MadBid Reviews Summary

The company has garnered a mixed reputation among customers, with some praising the potential for significant savings and a positive experience with customer support. However, a substantial number of reviews highlight serious concerns regarding product quality, misleading descriptions, and a lack of transparency about fees. Many customers express frustration over difficulties in obtaining refunds and the perceived gambling nature of the bidding process. Overall, while there are positive experiences, the prevailing sentiment suggests caution, as numerous users report feeling misled and dissatisfied with their purchases.

I'm glad I checked reviews of MadBid before using it! This article makes it sound too good to be true. Why would any company sell you things at a loss to themselves?! They wouldn't. There's always a trick.

Does anyone seriously believe this site? I'm only here because I saw the advert on the daily mail site and thought I'd check out the reviews as there's always one person who fell for it, but itv seems loads have! A Mac book for £20 lol who actually thought that they could get that deal?

One of my friends used to work at Madbid and says he knows the company pays people to bid against legitimate customers in order to make them have to rebid to use more credit. The site is absolutely ripping people off and anyone with anything good to say about the site is more than likely one of those paid employees who bid against proper customers.

SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM!
February 23, 2015

I was relieved of £99.99 within 30 minutes and have NOTHING to show for it! As a fairly intelligent woman, I have to say I was completely blinded by clever marketing and a clean looking website (Ididn't see it coming). Also, they play on your need or desire for a bargain. In my case, it was the NEED for a bargain, as money has been tough following multiple strokes that has left me incapable of work and disabled in the last year. I desperately needed a T. V after mine broke.

My advice, STAY AWAY! Why I didn't come to look at reviews first I'll never know! Thing is, they plant clever consumer review articles around the place, I think I read mine in a magazine. Consumer reporter tested Madbid for getting a bargain on an ipad I think... he went to the site, bid once or twice and won the item at 80% off retail price. Complete crap! These articles are obviously written and paid for by Madbid. I wish I still had it, I would contact the publisher. This is why I signed up. Grrrr!

Today for the last 4 hours I have watched countless amounts of people place thousands of pounds of bids on a one thousand pound TV. One by one they have dropped off as they have run out of credits. Some of them bid for over an hour. In my experience I know this must have cost each one of them more than £200. You do the maths. Each one of these now walk away with nothing! You pay for every one of those bids. £100 will buy you 1000 credits. The auctions that is taking place right now charges you 8 credits per bid. This gives you only 125 bids. That's a staggering 80p to bid ONCE! So it's no wonder that £100 can be gone in 30 minutes. Reminding you again... you are walking away with absolutely nothing!

Still waiting for a response from Madbid, but I do not expect anything satisfactory to come from my correspondence. The best I can do is warn others not to make the same mistake.

Of course it's a scam! There is a sure fire and totally error free method of identifying any scam: does it sound too good to be true? Answer - "yes" = scam. 100% of the time, NO EXCEPTIONS.
I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Soon as I saw the ads for Madrid it screamed scam immediately. They might as well flashed that word across the screen throughout the whole advert it was that obvious.
What amazes me is the amount of idiots who fall for it! Honestly, some people shouldn't be allowed out. That's how they make their money of course.

Looks like scammers..
February 18, 2015

I have tried so many times to win the item. It seems like someone is manipulating the system not allowing you to win. I have seen so many times that someone(could be fake internal bidder) wins on lowest price straight away once you missed to bid. As soon as you start, it goes on and on, never let you win. At one stage on one item, no one was bidding after my bid, but system kept checking after the zero count until someone put their bid after 2-3 minutes later, and did not let me win even after auction timer went zero for 2-3 minutes. My connection to Internet was 3G and quite quick as I was able to see other auctioned item updating quickly on the same time.
This sort of incident happened for few times and only way it can be described as SCAM.

I wish I had read these reviews before I parted wth £49.99. I agree with just about all of them. I emailed madbid for a refund of the balance but was informed that as I had partially used the funds I was not entitled to any refund. I was bidding on something and was on for over 30 minuits and lost the will to live, so gave up when I realised what their game was. I agree they are the only ones to make money out of this. I've put this loss down to experience. SAVE YOUR MONEY.

All you people saying this is a scam are making me laugh. Clearly you didn't read or research this site very well.
I found this site back in 2013 and decided to have a go. Id been looking for an ereader but couldn't decide which one I wanted. Madbid had a few on auction. I placed an automatic bid on a Kindle Paperwhite. I won it for 7p. Ok, ok. I bought 275 credits which at the time were £13.95 (on an offer I think) and P&P was £7.99 but I didn't really care. Id just got the Kindle I wanted for £22. Bargain.

This site is what is advertised as a "penny" bid Auction. It is nothing of the sort. To bid on this site you must buy "credits" To get enough to bid they want your card details. When you get your "credits" and start to bid you will find the so called "credits" disappear very very quickly, so now you buy more. Get the idea. And when you find that you have been outbid and lost the object you wanted, you have also lost your credits. Unlike a true auction where you still retain your money. So now you have to buy more. So monitor your card statements very closely.

This site (and ones like it) need to be SHUT DOWN before other unwary innocent people lose money.
If anyone knows how we might campaign to do this can you please post it. Surely the power of the masses should mean something.
So many people have fallen for this style of 'pay to bid' auction and lose their money in 20 mins. Like me they assume it is a normal auction site and find out too late it is really more akin to gambling.

I wish i would have seen this site before opening an account. I read an article that paints a very nice picture saying that it works. Well. It doesn't. I've spent $100 today (first day) and i won absolutely nothing. The timing of the bids seems to be fixed sometimes where even if you bid on time it says "oh it's closed". I also got charged more in my credit card than what they said i had to pay (and when i say more i'm talking about $50).
Stay away from that site, it's not as wonderful as they make it seem.

STAY AWAY from Madbid
January 6, 2015

STAY AWAY from Madbid. It's a very clever way off ripping you off. Read all other reviews before you spend your money for so called "credits". Because you will never see your money again. Winning a bit? Yes it is possible, but only if you waste hours bidding and spend lots of money for "credits". Believe me it's not worth a hassle. Hunt for your bargains somewhere else.

It's a con, pure and simple. You buy credits and then these credits are used to bid with. If you actually manage to win a bid you then have to pay for the item you have purchased separately, regardless of how many 'credits' you have. It's win win for 'madbid.com, but lose lose for us poor suckers.

This site is designed to take money, not sell products, the product is a side isuue. The key to their profit it the bidding process, what auction makes you pay to BID! They have tiny bids so their are hundreds, if not thousands per item. I bought £50 worth of credits and they were gone in lesss than an hour, money gone.
The site did not make it clear that this is what happens and they did not make it clear you were going on AUTO bid when you clicked on bid. IT IS A COMPLETE SCAM.
PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THEM, there are no bargains

I paid £34.99 for credits. I did not know that if the item you are bidding on went over this amount, then that's it! You cannot bid anymore. My £34.99 was gone - just like that! What a con. Do not use the site. I could have bought a lovely Christmas present with the wasted money.
