my saved resume, but Carlos Gomez helped me with the issue. He was really helpful and friendly. The website can made more user friendly, but there is always someone there to help you and guide you. I would really recommend this website! Keep up the good work guys <3
Hi Zuljendra,
We are thrilled that you were delighted with how Carlos was able to provide a resolution about your request. We are committed to providing great customer service.
Thank you so much for your awesome feedback!
I was scammed over $350. I know its my fault for not realizing they were charging my card but regardless they are disgusting scammers. They make you pay the $2 trial or whatever it is then without your consent they automatically sign you up for a subscription without you knowing. They are disgusting human being taking advantage of unemployed people trying to better their lives. Karma is a real thing live career, and you guys will get whats coming to you.
Also dont bother replying to this comment saying "sorry to hear this bs" Ive contacted you guys multiple times, you are pathetic disgusting human beings.
EDIT PLEASE READ: The only way you will ever get a refund is by going to your bank and getting them to open an investigation. Live career themselves will not refund you but once your bank gets involved they do.
We are sorry that you had this experience with our service. We are very committed to providing great customer service and once again apologize that you were not satisfied with our service. This is a God-send. I didn't know where to start. Even though I still have a lot of editing to do, it's because I made too many selections from the available prompts because there are so many great choices. Highly recommended.

The issue was resolved in an expeditious, comprehensive manner with the representative being very knowledgeable and courteous.
Do not agree with the automatic renewals as I don't feel it was advertised adequately that the renewal would kick in after free subscription.
Hi Rhonda:
Thank you for this good review! We are committed to offer the best experience with both our product and customer service. Once again, thank you for this feedback and please feel free to contact us if you have nay questions or concerns in the future.

I've been having billing problems for 5 days and needed to get my resume and cover letter to a job opportunity over a week ago. I have been stressing out like crazy. But Joseph was a great help, he made me feel calm and taken care of, and got my billing to process. I really appreciate his help.
Answer: Our free account gives you the opportunity to try out our resume builder before deciding to purchaser ability to print, email, or download your resume and cover letters are features included in our paid subscription and not listed as a feature of the free account. Answer: This is what the site advertised: For 14 day access, $14.95, and for a year $39.80. However, signing up for ANY service aloows the site to store your payment information for further billing, and getting in touch with them, much less obtaining help is nigh impossible. After two weeks they will pull $39.80 MONTHLY from your payment method (please see my review and others on Google and yelp for further verification of this).
Answer: Do not use this site!
Answer: I had to cancel my Debit Card account with Bank of America, because the Bank refused to block LiveCareer from my account. I wonder if they are in cahoots or what? I believe a class action suit may be required so we can get our funds back.
Answer: Call your bank and change your card number Call them and let them know you have contacted your bank and will contact the better business bureau of you don't get a full refund. Then contact the better bBB and file a formal complaint. You will have a refund within a week. That's how I got my money back
Answer: Dont waste your time trying to contact them. I went to my bank and had all future billing refused AND I went to the State Attorney General and reported them.
Answer: Hello, Sarah - Thank you for getting in touch with us, our subscriptions are auto-renewing, we have a continuous billing feature that charges your account after the 14-day period and every month for the regular price afterward. However, if you are only interested in the 14-trial and wish to avoid any recurring charges simply cancel your subscription before beforehand. We hope that this helps clear things up for you, if you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know. Best regards, LiveCareer US
