Id.me seems to be a system built by amateurs. It will frustrate your efforts to accomplish anything you set out to do on their website and leave you feeling extremely uncomfortable about having shared sensitive information with a website that is so poorly built and managed. Stay away from Id.me at all costs and stick with hard copy filings!

It took forever to get through the verification process. Selfies, pictures of documents, questions, back and forth from phone to computer. After is was all done and over with, the IRS never received the information for verification and I had to call the IRS and do their verification. This was a huge waste of time. I do not recommend this service.

You have to hand over your biometric data in addition to your contact info and government documentation. Everytime. They claim it's like barely more work than setting up a password but it's not true. I hate that they've wriggled themselves into bed with essential government agencies like the IRS and established themselves as the gatekeepers to essential citizen services with no alternative means of online accessibility.

Over all the experience was successful but there were a few issues causing a resubmit regarding identification clarification ie. Lighting etc. The process allowed me to register without a visit to the local Social Security office, which was both a time saver and less hassle.

This site was quick to verify my info even though I wasn't able to provide my exact military date but still somehow they were able to verify my info 👍 and by signing up with them for a loan for tires it got me a discount which helped in a financial setback, Thank you ID.ME

Referees are extremely prompt & patient with those not all that digitally sophisticated! Let us hope the integrity of this system survives & thrives as a "work-around" for the wanton destruction of SSA ongoing caused by DOGE. Stay tuned.

Very good and so easy to understand the steps. At first I was hesitant to put my personal information but as I saw the steps it has you take it was safe and I would let my friends and family know that they can use this app without being nervous there info would be safe.

Me and that completed with no problem until it switched me back to Social Security and I got an error message that said something had occurred and cut me off from going any further. Now, I think online for my personal information needs more powerful safeguards. I believe banks need ID.me. Even if I changed my password, I had a ridiculous problem. It took a lot of time to solve it.

ID. Me is a quick and easy way to access gov't websites. Recently, it has become necessary to be able to selfie authentication. This seems to be problematic if using Brave browser (which may be due to Brave's additional security), and required utilizing Chrome for my camera to interface with ID. Me. Otherwise, it was a smooth use to access the IRS website in my case.

Quick and easy the process is very intentional about walking you through it and they help you explain everything that you're signing or clicking on it's pretty easy process I am computer illiterate but that was easy

Verification of documents on this site is a nightmare that goes beyond verbal definition. I was finally able to do it after almost 30 attempts. And mind you, I have been certified in IT networking.
I was told how much if a debacle this site, but now I have the hellish experience to prove that.

I discovered a tax liability while preparing my tax returns the weekend before their due date, and was able to go online and (using ID. Me) pay off the deficiency /on a Saturday) before I completed the returns. I didn't need to send a check through the mail and chance having it stolen or compromised.

When you open a business form and it takes you to your personal Social Security instead... it's confusing. There's 4 places to choose how to enter Federal forms. Better write down, where you can find it, what you signed up with!

Very bad experience trying to get in to pay my irs bill. It has given me the run a round and made me keep getting another pass word. It would not permit me to make my payment after all of that run a round that I had to struggle through.
