There were some dated movies attached to my VHS. Legacy Box was attentive to that and loaded them on a separate DVD. I did appreciate that extra bonus at no charge because they were not relevant for my family history.
I've heard their add on the radio numerous times, and decided to send in my collection of mini dv tapes, i read the bad reviews on problems they've had with these certain tapes, but still gave them a shot, figuring my tapes weren't very old and haven't been watched a lot, but lo and behold, after a 3 month wait, we got an email saying that they started the process, and then another one stating that there was some issues with some of the tapes but was going to process them anyway, then i was sent a link to download my videos (these emails were all sent on the same day and a couple of hours apart) so out of the 25+ hours of video i sent them, I received about 2 hours back.and half of those were grainy. On a side note: we ran all 13 tapes back through our camcorder when we received them back and there was no problem at all with any of them? So people... PLEASE! Be aware!
The Legacybox was a Christmas gift and that is how I first learned about it. I did call twice before sending with questions I had and responses were very hospitable, courteous and helpful. The order was received back in great packing shape and the work done gives one a memorable experience each time it is viewed. Thank you!
I sent several VHS tapes to them, got lots of emails about progress, a promised 6-8 weeks. Started calling and emailing after about 9 weeks..."busy" "high holiday demand" etc etc... finally got them after about 15-16 weeks. No emails after about 8 weeks. DVDs are of very poor quality and barely viewable or not at all. USB are much better. Would NEVER use them again. Better to check out local converters instead.

We advertise that we perform a one-to-one transfer of everything that we receive. If there is an issue with the original, those issues will translate over to the digital copies.
We cannot restore, edit or improve the quality of tapes. Due to the age and natural deterioration of tapes, sometimes quality issues may occur during the digitization process. If you are certain that your original items are in better condition than the digital version you received back, we would be happy to set up a return for those items to be reprocessed. I see that you have been in touch with our customer service team several times to set up a new order since you had originally cancelled and then sent your order in, in two boxes and our team worked to get that straightened out for you since this is not our normal process. If you would like to have your items reprocessed, please let the customer service team know so that we can take care of that for you.
Sent some old video tapes, received them back in a few weeks on a usb drive. Played them and shared so many happy tears with my family. My grandfather passed away in 2006 and he was in so many of them. It was great to hear his voice. My mom said this was the best gift I ever got her.

I will just say DO NOT use them. They lost my box and all the memories in it. After having my box for 3 months (and me giving them the benefit of doubt due to Covid, etc.) I found out that my box with precious memories is missing. We are now in Month #6 of them trying to find the box. They did refund me but I can assure you that does not make up for the lost memories so just don't use them.

I bought package of 40 and spent the last six months going through albums and picking out 25 pictures for each of the labeled bags as instructed. I constructed each of the 40 packages of 25 according to theme. For example, one bag had 25 pictures of one sons birthday parties over the years, another of their best friends over the year, another of family trips. BUT, when I went to label each bag I discovered that the bags of 25 are only for THEIR convenience. IN fact, they will process my 1000 pictures and put them on the cloud or on a CD in random order. UGH! No hint of the website that all pictures would be placed on disc, essentially at random!

There was a bit of miss communication in the start of my experience BUT the end result is that I now have a treasure of history to share with my family and they can pass it on to their families... all of this because of Legacybox. The Customer Service, I had to communicate via typing messages, were pro active and attentive and read and understood my need and situation. Above and beyond! I purchased a 40 item package to do a large order and recovery of our old family videotapes. Even though I had used Legacybox before, I was extremely disappointed with the quality of my service this time. It took several months to get my tapes back, and they sent back tapes as unable to transfer. However, when I took the tapes to a local transfer company, they had no problem with the transfer. I essentially had to pay twice to have those tapes transferred, and Legacybox could not get the job done. I wish that I had gone with the local company from the beginning. When I tried to communicated with Legacybox's customer service, my concerns were dismissed.
Legacy box is a blessing. My mom hasn't smiled for a long time grieving over the passing of my father. She had a box of tapes so I sent them in. Outstanding service from this company from beginning to end. They let you know every step of the way on your order. Work is fantastic! I give this company 5 stars. My mom has a reason to smile again. I ordered boxes to put photographs in and only after the boxes arrived. Did I learn that it only takes certain size photos. Many of my photos are larger or smaller than what it takes and that doesn't work for me. I've tried to reach out and cannot get anybody to respond. I want a refund. Meanwhile, before I figure this out, I ordered a box to send in 8 mm films. Only by accident while flipping around on the webpage to find someone to talk to me. Did I figure out that they do not transfer sound on 8 mm film. Every other company does this not sure why they don't. So now I want a refund for that box but once again, I cannot get anyone to respond.
Everything went as expected. I was informed at each stage of progress, and didn't have any problems. Some of my VHS tapes are more than 30 years old, and I haven't watched them in 25 years, but they turned out good and it was great watching them. Great job. Got everything back as promised.
They couldn't convert my media and did not refund me properly. I've called four times and waited on hold for over 20 minutes and no one answers the phone. When I texted them - they refunded a card I no longer had. I told them this and they said it would appear in my bank account 10 days from now; however, the refund stated VISA ending in X. I told them this and they said "as stated before you'll receive it in 10 days" I've never even given them my bank account info! Now they will not respond at all and it's been two days. I think it's extremely unprofessional & now I have to jump through hoops to get my money back for media they couldn't even convert.
I had some old slides and home movies from when I was a kid, with no projector(s) so they were useless. I sent them all in to Legacy Box, and they put them on DVDs and a thumb drive. The company was easy to work with, and everything came back sooner than expected! Very pleased with their service. :)

So far I've had 22 home videos converted to digital and I'm very pleased with everything from shipping, progress updates, quick turnaround to the quality of the completed videos. I have a few more to convert, then my children will have digital memories to cherish.
I just got my Legacy box back. I sent in 14 VHS tapes and paid for DVDs. The quality on all 14 disks were AWFUL. This was a gift and I will not be able to do it. I contacted them and was told I needed to send copies through email so they can see the problem. I don't know how to do this. I really want my money back.
Answer: All Video and Film Transfers are done so at 480P. Additionally, we convert almost all consumer formats of videotapes, photos, film reels, and audio. Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back!
