I needed to downsize my 4 BR home quickly (5-6 weeks) and significantly (down to 1-2 rooms of furniture). Selling on my own, on FaceBook and Craiglist was just too stressful. The MaxSold team was efficient, professional, and straightforward throughout the process. I do suggest you ask lots of questions of your sales contact, and READ all of the materials before signing your contract. I notice a number of other not-so-great reviews by folks who did not do their own research beforehand. It is a bit hard to swallow, when an item goes for less than I as an owner think it is worth, but many items went for more than I expected. A huge relief for me that all of my items will be gone in plenty of time for the settlement. I could see this as a huge resource for folks with a parent's home that they need to empty quickly. Ok, but no great.

I just bought and picked up my items from a MaxSold auction and they are mediocre at best. When we arrived at the pick up location I was shocked at how filthy things were and what a jumbled mess of bid lots there were scattered around the house. I managed to win chairs but lost the table auction in the last few minutes so to be fair I was not overly excited about my winnings. We won the auction of 8 dining chairs and while the bid made me believe one chair was missing a screw what was actually true is that it was missing several screws and in pieces. With the number of lots and 3 pick up times, in Cambridge MA, pick up was a bit of a challenge. First to find parking and second to navigate through a tiny house as it was being torn apart. Max sold could have done a better job of organizing the pick up lots by time to accommodate traffic flow. It is doubtful that I will use them again as the prices in the auction get raised above value doubly so for sight unseen pieces.

Love this company! Staff is always very friendly and very helpful... truely! Pick up times are always well advertised, directions are very clear... The merchandise/auction items listed are described in detail and pictures are also pretty clear.

The bidders want the items free and so their bids are not even close to 1/5 the value of the products they bid on and Maxsold fees are so high that you can be sure they are the only one to make any money. I would advise you donate your stuff to a charity and take the tax write off. 5% of the people don't show up to pick up what they bid on. Each bidder has a time to pick up and if they call with an excuse Maxsold gives their money back and you are stuck with paying someone to haul the stuff away especially if you have a deadline because of settlement on your house. I'm advising my friends against this type of auction. It's great for dealers and resellers because of how cheap they can buy merchandise. It you are a seller don't waste your time. $5.00 for a like new six foot bookcase when you have to pay Maxsold $10 is not a wise choice.

When you call charities you will find that they do not take bulky items (entertainment units, book cases, dining tables, etc.) as it is cost prohibitive for the charities to send out a truck to get them (and the market is flooded with those items being given away on Craigslist.) So, if it was not for MaxSold, the seller would face high disposal costs - it's cheaper to have those items sell for a few dollars and get taken away than getting stuck with items. We don't allow buyers to get their money back for no-shows. Bought a high end Kitchenaid mixer for a great price! Mixer was in mint condition and I have been baking up a storm ever since! The crew is always great in pick up day! Always fun and a good deal!

Loved my pick up day!

I recently bought some items from Maxsold. I bid on two auctions for the same day in Burlington Ontario. I went to pick up my items at the first location. The staff were wonderful. We told them that after this pick up we were heading to the next one. They were pleased we were having a MAXSOLD day! Some of them said to say hello to Paul at the next location. We went to the next location and found Paul. All the staff members were so awesome, helpful and always had a smile. This was not our first pick up and it won't be our last. We were happy from start to finish. Can't wait for our next purchase.

Great People

We had our first experience with online auctions last month when Toni and Julie came to our family home in Mississauga to help prepare our items for auction. They were professional and very helpful. Two weeks later on pick up day, they were joined by Robert and all three made the day stress free and were thoughtful and caring about our property and the many people coming to collect their items. We appreciate their professionalism and kindness.

Thanks to Maxsold, clearing our parents' home was simplified and thanks to your wonderful staff, the chore was made a pleasure despite the emotions of the process.

After purchasing several hard-to-find items at MaxSold auctions int he Greater Toronto Area, I'm happy to say my experience with both the individual events and MaxSold as a whole have been very positive. There is a slight difference between the "Seller Managed" and the auctions run by MaxSold staff, (I prefer the latter) but it is obvious MaxSold does a great job of instructing the independent sellers on how to run their events. Overall, a great service to the community, and a wonderful place to stumble across rare and unique items.

I have been participating in MaxSold auctions for over a year attended countless auctions and conducted my own Seller managed Sale. I think this is one of the best essential services I have ever seen.

As a buyer, I shop hundreds of items per week, year round from the comfort of my tablet, instead of running around to garage sales and auctions, I regularly pick up incredible deals, made good profits reselling items, greatly benefited my household budget and met lovely friendly people. I understand that for this opportunity, it may occur 1 out of 40 times that I dont get exactly what I expected to get (Gee, I wish life in general would be that kind), that I may do some work to pick up items, and that there will be some items that came as part of the lot that I can donate to charities. (my local Salvation Army and recycling centre, treat me like a hero every time they see me, which gives me guilt because I saved or made money getting what I wanted and am still able to donate. Dont cry for me, I can deal with that guilt :).

Years ago I had to liquidate an estate of a family member, and it was 3 months of labor intensive, favor asking, money spending, time consuming hell ending in watching and paying for 2 waste bins of stuff I knew others could use, be hauled away. Just recently I had occasion to do the same for another family member who as it happens was in the same area and had comparable amount and type of stuff. Well, with about 2 days of effort to remove keeper items 2-3 days to stage and post the Maxsold auction, half a day attending to an army of buyers doing all the work of dismantling, packing and moving 95% of the contents from the home and another half a day cleaning up the rest, we were done. For that week of easy effort received a payment from Maxsold that was easily triple the average pay a Canadian makes in a week. My costs? Some green tape from the dollar store and lunch for those who helped out. I was in shock by how much easier the Maxsold experience was. I have great pity for anyone still using disposal services for this type of requirement.

For myself it gives me great joy to participate in preserving materials rather than going to landfill, saving money, and having the option to not assist billionaire retail Corporations in getting any richer than they already are. Maxsold lets me do these things and I do not know any other service that does.

Thank you MaxSold! That was THE most orderly process I have ever gone through! It may have taken me a couple of months to get everything organized in my "Seller Managed" Auction, but it was well worth the effort! All of my items were paid for and picked up within my 6hr "pick up window." I have to say, I also met some FASCINATING people during the process!

I have already won the items which is four big oil painting. But when i got in and want to get it, the staff told me there's missing, but they saw it several minutes ago. The staff told me they know a guy got almost 40 paintings and he got it. So staff promise me to get this painting and send to my home next day. But when i was leaving, the manager she told me if can not find it just return money to me. After two days, i received email that told me they made a call to this guy, but no response. So MaXsold would like me to fill out refund application and get 20 tim hortons card. | made a call to manager and want to return all the items from this auction. She said no! Why i paid it off but i can't get my items. Why I return you items can't get money back? Is it fair? I have already attend over 10 times auction from Maxsold, I really find something it's not normal.

Dear Grace Z - As discussed with you over the phone, we are sorry the painting was not there for you at pickup as it was our responsibility to ensure it would be. Our team made efforts to retrieve it making calls and sending emails for several days but ultimately had to ban the other buyer for their actions. We offered a full refund on that item along with a $20 giftcard for the error. We feel we did all we could and, at your request, offered to continue retrieval efforts but that it would be in lieu of a full refund given the additional, outside policy, effort that would be required to potentially still end up empty handed. In all cases of issues at pickup, refunds are the only economic model we have to compensate for errors. We do apologize for this. We understand you feel this was unfair even with a full refund and a $20 coffee card - we are sorry.

I bid on a few lots at a few different auctions on MaxSold and one in has been bringing in money for me, as a reseller, for well over a year. I had the BEST experience at one sale in particular and I LOVE bidding and buying from this company!

I have attended 5 auctions and I just love it. I think it is the thrill of getting things I actually want for a good price. The ones running the auction at pick up are so very helpful and nice. Some of the things I have gotten, I take to our base Thrift Shop. Proceeds go to a scholarship I am on the board of. It it does not sell, it stays at the TS and that money will also go towards scholarship. Most I have been happy to keep.

I have purchased items from Maxsold perviously with no issues... I believe that each city has a team and this review is about the team that looks after the Mississauga area.

I have been blacklisted by the company due to this incident... this is what I wrote to them when concerning the blacklisting and never got a response.

I was living in ottawa at the time and bid with taking into consideration the description as well as the photos... when I arrived in toronto after investing in a rental SUV to pick up my purchases I was shocked that the items that I paid market value for had a bent end panel support and a hole punched through the back... both were never disclosed in the photos or description and hence I would have never bid on that item at all.(I have photos to justify) Another item again was the same situation and the only written indication was wear with age and at no time was there photos or description again about the pitting on the metal which has a big devaluing of the item(again, I have my own photos)... pitting only happens when exposed to dampness... not age wear. Again, I would not have bid if there was proper disclosure. You are right... I tried to resolve it with your staff and was treated poorly by the staff there. I did speak to someone on the phone who did seem to look after me and then was shocked a week later when I was blacklisted. If these items were $10 or $20 purchase I would not have bothered but the two were close to over $800. I, understand that you hold your clients to high standards and I would have to agree that I would hold your service to that same standard. Your company failed me terribly and I feel it unjust that I pay the price for your staff's inability to do their job properly. That job is to be more informative concerning the condition. I should have asked in return from your company for the value of the rental and milage but I eat that to experience.

I have been using MaxSold for only about three months, but have had great experiences. You must be careful to look at pics and descriptions. They tell you if something is tested or not, and I have had some really pleasant surprised in mixed lots of jewelry, books, and art. They were great when I could not pick up a large item, and I will continue to have fun and collect oddities from them.

MaxSold seems to have come up with a unique way of selling stuff. They don't try to sell to a particular market, just sign up and go. I have already told many people at work, personally, and have put it up on Facebook. I am a fan for life. Well... gotta go. More bidding to be done.

First off, let me start off with a counter for some of the negative reviews for MaxSold on here. I am in no way affiliated to the company, or any of its employees, and am only leaving feedback because I have been using the site for the past 6 months or so and feel that its under-rated as such.

If you go into it with the mindset that its for 2nd hand, and used items, then you're off to a good start. It's similar to that end to eBay and other 2nd hand auction sites, with the exception that the items are as is. If you understand that "as is" means that you may get an item that is stuffy or mildew smelling not usually listed in the brief descriptions, but understandable if you think that many of these items have been in storage for decades, and even in basements), or may have blemishes and imperfections (of course listed in the descriptions), then you're more than likely not going to be negatively surprised.

I have found many great bargains on some of the less flashy items for sale, as most people on the site either don't know the value of some of the items, or are too busy to concern themselves with some of the less popular items. Most I have turned around and resold for a profit, but there are a couple of under-rated treasures that I have held onto that are just that, real treasures!

MaxSold is definitely worth a try, but be warned, you just may get hooked!
