AuthenticateFirst has a rating of 2.7 stars from 215 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. AuthenticateFirst ranks 59th among Business sites.
I've used "Authenticate first" to authenticate all of my pre-owned Louis Vuitton bags, they're professional, reasonably priced and have a quick turn around time. Will continue to use them and refer friends as well!
Everyone seems to be getting reviews from "2 experts." Don't give these 2 idiots your money. Not only did AuthenticateFirst fail to provide half of what I paid for, them deeming my bag as real was incorrect. The site that I bought it from accepted the return and stated that it was indeed, as I suspected, faux. What they leave out on their Instagram is that they type "this letter cannot be used for PayPal or other dispute" on their "Certificate of Authentation" despite the fact that this is both illegal and incorrect. Don't be a fool like me and impulsively trust them.
Edit & response: Notice how they provide more information about each case and customer, and rebuttal in the comments whenever people post their authentic complaints? Edit the layout of the graph then on your website, because it's extremely misleading. I have no obligation to provide you proof, but I'm more than willing to provide it to PayPal when I escalate the case for my refund. I genuinely don't care if I even get my money back, it's more so about this company having next to no integrity. You also aren't the judge of what people believe, seeing as it's a consistent negative and there was trash about this company on TheDirty as well. Also, what you write on the website and the review about it not being allowed to be posted during a review is illegal. People sign nothing consenting to the nonsense, so it's bullying customers into not providing proper proof when filing a dispute. Even if my $20 isn't returned, I can't wait until someone is fed up to the point of escalating and suing this company. Do you think the $69,000 made in the first year will be enough to cover it?
I've a resale shop in Italy, and I work with this website from two years, ever a great service, for every brand. I am so happy with their service, than you!
After we filed Paypal dispute, you delete the comment that you apologize for your authenticator compared clutch to tote because you see the chain and thought it is tote. Do you think this can erase the evidence that you made mistake? This is cyber crime and fraud.
Are you willing to provide oath to say you did not delete the apology that you compare the clutch to tote? Why do you delete the apology? To hide evidence that you made mistake?
You don't know a mistake was made. You think you can just walk into Prada, pick up the same bag and think you can spot the differences. Just exactly how many Prada have you authenticated? How much professional experience do you have? What are the differences between a super fake, and authentic? You have made many of your own assumptions that we did not state. You have nit picked and over analyzed and complained endlessly over nothing. We suggested you get a 2nd opinion from another authentication service and you don't. You are relying on your own experience of walking into Prada, which is totally unfounded and ridiculous.
They compare my clutch to a tote bag and said the item is not authentic. After I checked same item sold in department store and confirmed authentic, Igor back to them. They send photo to show the difference of my bag and the picture provided by their expert. OMG, they are comparing my clutch to a tote bag. They were even able to pull out an inside tag from lining compartment which my clutch does not even have zip compartment. Horrible company who does not even aware they are comparing apple to orange.
Regardless if it's a tote, or a clutch - it bears no difference, as it is still not an authentic Prada product. Examples were not available on the web to use as a comparison for the clutch, so that is why our expert used a tote as an example for you.
I sent money and photos to Authenticate First and didnt hear back. A few days later I asked for my money back and they did refund
Hello - we are sorry if you did not receive a response to your order. May we please have your order#? We will either refund you, or provide the authentication you requested. Please email us before leaving a public comment, and give us a chance to correct the issue. Also, we do not give a "stamp of authentic" so not sure what you are referring to there either.
Updated 6/6/18 - client contact us regarding a certificate of authenticity for a Gucci bag she believed to be fake that had our "stamp of authentic" on it. The certificate was FORGED and not one we had issued. We ask that all certificates be verified to ensure that we actually issued them. It is not fair to AF for assumptions to be made and our named tarnished by misinformation.
I am so happy with their service and they saved me $500.00 they are on top of their email and respond very fast.
Thank so Much
I emailed asking for refund. They quickly responded offering a refund. I felt they were fair about issue.
I purchased a never full LV bag and I paid for the authentication Service. I received notification from authenticate first at the bag was fake. I initiated a claim to return the purse to the seller. It turns out authenticate first had a clerical error, the bag was authentic and the seller received the authication information, not me. So I paid for someone else to have proof of a bag.
I am online and looking at several Louis Vuitton bags for sale. I came across a Louis Vuitton golf bag (vintage) and i knew it was a replica instantly. I have been studying LV for about five years. I collect them because of my fascination with the history of Louis Vuitton and the making of this brilliant company. First off, the monogram logos on this particular bag were not aligned, the stitching was way off, the hardware is not anything Louis Vuitton would put on any bag and last but least, the heat stamp. This is NOT one of Louis Vuitton's heat stamps. Oh my, anyone that loves LV would know this. This particular stamp is used by a lot of older replicas. Taking one look at this alone, i knew these people do NOT know what they are doing. I would never have them look at one of my bags, even if it were free. How horrible to make money by ripping people off like this. They aren't even on the level of authenticating a ring out of a gumball machine!
The authenticator who reviewed the LV golf bag has over 20 yrs experience authenticating LV, and is a vintage expert. Instead of slandering AF with mis-information, why don't you seek a qualified 2nd opinion instead of guessing yourself.
Apparently AuthenticateFirst does not have the expertise to authenticate every product out there. This company has TWICE made an error on David Yurman jewelry pieces, not having the requisite knowledge about David Yurman stand alone store items and the AUTHENTIC but slightly different items DY makes for retail outlets (like Saks and Nordstrom) so as not to be competing with them directly AND the items they manufacture for specialty causes or groups. So... they are NOT the be-all, know-all of every item out there. Yes, I took both my items directly to a huge DY retail store where an experienced older gentleman explained all the iterations of the DY manufacturing plants and some of the items they scale down for affordability (smaller stones, lesser mm sterling cuffs, etc.) He was particularly nice to me and was taken aback that someone would deny the authenticity of clearly authentic items.
BOTTOM LINE HERE: AuthenticateFirst may or may not be a legitimate company but they CLEARLY don't know everything about everything.
SELLERS should avoid Tradesy because they have apparently been drinking the kool-aid. But they will not change their mind on anything even if you have proof of authenticity. My guess is there is some collusion (kickbacks?) between Tradesy and AuthenticateFirst.
You cannot argue with a company that doesn't use common sense and is out to just make a buck. Don't fall for it, people. Look up their reviews - there are a TON of bad ones. TONS. And the fact that the company isn't willing to look into bettering their shady practices or even speak to people in a more kind and less condescending matter, really says a lot about their legitimacy. Some people live with themselves only because they are in denial about their bad behavior. Shame on you, AuthenticateFirst.
Not only does our business authenticate via photos, but so do many others. If it was not a trusted and proven method, big companies like Tradesy would not hire us. I'm sorry if you are not familiar with the practice, but that does not make it any less legit. Instead of making FALSE ACCUSATIONS why don't you get your own authentication? There are very few businesses who authenticate in person, so it will not be an easy task.
I was worried about buying a high-end designer purse from The Real Real consignment store after seeing multiple posts from other reviewers that they were sold fake items that were advertised as authentic. The Real Real (review to come after I receive the order) took some time to get back to me, so I decided to use this online authentication company, which has stellar reviews (in other forums - not Site Jabber - I'm perplexed by the other 2 reviewers before me - I'm not sure they actually worked with AF before) and works with a seller that I do trust to see what they think. I strongly recommend getting things third-party authenticated prior to purchasing anything second-hand. In any case, I bought the $10 non-expedited service from Authenticate First (AF) and sent them the link from The Real Real's website on a high-end item that after much, much research, I felt was very likely authentic. The AF order was placed on a Thursday night (after business hours), and they posted their turn around time as 2 business days (so I expected the results to come in on Monday). To my delightful surprise, I received their determination of authenticity Saturday afternoon (which, to The Real Real's credit, the item in question was deemed authentic) and this allowed me to confidently make my purchase on the item I had been eyeing for a week or so. I did not actually call Authenticate First's customer service, so I cannot comment on any experience as such, but it says much when you can get a service completed smoothly, professionally, and efficiently without having to contact customer service separately. Thank you AF for a great experience, and I know I will be using this service again in the future.
Thank you so much for the wonderful testimonial. We truly appreciate you taking the time to put a good word in for us. We look forward to working with you again!

I found the review above when I was looking for info on authenticatefirst.com. Boy are they right! This site is just 2 women from Indiana who threw together a website and make money on bogus reviews! They actually made $69,000 last year, their first year of business! I want to say "fake" or "real" and print out a certificate for $$$. What a joke! They have no clue what they are talking about. They were wrong about my Louis Vuitton and someone paid good money for their "expertise". Oh yeah, about that... where is their resume? What makes them experts? Yeah, nothing. They are just new scam artists. Buyer beware!
You are very misguided about Authenticate First, who they are as a company and their authenticators. While 1 of the Founders resides in Indiana, everything else you stated is far from the truth. Our authentication team consists of many authenticators, who reside world wide. Each authenticator has many years of experience in buying, selling and authenticating. Each authenticator also has professional experience in the brand they authenticate. Many of our authenticators work for other authentication companies, well known websites (on their authentication team) as well as volunteer their services on social media sites, such as the Purse Forum. Our clientele includes many well known and reputable websites and consignment shops worldwide. I'm sorry if your agenda was declared fake, but you are more than welcome to get a 2nd opinion.
The review on "The Dirty" was written by a known scam artist, who we exposed for selling fakes. He also altered our authentication letters in order to sell his fakes. He's been sued so many times, he had to close his shops and re-brand under a different name. Again, a very misguided internet post that is far from the truth.
As for financial information, this is not public or known to anyone outside of the founders, so we ask that you stop putting falsified information on social media, as that is slanderous. If you have any questions, you are welcome to contact us directly. Please note: you were not the client in this case and we maintain client confidentiality and cannot discuss our authentication w/anyone except the original client. Thank you for your understanding.
Answer: We have been in business for over 5 yrs - I'm sorry you did not receive what you expected - but that is no reason to continuously slander and harass us. A few unhappy customers happens with EVERY business, considering we've authenticated over 100,000+ in the past 5 yrs, a few is to be expected!
Answer: Call a company stupid - this is clearly a personal attack.
Answer: Yes, we have a sneaker expert who only authenticates sneaker brands.
Answer: Thank you for reaching out. It's important to understand that counterfeit bags often use real date codes, meaning the same serial number can appear on both authentic and fake items. Date codes alone are not a reliable indicator of authenticity, as they do not verify details such as font, placement, materials, and craftsmanship. If you have concerns about your bag, we recommend relying on the comprehensive authentication process conducted by our experts who examine multiple factors beyond just the date code. Let us know if you'd like further assistance.
Answer: Our guarantees and warranties are applicable to our clients, not 3rd parties
Answer: Hello, Of course! We offer Certificates of Authenticity as well as a Written Statement Service, which is often utilized in cases of disputes with credit card companies, banks, and PayPal. If you'd like more information about these services or need assistance, please feel free to reach out. We're here to help!
Answer: Hello; We authenticate up to series 16xxxxxx via photos. Serial number guide: https://www.yoogiscloset.com/authenticate/chanel Due to 1:1 replicas, we do not authenticate higher number Chanel because we do not feel it's safe via photos. This does not mean your bag is fake, we simply are Setting a limit to what we will and will not work with via Photos to protect our clients. We hope we can help you with something else in the future. Thank you for your interest. Authenticate First LLC
Answer: HI! Thanks for reaching out. Hermes starts at $50 for non exotic skins. Chanel starts at $15 and we authenticate up to 16 million via photos. Higher serial numbers would need to be seen in person to rule out 1:1 replicas. We are happy to help
Answer: Hi! We would love to help you and your business with your authentication needs. We offer B2B pricing lower than what you see on our website. Our advanced software helps us give our clients super fast turnaround. Please request our pricing through our website. Thank you!
World wide luxury handbag and accessories authentication services. We authenticate for both buyers and sellers. Is that handbag real? Authentication is necessary to avoid scams.
You ordered our $20.00 certificate of authenticity, which is 1 page long. The $50.00 written statement service is 5-6 pages long. You did not order this service. Our site also states what paperwork can and cannot be used for claims - it's all there clearly in writing. If you would provide us with proof of non-authenticity we will take the matter up with the experts who evaluated your bag. Until then, we can only assume your review is false, with no back up evidence of your claims.
