Well, everybody knows that insurance matters a lot especially in case of home insurance. I believe that every human being who buys a new home or any kind of accomodation should visit special insurance companies right away in order to keep calm and never bother about some unpleasant situations. I acquired a new home and decided to take out an insurance because for me, safety of my house prevail over other things. So, I applied to this company and they provided me with all conditions concerning the process of taking out and insurance and I took it out quite fast. Great company with real professionals.
First, my garage door stopped working gave technician $75 who tried to get me to replace doors for $2-3 thousand dollars. Select offered me $150 I'm still waiting on 30days later so they can get another payment deducted my bank. Second air conditioner needed a part they would not cover. Third my heating stopped working called in claim they sent Sears technician who says he couldn't fix after waiting about five days cold home said they would send another tech…still waiting…I tried to cancel contract told me I would not receive $150 that's due to me. I'm canceling ASAP after check arrives. They lie a lot. RIP-OFF COMPANY DO NOT PICK SELECT HOME WARRANTY! 0 stars recommended
Select Home Warranty is a scam, they find loop holes to deny your claim. I waited a month to be serviced for my refrigerator just to be told claim denied. Select home warranty needs to refund me all my money for the last year. I could've saved money for a rainy day and had enough to buy me a refrigerator. Customer service in quality (Ron) was very unprofessional and basically laughed at me. I would not recommend this company. Please do your research on warranty companies. The ratings are not authentic.

Bruce did not evade my questions and had all the information I requested in answering my questions. He found the best options for my husband and I, who are on a retirement fixed income. He was not pushy and followed through. I learned the warranty is completely transferrable, either to new owners if we sell property or we can take it with us to another home we buy. We got the 5 year (6th year free), which locks in our rates forever, and locks in the service call rate. The service call rate is also lowest available.
My warranty says fixes plumbing but not stoppage. However, now that I may have a plumbing leak they say it is not covered. Leak is not stoppage it should be covered. Now I'm guessing anything that goes wrong they will state not covered. Giving money away using them.
When we purchased this policy we thought we would have been taking care of. In the heat of summer are A/C unit broke down and we didn't have a way to cool down. We trusted our home warranty who ended up not helping us and scamming us out of our money and we had to come up with $2000 to fix our unit ourselves. Please do your homework like we should have and don't use this company.
We purchased a 3 year contract with Select and when we needed service 7 months into the contract they had no contractors to send. We had to find and pay our own contractors. We have yet to be reimbursed for either call and one was two months ago. One was an electrician, the other was a heating & cooling contractor when our 20 year old HVAC unit stopped working due to the compressor being shorted to ground. The contractor recommended the unit be replaced because the HVAC was so old and the r22 refrigerant is no longer made. A temporary repair that might give us 6 more months of service but then would need to be replaced anyway would cost nearly $5,000 while a new HVAC would cost $9,500. Alvin from customer service told us Select would give us $650 towards a new HVAC unit on 9/9/21 but Select never gave us this offer in writing even though Alvin said we'd receive an email stating this in a few hours and we had accepted the offer. Don't waste your money with this company. Managers never call you back and customer service is non-existent. The prior auth department is open from 9am - 4pm but we have called at 11:30 am on a weekday and were told it was "after hours" for them. I plan to cancel this useless home warranty plan.
Filed claim online…no response. Called…voice message says to file claim online. Refiled…no response other than email. Now several weeks with plumbing issues. Call and am told they will expedite. Get an email saying they need to contact me. Call and get told to hire my own plumber and submit a claim to get reimbursed. I am already out of pocket for a multi year warranty that I paid up front to gain a discount! Escalated and requested refund from Kelly today and she still wants me to wait for dispatcher to find a plumber. Now I feel I may have to sue to get my money back! Horrible customer service! Buyer beware!
They are a waste of money and time! If I could give them less than a star I would. First they talked you into the coverage that sounds amazing. They don't disclose the contract until you have purchased already. They promised repair or replacement but that's not the real deal. After you purchase the coverage you have to wait 30 days and then you also have to wait another 30 days to get full coverage per paragraph 10.1 (see screenshot of email). On top of that the limits that are stated are not worth it. A bought additional coverage for my pool claiming that they will replace items if they break. They won't and if you get anything they will limit it to $400. That's nowhere close to the cost of replacing a pool pump. Again not worth it! Heed my warning.
Select Home Warranty, are the biggest crooks in this business. I've been with this company for almost 2 years. I've had several claims none of which were paid or fixed. My ice maker needed repair, I was told it was not included as part of my refrigerator. I did read the small print in the contract. Then I needed my Air Conditioner repaired SHW contacted me said the unit was too old and not covered.

Signed up for there home warranty and 40 days after paying them over $500 dollars for one year coverage. My freezer in my refrigerator quit getting cold so I called them to have it looked at and they sent a guy out he said it needed a couple parts and he would order them and let me know. Today select home warranty sent me a email stating my refrigerator is not covered due to being within my 30 day coverage. I called and told them it was over 30 days from when I signed up and payed. Then they explained the first 30 days is a trial period and then another 30 days until coverage would begin just another way for them to get out of any coverage total scam do not use this company
When selling you a contract they will tell you they will repair and take care of everything once they get your money you can forget it once you call them with a problem I gave you a run around they won't repair or take care of anything or any of your calls if you called then you'll be on hold for hours

I do not write many reviews but this one deserves my time.
My A/C unit went down and this is in the middle of summer in 100+ daytime temps in AZ. I immediately called "Select" to have someone come and repair it. The local repair company that they chose was not able to show up the next day but showed up the day after. ( Not the local repair company's fault)
The kind repair man noted that a part had to be replaced to make the A/C work and told me that for him to replace it I would have to get approval from "Select", then call him and schedule an appointment.
When I called "Select", they said that it would take 24-48 hours for their team to approve a $269 part.
I was naturally upset and explained that time was of the essence especially since the temps where I live were in the 100's. There seemed to be no sign of urgency or concern on their end and the rep said that they had to follow policy ( total indifference)
They finally approved it after I had talked to various reps multiple times that day and the repair man showed up promptly the next morning.
I was hoping for a resolution in the matter but the repair guy found another bad part. Once again I went through the same torture with "Select" they still have not approved the second part which by their admittance is fully covered under the warranty.
It is now 9 DAYS since I have been living with a dead A/C unit with no resolution in sight.
I finally got an email from them saying that they have mailed out the part that needs to be replaced and that once I get it, I would have to contact the service company to replace it.
If you would like to go through what I have gone through by all means go ahead and sign up with these losers.
Today I called to cancel my coverage and for a refund of the unused portion of my warranty. They naturally tried to talk me out of it and when I was clear that I wanted out, could not give me a straight answer on how much money would be refunded back.
It would take 24-48 hours for them to get back to me about the refund.
Why is is so hard for this company to be transparent and honest with their clients?

They sell you with money back guarantee but when you cancel within the specified time, they charge you a cancellation fee plus prorated amount.
IVAN placed me on whole and left the call in hopes that I will hang up the phone because he refused to transfer me over to his manager, plus to provide me with his managers name and he wanted me to disconnect the call so it will not be on him for 'disconnecting' the call.
As a Realtor, I've had dealings with many home warranty companies and this is by far the worst one out there. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - they will say they will "repair or replace" but when it comes time for a big ticket item, they will find some loophole in order to not pay out. In my case, my HVAC system completely failed - even though their own technician said in the diagnosis that the damage/failure was not caused by "freon or a freon leak" SHW has denied my claim saying they don't cover any HVAC issues relating to freon. WTF? Now I have a $11k HVAC replacement bill to pay for out of pocket - and I will be seeking legal advice to sue this horrific company. Stay FAR FAR AWAY! Wish I could give zero stars.

I was told from salesman that unit would be replaced if it couldn't be repaired. 3200. 00 bill they paid 150.00. They don't tell you they determine the depreciation of unit. And yoy pay a 75.00 deductible so in truth they paid out 75.00 towards a 3200. 00 bill that the salesman makes you believe will be 100% covered. The select home warranty cost me 650.00 a year. So it is a major SCAM stay away. I've filed a review with the BBB as well as a claim.

And another tech wanting to get my pool setup for summer at150. More than I already gave for deductible she didn't fix my pump or water line to my pool. Both denied by select home Warrenty. And 3 more that I paid their techs for then had to fix it myself. Now my freezers compressor is out and they took money out of my bank account without my permission after saying they would go ahead and fix the freezer well guess what they declined it. And said it wasn't covered when in the contract it says it is. List all meat and others because of 3 weeks if waiting for them
