I was new and decided to bid on something. I live in the desert and Palmdale happened to be close by - a couch aught my I so I bid on it - well I won it - i was so excited just had to pick it up. MaxSold is like a garage sale where you don't have have to pick through things. You can get everything from antiques and designer items to necessities. I cannot tell you how many items I have gotten at the price I am willing to pay!
I cannot count the amount of MaxSold auctions I have purchased from. Both in upstate New York and on Long Island. I have always had a positive experience – especially with the crews. They are so helpful and polite every time! I try and stay away, but MaxSold makes it impossible lol!
I thought I was just getting an amazing deal on a fantastic coffee table that I fell in love with, but once I bought the table (which was amazingly easy and the people were SO friendly) I found out that not only is MaxSold a great place for great stuff, but they have a broad interest in the environment which is super cool. I've already recommended the site to several friends and I can't wait to find more great items for my home as well as to continue learning more about ways I can help the planet!
Being new to the MaxSold auctions I didn't know what to expect. I made a purchase, got my invoice, selected a pick up time and eagerly waited for my pick up day. I was a little nervous at pick up but the MaxSold employees were very friendly and helpful making the whole process extremely smooth. Complete easy to do step-by-step instructions to guide you in every section of selling with a list of contact employees to help answer any questions you have. I'm not very computer savy but I had no problem in setting up my own sale and was very pleased with the outcome of my sale. Very poor pictures. They do not show what is really in a lot or any damage. I usually give some items to a thrift store if the lot has too much of what I don't want but this last time I actually had to throw a lot of it in the trash. The pictures showed stuff in a big box which was all damaged and went in the trash. One box of dishes says 24 pieces but not all of it was there. During a heat wave the house had no A/C and was the pick up was behind. They sort through a pile of paper listing to find my items then I have to wait for a person to take me to the items and stand over me. Some of the items were on the floor but I was offered no assistance. Since I am a senior I don't get up and down well. Then I had to carry a lot of "junk" to my car. The basement stuff said "outside access" but I had to either climb numerous outside steps to get it to my car OR find another way which I did on investigating on my own. You can get some good stuff but be careful and try to look at what pictures they have carefully. Ask questions on line but don't expect a quick answer. I told MaxSold about some of my concerns on their survey and the response was "I'm sorry you had a bad day"
I'm afraid to tell people how much I love MaxSold! I don't want any more competition! This is the future of the estate sale! Live estate auctions from online auction house suffer from national competition, high prices and exorbitant shipping and auction fees! Keeping it local is the absolute best way all around!
Purchased items from a sale and showed up for pickup as per instructions/invoice. No one there. Three calls to 1-877 number and 2 hours later I was told pickup had been changed to date before. No customer service rep I did not receive an email of this change or do you really think I would be at the pickup site. AND yes I have checked my gps and am at the correct location. My credit card was charged so I submitted a request for refund within 3 hours of original pickup time. 1 week later no refund and now the items I purchased but was not able to pickup are being sold on a local FB marketplace page. Legit business I dont think so.
Major problems with their application. I did my job and spent two weeks cataloging items for sale. But their app has big glitches and they are not stepping up to help. They know my deadline is tight yet they have wasted five days not addressing my issues. In addition, I have found the over caliber of their support staff to be quite average at best. IMHO they do not appear to be problem solvers. They just let you flail in the wind as time evaporates. Im actually quite disappointed in their perfromance addressing a serious technical issue.
I purchased 2 items at auction and scheduled pickup at 4:00 pm on Friday. Went to the location, up a dirt road in the mountains, and no one was there. Called 2 different numbers for Max sold. One went straight to voice mail, and the mail box was full, and the other I spoke with 2 different reps 3 different times. No one was able to get in touch with them. Called on Saturday, and told to send an email. I did, and received an email back stating I had missed pickup. I did not and have a picture of the address. Can't get anyone to help me with this. Not impressed, to say the least. Since pickup was not available I believe they should send it to me. It's not large.
Sometimes I find the most unusual things on MaxSold and I can usually get them at a decent price! I like to make multiple purchases at each auction to make the trip worthwhile. MaxSold makes it easy to find and bid on things you want.
I've been using Maxsold for a few month now and purchased several items during that time. Each time everything has gone smoothly and I've come away happy with process and ease of use. I highly recommend keeping an eye on their auctions for your next great find!
I have been a collector of a LOT of things and am downsizing now. I didn't have a lot of faith that you could sell most of my things. BUT you DID I am such a happy camper! During the sale your people did EVERYTHING while I read a book! Friendly and knew what they were doing. It went so smooth Thank You Please let them know how much I appreciated them.
Working with Maxsold was a pleasure. They kept me well informed throughout the process. My only disappointment was I wished we could have got more money for the items as most items were sold far below their value. But if you don't have a ton of time and are moving or have an estate sale it was easy and fast!
If I could give them ZERO stars I would. If everything left in your family estate is pure junk, and you don't care about any of it, then sure, go to max sold. But we had a huge estate full of some beautiful stemware, clothes, appliances, excellent condition furniture, lamps, artwork, vintage keepsakes, one of a kind collector's items, purses, you name it, and we will be lucky if we end up with $100. They group your items in ridiculously large lots. They take absolutely AWFUL pictures, and terrible descriptions. They do not care one bit about your items.
I find perusing the various auctions on MaxSold entertaining. Often leading me to bid on a few things. Sometimes I win. Sometimes I lose. But, it is win-win for everyone. Seller gets some money. Buyer gets their whatever. Everyone goes home happy.

I hate to write a poor review because there are things we were impressed about Maxsold, but getting a hold of someone there to respond to questions and concerns was so frustrating and pointless! We have tried numerous times to speak to ANYONE at the company and it seems that once they have your business, they couldn't care less about you. Leaving messages on the phone or email was a huge waste of time. The biggest problem was the billing. We were charged for something that was stolen during the pickup even though it was a partner managed auction and there were 4 people at the house supposedly watching people go pick up their purchases. After the item was discovered to be stolen, the manager told us that the rightful purchaser would be refunded but we would be charged! After I complained to someone that evening via phone (after many attempts to get a hold of someone), Riley (on the phone) assured me that Maxsold would NOT charge us. A week later, we got the bill and lo and behold, WE WERE CHARGED! No one answers the phone to explain. I am truly disgusted and will not recommend Maxsold to anyone!
Maxsold is less of a hidden gem than it was before but you can still score a lot of awesome deals on antique, vintage, and modern stuff. The place, day-to-day and time of pickup are clearly stated so you can plan ahead or choose not to bid. Premiums seem fair and the bidding process is clear (though you set your max bid after your initial bid, I've seen some bids clearly by people who thought their initial bid was their max, the same as eBay does it).
