Shirley was my gal to help me completely re-write my Resume. I now have an Awesome Professional Resume which I can't wait to use!
Thank you Shirley for all of your help!
I wanted an overhaul on my resume and cover sheet so I contacted them.
The price is high in my opinion, but the product that came out of it was mediocre at best. Spelling errors and grammatical errors were fixed. After their 60 day period of no results they re-did the resume which is the only reason I gave them 2 stars.
The re-done resume is still sub par and yielding no results and I have stopped using it.
They also contact customers asking them to provide positive feedback on these sites in exchange for a $20 Amazon gift card.
I was wondering myself why the description of my resume was inaccurate. I thought it odd that it said I had a job objective (which they said is a negative) instead of a skills summary. Turns out the opposite is true. This leads me to believe, having read the other comments that there are stock reply's to the resume you send them. Thanks to the other reviews, my instincts have been validated. No thank you topresume.com! P.S. My critique was by Katie Warren
I was taken in by the great website and solicitation letters. I was interested in using this service because the site said an expert in the field I was hoping to find employment in would review the resume and make sure the correct words that would snag the scanning machine were there. The revised resume was so generic as to be laughable. "A history of accomplishing goals," was my favorite line. Not only were there spelling mistakes but they actually changed the dates of my jobs. My impression is that these were sent overseas to someone who barely had a grasp of the English language. Infuriating.
I purchased the cover letter and resume package a few months ago. I thought it looked great at the time and I honestly believe that it looks a whole lot better than my original resume. What I thought was strange was that I had my completed draft sent back to "Katie Warren" for a critique just like the first time but I used a different email address. Oddly enough, I received my critique and it was almost identical to my other critique! The same paragraphs were used except for a few sentences which were changed to reflect the wording used. It seems as if a computer program reviews the resume and uses a base template to work off of. Sure enough, my remade resume that I paid for from Top Resume did not pass it's own test!
I've been contemplating whether or not to trust TopResume's services for several days. The gal I worked with (sales, not a writer) was terrific until I wrote her back with my concerns that her company was going to be a rip-off like the last one I tried. At that point, she pretty much blew me off.
Then I visited a couple of these review sites and saw the ratings other people gave them. My instincts were right. They are NOT to be trusted. I am thankful for sites like this. They saved me wasting a lot of money.
Do not use Top Resume, they are a SCAM, if you do not believe me, purchase the lowest package first and safe yourself some cash, do not take any of the extras.
Yesterday I saw an advertisement for Top Resume while I was doing a job search. I was so impressed by their website (first mistake) that I did not take the time to do the due diligence work I generally do when making an online purchase of such a large amount. I purchased the $349 Executive Priority package and agreed to pay it at $99 per month which Top Resume immediately placed on my American Express card. My husband said... I hope they are not a scam... and I thought about the fact that I hadn't really checked their reviews and the BBB (which I almost ALWAYS do). This morning I found this website of reviews and was astounded at the really HORRIBLE reviews interspersed with the GLOWING 5 star reviews, which makes me wonder if the 5 star reviews were "planted". I then went to the BBB website and checked Top Resume's rating. First, they are not accredited by BBB. Second, they received an "F" rating out of a scale of A+ (top) to F (bottom). That rang my bell... ding, ding, ding! I immediately called American Express to put a stop payment on this charge and any future charges. I am not confident that Top Resume is not a scam. I am not confident that I will get the quality workmanship they guarantee. I appreciate all of the posters who posted before me. My suggestion to all of us is to research, research, research... don't let an emotional moment sway your good judgment.
I paid $189 for a resume and cover letter. I also paid $75 to have it posted on a bunch of websites. I sent them my resume in hopes that they would give it a polished and professional look. I somehow went from being just an hourly wage grunt in a very large fortune 500 company, to being a superstar manager that saved my company millions of $$. I also somehow managed to completely streamline the IT department. I was also responsible for change management and logistic control in my spare time. It was the biggest pile of $#*! I have ever seen. The language they used to define all of these accomplishments was so ridiculously over the top it was laughable. I sent them a rather heated response about the massive amount of lies and the blatantly trumped up language. I have yet to hear back from them. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
I got ripped off! Paid $179 for two drafts of my Resume/CV. Both had spelling errors and grammatical errors! Can you believe that? They had the gall to ask me to re-write them myself! Its been six months and I haven't seen my final copy of my resume and CV. I asked for my money back and was sent a "Customer Survey" Avoid these folks.

STAY AWAY! LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS! I don't know why, but I didn't listen to the negative reviews and totally WASTED my money. I went full in with the most expensive package because of a job I wanted to apply to and have an impressive resume. WHAT A JOKE! The format of the resume was came in jumbled and the content was worse. There were typos, misspellings, and phrases that didn't even make sense. They took my old resume and re-organized it using my own wording. I could have done that! The LinkedIn page was really a joke too. It was just a copy of my "new" resume--typos and all. So WHY should I pay extra for them to copy and paste the same text for the LinkedIn page? When I asked for my money back, they refused. They wouldn't even give me a number/person to call. They tried to redo the resume, but I'm not impressed. The format is still pretty horrible and the writing was the same. I really think this is someone in a basement taking people's money. STAY AWAY! LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS!
Submitted resume, got feedback on if mine passed the "30 second test" and response was a very pre-canned / automated response with (as mentioned in many posts) that I'm coming across as a "doer," not an "achiever." They coppied and pasted my first two bullets that used the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) format. Then they provided a automated report showing what their ATS (Automated Tracking System) thought my strengths (most used words in my resume). I fell for it... Almost. I spent a week trying to rework my resume. Then I get a email saying that for 3-days only they were lowering prices to $99, $149, $249 for their packages along with a link. Their main site still has $99, $189, $349. I then found this review, and am thankful. This does seem very shady that they deceive you into believing that their prices are lowered for everyone. Most SCAMS use these same TACTICS, Lure you in, if they don't catch you, they keep emailing daily, then they sweeten the deal by "lowering prices" using a high-pressure tactic of limited-time-only to make you rush into a bad situation. I'll keep using Jobscan.co for FREE (5 times per month) to get feedback on how well my resume ranks agains a job posting.
This company is a phoney company, stay away from them, they rip you off, not giving any service and you have no chance to get your money back, I'm going to the FBI with this, any one want to join me is welcome.
Credit Card doesn't helping because the company know what to do in order to get the money, NEVER give them your CC #, you'll get no service no money. If could give -1 or 0 I would've but I can't.
I discovered TopResume.com while looking at a job posting site. I pressed a "free resume analysis" button by accident and received an evaluation, telling me that my resume made me look like a "do-er" and used passive words like "responsible for". For $189, TopResume promised to provide an industry expert to revamp my resume. I completed a brief survey including detailed descriptions of jobs I would like. After several days, I received my new resume. What a joke. The new resume listed skills that I DO NOT HAVE and used the same passive words, like "responsible for". I wrote a scathing complaint letter and was told that the skills listed (which I don't have) are important in the Industry but they would remove them at my request and the first draft was about format (basically adding spacing to make my one page resume into two pages), not content. I was promised that the second draft would address my content concerns. The second draft was more disappointing than the first. Phrases like "responsible for" were replaced with "oversaw" and "accountable for".
TopResume.com = Top Rip-off. If it were a free service, it would still be a waste of your time.
Here is how they operate:
TopResume cleverly embeds itself in a regular Job Hire website.
Then entices you to get your resume done.
You send in your "old" resume and get back a form letter that says you are a "Doer, not an Achiever". You place an order.
A different entity (foreign-sounding) collects the payment (check your CC transaction).
You notice that the office appears to be in Redwood CA.
Then the headquarters is also in NY *******.
They promise 7 days within which the entire resume process would be completed.
You follow the rules, then wait 10 days and write to Melissa, and no answer!
Then you write to your so-called assigned writer, and no answer.
Then you freak out and start writing to the "company", Melissa and Katie for the next 8 days, and no answer.
I have asked American Express to alert MasterCard, Discovery and Visa about this "Merchant".
Just stay away from TopResume. They are a massive Scam Group!

The only thing that I received from this service that was remotely well written was the 'free critique' that I received from 'Katie.' Everything else that I have received was written by someone with a command of the language of a clearly non-native speaker. The 'design' that they provided to help reformat the resume to best reflect my career field looked like a template pull off of Word circa 1998. This site is out to scam and buyer beware. All the glowing reviews that they have on sites such as these are suspiciously all written in the same voice/style. All are vague and succinct. If you read the poor reviews, you will see that they were all written by different individuals in their own voice. The good reviews are all boilerplate. There is no doubt they are somehow planting or purchasing these lauds. They have an explicit no refund policy, so whatever you do, don't give them your money. I've started the credit dispute process with my bank and will also be contacting the referring site (GlassDoor) to file my complaint.
Scam Alert!:
I do not understand the 5 star ratings that I see for TopResume on this review site. Perhaps their expectations were very low, although I constantly hear about "falsified or purchased high ratings", as I finally found another review site with accurate and very negative reviews. I wish I had seen them before I purchased. Note: NO REFUNDS! And no way to contact them other than email.
I recently paid for Topresume's top tier Executive Resume review that in addition to many other things, promised an initial revised draft within 48 hours. I provided more than the requested information at the onset and yet, 10 days later, I still have not received the draft or really anything other than numerous email requests from various Topresume staff, for me to upgrade my plan in order to receive the same services that was originally promised with this plan.
I find this behavior as nothing short of unprofessional and deceptive, if not criminal. TopResume has NOT provided the services that I paid for and I will not be a victim of such tactics, nor will I stand by passively while I am being scammed.
Additionally, I find it extremely suspicious that there is no working phone number available to call and contact anyone at TopResume. They have a no refund policy.
I have requested a refund, but have heard nothing back from them. I will be contacting the authorities.
TopResume uses a classic bait and switch on ZipRecruiter. The email says the have job openings, but, when you open the email it's an offer to review your resume.
If they resort to classic scam to get your resume how good can their service really be?
This is people are just catchers, they just give one rough draft and never come back to fix or response after, before I ordered they kept send me every day 2 emails. Never spend money on these cheaters
Terrible - I went for the Executive Package because I really wanted something that would help me stand out both on paper and online. Somehow, they have excellent reviews linked to their website showing them as 5 Stars many of which I read before deciding... but based on my experience this simply can't be true.
All they did was take my existing resume and put it in a nice template. The cover letter was boring and didn't profile my skills at all. I myself was bored after the first and it was ME I was reading about, I can only imagine what a hiring manager would think.
I told them I was not interested in them recreating my LinkedIn profile, and asked that they only charge me for the lower package since I wouldn't be using the rest of their services. They responded within minutes with a form letter type rejection stating "no discounts, no refunds" - apparently they have this written and ready to go for what I can only guess would be a ton of unhappy customer emails.
Answer: It depends, if you want to pay for a mediocre format riddled with errors that has the language equivalent of a high-schooler. You will end up paying $100 for something you could have sat down and done in an hour and a half.
Answer: Hi Carolyn, Thanks for asking! The process will begin with a questionnaire. If after you submit the questionnaire, the writer has follow-up questions, the writer will reach out.
Answer: Be careful with this company. They post 1000s of fake reviews to hide the real ones. Note that they do not post their phone number or address on the website. I had to file with the BBB to get a refund after never being contacted. This is a SCAM company - you are better off writing your own resume, trust me on this
Answer: You will not get your money refunded, no matter how bad the result is. I tried.
Answer: Because this company is a sham. Please do not waste your money. There are plenty of reputable services that you can use.
Answer: I second that, Alex! This service is a sham! I've been assigned 3 different writers and have received a subpar product back each time, written by someone who's first language is clearly not English. The best part, I paid $100+ for a "LinkedIn Rewrite" and this was where the writer copied and pasted their version of my resume into the boxes for LinkedIn. You've got to be kidding me... Don't waste your money!
Answer: I am on month two and still have not received a finalized document. Currently, I've gone through 3 different writers and still do not have a usable document. My original resume, cover letter and LinkedIn are far better products than what I've received from TopResume. If you are thinking of using this service, please PASS. It has been a tremendous waste of my resources: time and money. Best of luck to you.
