I submitted my first claim for electrical and paid $440.00 out of pocket. I waited 6 weeks and nothing. They said they will only cover $62 - they don't cover labor. Most of the work done is labor. RUN AWAY... DON"T SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY. They will cover almost nothing! I cancelled today and they said I will not get my $62.00 back if I cancel. If I could give less than one star I would.

Please do not waist your money, this company is terrible! Not only that all customer service is out in Patagonia somewhere, but you have to wait 30 minutes to as long as an hour for them to answer a simple call. When they answer, your problem is not solved and you ask to talk to a supervisor they say "we have no supervisors available, they are on other calls". When you state that you have time to wait until a supervisor is available, they say" we cannot wait with you on hold because we need to serve other customers". This is awful customer service! We had American Home Shield and they were amazing. Select not only that does not take care of your claim ( we have been for 7 days without air conditioning in Florida summer and spent numerous hours with Select on the phone), but they cannot even do a preauthorization appropriately for a contractor that we were forced to find on our own because Select had no contractors that want to work with them. Matthew Gonzalez employee # 0419 ( I am sure this is not his name or employee number) just shared with us that upon the contractor diagnosis being completed, the contractor needs to call them and get preapproval for the service otherwise we would not get reimbursed. So basically not only that they do not have a contractor to serve us, but they think that a contractor that is usually charging by the hour will have time to wait for the customer service to answer a call with an average hold time of 30 minutes. WOW! We lost money, time and please save yourself aggravation most of all!

Submitted claim on A/C unit May 28th. Was informed may 29th that they had delay in finding available services company to send out for inspection and repair of unit. Was sent email that I could find my own company to use for the claim. I called a local air conditioning company and had a technician dispatched to my home on May 30th. Was informed that I needed my fan motor replaced, a side duct resealed and thermostat wire replaced. I submitted the documents neccessary for pre-approval of repairs. Almost a week went by after calling several times to check the status. Select home warranty informed me that claim was still in review. I then decided to go ahead and pay for the repairs and seek reimbursement. The repairs needed to be made quickly as I live in Phoenix and temperatures were exceeding 110 degrees outside and 97 degrees inside which is not conducive to comfort for my family. I submitted the repair information and invoices along with pictures for review. I was then denied because I did not get prior approval for repairs even though I had submitted all the appropriate documentation that they had requested. They were certainly happy to take my money every month but god forbid they pay out on a legitimate claim which is clearly outlined in my contract.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I chose them because of their high scores in customer service, but the first chance they had to provide good service, they failed. I had a claim just after the "30" day waiting period required for my policy to be active, but because i paid by debit card, they added 5 days. Instead of taking the opportunity to provide good service, they simply reply with, "If you read the contract, it says you have to wait the extra 5 days". While I understand it states that, it seems like a good chance to show why should stay with them instead of going to a competitor who actually cares. I'll be going elsewhere and will be recommending others do the same. VERY disappointing.

The service and coverage of these policies is HORRENDOUS. I submitted a claim for a water heater leak- DENIED because of fine print. Toilet leak- DENIED because of fine print. A/C not cooling- Max $150 dollar coverage approved, which was pennies compared to the cost of the repair after they charged me a $70 contract fee and a $60 service call fee, so their coverage barely covered the cost of just getting a technician to come see it!
They take FOREVER to review the claims (1 month+), drag you through endless additional requirements like pictures, service records, dragging the process further. I was without A/C for 1 month begging them to process a claim that they limited to $150.
You know those companies that weaponize the fine print of contracts to get out of covering anything? Select Home Warranty is one of them! They take weeks looking for any reason to deny or limit your claim.
Their policy was the biggest waste of money and time I have had, I did business with them to try to find peace of mind for the maintenance of my home, but they cause more pain, stress and cost. What a horrible experience.

I wish I had not switched from American Home Warranty. Select Home Warranty is full of false advertising. They talk of all they can save you but it's a lie. I bought their platinum package for me and my dad. Stuff that the contract says is covered, they have clauses that contradict and they find a way not to cover anything. Beware of section 8 and 9 in the contract

The worst company to deal with. They will twist the claim to be able to deny coverage. You can't speak to any intelligent person! There customer service must be in India and they are very unhelpful. Mr recommendations is run away as fast as you can. Don't waste your money.
One example. Two years old $1200 Washer. Computer board went bad. $420 to replace. They decided it's not worth repair, and gave me a check for $110 to replace it.

Fraudulent company

DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY! I bought my 1st house and purchased a 14 month home warranty policy. I have tried to use the policy 3 times and have been denied 3 times. No one speaks English. I was told to find my own company to fix a water problem and to have the tech call them, when he was here, with the "diagnosis and total cost of repairs" so they could then approve it. I did all that and then they freakin emailed me and said the claim was denied and NOT COVERED under my policy but they would sell me a rider policy that does cover those repairs. WTF! Nice racket you guys have going, Mr Joseph Shrem (CEO).

This company is a scam. When I was sold my warranty, I was assured that with the Platinum package, ALL PLUMBING was covered. Sure enough, after experiencing a plumbing issue, I was dispatched a technician to the tune of $60.00. The technician didn't remove a single tool from their truck, nor did they look down the pipe, run a snake - nothing. However, they reported a diagnoses to Select Home Warranty (which they denied coverage for). Clearly I explained to them that the tech never checked anything out - so how could they provide them with a resolution? Unfortunately, because their claims division declined it, I'm now unable to dispute or open a new ticket to address it with a different plumbing company. They back their sub-contracted technicians stating "He provided a resolution, and the required method is not covered".
I've cancelled my service with SHW at a loss of over $340.00 and no service. For the record, I'm not cancelling because of the results, I've cancelled because its clear that they don't care about their client base, I was just profit to them. If we could have simply found another plumber to send - I'd still be a customer.

I was dreading the process of investigating home warranties, but after reading Google reviews, consumer reports, I decided to go the their website. All of my questions were answered in the content. The step by step process to choose options was clear and simple. I even accidentally signed up for the wrong payment plan, and my assigned rep was fabulous with his follow up, ready to do whatever I needed to reverse my payment options. Now, I truly do have peace of mind wth the company and the coverage. Referring people right away.

The gentleman, Josh, who I communicated with was very patient in answering my questions and explaining the procedures to get service if needed. He was not "pushy" or a fast talker just going for a sale. And with this company working with us for payments we were very pleased.

A/C repair

The repair contractor was prompt, knowledgeable and fixed my problem that same day. He would receive 5 stars. However I was disappointed when prior to him coming out I tried to discuss a concern with SHW and call kept getting transferred before I could even discuss my issue. Finally ended up with a rep who Had a language barrier and whose child was screaming in the background the entire conversation. I finally gave up. I will remain with SHW pending future interactions as Javier A/C provided exceptional service and was a local small business which I prefer to do business with
