This was my second Legacybox experience, so, obviously, the first one went well! I appreciated the ease of the shipping process, the ongoing updates, and getting our files digitally via Google Drive (so nice to not have to download a proprietary app to access the files). I truly wish I'd done this sooner, as our tapes may have been less degraded due to age. My husband and I feel like we know each other better after seeing and hearing each other's memorable moments! This was money extremely well spent—a great gift to ourselves!
A 10-tape conversion was a Christmas gift from our daughter. Legacybox's customer service was very helpful and prompt in answering questions, adding additional tapes to the order and adjusting contact/billing information. Great experience overall!
I'm so disappointed with the treatment I am receiving from Legacy Box. I sent in my tapes months ago and received update emails but until today have been unable to speak with a human. They currently possess my most precious memories which I would like returned before they are gone forever. The agent on the phone was so uncaring and said she could move them to production immediately but could not return them. I would like them back with a refund ASAP. Apparently a manager is calling me. I just want my belongings back. Legacy Box failed to deliver on every level!
In short, I sent two tapes into Legacy Box. One was great, just as expected, put both digitally and on a thumb drive for me. The second was someone else's video. Unfortunately, they do not bother to check the final product. They would like to me to re-send my tape in to start the 1.5 month process over again, but lucky me they gave me a little bit of a refund. I now have to (as I would never send them anything again) purchase my own equipment and attempt to do this myself. Don't bother. It's SO easy and SO simple for them yet they cannot handle it.
The tapes were from the early 2020's and I feel they did their best. I am looking at doing a few more, just have to figure out what and get them together. And, I will honestly probably wait for a special as this is expensive venture. Thank You.
I purchased a legacy box and had some of my old files converted to digital. Most of the files turned out OK but several were corrupted when they returned from Legacy box. That's fine- we should be able to fix that. But actually, no we cant fix that of legacy box will not reply to any mails. I have tried numerous times.
Although I used Legacy Box before and was satisfied, the last order returned photos that were backwards (terrible for book titles) and several with the top eliminated causing people to be headless.
Whoever did my order should be fired!

50 years ago I placed a box of about 40,8mm films on a shelf in the closet. The Legacy Box ads finally convinced me to try the service. I pulled down the dusty box, doubting that the reels were still viable, and selected 3 to send in.
Days later I put the thumb drive in my computer and was overwhelmed with the result. So many treasured memories were on display. I saw our children as babies, parents and my wife and I when we both had dark hair.
Best of all we saw them move, laugh and react to the camera. A still picture can't do that.
We will be sending more reels in the near future.

Many, many of the people depicted in the DVDs you made for me are no longer with us. These revived memories are priceless. One video tape in particular was in an odd format that I had no hope of ever seeing again. It just happened to be my retirement party from work in August 1996. That one DVD alone was worth the price of admission. As an old a/v and recording technician I continue to be amazed at the scope of the conversion machinery which you have made available. Please keep up the good work.

I was nervous about the cost, when I had no way to view the home movies taken by my parents and didn't know what was on each reel. The cost was so worth the rush of nostalgia that washed over me at the sight of friends and family members long passed and others looking 50 years younger! So many things I had forgotten about, but memories came rushing back. I was amazed at how steady and clear nearly all of the 24 reels sent in were. All on a single flash drive. Living in rural California means I have a "go box" during fire season. This flash drive means my family's memories will fit in my purse rather than in one more heavy suitcase to be packed in a hurry. I will definitely be sending the rest of my movies and slides as I can afford it.

Customer service non-existent, dvd quality was snow and static, took from October to January to complete and would not contact us back, no customer service number, just run around with emails.
On the other hand they are great about sending texts on current specials…even though they cannot produce the work?
I trusted LegacyBox to digitize my cherished home videos. The DVD's I received in return were not mine, and I can only assume my home videos are now in the possession of another family. I did receive a flash drive with my digitized videos, and the quality is horrendous. There is barely any volume, and the picture quality is poor (compared to other digitizing services I have used). Their customer service department has not fixed the problem or offered a refund. There are long wait times for phone calls (over 15 minutes), and they do not respond to texts or emails (even though they recommend them for communication). We are very disappointed. I would warn others not to trust this company with your memories.
My dad passed away 2 years ago and as we were going through belongings we found a vhs tape of my parents anniversary. I heard about Legacy Box and thought why not? Sent off the tape and within a few weeks received a dvd copy along with the original vhs tape. It's like getting a piece of my dad back. Hearing is voice again means more than I could put into words! I highly recommend this service.

I had some old film converted to digital for my 93 year old grandmother's Christmas gift! She will be able to see her parents, sisters, and husband in motion for the first time in 20 years! LegacyBox was SO EASY! I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Our films were put on used CDs. In the middle of our family memories, we have a portion of a televised baseball game. On another CD we have some random guys sitting around a campfire and another has the TV news. We paid $550 for terrible copies. Do NOT use these people!
My Mom had a box full of reels of film which were useless to us since we no longer had the projector. So although there was a tiny bit of distortion in the video, it was worth every penny and I would use LegacyBox again. It has been great viewing family events and outings from years ago, so LegacyBox is performing a wonderful service. LegacyBox helped me remember what a great childhood I had! Thank you!

Dug out a few VHS tapes I had always wanted digitized, tapes of a trip to England with hours of recollection from a great-aunt, the last of her generation. They were priceless to me and I recently realized I needed to "save" them for future generations of my family. The digital copies can now be shared by dozens of cousins and their families, and passed on for all time. Thanks to Legacybox!

After dismantling 46 family photo albums 7 years ago, all of our family photos languished in boxes and bins through 3 moves of our household. Don't waste your time with this, seriously. They will send you a ton of emails saying they're working on your order. Then when they decide they can't covert your media (due to being damaged on arrival yet they didn't alert me until they already shipped it back) they tell you tough luck. You will end up paying for x amount and getting less and they will keep your money. It took 3 months for us to get a few tapes back and after reading further reviews i will not be shocked if they are horrible quality. Don't waste your money and time.
Answer: All Video and Film Transfers are done so at 480P. Additionally, we convert almost all consumer formats of videotapes, photos, film reels, and audio. Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Answer: Nope. They took 3 months to tell me an item was "damaged" and then told me their refund policy was 20% or more of the media damaged to give any refund.
Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back!
