The people answering this line know almost nothing about ring operations and or products/services. Third party, totally scripted individuals so uninformed, that it's unbelievably unacceptable.

Sketchy at best!
September 29, 2017

I've owned my Ring 2 Doorbell for over a year now. Works about 10% of the time, always a 10-30 second lag to see who is at the door after you hear the ring - too late. I upraded my wifi to the fastest and added a d-link repeater - neither made much of a difference. I'm continually unmounting the bell and resetting it - firmware is always up to date. Support was very pleasant but their chat page won't scroll, so you're good for only a short conversation and done! Dial in and try gain. They have your email info but don't contact you back either. And when it's cold out (-10 deg C or 20 deg F), the battery dies in hours and the original bell power supply can't keep up with it. We're all kind of used to first generation internet products being glitchy, always disconnecting and slowing down, but its 2017,... If the product worked the way it was supposed to, i'd be happy. I want my money back and compensation for the countless hours I've spent re-booting/resetting/entering passwords, watching led's flash. It's a great idea - it works like garbage! Not happy!

Hi Abe C.,

I appreciate your honest feedback and I am so sorry to hear about your poor experince with your Ring device. You should be able to rely on your device without any delay or extra hassle each time. We cannot guarantee operations outside of our operating temperature range of -5ºF to 120ºF, but if cold weather is a concern, we recommend installing the Ring Pro as it runs off of a hardwired connection and can withstand cold weather better than the Ring Video Doorbell, which uses a lithium polymer battery. Would you kindly reach me today at Kandyce@ring.com so that we can take a further look into this for you, provide you with some additional options and make sure we get to the bottom of this once and for all? I would appreciate your time.

Not reliable
July 30, 2018

I have 5 floodcams, 3 chime pros, internet speed excellent, net gear, spent approximately $1800. 00 complete, net.
IT IS NOT A RELIABLE SYSTEM IF YOU NEED 24x7. IF ITS OFF LINE IT DOESNT ALWAYS COME BACK ON LINE. THEN YOU HAVE TO PHYSICALLY GO TO ALL DEVICES AND RE SET THEM. VERY DISAPPOINTED. GOOD FOR AMATEUR SECURITY, RECOMMENDATION FROM ME IS BUYING A HARD WIRED SYSTEM

Ring sucks
May 28, 2020

Ring door cameras suck, they are too easily hacked and they have terrible almost none existent customer service.

I had a generator (Emphasis on HAD) padlocked to a trailer right in front of the door camera. It was only going to be there one night and i figured who would steal it on camera?
The camera log shows me coming in a 5.30pm yesterday and going out at 6am this morning to find a cut lock and the gen set gone. Nothing in between. When I finally got to speak to someone at ring, (An offshore call center of course because profits are king over customer service) they said it was my settings and that they were not sensitive enough. So to be clear... it picked me up, picked up the garbage truck in the street, picked up the cat crossing but some how failed to see at least 2 guys for what must have been at least 5 minutes cutting cable and horsing the 400lb generator off the trailer. The ONLY logical answer is they hacked it... If petty thieves can hack a ring camera then they are practically worthless!

PRODUCT HASNT SHIPPED?!
November 2, 2017

We ordered $1145. 00 worth of equipment Oct 28,2017. We received an email message on Oct 30th asking for verification of the order which we gave, meanwhile the hold was placed on my cc and then processed. I had to upgrade shipping in order to get the equipment in time for our electrician due to the delay. It was supposed to arrive Nov 1st. Our electrician is scheduled on Nov 2 and no cameras have arrived. I just called the toll free number. The representative was very nice, however she also found out the equipment hasnt even shipped. We had someone try to break into our property 2 nights ago! While we do have another alarm system already installed, the images at night are not good which is why we bought Ring.com cameras to begin with. I dont know about other customers but I am extremely displeased at the delays. We take the safety of our family seriously. We ended buying a well trained guard dog. When people spend this type of money there shouldnt be any excuse for delays in shipping after a cc has been charged and a verbal authorization given. So far we are not pleased.

I have several ring cameras that I installed to monitor my visitation. It was important that I could preserve recordings so I subscribed to Ring Pro that would let you save unlimited videos (which are all very, very short--another problem). But that never worked and I could not save them unless I did so one at a time. So I quickly became disillusioned. I also had problems connecting one of the cameras and with a missing cord, and dealing with their support was like pulling teeth. I actually told them I would pack up and return the cameras and pulled the boxes but tried them one last time and they were able to resolve the issue (the replacement cord took about two weeks to arrive and I live in a very accessible area with lots of Amazon trucks around).

Then, after about a year, when I no longer needed the useless recording saving, I unsubscribed and used the cameras just to check in on the dog or to let me know if anyone entered the house. I set it to Away (armed) but not long after, Ring locked me out of the app and told me that if I wanted to change any settings, I had to subscribe to a plan. Screw that, subscribe for crappy service and support? Nope. So I had to delete the app on my phone and now I will sell the cameras on the aftermarket to the next fool willing to give Bezos more money. I am done.

HORRIBLE SERIVCE
March 1, 2020

I had a problem with my stick up cam. Ring staff tried to correct it and could not. They realized the product was defective. They said they would send me a replacement. They never sent it. So after days of waiting I called and they admitted it was 'human error'. They apologized and then finally sent me the cam. Once I got it, it was the wrong one. I called to complain and ask for the correct one to be sent to me. After several calls with a person on the phone that has no clue what they are doing and dont even know what a 'plug -in' camera is I kept on arguing. The problem has stil not ben fixed and I still have the wrong camera and am waiting for the correct one But they still haven't sent it because they have a completely screwed up system of communicating.

Typical business that talks big, but once something goes wrong they throw you under the bus. So they are quick to sell you stuff, but when it comes to servicie they are pathetic. I'm already knee deep and have a separate cam from ring. Next time I will use a different company.

Worst system ever!
November 25, 2020

I bought a ring door bell 3rd gen with chime, and for 2 days i have tried to set this crap up and yet nothing works. The door bell/camera says its online yet its not, the chime doesn't stay connected and then you have to reinstall in again and wait for it to update for 15 mins. The app has now decided to not allow me in and the 2 factor authentification codes I'm being sent are invalid, meaning i cannot even chess the app!

Ive spent numerous hours fiddling with my route settings yet nothing, the customer services number is dead, no way of getting support, avoid this hype like the plague

For £130 I've had more hassle than i bargained for. I would have had more fun burning the money than forking out for this crap

My advice is look at the cheaper versions if this type of platform, my neighbour has one he paid £40 for, does the exact same thing has it hard wired and has a memory card in to capture to video, so no additional costs. He spend 5 mins seeing it up and hey presto works no issues.

Now to try and get my money back...

Avoid avoid avoid!

I ordered the Ring Doorbell from the Amazon Website on Jan 15th and it was delivered on Jan 18th. During the process of setting up the app and doorbell, I noticed the mounting plate was missing. I immediately call Ring to get the missing part. I waiting for days and called back on Jan 27th. The agent (Linda) told me that she would have the item expediated to me and I would have it in 3 days. No mounting plate received. I called back and this agent tells me I would have it on Feb 4th by 9pm and that they do not offer expediated service. It clearly states on the website under Canceling, Returns, Missing items that they do offer expediated service. Clearly, the experience dealing with Ring Customer gives me pause to ever do business with them in the future.

CS Doesn't Care
February 14, 2022
Previous review

I've been having problems with my wired doorbell since Sept 2021. I have called Ring many times. The last time I called them the rep stated he would have another dept call me when they were available and I have not recieved that call. I don't know what to do. Every time I call they have me reset the doorbell and that does nothing. Sometimes it will connect but the majority of the time it doesn't and you can see from the screenshots what it's like. The one that says loading is from the ring app. The other that is partially clear is the Rapid Ring App.

BAD EXPERIENCE
August 7, 2021

I have been having issues accessing my camera footage and live stream for two days I spoke to a representative who is called Real C she told me they were doing an update to the camera system that would affect the live streaming and the recordings, however she said it was resolved so I shouldn't have an issue.

I told her I had screenshot notifications of the issue past the update and she told me there was issues with my cellular phone or Wi-Fi. The security cameras are on to WiFi separate from each other, I checked sporadically over a two day period with the same issues, I also insured I had full or strong cellular strength.

I've been with RING for quite some time and this is the first time this issue has happened concurrently for this period of time.

She said she did not have any way to document the issues I was having that I was able to verify and the only way to make an official complaint was to write it down myself somewhere, but I could not speak to a representative about it.

Purchasing the ring product was very easy and I had great experiences with other representatives however the last couple of weeks I've had less then remarkable experiences with three representatives two of them were supervisors

I have 3 Ring products purchased at different times. I purchases a yearly subscription plan for each. However, when I purchased the third product, Ring decided I should purchase a new plan for all three rather than just for the new product. The day the free 30 days expired, Ring cancelled the subscription for the first two products! This caused the two products to malfunction. They gave me 60 extra subscription days for the two products for my inconvenience. What good are 60 extra days if the products no longer senses motion? I was told I had to reset the products which meant removing them, resetting them, reinstalling them, and then they claimed they needed updates, and if that didn't work I was to contact them again. And then, after several customer service reps ended the chat rather than help, they simply stopped allowing me to access chat. It has been a nightmare, and they are still not working properly. I have Amcrest security cameras that do not require a subscription to record and save videos and snapshots. Never buy Ring products; it is a nightmare.

I wanted to look at one of my ring devices on my Android phone today and found a Ring Neighborhood splash screen forcing me to login or create an account for the Ring Neighborhood, which is a feature I do not want and do not want forced on me by a software update. Tried calling Ring Support, that was no good because the automated phone support sucks, there is no option to get ring support personnel and I waited 10 minutes of my valuable time to speak to someone about my issue. Got on a chat window with a Ring support person and they had no real resolution except to join the neighborhood and turn off the notifications. Unacceptable, I didn't cause the problem, my neighbors didn't pay for my Ring products, I don't want to join any neighborhood. I want transparent access to my products I paid for or I want a full refund. Ring software administrators suck and this is not the first time their update was not tested before rollout and I have lost connectivity to my own products because they suck...

DHL delivery failure
March 15, 2018

Hi, I have ordered 2 floodlight cameras with Ring.com at 23rd Febr. 2018. DHL claims that they should have delivered my order at 05 March 2018 in Norway, but now DHL back peddles on their delivery claim. When I want to file a complaint about the failed delivery, DHL claims not t be responsible for my claim and redirect me to a company in Hong Kong: Inspiring World i Hong Kong. I cannot find this company. DH also tells me that I have to complain with the company, where I bought my products, being Ring.com. Can I get an E mail adress, where I can file my complaint of the failed DHL delivery of my order.

Don't buy Ring Doorbell. This product has known flaws by the company, and they refuse to do anything to fix the product. Do not buy Ring Doorbell if you live in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Parts of New York, Iowa, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, Alaska, All Canada, Upper Illinois, Ohio, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and anywhere else in the world where the temperature gets cold. 10 Degree or colder and Ring Doorbell will not work. I called Ring Doorbell and they said their batteries do not work in the cold and they refuse to do anything to address the problem. They tell you your just out of luck wait until the temperature warms up and the Ring Doorbell should work again. Also, the battery should charge when wired to your old doorbell, but it doesn't. Ring doorbell says you must bring the battery inside and charge the battery because it won't charge if hard wired to your existing doorbell. What a poorly designed product. Ring Doorbell should be held accountable for selling a known defective and poor product that they know will not work if it gets cold. They should not be allowed to sell the product in any of the states listed above since they know the product will not work when it gets cold. Ring Doorbell are criminals and need to be held accountable for selling products that they know will not work.
