This site is 95% dead. They took to misleading their customers by offering fake matches and other bul#sh*t.
All my matches were either inappropriate or outdated or unresponsive. No normal person out of 57 "potential matches". You might as well flush your bank card down the toilet.
The site's owners must be very greedy and narrow-minded people with 1 big goal: to screw lonely men out of their $$ and €€.
Anyway I think there is nothing to do on Silversingles. I left it with no regret and I don't recommend it to anyone, unless you are searching for a weird way to get rid of your money.

The site has great reviews, I liked the personality profiling. Why NOT take the plunge!?!? I signed up for 6 months. Within a week, I could see there was gonna be a problem unless I was willing to drive 2 hours for a date. I called customer service. They advised I needed to just re-emphasise that distance was important. Ok, done! It didn't change the fact that the matches I got were still more than an hour away. I don't live in a big city. I asked for a refund, was told I'd loose a month of payment. OK. Gave it another week (so I'm now in my 3rd week of membership). Called again. Nope-NO refund unless it was in the 1st 3 DAYS of membership. DON'T DO IT unless you live in a big city or you're willing to do a long comute.

They guilt you into purchasing their paid membership (which is really overpriced and actually not worth a dollar) by presenting you a showcase of fake accounts. Then these profiles are nowhere to be found. Nobody replies to your messages. Needless to say, I tried to take my SilverSingles profile down but admins were reluctant to remove it. They wanted to keep charging me but I contacted my bank and put a stop to those unauthorized charges.

I have experienced great difficulty with receiving matches based on my preferences. When I first contacted Silver Singles about this, they said my preferences were too "strict". I changed several of my preferences but not "distance" which I have set at 50 miles. I continued to receive matches from 100 miles to matches from other states that are over 150 miles away. Customer Service tells me my matches have indeed met my preferences. Matches that do show up within my 50 mile preference are "under review", that means they cannot see or reply to messages. Silver Singles uses this to get you to try and contact these matches so they can send an E mail to this "free member" saying "look, you have a message, sign up now to read it". What a lousy business model.

When you try to contact a person you will get very few messages, and when you do get one, after a few messages they will find some excuse to delete you. Waste of money and a total scam.

Shortest distance preference is 50 miles which is zipcode-to-zipcode, so that could be a 2 hour drive. No search feature - you have to wait on SS to send you what they consider a match. Cumbersome to delete a match. "Have You Met" feature ignores your preferences. No "body style" preference, so looking for a partner for the black diamond slopes is painful.

Terrible experience. I got sucked into paying before I could even see any profiles. I completely filled out my profile, multiple pictures and sent messages and "smiles" to people. I only received emails back from 2 or 3 people out of 40-50.

Most of the men were OLD, FAT and SHORT. I realize this sounds mean but come on! I contacted customer service after about a week to cancel my membership, and I requested at least a partial refund (I paid for the 6 month plan). Response was a big NO!

Guess I only had 3 days to change my mind. Big giant ripoff!

Pass this service by and for gods sake DO NOT PAY!

They said I could "gift" it to someone else.

I was somewhat satisfied with this dating site until they REJECTED my following comment: "I've had the COVID-19 vaccination and will only meet up with someone who is also vaccinated. Yes, card required." UNBELIEVABLE!

Registered and completed the profile questions and added 3 pictures. My profile was quite specific on the type of relationship that I'm looking for yet I got matches from men who hadn't bothered to complete the questions. I can't understand how someone would be considered a match when there are no answers provided to the questions? I'm looking for a romantic permanent relationship and I received a "match" from a person looking to "hang out and have a good time". There really should be some attention paid by SS on what they consider a match.
This next part is nothing that SS can do anything about I'm putting it here so that it will hopefully help someone who is considering registration. From what I have gathered there are more women then men registered. Even if you take the time to write a thoughtful message to a suggested match don't be surprised if they don't reply for e.g. I wrote messages to 3 people not one responded to me... am I that bad? Nothing not even thanks for your thoughts. Sorry but why put yourself out there if you are just going to be shut down.

I have paid for 6 month premium package. Very disappointed, have encountered fake profiles and scammers several times. So thankful I have a keen sense of those who set out to try to get you to leave site so they can trick you into sending money.
When you identify profile as abuse, you have no way of commenting. When you reach out to support center for help response is slow, poor, or non existent. I would not waste my time or money.
I cannot wait until my subscription ends..

SS is very restrictive about profile photos. As a photographer, I wanted to add 3 nature photos to my profile. SS refused to allow them because they were "copyrighted" which, I presume, means they didn't believe I took them. They refused to clarify and the photos were not allowed.

Their refund policy is a rip off. Get ready to jump through fire if you want to cancel and stop them from taking your money each month without your consent and authorization. Obviously the reason why so many people want to leave is because this site is inefficient, useless and full of fake accounts. SilverSingles didn't work out for me and many other people according to the reviews. I suspect they actually don't aim at providing any dating services. They are focused on overcharging you and keeping you on automatic renewals until you notice it and start struggling to stop them from doing this. They rake in huge profits and fraudulently make money be cheating people.

I signed up, paid my money and couldn't not log into the site. Instructions said if I couldn't log in they would send me a link, they never did. I tried two or three times never got a link. I requested a refund 24hrs later. First no response then when I did get a response they said they couldn't find my account. When I gave them my info again they said it was too late to give me a refund even though they know I have never logged into their site once. Just throw your money in the trash it's easier that way.

The two months I browsed SilverSingles after entering my profile, subscription prices ranged from $32/mon to $18/mon with a minimum of three or six months. Price seemed to go down the longer I waited. I put a limit of 50 miles from my town. Lo and behold I quickly had 196 matches! Less than 25 of those matches were within 50 miles of the big city where I live; most were 100-150 miles away in bordering states. If a paying member sends a message to a non-paying member, the non-paying has to pay for a subscription before reading the message. I really question where those journalists who give the site a high rating received their information. It was easy to delete my profile when I opted not to buy in, but they warned me I wouldn't be able to post a new profile if I left them.

Okay so I'm interested in older women, and thought Silver Singles was a place where I could search for profiles, or would use a swipe-system like most other dating apps. This model of dating website works because statistically, a man will need to swipe roughly 1,000 times before he gets 1 match. That's the simple reality of what it means to do online dating if you're a man. You know you'll need to send out lots of messages before anyone replies.

So I came on Silver Singles, having paid the full price for 3 months, and saw only 9 matches. I thought maybe those are just recommended profiles... I started clicking around looking for the search bar where I could see 500 more profiles and get to messaging. Again, I purchased 3 months, so if I start sending out messages now, I can expect to get maybe 4 or 5 replies before my membership expires. I touched every button I could find, and there doesn't appear to be a search bar. What gives?

So I clicked on "help", thinking I'm just missing the option that lets me access the thousands of profiles I very clearly and obviously need, because honestly, it's just a fact of life that men will not get matches better than 500 messages for 1 response, and even the most casual online dater knows this. That's when I saw the help page, quote:

"You cannot search our website for members; we do the work and recommend compatible matches for you"... are... you... serious?

I mean... okay, this idea MIGHT work, if your website matched me to, say, 10,000 other people I could browse through. But you matched me to literally NINE PEOPLE AND THAT'S IT! And I changed my settings to allow for literally anyone over the age of 50. And all I'm matched to is just the nine? So I paid 50 dollars for 3 months and this is all I get. I can message all of them in ten minutes. Then what? I sit and wait for the next 89 days and hope that one replies?

Go on literally any other website where you can actually swipe or browse. With SilverSingles, you're left at the complete mercy of their algorithm. Imagine if it only matched you with 3 people after you went and paid the full premium price for membership.

I signed up for 3 months and will not be renewing. I plan on canceling my credit card first to make sure it's not renewed. The site is teeming with scammers who try to get us off site with some ridiculous stories of a friend not on the site who fell in love with our photo (?) and wants to contact us off site of course and they give an email address and phone no. Beware! Especially if you're a woman over 65, we are Nigerian scammers' prefered target group. I was even contacted by a scammer who obviously had hacked one of the matches account
I suspect that half my matches are fake profiles ( usually without photos or with sideways photos) and another 1/3 are canceled accounts they still use to inflate the numbers. SilverSingles appears very good at marketing itself as seen in many online positive reviews ( they most likely post themselves) but the reality is very different. I would not recommend them.

Company owned in the Netherlands more then expected fake picture and profiles run from this site. Catfish site
