I have been a Ring customer for approximately 2 years and just discovered that I am not completely registered with the police department and only found out recently when they were not dispatched when the alarm went off. I completed my annual registration each year but am being told by ring this week that my permit number needed to be in my ring app for it to be complete. In the past two years I have been out of the country several times & am livid to find out that if something had happened, Ring would not have been able to dispatch the police. Be aware and follow through with your police department before it is too late. Ring offered 1/2 year refund instead of the entire 2 years that I have been paying for since, "they provided camera monitoring." What a joke. Buyer beware. Before this incident, I recommended Ring to everyone and now I take it all back if they are not equipped to even let you know if your registration is not complete.
Sure wish I'd read all these one star ratings before I bought this junk. Someone should go to jail over this product. If someone rings my doorbell, it takes five minutes for it to show up on my phone. The other two cameras are the same. Many times never shows up at all.
If you opt out of "buying" your own video recordings performance gradually degrades until the cameras no longer activate live. RING will state the issue is with your wi-fi. The same wi-fi that streams movies and operates along the network. The same network that has virtually no other services running after office hours won't activate any cameras. Cameras capture monitoring but do not activate. Don't fall for Amazon's latest scam.
We bought a three pack of stick up cameras from Costco the price was very reasonable. As soon as we installed the software we got daily notices that we would lose our historical videos. I didn't worry about this since I assumed the camera had some type of internal memory and that at least some of the videos would be stored in the camera. Absolutely not true. You have absolutely no storage of any videos at all without paying for them. This is not how other cheaper systems work they always store something and want you to pay to back it up off-line which you don't really need to do. Do not buy a ring unless you're willing to pay a monthly fee forever. I consider this deceptive advertising since none of this was made clear before purchase. Other than this monthly fee issue the cameras work pretty good. But there's really no value in them without paying a monthly fee.
You can not use chat for trouble shooting their devices, so you have to carve extra time out of your day to call them. Then, after spending an eternity on hold listening to god-awful sales pitches (more than 20 minutes), a representative has you do the trouble shooting tips you already tried, and then wants you to do them again. None of which work. This product is useless, so is their 'customer service' and I would not recommend either.
I have spent almost three hours on the phone with Ring people in the last few days merely trying to return something sent/ordered in error. This is after I purchased the right product and it was rec'd.
The customer service with tech for installs are great but the rest of these people don't listen and just don't have the skills to quickly fix easy issues.

I spoke with an agent the other day who literally cannot communicate nor express himself. I called about a fairly simple question about charging a Gen 2 Doorbell. I even tried talking to him in his native language just to get thru. Even with that he had difficulty responding in English. They should not employ agents who cannot communicate. It's obvious they are not screening nor training their agents. Wake up Amazon!
Seems like Ring uses Ebay's 3rd world customer service. This product is not ready for prime time. The "instructions" looked like Ikea printed them. There are a multitude of possible pitfalls when Router, Modem, Smartphone Etc. are involved. Ring is a few years away from a good product here.
Have 8 Ring Solar Pathway lights. The plastic stake broke on one during installation. Have been trying to get a replacement and the stake has been out of stock for two years. No help with customer service.
We bought ours in November of 2015. We thought it would be a perfect solution for the winter months when we were away from home. Early on, the product worked fairly well and our main complaint was that it was non-responsive in the winter, when we really needed it. Later we discovered in the fine print of their literature that even when it is directly wired the battery won't recharge below freezing. Now after nearly 3 years, the product is always slow and useful mainly to identify the person who rang our doorbell 5 minutes ago. Glad I only bought one of their products.
I purchased a used one on Ebay. It was still registered to the previous owner. I called their customer service number. Someone in india picked up. I asked for tech support and was told to send the item back to the seller. I reminded him that they claim if you can prove you purchased it the tech can register it to you. He told me that tech would contact me in 48 hours. I guess he mean't 48 days. Don't buy used or new Ring Doorbells. Their customer support is crap. D-Link customer support is outstanding! Tech is available within 5 minutes of you calling them.
I ordered 8 items and their tracking site does not even show all 8 items, just shows "shipments" that have been shipped and not the un-shipped ones. But then it does not tell me which items are in those shipments. When I called customer support they also do not have the details of what item is in each shipment and when the remaining items will ship. So I'm left to just wait for the items whenever they do arrive and not able to know in advance which item will arrive when.
I bought the ring pro few months ago and never have work properly, they sent me a second one because the first one was damaged and the second one has the same problem; when someone ring in my house I get a black display saying that there is an error. I have called customer service several times last call was past Sunday.
I am very disappointed with the equipment and I won't be able to recommend to anybody.

I used to like ring but slowly it started to become unreliable to the point of useless. I get alerts when the person is leaving and if someone rang the doorbell good luck trying to get the app open to communicate.
Thank god for Nest Hello
Ring has a habit of blaming your wifi, home, or appliances in the home as you can see in their response, But my new Nest Hello's work flawlessly in the exact same places where my ring pro's used to be
Hi Vaughn,
I am so sorry to hear about this poor Ring experience, this is not the experience that we intended for you to have. The delay is normally attributed to WiFi/bandwidth connection but we'd be happy to further investigate this for you. Additionally, do you have any major appliances between your router and device? Would you kindly reach me at kaitlyn.rosenthal@ring.com today so that we can improve your Ring experience, please?
I would appreciate your time.

Have had this ring doorbell for about 6 mo. I hate it. It works hardly ever. Set for it to pickup movement and only picks up right in front of camera a few feet. App upgrade is horrible and since last upgrade the camera is cloudy. Waste of time and money. Will not buy another.
I had issues with my ring in the beginning but it seems to be doing better. It is not perfect but I really don't want to be without it, HOWEVER, Customer service was supposed to send me replacement screws months ago and none arrived. I've put an online request and get nothing. No one seems to know or have the screws. These screws are tiny and it is almost impossible to put them in after recharging the batteries. The design is horrible to have to keep recharging. I would give a better star rating if they would just do some customer service.
I bought this system hoping it would be a cheaper way to secure my home. Set up was fast and the instructions seemed simple. Then my Internet went down and I saw that my outdoor cameras powered by their optional solar panels went offline. So I manually reconnected them by getting out a ladder and opening the device and removing the battery, as pressing the button on the bottom to reset would not work. Then it happened again and again and again and each time I had to do the same thing. Why can't they make the system reconnect the outdoor cameras like all the other devices reconnect regardless of how they are powered? Very frustrating and their Support just says I have to manually reconnect the devices!
We have had the ring doorbell for many years, ever gave them as gifts to most our our family. Worked very well so we upgraded to the ring pro. Not sure what has changed with ring but they do not work well any longer. I have contacted ring to see what could be done many times. They keep telling me it's the internet service in my area. Well after talking to the other members of our family and finding out they are having the same issues along with other friends all over the city I find it difficult to believe we all have bad internet service! I would not recommend the ring doorbell to anyone! We are now looking into replacement for ring.

I have had nothing but problems... too many to even list. The final straw was that it frequently loses it's Wi Fi connection. I finally called customer service, and his "fix" was going to be to have me completely take the whole unit off of the wall, and disconnect the wires, then re-install it! How ridiculous! I told him I would return the whole thing back to the store before I would go through that! He just said "ok".
I have super high speed Internet and by the time my ring camera pick up someone coming to my door they are already leaving. Ring says its the Internet of coarse. Don't waste your money and they company does not back up their product. Jeff Kaplan Tampa FL
Answer: Most annoying product ever. Doesn't work but almost does. This makes you constantly fool with it thinking you maybe possibly actually got it to do something similar to what they advertise. But in the end you will be back to square one with a pricey piece of crap! Then after hrs of listening to customer services b. S. you realize you've been had. But it doesn't end there. You end up on sites like this trying to help others from making the same mistake. And trying to figure out when this hell will end!
Answer: It does not work the way it is presented on T. V. The inability to immediately respond "LIVE" to an event renders it useless.
Ring has a rating of 1.3 stars from 773 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Ring most frequently mention customer service, door bell and live view. Ring ranks 166th among Home Security sites.
