Maxsold exhibits a mixed reputation, with positive feedback highlighting efficient communication, smooth auction processes, and satisfactory customer experiences for both buyers and sellers. Many users appreciate the value they find in auctions and commend the professionalism of the staff. However, significant concerns arise regarding misrepresentation of items, lost goods, and communication issues, particularly during pickups. Customers also express dissatisfaction with the handling of complaints and the company's response to service failures. Overall, while Maxsold has a solid base of satisfied users, addressing operational shortcomings and enhancing customer support could improve their reputation further.

I want to tell you that I went to pick up a lot of stuff to one of your auctions in Bethlehem Ct and it was so nice that Joe always was with me and my husband, very polite, smiling, a gentleman.
Good luck for all of you.
If you are buying, the prices can be amazing. Obscure interests and objects are found daily. Interested in Soap making - at some estate there will be everything you need to start a business in the field. Collect Avon Bottles, Blue glass, power tools, toy trains - it all shows up in the auctions. Not only that but MaxSold helps the environment by keeping items out of landfills. A+ for that.
If you are selling, it can be a little dicier. If the right group of people find your auction then major bucks, if not well...
MaxSold Estate Sales and Downsizing helps people clear out their space and make a little money quickly and painlessly. From onset to final object gone can be as little as two weeks. Where else can you find this kind of help and make money off of it instead of paying someone to haul it all away?
This is a company that I have had only great experiences with.
I worked for a senior move management company and we often had seniors that were in need of downsizing and to get rid of the household goods they did not have use for once they moved into their new smaller home. We used MaXSold to do an online auction which was a lot more convenient for our clients than having an estate sale. People would bid on the items they wanted online. The winners would then come to pick up what they got at a set time. No need to have hundreds of people walk through the home for hours like they would at an estate sale. Pretty much everything would sell too.
If I were to downsize, I would use MaxSold since they only need to come to your house twice. Once to catalog and take pictures, and once for the auction pick up.
My experience with Maxsold has been positive from start to finish. The auction sites are easy to navigate, loaded with information and the customer service is incredible. They cover everything from pictures to descriptions, keep you update to bids, etc. Right down to when you pick up your merchandise. You can't get any better than this. Thank you MaxSold!
From the start MaxSold computer platform works great and is easy to use. The catalog works well and the bidding is easy. The communications with bidders is excellent and the item pick up is well organized and is to make.
We can't speak highly enough about the friendly professional nature of the Maxsold staff. This is the second time we have used their services and everything has gone like clockwork again. It is amazing to us that they get the prices they do because of their extensive networking and the fact that everything sells.
We would highly recommend Maxsold and their staff to anyone.
I have been buying on maxsold for around a year and I have to sat it is amazing - The items that I have found have been fantastic - I have also been able to resell some of the items I have bid on and won for a nice profit- though I normally keep most of the items for myself - I urge you to check out the site
I have both bought and sold on MaxSold, I love finding that treasure and getting to meet the original owner to get history. When selling I get to meet the buyer and experience their joy at what I am passing on to them. This is more than just buying and selling. It is an experience. I love it!
I recently was bidding on items at one of their online auctions and had lost several items to a higher bidder when I went to pick up the items I had won the owner said to me oh your the one I was bidding against on the items I lost she stated to me that she bid the items up to make sure she got the best price for her clients and that if she did not get the price she thought they should go for they would buy them and resell the items on line for higher price. I don't have a problem with them buying something they want for themselves but the owner has a clear unfair advantage since she does not have to pay a buyers premium of 10% an auction is supposed to be fair and unbiased all players are supposed to be on equal footing. If they want to get a certain dollar amount then they should put a reserve price on the item in advance not bid it up so i'm not wasting my time bidding when they are going to take those items for themselves what they are doing is immoral and unfair practice auction is supposed to be that items go to the highest bidder and not bid up by the auction company maybe Maxsold did not make that clear to to companies that represent but you might want to look into it
I love being able to see the items online and bid. It allows me to know if I am winning just like if it were a real auction and I was sitting around waiting. I have purchased from separate MaxSold auctions and the team members are fantastic. I am already looking for my next bargain.
I love Maxsold! It's amazing and you'll never know what you'll find. I'm always on the lookout at what auctions are in my area. Thanks Maxsold!
I have found some wonderful deals with MaxSold! From bathroom decor to ceramic planters to decorative baskets to beautiful pictures for my walls! There's something for everyone! And at prices that can't be beat in any thrift store!
I buy for resale on multiple platforms. Sourcing can be difficult. Maxsold offers a way to get a lot of stuff at one time and reasonable prices. The on site staff couldnt be more helpful, and the telephone support is equally helpful. The company is constantly trying to streamline the process and regularly asks for opinions to make things better which I appreciate.
I have been buying online estate auctions for resale for 5 years, I have purchased from 5 separate auctions by MaxSold. 2 of the 5 I never received my items as a result of actions by MaxSold employees. 1 of the 5 was a complete rip off, the items were in awful condition. One of the 5 auctions I consoled a seller, he was crying because "MaxSold had kept all the money", he did not make one dime. The website will not even release the contact information for the onsite manager, if you have a problem. THEY REFUSE TO REFUND MONEY! Awful business, RUN do not walk AWAY. USE ANYONE ELSE
Response: It’s an unfortunate reality that some bidders shop on MaxSold without fully appreciating what we do and what their obligations are as bidders (www.maxsold.com/terms) to the Seller in a MaxSold auction. We also don’t have onsite managers as we are typically selling goods directly from a Seller’s home. We do have an efficient claims process that allows us to correct cataloging errors (if any). To day, our refund rate remains less than 2% of our auction totals. Our model provides a unique opportunity for bidders to purchase a wide variety of items through competitive auction starting at $1 without reserves, but this opportunity comes with the responsibility that, without fail, winning bidders will remove items purchased during the pre published time window provided by the Seller to ensure the Seller can move on with their move or estate plans (typically a next day real estate closure). If bidders do not remove their items during the pickup time published, as per the above mentioned terms, bidders acknowledge that they forfeit their items and purchase price and are subject to removal from the bidding community for creating a disposal problem for the Seller that otherwise would not exist. Bidders are removed due to unethical behaviour and/or abuse of the bidder terms and conditions. To date, MaxSold has removed less than 0.05% of all registered bidders.

I love maxsold bc you can get some really cool stuff for very cheap at local auctions in the comfort of your home!
Not only did they sell my antiques and expensive item for about $1.00 they sold all these things to people who were reselling everything! And they knew it every person that came to my door they knew on a first name basis! It seemed as if the did this all the time and it was a regular routine! I knot only lost a lot of my money and special antique items I ended up paying them on most of the items! So beware this is a scam!
It’s an unfortunate reality that some Sellers hire MaxSold without fully appreciating what we do and what the market is willing to pay for their items. We do our very best to provide both a detailed outline (www.maxsold.com/sell) and all our past auction data (www.maxsold.com/past) to prepare sellers for the realities of their situation but ultimately, some choose not to review the data and information we make public.
In addition, this Seller’s auction was conducted about 8 months ago and since that time, we have made changes to both our fees and our process to help reduce confusion as well as improve the Seller perspective on the problem - if you're interested in what the actual problem is, check out:

Feel free to check out the results of this auction for yourself. We are transparent with all our results and, although we are confident that a 3rd party professional appraiser would approve our our results, we are sorry this seller feels we provided a less than satisfactory result.

We recently sold my mothers home, as she was moving to a retirement community.
We had a fairly tight timeline, so we were concerned that we could have the house cleared out in time for settlement, but they did a great job of accommodating our schedule. After signing up with Maxsold, they had a team of 7 at the house within a week to photograph and catalog everything. Two days later we approved the catalog, and we were live the next day. Pick up day, Maxsold had another team of 7 who handled everything. They escorted all the buyers into the house, the buyers packed and moved everything, we didn't need to do a thing. The team was professional, very friendly, and compassionate. Best of all, the overall sale exceeded our expectations.
If i could do one thing different... There were a couple items that I believe could have brought a higher sale, and cataloged or photographed a little better to highlight the brand of markings. However, catalog day was extremely busy, so i believe could have done my homework a little better and i should have provided some information for these items.
As a regular buyer from MaxSold, I was a happy customer. Finding great deals and scoring bargains was fun and easy to do. Recently, I crossed over to the other side and became a seller... and the results were just as good, if not better. The extra stuff in my house is gone, and a chequered is on the way.
Love Maxsold! The process is so easy and worry free. I thought going to find and pick up my items was going to be a hassle but it WASN'T. I just drove up, my item was right there, I loaded it and in 5 minutes it was all done. Plus it's fun and easy doing the bidding.
You can log on the maxsold.com page - scroll thru the auctions and bid at your convenience - pick ups are easy - quick and time slotted to make your pick up even easier!
Answer: The site states clearly that you must pick up your article at the specific time and place. If you cannot do that or arrange for someone to do it for you... then don't bid.
Answer: Definitely not on their youtube channel as they've removed the ability to comment. This alone was enough for me to steer clear.
Answer: Please see our past auction results at http://maxsold.com/past-auctions/ - every auction we've done is listed for public viewing. You will see the sell through rate for each auction, and you can calculate the percent sold. Our average sell through is 98.7%.
Answer: Winning bids are charged to the credit card on file right AFTER each auction ends, along with 10% buyers premium and the applicable retail sales tax for your region. The first time you bid at any of our auctions, your card will be pre-authorized for $1.00. However, it is only a bank authorization for validation, not a charge, and it is usually removed in about a week by your bank.
Answer: Hi Peter, We found that when minimum bids or reserves are put on items, they typically go unsold. For more information on why we start our items at $1 check out this link: http://maxsold.com/reserve Here are some Seller FAQ's https://support.maxsold.com/hc/en-us/sections/200632154-Seller-FAQs You may also reach out to our sales team directly at our toll-free number 1-877-257-7799 ext 2. Answer: $700 + 30% if they do the photos and pick-up. If you do the work on your side it is $300 or 30% whatever is higher. It is near the bottom of this link. https://get.maxsold.com/sell-with-maxsold/
MaxSold.com online auctions provides local expert help to sell goods through our hyper-local online auction service when downsizing, estate sale or clearing business inventory.
Based on this bidders feedback it’s clear there’s was communication breakdown on site. Our model provides a unique opportunity for bidders to purchase a wide variety of items through competitive auction starting at $1 without reserves. In this case, the Seller hired a very reputable company to support them with their downsize (services that typically include planning, packing, moving, preparing the home for sale, etc.). In these instances, the employees of that service are allowed to bid on the Seller’s items (just like the Seller might invite their painter, landscaper, house cleaner, home nurse, etc. to bid). The rules are the same for them as any other bidder. The slight advantage they have is that they know the goods a little better as they sometimes (as in this case) assist the seller with their auction instead of having Maxsold conduct the onsite activities (just like a neighbor might have an advantage if they were helping someone with a sale).
Although we appreciate that the perception of an unfair practice (items being ‘bid up’ at an advantageous buy-back price), our 98% sell-through (and 99% removal) rate suggests that this is only a perception (and not the truth) as our sellers (or their partners) would not invest the time and money to bid on items they have to pay full commissions and taxes on (including buyer’s premium) and then have to pay for them to disappear from the site on the day of pickup as well.
If this (or any other buyer) remains unconvinced, I would invite them to show up near the end of a pickup to see the items (or lack thereof) left over after all the buyers have come.
