Everything went well and pleased with the results. Mail was slow, but I was in no hurry. Plan to send other items to put on disc
Very helpful. They accommodated us even when the reel was too big for the legacy box. Excellent service.
I ordered my movie conversions April 18th, with the hopes of giving them to my daughter to play at her wedding. Well, the July wedding came and went with no movies returned. (7 weeks with a stated return time of 4-6 weeks). Just take that bull $#*! right out of your procesing description! I thought, I will give them to my daughter for her Birthday. For sure they will come by then. NOPE! AUGUST 15TH aprox. 16 weeks, and no movies! However, after counting the number of advertisements (57 and still counting) I realized they aren't processing my movies, they are creating ads, sales, and marketing their service. WHY? YOU CANT EVEN HANDLE THE JOBS YOU HAVE NOW. I'm starting to get a visual of 2 dudes in their mom's garage, converting our movies. STEAR CLEAR! I still don't have my movies and it's August 26th. WTF? Do not respond to me with the same form response about being the "busy season bla bla bla. You Suck!
Would use LegacyBox again for sure. Super smooth experience with them. Great communication from them too. End product was AMAZING!
NOTHING IS TRANSPARENT AND IN ORDER TO COMPLETE MY ORDER AS I THOUGHT, I HAVE TO FORK OUT ANOTHER $20. IT'S BEEN A MONTH, THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY RIGHT AWAY TOO.
They kept in touch via email, i was notified that even though my tapes were older they did all they could to transfer everything over
I was given a Legacy Box as a gift from my wife. I decided to use it for the conversion of slides taken on trips when I was a teenager in the 1960's. The cost covered 10 sets of 25 slides each. The preparation took the better part of four days of carefully going through each trip and choosing the best and most important slides for preservation. I organized each trip, mostly 25 slides each; however, the longest trip to Europe took up about half of the allotment. After waiting over two months, the slides were returned with the flash drive. When I loaded it, my disappointment was profound. Although I had put the slides in order for each trip, labeled them, and put rubber bands around each of the 10 sets to keep them in the exact order, the result was a total mess. Yes, I had been told that they could not guarantee keeping them in the exact order but at least each set would be chronologically correct. What I got was a 1962 trip before a 1960 and 1961 trip. And within each, the slides might as well have been shuffled like a deck of cards or scattered and picked up in no rational order. The flash drive is useless to me and I would not ever show it to another person because the disorder would make no sense. For example, the Europe trip itinerary went from Germany to Switzerland to Italy, yet the order of the slides had it starting in Switzerland and pictures of various countries mixed together. Also, the quality of the slides was poor in terms of coloration, accentuating particles of lint... When I spoke with Legacy Box, they would not acknowledge that anything was wrong and, only after a long debate, agreed to provide a refund. But my time was wasted and I'm left with nothing in the way of memories that can be displayed or shown to anyone.
I ordered Legacybox 3 weeks before Christmas. I didn't find out until it arrived a week later it takes 6 weeks to complete the order. The ordering website is complicated and will kick you to a different section without notice. I thought I had ordered 2 discs and a thumb drive. Turns out I ordered 1 disk and an online download. 6? weeks lateri received notice it had been shipped and I would receive it via ups within a week. I live I've grid with no postal service and ups won't deliver during the winter. Apparently Legacybox has arrangements with ups to drop packages ups can't deliver to the post office. The post office couldn't deliver so they were sending it back. If I hadn't known the local ups drive I would never known what was going on. I got home from to post office opened the box. There was 1 disk, no thumb drive. The disk envelope was mangled and the disk had fingerprints all over it. I cleaned the disk and ran it. The copy was excellent. I contacted Legacybox, they refused to send the 2nd disk or thumb drive saying I didn't pay for them. They did refund 50% of the disk cost ($3.00)! In the meantime the gifts I thought I was giving my sisters were ruined. Find another service if you can!
Hi Franklin, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I do apologize for any confusion regarding your order. We always strive to be as clear and upfront as possible but your feedback has shown us that we can do better! To provide some context, we do advertise on our website in a few places before placing an order that our average processing time is 6-8 weeks. The holidays are the busiest time of the year and we are also working with a limited staff to ensure the safety of our employees during the Covid-19 pandemic so we always want to set the right expectations up front! I apologize that you did not receive a thumb drive or a second copy of discs. As you stated, you placed an order for one disc set and one digital download. The team would not have known you had wanted a thumb drive since one was not ordered. This should be reflected on the order confirmation email received right after placing your order, as well as the email sent when your order arrives and passes through receiving as again we always strive to be as clear and upfront as possible every step of the way. We were unable to create a thumb drive or additional disc set since they were not ordered or paid for but the discs you received back are free from any copyrights so you are more than welcome to make as many copies as you'd like. The digital download can also be shared with friends and family by simply emailing them the link! They can view and download the files as they wish as well, and can even be easily saved to a thumb drive! Again, we apologize for any confusion regarding your order. If you need any assistance in downloading your files, please reach back out to our customer service team and we would be happy to assist you.
I had 8mm movies, my order was to have them put on thumb drives and CD's I also ordered the CD's to have the titles of the movies printed on the, after shipping I received an email telling me they were received and that the process took 6-8 weeks, I was emailed every step that was taken for the process and to my surprise I received all my movies in less than 10 days, they were perfect I didn't think they were going to be clear and crisp as they were, I sent the CD's to family gathering, they played them and there wasn't a dry eye in the house, they saw people they hadn't seen in years and loved ones that had passed on, these make a very good gift, and the choice of formats you can choose from makes it easy for anyone from the person that's tech savvy to a grandparent who doesn't like technology, the only thing wrong on my order was the DD's came in with no title on them that I ordered, but I was able to fix that with a good sharpie.
Thanks so much for the memories Legacy Box
I had some very old 16mm movies taken with my Father's camera beginning in 1948 through the early 1960's. I had attempted to convert them to VHS tape about 20 years ago, but the quality was not very good. I used an early model VHS tape camera and shot the video from a small screen as I ran the movie film.
I sent the original 16mm film along with my Father-In-Law's old 8mm films to Legacybox and the quality is nicely preserved. I plan to send some 8mm video tapes for processing when I am able to pull those videos from storage.
I have attached a few shots taken from the videos. Me, as a baby, learning to walk (I am now 72 years old), the door to our front room labeled for Christmas 1948, My Grandfather in front of his new house in Mason City, IA in about 1955. A sign from our vacation to the Bandlands in South Dakota in about 1955, and a nice photo of me in Yellowstone Park standing next to a bear. My 8th Grade teacher had a fit when I showed this movie in class stating that my Father was lucky not to have a movie of the bear eating me!
Great Memories!
0 stars. 4 months and they still have my tapes! Keep repeating oh it will be a few more weeks... how many more months?
Hi Kristi, we do apologize for the delay in processing times. While our average is 6-8 weeks, unfortunately that average can fluctuate depending on the formats and number of orders received, as each order is processed in the order in which it is received. We truly appreciate your patience as our team works through processing each and every order as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Our customer service team is available 7 days a week if there is ever anything we can help you with at questions@legacybox.com or by phone at 800-797-8210.
HAD THREE BATCHES OF 8MM MOVIES CONVERTED TO DVD AND HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS SO FAR-JUST ORDERED TWO MORE CONVERSIONS-KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK LEGACY BOX
Legacy box did an outstanding job turning our old 8mm tapes into a keepsake we will have forever to share with our children and friends.
Hello, Brian! We truly appreciate that you entrusted us to preserve such precious items for you. We are glad to know that you are enjoying reliving those moments again and hope that you continue to enjoy your preserved home movies for many years to come! Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.
My memories in '90s came back with great quality digital DVD. It took 4 months to get them, but worth to wait.
Just received my 2 Legacy boxes. Until now, everything appeared to be service oriented and organized. Unfortunately, the service we paid for to have 8 mm video tapes converted is a failure. I want someone to call me and fix this or a refund. I wish I read these reviews first! Legacybox, we are disappointed with several issues:
1. Most (75%) of our submitted 32 tapes for conversion to both CD's and a flash drive had a red sticker advising us that " there was a tracking issue that didn't meet their normal quality standards". And you didn't cut down the cost?!?! What am I paying for if 3/4 of tapes are returned back!
2. To check the quality of our tapes ourselves we replayed the 8mm tapes on our 8mm player, as well as the video camera playback and the tapes are clear and play perfectly with no issues. I need to understand more here by discussion vs. send me my box with not much conversion and stickers.
3. One of our tapes had a sticker that there was mold or other similar issue that was unable to be converted. What mold? What machine are you working with that tells you these things. This tape played perfectly for me now...
4. Our tapes were returned as a mess. They did not rewind them, theY put them back in wrong boxes, and de-faced red stickers across our own identification labels which required us to review the tapes to identify them properly. Two hours later... we finished reorganizing. Again, do us a favor and keep it organized for our own memory.
5. There is no chapter search, just fast forward. So. I can't even move quickly from section to section. The marketing for Legacybox is so sentimental about caring and converting special memories however, the manner in the way our memories were returned did not show ANY care, concern, or consideration.
Beware before sending your memories...
So far I'm happy with the movies that preserved for me on a flash drive. The prices are very reasonable & the turnaround time is only a few weeks.
Hi Carolyn! Thank you soo much for your review. We LOVE that you enjoyed our product!
Not a customer centric company. I ordered a 40 item box. My elderly siblings and I ( all in our senior + years) discussed getting the old movies out of our closets/attics. I told them to get it to me over thanksgiving and I was going to surprise them with the box. I bought the box a few weeks ago. It is a prepaid order of 40 items. You get an empty box. No one found their films, they both assumed they had them but they were not there. So, I want to return "empty box" and get a refund. Spoke with customer service person ( that's a misnomer) and said it will cost me $200 restocking fee to return the "empty" box. Understand they want me to give them $200 for putting an empty box back on the shelf. I complained but told me "sorry our policy is 20% plus additional fees which brings it to almost 30% of my original order. The order is only a few weeks old! His advice was to scrounge around friends and relatives to come up to the 40 items. I then asked to at least be credited back to the current holiday sales pricing we all have seen bombarding our inbox. No. Per "policy" I cannot do that. I complained as I paid twice the current sale price just a few weeks ago and I have a problem. "Nope sorry". Then typical technique he used to get me off the phone was to say he will send my complaint up to the billing department and maybe they can do something for you. He assured me I would hear from them. Really! So billing department is now customer not service as well, never heard from them! Legacy Box is NOT customer centric. Their "policy" is so pre current business environment service levels. I have to report less than 1 star. Since they probably have an elderly customer base, maybe they are able to take advantage of us. Adam Boeselager and Nick Macco I am very disappointed. By the way did either of you ever buy from Amazon and got something you needed to return?...
Sent in 30 8mm films to convert to a DVD. My son, who is now 45, got to see these movies with his daughters. Well worth the expense
Answer: All Video and Film Transfers are done so at 480P. Additionally, we convert almost all consumer formats of videotapes, photos, film reels, and audio. Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Just put a note in your box if you have a PAL tape. *Film: 8mm, Super8,16mm, and Super16 A note on sound: Since sound on film is so rare, and to ensure we're providing the highest quality transfers, it is not our standard process to digitize film with sound. *Photos: 35mm Slides, Photo Prints (up to 8.5 x 11"), and 35mm Negatives A note on photo packaging: When sending in your photos, slides, or negatives, we ask that you remove them from any extraneous container, group them in bundles of 25 and place them in clear plastic ziplock bags or envelopes. *Audio: Standard Audio Cassette Tapes, Mini Cassettes, Micro Cassettes, and 1/4" Reel-to-Reel Audio If you have any more questions, let me know. I am happy to help!
Answer: Legacybox sends everything back to you along with any thumb drives, CD's you ordered.
Answer: No. Just went through this with them. It's a "tough luck" and they keep your money.
Answer: Nope. They took 3 months to tell me an item was "damaged" and then told me their refund policy was 20% or more of the media damaged to give any refund.
Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back! Please reach out to our customer service team for the fastest responses at questions@legacybox.com if there is anything else we can help you with!
Answer: Hello, thank you for reaching out to us! Yes, the digital files you receive back are free from any copyrights so you are more than welcome to edit them as you see fit. Please reach out to our customer service team directly at questions@legacybox.com if there is anything else we can help you with for a more prompt response time!
Answer: Hello Lowell, We are a 1:1 transfer company meaning what is on your original will also be on your digital output. We do not offer any editing or enhancements. The digital files you receive back are free from any copyrights so you are more than welcome to edit them as you see fit. You can also request multiple copies when placing your order as well. Please reach out to our customer service team directly at questions@legacybox.com if there is anything else we can help you with for a more prompt response time!
Legacybox has a rating of 2.7 stars from 820 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Legacybox most frequently mention customer service, thumb drive and poor quality. Legacybox ranks 3rd among Video Converter sites.
Hi Roger, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We wholeheartedly apologize you were not completely satisfied with your order. As you mentioned we cannot guarantee the order of slides within a set of 25 but if you sent in each set of 25 in their own separate bag each labeled with one barcode sticker, your order would be processed in order of your barcodes, starting with -01, followed by -02, -03 etc. Again, We apologize for any mixups or confusion. I see your refund was already processed but please feel free to reach out to our customer service team if there is anything else we can help you with.
