The company has garnered mixed feedback from customers, with comfort and design of the shoes often praised. However, a significant number of reviews highlight concerns regarding product durability, with many customers reporting premature wear and inadequate quality for the price. Customer service experiences are frequently criticized, particularly in relation to handling returns and addressing product issues, leading to feelings of frustration and dissatisfaction. Overall, while the brand has a strong appeal due to comfort and style, persistent quality and service issues may deter potential buyers.

I ordered the shoes when they first came out. They have never been comfortable and they make my feet look like clown feet. I reached out to customer service and they said "sorry, we can't help you." So... I'm not impressed. They are expensive, uncomfortable shoes with bad customer service. Don't waste your money.
I got a pair of allbirds for my boyfriend for his birthday, but his parents ended up also getting him the same pair. So I wanted to return the pair I bought. This was some of the best customer service I have ever encountered. I had messaged them saying that I had not received a refund yet, and was just checking in. They sent me an email back almost immediately saying they automatically refunded my money just because the warehouse was backed up, and I should see the money shortly. They were so quick with response, kind, and attentive. I will definitely be purchasing in the future just because of their customer service.
I really wanted to love these shoes. I wear a 9.5 to a 10, so I ordered a 10. The shoe is the correct size because my heel slips up and down, but the toe box is very cramped and my toes hit the end. They are so uncomfortable I never wear them. I thought they might stretch out so I tried them twice. In addition, I can't believe anyone would seriously wear these shoes without socks. I tried it briefly in the hose and it was very sweaty and uncomfortable. I do not recommend. Save your money.
I love how these shoes look. I love that you can wash them (I've heard ppl complain that air drying takes too long - not a problem in Miami. They are comfortable at first.
However, as the owner of 3 broken-in pairs and 2 brand new pairs that I just returned unopened, I won't wear these again. It may be age or genetics related (members of my family generally need foot surgery after age 50), but why inflict it on myself? I'll stick to less-hip, boring sneakers with better, more foot-friendly soles.
I got my first pair of Allbirds primarily for casual office days and infrequent airport travel, so I was a little dismayed when just after the 30 day warranty a hole developed in the toe of one of my shoes. To the credit of customer service, they allowed a return and advised that I order a size larger than usual to minimize any stress at the front of the shoe. They're a little loose but still comfortable. After three months now the insole is degrading (clumps of wool come out and expose the fibers underneath) and I've noticed that I can no longer boast about the anti-odor properties; they stink. I imagine even if I wash by hand, the odor will quickly return now that the wool layer is fading away. They do sell insole replacements, but after spending 100 bucks on casual loungers I'm not crazy about spending 15 every 3 months to replace the insoles. I otherwise do like the company and the comfort / look of the tree loungers; just concerned about longevity vs cost.
The shoes themselves are really very beautiful and clearly well made. Unfortunately, they don't quite fit my feet, but they were super helpful about the return - the accept them even if you've worn them.
I have to give them 5 stars purely because their customer service has been absolutely superb. Companies like this deserve to do well. They are making quality products with honest service.
For the record - a one star review because the shoe doesn't fit is harsh and irresponsible - other reviewers on this site need a little perspective.
Long story short - they are really nice so give them a go. If they aren't perfect, send them back.
I was excited to get my first pair of Allbirds- the Mizzles toppers. Made in the US, eco friendly and, I'd hoped, not your average comfort shoe looks like clown shoe' style (I'm 5'6" and wear a size 9-9 1/2- clown shoes happen!). I'm also in the last year of my 40's, and needed a good walking shoe that could be worn to work. I order, shoes come in, I put them on and swear (out loud, my office is cool that way), it feels like the blasted arch support is on the OUTSIDE of my foot. Walk a bit and it feels like they really want my tootsies to pronate. The arch, unfortunately, felt nothing- alone and unsupported. So, I go to the website and ask the chat function what's up. The response is short and basically came down to everyone's feet are different, you can return them using this link.' I then asked if there was another arch support choice and after a hello, is this thing on' few minutes- get a yeah, you can use another insole. Apparently they are not the ones who supply said alternate insole. At what amounts to $149, I'm neither impressed with the shoe nor, the website and whoever was on the other side of the chat. I'm not sure if I'll try another insole or just send them back. After reading real reviews (rather than the glowing 5 stars only you see on their site) I'm not entirely confident I won't be put some cash here if I do send them back. I guess we'll see. I've tried numerous other brands and never felt the weird lump on the outside of the foot- it's generally too much or too little under the arch and a made in China tag. These are sadly not supportive IRL as their net hype would have you believe. It's a bummer, I hope they work it out- having a good eco friendly made in US shoe would be great. These are just not the ones.
When it comes to waking, I'm a thumper when it comes to walking. I normally wear shoes that have very supportive soles (very commercial brands and nothing special). I was very excited to buy these shoes. Upon wearing them for one day as i would with my normal sneakers I woke up the next day with a throbbing foot. Unfortunately I had to rest my foot the next day. Interestingly enough I filled out their feedback form which they sent through email. It turns out they don't publish 1/5 stars only 5/5. Very very misleading.
I'm surprised to see so many bad reviews. I normally wear a 7.5. I got a size 7, and I love the way they fit. I wouldn't wear them to run, but for walking around, they're perfect. I can vouch for the no smell claim. I have pretty stinky feet, but I can wear these without socks, no problem. I've put mine through the washer, and they're holding up just fine. It poured rain yesterday while I was out with my kids, and they stayed dry, which is a lot more than I can say for my other tennis shoes. I've worn these walking my dogs through the woods, and they held up to that nicely. They didn't look dirty, and my feet stayed comfortable. I'm satisfied with my purchase.
I have 3 pair of these and initially loved them. Problem is my Big toe on my left foot wears through within 5 months of wear. I wear these as a casual knock around for shopping or
Light walks. (I wear athletic shoes for running/working out). I really like these and typically wear in the Spring and Fall months with no socks I wish they would somehow re-enforce
The toe box for better wear. Disappointing would like at least 12 months for the Price!
I read so many good reviews and was excited to love this shoe, but they are definitely not worth the price. I ordered a size larger than what I normally wear, as recommended, and they are still uncomfortably small. I'm sure the toe will wear through soon. Unfortunately I missed the returns cut off by a day, emailed the company and heard nothing back. Just so disappointing, as a teacher I wouldn't normally spend this much on a shoe so I guess I've learned an expensive lesson not to trust reviews that are connected to ads!
Much like many of you I loved my shoes when I first got them. They're unbelievably comfortable. Unfortunately, they don't seem to wear normally. I am a dogwalker. Essentially all I do is walk on sidewalks. I'm not playing soccer or kicking stumps. Anyhow, a hole started developing in the big toe region maybe after 6 months. It was tiny and I thought it wasn't too big of a deal. Well, now I can definitely see my socks through them and it hasn't even been 9 months. The soles are still in good condition. My thoughts are that this happened because I wear a half size and with my toe stretching that part of the shoe it thus made it wear more. I know the 10 will be too big for me. So, maybe they should start making 1/2 sizes or probably revisit the material they use. I'm very disappointed. I really wanted to be able to order another pair of these.
First ordered a pair--put on: hmm, felt kinda funny, but thought "we'll see." Forgot I had them on about five minutes later. Five hours later still on, happiest feet; literally fell asleep with them on. Purchaser MUST try each pair. Have had to return two green and two blue; the first and fourth ordered pairs of blue are heavenly, second and third did not feel comfortable, but it's worth trying to get the right one because pair can be returned for free within 30 days, and when they work, Heaven! Newly-developed bunions, arthritis, and foot surgeries have made it almost impossible to find comfortable shoes that I can wear all day, including walking or hiking on uneven surfaces, but these Allbirds wool runners are, quite literally, better than the doctor ordered at three times the price. When I see a color I like that likely will not stay long in production, I try it out. Have kept ten of fourteen ordered pairs within the last year. Worth every penny with time to try for 30 days, even to return and reorder when one doesn't quite fit my foot (usually the left foot) comfortably. Customer service via email has been very polite. Return/reorder on-line has been simple with phone and laptop both needed for printing the return mailing. Have met others overseas and in the US who smile, then point to my and their shoes, saying "Allbirds? We should start a fan club." Yup.
I paid full price and received used shoes. See the pics. They were dirty and creased. Will be returning them asap.
I just bought my 5th pair in 16 months. I did not really need another pair but I had to have that color. All I wear now is Allbirds. Fortunately I'm in Southern California so no rain. Perfect weather for Allbirds. I was surprised to see how my first pair washed. Came out like new. I put them in a 5 gallon container fill it half with water and some laundry detergent mild of course. Left in the bucket for 20 minutes gave a good rinse put them in the sun came out perfect. I think putting them into a 5-gallon bucket instead of the washing machine, much more gentle on the shoe.
I loved these shoes when I bought them. So comfortable that I used as slippers around the house. Problem is within a year, a hole developed in the toe. A shoe this expensive should not wear inside of a year. Have yet to tackle customer service.
My husband wore his Allbirds about six months when a hole developed. Five times I've called and emailed customer service. Was promised someone would get back to me, and I've heard nothing. It's the third pair I've ordered. Very disappointed. Won't EVER buy from them again.
I visited their NYC Soho store a year ago. I loved the customer service and initially, their shoes were fantastic, although the shoes could be slightly more chic. I give overall rating of 4 stars because even though the shoes initially felt great, they seem to lose the comfiness a little bit after a few months, unlike Stan Smiths (Adidas) that are my all-time favourite trainers.
I've owned allbirds since the early days. I LOVE my first pair but have bought two pairs since and the one I got most recently is materially lower/cheaper quality. Most recently, they re-released a special edition pair and, in spite of the cheaper materials, I had loved the color and decided to buy them. I added them to my cart in the size I wanted and went through the full checkout/payment process. As it loaded to finalize the transaction, the whole page seemingly crashed and sent me back home. When I went to start over, they were now listed as sold out. I called the phone help center and explained the situatio. While they weren't rude at all, they basically just told me I was $#*! out of luck and to buy a different pair. All in all, I think the era of buying allbirds is over for me
The shoes expand over time, so their website is misleading in suggesting you should opt for the larger size, since they do not make half sizes. When I called customer service, they would not take the shoes back, claiming that I had waited too long. The customer service representative also told me that they were not recommended for running, even though they are called runners and there website shows the company's owner running in them in a field.
Answer: Mine have not held up well. Had six pairs and am down to two pairs in less than a year. And the only reason these have not fallen apart is because I don't wear them that often since they are special colors. They are not worth $95.00. I had the tree runners and the wool runners, and they all did the same thing. My toes wore a hole in them. Very disappointed. I really wanted to love these shoes.
Answer: No! At least not for me. I was getting very sore feet (pain lasting days) after just puttering around my small retirement apartment, spending most of my waking hours sitting down.
Answer: It's hassle but they take returns, you'll be fine.
Answer: Yes, buy another brand, they're compete idiotic for not having half sizes. Neither one size up or size down fit me well enough to keep them, which makes sense since I'm a half size!
Answer: I got a hole in my first pair and they replaced them - there is already a hole in the second pair and they were very clear that they would not replace them again. It has only been a couple of months.
The world's most comfortable shoes, made naturally --- Using materials like merino wool and eucalyptus tree fiber, Allbirds has created the comfiest shoes on the planet.
