"We'll tell you something when we are good and ready. Now sit down and wait." This is the message in so many words. Calls to Social Security take an hour plus to be answered. The representative can get no information from processing they can't call only message. I have been quoted 15 days, 30 days, 60 days, 45 business days for an answer. No answer has been received. They are holding back my money and they won't say why and they just do not give a damn.
Yes I am writing a review for the Indiana State SSA offices I been dealing with all these offices for years now and I have noticed they need to hire more nicer staff you all are rude toward people who get SSI and the work penalty and marriage penalty all needs updated and changed they complain about there running out of funding and then want money back for an overpayment what about the back payments this has been asked numerous times and you all still won't give people there back payments if you stop spending the funds from people who work for you that would help the disabled we all have civil rights and there not being met either the unfair treatment from staff is unnecessary and those people do know when your committing abuse on the disabled what laws are placed into law.
The Right hand has no idea what the Left hand is doing. Pitiful coordination. Relying on outdated systems and and so much bureaucracy that the system is in a free fall. Doing anything online is a total waste of time and then having to drive an hour to the closest office where they stare blankly into a computer screen and scratch their heads because even the representatives are confused what the feds have done!
The hold time on a call is ridiculous! As I am typing this I have been on hold 1 hour and 58 mins & counting! The phone ringing the whole time and just hung up! No one has answered! Emails take too long to get a response! Just ridiculous!
I have called the SS offices six times - on hold for up to 3.5 hours each time, and each time, the agent has given me different answers to the exact same questions. One said she had no access to my information and could not answer any questions. I tried to get an in person appointment, but have to be on hold again for hours and beg the 800 number agent to have the local offices call me to make an appointment. Tried this three times. Nobody ever calls me back - it's been two months. Most horrible customer service ever. And, they are controlling MY social security and retirement. I am at wit's end. Could there be any worse service? I get much better service from Amazon, chatting with agents who are in India. MUCH better. And, NObody can help with SS answers - nobody, but the SS agents and they are useless and unhelpful.
My 74 year old mother and I have been on hold for over an hour and a half trying to speak with anyone and guess what? We are still on hold. This is absolutely absurd. I wish I could give less than one star. We are paying these people to do a job they obviously aren't doing.
This has to be one of if not the poorest run agency in US government, they are not there to help you, take your money your entire life, then make you go through hoops and barrels to get your money.
Disgusting system, the people who work at SSA are equally worthless.
DO NOT USE AS THERE IS NO DISCLOUSE AS TO WHO OWNS ID.ME BUT IT IS NOT THE FEDS AND THEY MAY SELL YOUR PHOTO ID. BOTH THE IRS AND SOCIAL SECURITY PROMOTE USE ID.ME BUT NONE OF THEM MENTION THAT IT'S NOT A FEDERAL ENTITY.
I went to my federal office in my home town and they were unable to help me. So they gave me the runaround for about 2 Months. But low and behold they gave me the helpline number and I had the pleasure of speaking with Mrs/Ms. Martin and she went above and beyond to resolve my problem. She is the best person that I was able to speak with & had a lovely & concern in her voice. I just want to give her her flowers and to show my appreciation of all her help. Please keep her with this company, because she represents the SSA Office very well. Thank you again Mrs./Ms. Martin.
Ms. Hand went beyond the call of duty to help me. I had talked to another woman and she was not helpful and kind of rude told me to call the regional office and I did and I got Ms.Hand she went through every letter that was on the system and she would not give up till she had an answer she was one the phone with me for all most 2 hours and she was taking notes so she could me with her supervisor and go over everything and she took my number and promised to call me back and I did not think I would hear back from from her. Well she did call me back and she had all of it worked out. I suffer from many conditions and she keep me calm and I know someone was hearing me and was going to work on my behalf I am so glad the lord made it so she was the one that picked up and helped me and she is even going to follow up with me to let me know when it is completed
The black workers are quick to get into a argument instead of listening and hang up frequently.they are lazy as $#*! and dnt wanna help. Jamal was the lazy workers name and the fat black lady at the ss office in Exton pa as well both very rude and lazy.
Called # given to me by representative at SS ofc in S.Phila. Because I couldn't update my 98 yr old Mother's address, office doesn't recognize a POA, unbelievable! First call today was at 10:04AM. Now 11:55 still waiting for a live person to answer. Need to have an IG investigate this agency, too much money being spent on crappy service. Years ago it was said Government employees couldn't work in the private sector, so true!
I've been trying to get a SS card replacement and this website is horrible. It's so difficult to get into my account, almost every step has issues. I know how to use websites and tech stuff, usually I can get past the problems and figure it out but not with this crap site.
Unprofessional rude nasty nasty reps shame on them there boss needs to no about there conduct as well as behavior and the reps got a attitude and didn't come back to the phone after I waited a very long time he over talked me and stated and you are going to go over again well he'll I called and told them and they were so so ugle shame can't even call to talk can't believe they deal with the public I didn't call to ask for a hearing just wanted clarity I got a letter 6/12/23 the others were months before you don't no how to calculate while you work in there
Expect about 1 hour of waiting time, the customer service is horrible, they don't have answers even after involving a supervisor the issue was not resolved. Total disaster...
Following up on survivor benefits...on hold 58 mins. The man who took call was, rude, tired & so
Unhelpful! No even a hello, like I totally ruined his day! Sorry you have people working for you like this.
I'm old enough to remember getting an annual little pamphlet from the Social Security Administration that contained how much I had earned in my lifetime from my very first year of earnings until the present. Well that same statement is available online. It also includes the ability to apply for benefits or a replacement card (card replacement feature not available in all states).
Like most people, I protect my number and SS information like my bank account. But if you trust online banking, you should have no problem here. The SSA has to protect our data and have encryption in place, along with two-step authentication to secure your account, and I've been confidently using this site since it first went online.
Following the untimely death of my mother, I have been trying to make sure that the very little income she did have coming in which was Social Security was properly handled, they were made aware of her death and that no one could take advantage of her benefits. Sheila was very helpful and kind, and I very much appreciate that, especially as I'm sure their phone, lines and offices can get exceptionally busy. I am very appreciative that my mother was able to have these benefits to begin with but the efficiency and kind nature of Sheila is very much recognized by me. I hope that people who have positive experiences with government organizations, such as this will begin to review them with kind words. I can't imagine how stressful it can meet in such an industry, but I appreciate people who can keep a cool mind, especially when dealing with someone grieving.
Recently applied for Medicare and Social Security. Was called by a woman, emailed and text as well. She wanted my SSN and other personal data. I refused. Since then I have tried to find out if it is truly a SCAM. After hours of waiting on several phone calls, reporting potential SCAM, I have not been able to verify if it was a SCAM. They can have all the messages on their voicemail, but if SSA is not able or willing to assist us in determining a SCAM, what's the use?
When I applied for Medicare through SSA online in May 2022, I received a re-entry number and assumed that all was well.
1.In early June 2023, when I went into the SSA website to apply for the next phase Medicare B, I discovered that there was no record of the May 2022 application. It had disappeared.
2.The phone call took 2.5 hours.
3.During the call, one screen said that I needed to sign and submit a document to complete the application by 7 Dec 2023, or the application would be voided. When asked, at first, the agent said he would send me the form. Then, later he said that there was no such form, and scheduled a telephone conversation with a Claims Specialist. That would take place 6 weeks later. I called back and another agent told me that there was no such form.
4.Then I got a letter saying that they had received my application (Yeah!) and that I needed to submit my banking information. But there was no indication of HOW I should submit the letter--email, their website? When I contacted the agent, she told me to disregard the letter.
If you don't receive written confirmation from a SSA application, assume that they never receive it.
Before you call, breathe deeply, prepare to bounce back at their inefficiencies. This is what should have happened 12 months earlier--in June 2022!
SSA is a monopoly and they know it! Zero accountability!
Answer: Then you are the luckiest person alive. I held for almost an hour, hung up. I did this all day long because they unilaterally changed my appt from March to April, and never called. I found out today some moron decided to change my information in Silver Spring so my mail went to my former husbands address in Delaware. He passed in February and his 4th wife who already has his SS checks wants more, so they called her even though my phone # was on the appt. How stupid is that. I figured out what happened and called her, you guessed it she got my 2pm phone call. Yeah! Really a professional intelligent bunch. Now I have to wait till June.
