Legacy box took all of our old family vhs tapes and quickly turned them into DVD's that will preserve our memories for a lifetime. Quick, easy, and efficient. The company kept me informed thru email. We sent in 100 slides and viewed each one to make sure that they were good. Their work was terrible, the color was horrible, faces looked orange with black flecks all over the pictures. I wanted a full refund, but was told I could only get part of a refund. Customer service was terrible. They tried to charge me three different charges, over and above what I had paid. I would ask what the charge was for and the only answer they would say was an item. They finally figured it out, I didn't owe anything.

We apologize that the digitized version of your media did not meet your expectations! We always try to get the best quality conversion possible. However, the quality of the transfer ultimately depends on the quality of the original items. We do not offer any sort of restoration, enhancement, or editing of your items. If there is an issue with the original, those issues will translate over to the digital copies. To be more specific, we do not offer: color correction, brightening, HD remastering, combining footage, or otherwise alter the composition of the original media. There are companies out there who specialize in these types of services, but we simply offer a one-to-one transfer. I hope this is helpful! My mom passed away last April and I have 7 siblings and I have all mom's pictures. I heard about legacy box and was a little nervous about sending out the originals. Legacy box took excellent care of these prized photos and digitized them beautifully. I will be sending more soon. They surpassed my expectations.

I have a cassette tape which was made in 1992 that I didn't dare play for fear it would be destroyed. A friend suggested Legacy. What did I have to lose?
To my surprise and great delight, when I played the digital download, I had my cousin singing as beautifully as when she did the tape in 1992 (she has since lost her singing voice and this means even more)!
Legacy digitally cleaned up the imperfections; it was as if this had been mixed in a studio! The original was returned. I can't say enough how impressed I am with the quality of the download!

I have a ton of old tapes from a camcorder that no longer works. I have nothing to lose by sending these to Legacybox because currently I can't even view them. I love that you are able to salvage what you can but it makes me wonder what I'm missing from the videos. We'll never know but I'm thrilled to get what I can from them. Anything is better than nothing! Now that our sons are adults, they actually look forward to seeing the latest videos we've had restored. Thank you!
I had not seen these movies since about 40 years ago and was shocked to see how well they had been cleaned up and saved. The Legacybox crew did an amazing job and bringing them back from the 'almost' dead. They are clear, bright and now saved for posterity. I highly recommend Legacybox if you are looking to clean up and save your old family movies... they even managed to save my mother and fathers wedding from 1948! Great job!
I finally got my video tapes together and sent them off to Legacy Box. What a great decision. Videos of our children growing up, special family events, even the shows we were in - all on my computer now to be enjoyed from now on. The company was helpful, answered my questions patiently, and did a beautiful job of packing everything up to return to me so I have them all back - even with notes letting me know where there were problems on my tapes. I plan to send in more tapes. Now that I see how easy it is, I won't hesitate.

My third order is in the process of digitizing at this time. The first order was sold, there was a lot of empty space but hints of family activities that showed up faintly. I haven't gotten to preview the second order due to holidays, etc. My third batch of films and video is almost finished. I'm glad I took advantage of Legacy's process. My family now has memories that would have been lost; but now are available for future generations.
I sent 10 VHS tapes to Legacybox in December of 2022. I paid over $100 for them to convert them to digital media. For weeks I received pointless "updates" on my order, and then in march received an email stating that "...one or more of your analog media items arrived with some pre-existing wear and tear. We did everything we could, but unfortunately were unable to convert it." No explanation or clarity (All tapes have been stored indoors and were in good shape.) Mind you, each tape had a bar code so they could have identified which tapes did not work---but they didn't. Instead, after 3 months I received my box with the tapes and a flash drive with 2- 20 minute videos in low resolution MP4 format. What a bummer. The customer service was non-existent by phone/email/text. Total rip off. I am a VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER!

I had several different formats of tapes from when my children were growing up that we not watchable as we didn't have the devices anymore. They were all converted to a thumb drive by legacy box and I can now watch them anytime on my computer. Furthermore I sent the clips to my grown children and they could watch themselves in childhood interactions that they had never seen before.

I purchased a Legacybox for my mother's Christmas 2016 gift so that she could finally get all of those VHS-C tapes converted before they further deteriorated. Just a few months later, my father died and my mother misplaced the box. Fast forward to 2019, and I contacted Legacybox customer service about getting another box sent and explaining my situation. I received a prompt reply, and the customer service representative was very understanding and helpful. She sent a new box to me with updated postage for a very small fee. I finally sent away my mother's box to be converted in Christmas 2020, and the entire experience was great. I received regular updates about the status of my tapes, as well as some heads up about quality issues in advance. Although I was understandably hesitant to send my family's priceless tapes in the mail, Legacybox made me feel comfortable through the process. I truly felt cared for by Legacybox.
I sent in several high quality items, expecting quality results. I did not get that, complained in writing and asked for a refund. To be clear, their customer service is truly excellent, but the finished product is degraded (in my opinion). Images on my original format, in some cases were very good and could be played on a large modern TV set (41" inches or bigger) with good results. The image quality I received back from Legacy was clearly, clearly a step down (not much good for viewing on anything other than a smart phone). Some of the items I sent in were not of good quality, and I appreciate Legacy Box completing the order. I do not anticipate using Legacy for any additional work. I will look for another source to use next time. I did not receive an offer of a refund.
I am currently waiting on my USB that I ordered, but I have to say the ordering process is so simple. I received my legacybox within a couple of weeks with very clear instructions on the next steps. I received an email with these instructions too prior to getting my item. Shipping my VHS tapes back to them was super easy and when I emailed the company with some questions I had they were very quick to respond and very helpful. Awesome experience so far.
I had about 24 video cassettes to transfer to dvd. It took them roughly 12 weeks to get my stuff back to me and honestly I wasn't impressed with the quality of the videos. They are very grainy. And for the money it wasn't worth it. I wish I would of checked some other companies that swear they are better quality then legacy box from what the inter sites our saying. I did submit a request to have someone contact me and they did e-mail me back asking what they can help me with and I expressed my issue. They have not reached back out yet. I would say to look at other companies before you decide on going with them.

There were some dated movies attached to my VHS. Legacy Box was attentive to that and loaded them on a separate DVD. I did appreciate that extra bonus at no charge because they were not relevant for my family history.
Answer: All Video and Film Transfers are done so at 480P. Additionally, we convert almost all consumer formats of videotapes, photos, film reels, and audio. Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Answer: Nope. They took 3 months to tell me an item was "damaged" and then told me their refund policy was 20% or more of the media damaged to give any refund.
Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back!
