Incompetence

I am continually amazed by the incompetence at the SBA (mirroring other federal agencies that I've had the unpleasure of dealing with). Most recently, I've sent the same documents multiple times over weeks, with the agent not reading and asking for the same things over and over again. When I tell her that this is an urgent situation, crickets. Where do they find these people? How do I get this job where I can get paid and do nothing?

Truly unhelpful

I was approved for a disaster loan. After I accepted the loan, I was then told I could only use less than half of the money to rebuild my home and about 60% of the money was to be used only replace "stuff" which is ridiculous when I don't have a home to put "stuff" in. Failure to use the money as they allocate means you will be penalized and have to pay back the funds at 150% plus interest.
Questions to my case manger go unanswered. Shecwould send policy with yellow hilighter, but not answer my question. Her policy references were vague and unhelpful. Her advice was to spend money I don't have and then submit receipts to see if they (not her, some other person) will release loan funds to cover. What? If I had money to spend, I wouldn't be taking out a loan. They are ridiculous. I am supposed to pay the interest on the full loan amount, but I can't access the money. That is usery. I talked to an SBA loan officer about modifying the loan, but ended up getting yelled at by her. Yes, really. Her name was Connie. That is all I know. I called to ask for a different loan officer and was told that the person answering the phone was "working from home" and didnt have her computer to look up my case. The whole program is just garbage and unhelpful to Americans in need after a disaster. Meanwhile, I am still homeless.

Unbelievably rude
April 29, 2022

Pamela Sutherland, the employee who was assigned to my case, has been unbelievably rude and condescending. I had to bite my tongue so hard during our last conversation to not put her back in her place. I don't know who she thinks she is, but I am done dealing with her. Other employees have been very pleasant. Additionally, throughout multiple weeks of communication, she failed to communicate some crucial contingencies of my disaster relief loans which would have been dismissing factors and saved me weeks of unnecessary paperwork. Of course she refused to admit to any wrongdoing, falsely claimed that these contingencies had been discussed, and continued to be rude and condescending. This woman is incompetent and needs to be fired. I filed a complaint against her but I'm not holding hope anything will be done about it.

Total incompetancy

It is by the law that we are supposed to get the 1098 by Jan 31 for the interests paid for the year. It is two weeks past. When I called, they said I would just have to wait until I get it but I can't just wait indefinitely. Worst part is that two representatives hung up on me. Third person gave me a phone number that supposedly handles mailing out 1098, and what do you know? It is a non-working number. It is a common knowledge that the government workers are no more than glorified welfare people, and they seem to act just that. Shame that's where part of our tax money goes.

Absolutely terrible customer service. Rules arn't clearly stated. When calling to ask for clarification and assistance understanding contracts, they become very defensive and eventually will hang up on you. Don't even bother.

This is the worst website I have ever used. It's difficult to use. It's worse than going to the DMV to wait in line. They have bad everything. Hard to use, poor support. Difficult to register. Poor forms, bad validation. A high school kid could make a better website. I am sure it was a lot of tax dollars for the worst site on the planet.

Like many other small businesses, I was forced to take out an EIDL loan in order to survive Covid. PPP was not an option because the funds were quickly depleted. Now that the loans are coming due, I get notices about payments that are three months late without ever getting a bill to begin with. I have multiple loan bills coming to me via both the portal and snail mail and it's getting incredibly frustrating and confusing. Meanwhile their website is about as user unfriendly as you can possibly imagine. Once again I have tried to log in and once again I cannot as even though I changed my password and it was accepted I am told it is not correct. I can't get to my information if I can't log into your garbage website.

Website Horrible

All I wanted to do is make a payment on my EIDL loan.So confusing then they tell you to go to a website called CAF can't sign in.They won't answer the phones because everyone is trying to make payments.I just am making a paper trail to cover my $#*! with the SBA.Next we will owe them so much in interest and they will close businesses I pray this site gets redone to make it easy to pay a SBA loan.Back with Interest.Someone Help

I was on hold for over 30 minutes to speak with someone about making a payment, the rep answered and told me to just go to Pay.gov and create account and click on make payment. I kept telling the rep that I already have an account and that there is no option to click to make payment. The rep told me its as simple as that and thats how you do it and hung up on me haha. This place is a joke. Now I am trying to make a payment on a loan that I cannot make payment to and cannot get a hold of someone that will assist me.

SBA Portal

Every time I try to use the portal to access my account, I CAN'T GET IN! I have to call for assistance because my password is wrong. However, it is the new password that I made a few weeks ago. 1st I wait because all the help people are "busy assisting other callers." We work for at least an hour. Today I worked with a young lady that tried to help me for over an hour. She tried everything she could to help me. Some of the things she tried were things that had been used before that actually worked. NOT TODAY! With all of these negative reviews you would think that someone in charge would take the initiative to get the software fixed. In my opinion it is NOT the people. All the people that have worked with me have been respectful and hard working except for one guy that hung up on me. You know why he hung up on me? He was at his wits end. That wasn't his fault. IT IS THE SYSTEM! GET IT FIXED!

I paid off my loan more than two months ago. I paid more that I owed ( I was instructed to do so, by SBA) and they haven't send me my credit yet. They should pay me interest!. Stay away from them. They don't help at all they make profit from covid 19.

Just because you're a government-based organization doesn't mean you don't have to provide customer service and answer questions by customers who need some more in-depth information. If you were an independently owned company, you would be out of business. I've never, ever experienced such rude pieces of garbage in my entire life.

Waste of time.

They'll put you through a process of applications and interviews and you won't hear anything back from them. You won't even know if an application has been approved or denied, it's that ridiculous. I have a small business and they have done absolutely nothing to help us.

Absolutely terrible

1) They don't respond to emails.
2) CSRs via phone give different answers to the exact same question as well as wrong advice. Some are downright rude.
3) Spent 8 months trying to get one application cancelled to be superseded by another with different information and after 30 calls and 10 emails, nothing way resolved.
4) I emailed all information they requested multiple times, yet they still send letters through the mail asking for the same exact info.
Absolutely incompetent at every level compared lending from an actual financial institution.
Additionally, their they use census tract maps in determining poverty locations, which are extremely inaccurate, lumping in rich areas with poor ones. You could be denied a grant only to have the business access the street get $10k. Absolutely ridiculous. They simply need to be shut down.

It's pretty sad that I was denied for my loan, yet they'll fund scammers ALLLL Over the world yet someone with a verifiable business is denied! They've exhausted funds because for another year in a row they allowed scammers to get funded! Wow! That says a lot about their verification system and lack thereof!

I have trying to start a business for the call last 5 months. Went thru them. Apparently they are part of SCORE now. But up north I had mentors who helped me start. My mom passed away and I relocated to GA. The laziest place in earth and even the the mentors up north sent my case down they still haven't helped me after numerous emails from them... countless phone calls from me, countless answering machines to leave messages that don't get returned,, and my business had been sitting for months due to not knowing what my next step is even though I was told I would be walked through it... Don't lie. Just say that you won't help even though you are funded through the government for people like me. Just say I'm gonna have to find someone to pay. But don't ignore me. Anyway. That's all I'm sure I'm not the only one with broken promises from them... SMDH

Administration is a tough way to go They help a few and they do help. That's why I gave him two stars but for the most people will never qualify for their loans. You have to get into the fine details to understand how they truly operates.

TERRIBLE SERVICE
November 14, 2022

I feel like it's different country. We used this service when it was hurricane Charlie everyone was helpful and was quick. Now 10 years later it's third world country, no one cares, no one answer, every time you called they said call in one week. Unbelievable, people suffer and this organization that suppose to help makes it worse, STOP WAISTING PEOPLE'S TIME if you don't care to help!
