Not only did this site sell me a game that does not work, their customer support is non-existent. They don't have an email much less a phone number where you can get support. Their version of support is to link you to the game maker's website where you can look through their list of topics, hoping your issue is covered (mine was not). What made it even more frustrating was that I had to create an entirely separate steam support account in order to access this non-existent customer support on the game maker's website. I could have just googled the game-maker! Why did I have to create another username and password Steam? I found other suggestions on community forums, but they were too complicated, referred to things not on my computer or they didn't work. I am in customer service myself, and if I treated people like this, I wouldn't have a job. I will never use this site again, and I will tell everyone who will listen to boycott Steam and parent company Valve. I will be posting this on facebook and other sites as well. Way to turn someone who could have been your customer for years to come into your mortal enemy Steam! You guys really really suck.
Steampowered agency helped me a lot. Today i made a big amount. Finally i got my money. Thank you so much
As a consumer that just discovered the SteamPowered website, I was under the impression that this was a online store that I can buy and download games from.
Well, the catch is, although you download the software to your computer, you still need to log in through their website in order to access and run the software. They give you a little program to do this.
When you run this program, it will need to 'update itself' and to accomplish this, you need to provide it with your administration rights, so that it can download the software to an alias HD copy that it creates in your applications folder. This is different than authorizing something to be downloaded.
Sorry if I don't want to give this company access to my computer. So, I did not download any software and and requested a refund - since I did not take possession of the software.
They continue to respond to my emails with inane responses as if I had trouble downloading or something.
Gamers beware. Search the web for other complaints about this company before you send them money.
Don't waste your time or money on this site. Put your time and money into an education. You'll never be able to recover the lost time wasted on a bunch of a******.
I LOVE steam. Awesome place to get the latest and greatest games and regular sales that let even gamers on a budget get the games they've been wanting!
I buy games here, but I cannot get a refund if the game did promise things I did not receive. They just ban your whole account. Not a good service... bad, really bad.
Don't buy or download anything from steam there THIEF'S! The only good reviews u see here are from them. They have a rating from A-F on the BBB website there's is a F,,, If you are even thinking of buying anything from them or downloading there software so they can hack into your system you may want to go to the Better Business Bureaus website and SEE FOR YOURSELF IT'S ALL THERE OVER ******* COMPLANTS AND THE NOT RESPONDING TO ANYONE FROM THE BBB. http://www.bbb.org/western-washington/business-reviews/computer-software-publishers-and-developers/valve-corporation-in-bellevue-wa-*******
I bought a game that took (literally) 9+ hours download. It will not play. There is no way to reach someone to ask about the problem. There are no refunds. This is a complete ripoff.
Good site for purchasing games, this is where I buy most games these days, really good services provided.
Hi all
I discovered last Tuesday 1st December that there were 2 small amounts on my debit/CC + inrernational transaction fees for this company.
I went to the bank to report these unauthorised transactions.
My card has been cancelled and the bank has filed a report.
Then today I check transactions on a CC I have with another bank... same thing - 2 transactions totally close to $100 + international transaction fees.
These were the same night of the 1st card.
I HAVE NEVER USED THESE CARDS nor EVER PURCHASED FROM STEAMPOWERED
I have another card which has not been hacked
It is interesting to note, that the 2 cards that have been hacked I use for Western Union transactions.
DOES ANYONE ELSE HERE WHO HAS HAD UNAUTHORISED TRANSACTIONS MADE BY STEAMPOWERED USE WESTERN UNION WITH THOSE CARDS?
This review requires context.
I intended to buy a gift with the remaining money from my Steam Wallet. I was about $8 short of the gift, so I figured it would charge the $8 I was short on my credit card. After about 3 minutes, I realized that the transaction hadn't charged my Steam Wallet at all, and the entire balance was charged to my card. I attempted to refund this, but was declined twice, and told that my purchase did not meet the requirements of their refund policy. They did not explain to me why. I wanted to speak with someone with support, but was unable to do so after sending multiple requests to. Eventually, my gift was refunded, but as credit to my Steam wallet, and not to my bank account as I originally wanted. This entire process lasted 2 days. Now I am currently trying to get the balance I originally had on my Steam Wallet (which is still there) and just transfer that to my bank account which would effectively accomplish what I was trying to do in the first place.
I believe that all of this trouble could have been avoided by just speaking with a support rep either by phone or live chat. Unfortunately, Steam Support doesn't appear to have an option to request a chat with support reps which I think is a monumental disgrace. I've been using the Steam service for over 8 years and will continue to do so. I have been largely satisfied with my time using the service, but this has really made me dissatisfied with Steam as a whole.
Steam has a great catalog, but there are a few kinks. Using steam a lot of errors and problems come up on a quite regular basis. Steam is a great idea but needs some work
I love working with this team, and I'm grateful for the support of my mentor, who has helped me earn a good income through Steam <<<3
Ignore the ignorant, it's a great digital distribution service for video games. If you have a brain and know how to read you shouldn't have a problem comprehending how it works.
I purchased X-Plane 11, downloaded it, and tried to play it, but was unable to since my device is obsolete. For the record, I have an advanced performance ASUS laptop from 2018; I thought X-Plane might be usable since it was release in 2017. I requested a refund from Steam because I was unable to use the simulator without a laggy flight experience. But instead of being treated in good faith, I was denied a refund for using the simulator for more than a very small 2 hours (which by the way I used trying to throttle the performance settings of the simulator to make it playable, all with no luck). I even wrote them a second time saying they were being inconsistent by not refunding my for X-Plane though they had refunded me for Microsoft Flight Simulator, which I had "played" for 18 hours according to Steam. I hadn't--those 18 hours were used just trying to download the files! Why refund me for 18 hours, but not 2? I don't like being taken advantage of. Especially considering it costs them absolutely nothing to refund a game purchase since they're entirely digital and there is no added inventory or logistics cost. Their lack of ethics also strikes a nerve because all I wanted with the simulator was to use something healthy to cope with my weakened mental health/increased anxiety due to COVID, and this is how I'm treated. Thanks Steam.
This is Siri and I'm only saying it once so if she screws up maybe you can weed through some of her mispronunciations and understand my verbage steam sucks they have no help desk no email is respondedin a timely manner if 3 or 4 days for email sent time is acceptable in your world then plz buy from them and have fun to after five days of my money being demanded returned still giving lame excuses and repaired sugar is 15 want me to do all of these things to my computer and now its been almost a week I was done with you 1 hour after I seen a five-day download time from one of your excellent servers this makes me so angry did I wish they were a person in front of me I could smell cum $#*!ing silly
Found a Game series I loved, XCOM, released with all the new graphics and game options. I bought 2 XCOM games because it was multiplier to us on my LAN. Loaded it and had to make a Steam Account. I loaded XCOM game 1 and password for my computer and XCOM 2 for the guest computer. Only the Guest Computer XCOM game worked. Then I got sent overseas with limited internet access. NOW none of the games I paid for from Steampowered.com will play. I can see the game on my computer and the space it takes up! However, my Steam Account can't even find the f-ing game online of offline. $120 USD up in smoke. I guess the XCOM patches and art books should supplement the actual product... or lack there of (not). Don't buy computer games with "STEAM access" required. If you go to another country or don't have constant internet access all that money you just handed over to them and you will not be able to use the program on your computer. STEAM is only good for people with constant internet access. Bottom line, no internet, the game you bought with your hard earned money is just space taken up on your hard drive. Avoid this company!
Worst of the worst!
They charge you to talk with support!
Don't use steam gift cards!
Never again!
Hello Everyone,
This is my first review that I am making of a Website called Steam. Steam is an Internet-based digital distribution platform developed by Valve Corporation offering digital rights management (DRM), multiplayer, and social networking. Steam provides the user with installation and automatic updating of games on multiple computers, and community features such as friends lists and groups, cloud saving, and in-game voice and chat functionality. The software provides a freely available application programming interface (API) called Steamworks, which developers can use to integrate many of Steam's functions, including networking and matchmaking, in-game achievements, micro-transactions, and support for user-created content through Steam Workshop, into their products. Their games are very amazing... They even have pre-orders for any game you want and what ever game you want that is already out without buying a disc! Though initially developed for use on Microsoft Windows, versions for OS X and Linux operating systems. Chatting and shopping applications for iOS and Android mobile devices have also been written. The Steam website also replicates much of the storefront and social network features of the stand-alone application. The success has led to the development of a line of Steam Machine micro-consoles and personal computers meeting minimum specifications, and SteamOS, a Linux-based operating system built around the Steam client. S of February 2015, over 4,500 games are available through Steam, which has 125 million active users. Would you like to buy from Steam? Post your comments!
Answer: There's a higher volume of users that want help from Steam Support, however, they'll often try to answer most of the questions that is coming in a daily basis. Steam doesn't have enough staff members to check on the endless questions coming in so you question is most likely on queue. For the other question are you using the same account from the old PC? Please use the same account onto your new PC. Normally CDKeys will follow the original account it was placed in.
Answer: I haven't saw a video game that requires ongoing payments. Most video games I have purchase are all one time payment. However, there is a steam sale going on right now. Remember the games are only linked to one account so you can't transfer to another account.
SteamPowered has a rating of 1.8 stars from 100 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with SteamPowered most frequently mention customer service, phone number and credit card. SteamPowered ranks 783rd among Gaming sites.
