Maxsold exhibits a mixed reputation, with positive feedback highlighting efficient communication, smooth auction processes, and satisfactory customer experiences for both buyers and sellers. Many users appreciate the value they find in auctions and commend the professionalism of the staff. However, significant concerns arise regarding misrepresentation of items, lost goods, and communication issues, particularly during pickups. Customers also express dissatisfaction with the handling of complaints and the company's response to service failures. Overall, while Maxsold has a solid base of satisfied users, addressing operational shortcomings and enhancing customer support could improve their reputation further.

I'm relatively new to MaxSold, but I've purchased items from about 5 auctions in the past month and my experience has been great so far. I've gotten some fantastic deals on various items (including art, collectibles, jewelry and furniture). The MaxBid function saves time and energy and works just like advertised (it doesn't go to your MaxBid unless necessary). Pick-ups have been organized and easy. Overall, a fun experience with MaxSold!
We have purchased many items from Maxsold. Items are described and photographed as best as possible. Once an item was accidentally given to another purchaser, so right then and there the staff person made an adjustment to our winning bid in order to accommodate the missing item. Staff are very friendly, and I would gladly recommend this business to any of my friends and neighbours.
We dreaded the thought of moving to a new style of house not knowing how to get value for our quality furniture. We had some very nice pieces which didn't agree with the décor we were trying to create at our new lake house. From start to finish our Maxsold experience was managed professionally by courteous and knowledgeable people and in the end gained us fantastic results. We highly recommend Maxsold as a preferred method for anyone downsizing or changing décor when moving homes.

Wonderful, wonderful first experience. Staff at house was so very helpful, went above and beyond to assist me! Items were exactly as described, great deal. Will be watching and bidding on many more items!
Locked Out::
I purchased from MaxSold before but only when pick-up is Sunday. As a Sabbath observer I can't pick up on Saturdays (no exceptions). It's too bad that there is no flexability.
Well after I wrote my review they reinstated me, As a buyer, I enjoy the experience of Maxsold. Being able to browse what is essentially a series of large garage sales from the comfort of my recliner, and not needing to be an early-birder to find items of interest, is very convenient. My biggest problem is controlling the impulse to buy more items than I actually need -- how can I turn down a selection of power tools for only $5?
My auction in oakville made me feel that the seller had taken all the better items and left all the older, less desirable, broken, non working, mismatched items that were a step above value village and that the seller decided it was easier to auction them on unsuspecting people than pay for movers... you have to watch and know exactly what you bought because stuff seems to disappear with all the people going in and out. I spent a lot of time removing damaged/old items... the linens should have been thrown out they were so old and smelly. Garden tools broken and quite a bit of stuff was over 10 years old... i would prefer being able to see the items in a viewing before bidding on crap.
When I went to pick up my stuff there were helpers there to give mea hand. Thanks goes out to Jack, Mike and Mikes wife whose name I never got for helping me load up my car. I was so happy that they were there to help m as my stuff was down stairs and I would still be there now if not for their help. Thanks again for all the help.

I decided to relocate to my late father's 3 BR home in Maryland (my childhood home). Needed to sell most furnishings to make room for mine. A friend suggested MaxSold. From the moment I contacted Amanda for assistance to the day of pick up of items, I did not have to worry about anything. Once I decided what to sell and made the items accessible, MaxSold handled everything else. Patti Ridlon, Operations Manager, did an outstanding job of planning, organizing and managing all aspects of the auction. The set up and pick up events were executed flawlessly by Matt, Julie, Himi, Jamie, Cindy, Samantha, and Brittany. Their expertise, friendliness, and can-do attitude made all of the difference. I am very grateful to Adam Gordon, CEO, and everyone at MaxSold for raising the bar beyond all expectations. MaxSold is a tremendously helpful resource to sellers and buyers alike thanks to the outstanding planning, organization and execution of its leadership and team. Also, I have referred their impressive establishment to family and friends, and look forward to being a buyer in the future. Many thanks, MaxSold! Linda Erwin 5/22/2017
We were downsizing from a large 5-bedroom home to a 3-BR condo. We had already moved all of our favorite things to the condo, and much of the best leftover furniture had gone to family. We were left with many items that were used but "serviceable", along with some highly specialized items. We invited an onsite estate auction company to take a look, and were told we should "hire 2 dumpsters" and not bother with a sale. However, we knew that we had a house full of items that had a lot of life left! MaxSold was terrific to work with. During the catalog phase, we had two excellent photographers, who were diligent and detailed including the backs of items and specifically the scrapes, flaws and rust spots. The arrangement of lots showed the mark of an insightful and experienced team. The proof of this was that 98% of our items were sold, and our house was emptied within 5 hours! Communication with the headquarters team was excellent and transparent throughout the process. The gross on our sale was $4775. Although MaxSold keeps a hefty percentage of the proceeds, it was still great to keep our possessions out of a landfill, know that things will be put to good use, and make a modest profit in addition. I would definitely recommend MaxSold to a friend!
Finding your way after retirement is as murky as starting a new job, because it is one. Finding Maxsold has been an eye opener into an entire new world. Its not just "looking" at what is up for bid, but its the job of researching from the info given, using various websites and people. The "new" knowledge acquired in mechanics, pottery, painters, clocks, wood, vintage vs antiques etc... is invigorating and challenging. If I had not stumbled onto the website I would not have met a great bunch of people at Maxsold or
Broadened my mind in new directions.
Unlike the eBay's of the world, there is no rating system, where users can rate the sellers. Why bother? The majority of auctions are downsizing, a one off thing?
It the item is a "working item" and they do not say "tested, in working condition" assume it DOES NOT WORK.
If the listing is for MANY similar items, and they re NOT described in the listing do not assume anything. I have bought 65+ Lp's (they were 66), where the seller pictured 6 (Stones, Beatles, MJ, Joel) and the other unpictured 59 were non-english religious albums. But one is led to believe they are pop albums for that is what was pictured, BUT it never stated that. Assume you are buying what is pictured and described and nothing else.
Don't get caught assuming or you will get burned.
I have been a buyer on e-Bay and Craigslist. When I first saw MaxSold, I was skeptical. To register, you have to give a credit card number. Hmm...
I read the reviews here carefully and went to one of the addresses whose content is being auctioned off. Finally I registered and bid on an item just to test the waters.
The whole process went very well. I bid $2 on a bookcase. I was busy when the bidding ended (when generally most of the action occurs). So I set a max bid limit of $25.
The next day, I learned my $2 bid had won. The pickup process went very smoothly too. The directions were perfect. Staff had built ramps over steps and provided dollies for moving heavy and bulky items. Very efficient, helpful and friendly.
In less than 10 minutes we were heading home.
Great experience. Great buy. Highly recommend MaxSold.
I love MaxSold and have purchased some great pieces of art, a trombone, riding lawn mower, and the most unique items. Pick up is a breeze and typically very friendly like meeting neighbors at a yard sale. Nothing ever perfect but Maxsold is as close as it gets.
I won an auction, then the owner emailed me saying that he pulled 2 items from the lot. These items were the reason I wanted the lot in the first place. So I decided not to pay and drive 200 miles for nothing, but MaxSold charged me $75 from my credit card anyway. I will report the fraudulent activity to my local DA's office. Very shady business, a general bunch of thieves and liars.
I engaged MaxSold to help reduce my household inventory down to a more manageable state. I really didn't know what to expect but right from the start all options were explained and it couldn't have been any easier. I opted to use the MaxSold managed auction. From the ground crew onsite to catalogue and photograph my items down to the same crew on hand for pick up day>>> things went quite smoothly without any issue. 97% go my auction sold and a tidy profit to boot!
Thanks MaxSold
I have used maxsold for over 2 years now and about 10 different auctions and have had fast friendly service everytime we go pick up our merchandise. The photo's and descriptions on the auction website are accurate and the products we have purchased have always been in great working order. I would highly recommend this sight, you can get quality used merchandise at very reasonable prices and the attendants at the site are quick and helpful in showing you where your lots are located.
Smooth transaction and overall experience. There was a slight hiccup with things getting started on time, but not a big deal. I'll definitely keep watching MaxSold for new auctions.
I'm a frequent online auction bidder/buyer and I review several auction co's web sites almost daily. MaxSold DC does not present Sellers' things well. Photos are poor quality and images cluttered. Items are not described well. There are so many high quality online auction companies now, I can't waste time on MaxSold auctions.
Answer: The site states clearly that you must pick up your article at the specific time and place. If you cannot do that or arrange for someone to do it for you... then don't bid.
Answer: Definitely not on their youtube channel as they've removed the ability to comment. This alone was enough for me to steer clear.
Answer: Please see our past auction results at http://maxsold.com/past-auctions/ - every auction we've done is listed for public viewing. You will see the sell through rate for each auction, and you can calculate the percent sold. Our average sell through is 98.7%.
Answer: Winning bids are charged to the credit card on file right AFTER each auction ends, along with 10% buyers premium and the applicable retail sales tax for your region. The first time you bid at any of our auctions, your card will be pre-authorized for $1.00. However, it is only a bank authorization for validation, not a charge, and it is usually removed in about a week by your bank.
Answer: Hi Peter, We found that when minimum bids or reserves are put on items, they typically go unsold. Answer: $700 + 30% if they do the photos and pick-up. If you do the work on your side it is $300 or 30% whatever is higher. It is near the bottom of this link. https://get.maxsold.com/sell-with-maxsold/
MaxSold.com online auctions provides local expert help to sell goods through our hyper-local online auction service when downsizing, estate sale or clearing business inventory.
A percentage of our sales are "Seller Managed" (photographed and cataloged by the seller) for a discounted fee - and we do not manage those, and that's where you are seeing the quality issues. For MaxSold managed auctions, our team does a great job in the cataloging and photography at commissions for FAR LESS than our competitors, with quicker turnarounds and faster payments. Be sure to see our past sale results and monthly sale highlights at www.MaxSold.com/Past, and read all reviews before judging our service.
