I would say I'm like most who were skeptical sending their memories of family, friends, holidays etc away and hoping for a safe return. Well my experience with Legacybox was everything I hoped for. The process was very simple and straightforward. After shipping my tapes out, I was updated on the status, which made my nerves relax. I received the finished tapes a lot sooner then I expected. I got this gift for my husband who is impossible to get a gift for. He had not seen any of the videos he's taken when he was in his 20's, travelling abroad nor any of the videos we took when the kids were little. Being able to watch them all these year later on our laptop brought so much joy and laughter, which is just priceless. Had I not used Legacy box, those old tapes would have remained in storage and never had been viewed. This was the best money spent.

Be cautious when purchasing any discounts from this company. They make it seem like they are giving you a good deal but when you get into it you will end up spending far more than you originally planned. They do not run a transparent shop. I would not do business with them again.

I am totally impressed with Legacy box. One of my tapes was empty so they offered to transfer another for free. And the turn around time was very fast! This is an efficient operation. I never worried about my precious tapes!
Legacy box received my order in early October and I didn't get it till mid January!
They kept sending me emails from the beginning like my box was assigned and so on looking as if it were being processed. Just not satisfied with the whole ordeal.
I will NEVER send them my business again!
This is such a great service! Aside from being easy & convenient, they provide the ability to access memories that may have otherwise been lost with today's new technologies. It was so nice to look back on home movies with my mom & give this gift to her. Highly recommend- the process was seamless.

This was my first and likely only experience converting old film to digital but I found the process very easy. Legacybox kept me informed throughout the process and did what I think is as good a job as possible. The final product is somewhat grainy and to my dismay, those old films are every bit as boring as when I first shot them. I do a pretty good job editing still photos but am a novice in video editing. Without some serious editing, I think the digital version of those old films will hold little if any interest. But that's not Legacybox's fault. They run a very well organized operation and I would recommend them
I mistakenly hit the wrong button and ended up placing an order costing $46. When I saw a new charge on my credit card, I sent an email explaining what happened and they took $25 for my mistake. There are other companies out there who supply the same service. You might want to check them out rather than pay a 50% charge for being a 75 year old person who has problems using a keyboard but I just got a $25 lesson. Thank you Legacy Box!
Haven't had a chance to watch every DVD but I'm confident the Legacy team did their best. Excellent customer service with timely and personal responses. With a little patience I'm sure all will be satisfied.
I gave 1 star because there was no option for zero. We sent VHS tapes to be converted and discovered after numerous emails and phone calls they were "lost" in their "secure" warehouse. They claim to use sophisticated tracking systems, not true. Our tapes were lost 1 year ago and we are still sending emails and making phone calls to customer representatives who keep saying they are still looking. They never contact us for updates, they respond only after we leave numerous messages. When I spoke with one of the founders he gave us the same run-a-round, and failed to follow-up with updates. If you value your memories DO NOT trust Legacy Box
We have sent quite a number of our family memories (videos mainly) to Legacybox for preservation and they have done a wonderful job! The quality from old videotapes was amazing (did not play on my tape player that well before). Having these memories digitized will help them last for a very long time and make them much easier to share with family members. The quality of work, the customer support, and the detail instructions made this all simple and rewarding. I am very grateful for the excellent service Legacybox provides!

Let me start by saying that I purchased directly through Legacy Boxes website but I need to review for others to know about how horrible they are. I purchased the 40 item legacy box for my parents for Christmas. Between the shipping, taxes, dvds, and a one time download the total came out to $610. Mind you, this was bought on Black Friday and 50% off! Well, turned out my parents already digitized their old VHS so I inquired about a return. I was told returns are good within 30 days minus shipping and restock fee. It took them 17 days and refunded $447. I got charged 150 dollars for a cardboard box that I paid shipping on! It is literally a cardboard box. Not even one of the nice ones that shows in the picture. There are so many options to digitize. Please do you homework. Great choices on Amazon for around 150 dollars and you can do all your VHS yourself. This is a shady company that won't be around for long.
Do not use legacybox. The advertised price keeps growing with unexpected charges and the alleged discounts disappear. Furthermore, they make no attempt to solve any problems. The customer service consists of denials and evasion of responsibility. I received 12 emails until I just gave up.
Legacybox has my order of 5 or 6 VCR tapes to digital. The order was placed in December and they sent verification of it Jan. 6. It is March 17 and when I called them today to ask what had happened, they said it is in line waiting for production. That is is over 3 months for what was advertised as a 6-8 week turn around. They told me that it "should" be processed by April 7th or 14, so we're talking 4 months, rather than the advertised 6-8 weeks. This of course assumes that they have the items and have not lost them. Think carefully before sending in your treasured items.
Overall, the re-production of my tapes came out well considering some were over 50 years old. Seeing all our parents, grandparents and other beloved deceased family members in these recreated tapes brought tears to our eyes and delighted our hearts!
We had old super 8 film from 1962, 1968, 1975 and 1976 in different reels! We were worried they would break and crumble. Legacy box did a great job and preserved our memories! Thank you! Will definitely send more reels!
Sent years of my family Christmas tapes of varied sizes that I can no longer play even in the original video cameras as they ultimately begin to damage tapes. It is worrisome to send out what you know can never be replaced if lost. Legacy does a very nice job soothing those concerns with the emails during the process. Having them back and having the finished product that can be copied and saved in numerous locations or shared with other family members... the relief, the joy in watching, in sharing and having the keepsakes secure, is a true gift of a lifetime.

Answer: All Video and Film Transfers are done so at 480P. Additionally, we convert almost all consumer formats of videotapes, photos, film reels, and audio. Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Answer: Nope. They took 3 months to tell me an item was "damaged" and then told me their refund policy was 20% or more of the media damaged to give any refund.
Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back!
