Deceitful company that hides extra charges and debit your credit card right away. Will never book through them again.
THEY CHARGE YOU THE $14.99 FEE EVEN IF YOU CANCEL IMMEDIATELY!. I BOOKED THE ROOM AND I GOT THEIR CONFIRMATION EMAIL, I SAW $80+ IN EXTRA FEES, BUT NO EXPLANATION OF WHAT THEY WERE FOR, THUS MAKING A $240 ROOM ALMOST $330.00!. I KNEW THAT WAS RIDICULOUS SO I CANCELED RIGHT AWAY, THE ACTUAL ROOM CHARGE AND SUBSEQUENT REFUND NEVER EVEN SHOWED UP ON MY CREDIT CARD STATEMENT, BUT THE $14.99 SURE DID! LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO CALL CAPITAL ONE AND THEY HAD IT REMOVED FOR ME. BUT OMG!
After much research for a hotel/price/amenities/etc I decided to book a hotel reservation at Days Inn in Williams AZ. When I googled Days Inn Reservations, one of the first (perhaps the first) link was DaysInnWilliams.Reservations.com - I assumed this was the Days Inn official reservations website. Booked my hotel room, then received a confirmation - the amount was more than the hotel room + tax. Come to find out this was NOT the Days Inn reservations website, it was Reservations.com AND they charged me about $30 MORE than the room charge and tax. This additional fee was not listed ANYWHERE - I know because I scoured the information before booking the room to make sure I could cancel. Based on the additional fee, I canceled the reservation within minutes. THEN I find out it could take 28 days to receive the refund. What a scam. I called my bank immediately and put a stop payment on the charge. I've never received a cancellation confirmation, although when I log back into the reservation it shows it is canceled. STAY AWAY from this rip-off artist. I'll be reporting this to the BBB as well.
The first word in their URL was the exact name of the hotel, and so it was not an all clear this was a third-party service unlike Expedia or Orbitz. More importantly, there was no clear mention of a $14.99 service fee whatsoever, and in fact even now if you go to that website you see no mention of the a service fee at the time you give them your credit card. This is the biggest rip off I have ever seen, and no one charges a service fee this high. In fact I think they are so misleading and their fee was so I'm disclose that I want to complain to the Better Business Bureau. The percentage of one star ratings they get on the site is absolutely awful, and I never would've used them if I would've known.
Reservations.com charges a fee over and above what the property fee plus tax is. You are paying them a fee, in my case 54.00 over and above the hotel room fee plus tax. Always call the property that you want to stay with directly and before you book ask am I speaking with the (NameOfTheProperty). Utterly ridiculous that they charge a fee for doing absolutely nothing.
CANADIANS beware. Like many others, I thought I was on the (Canadian) hotel website. I am in Canada, hotel is in Canada, and prices I believed were shown in Canadian dollars, it was a good price. Now the receipt is in USD - NOT a good deal - plus a separate charge for an unadvertised additional booking fee. HORRIBLE - BEWARE!
EDIT: Reservations.com contacted me to offer a refund for my bad experience, claiming they are trying to improve. I accepted the refund. They also offered an extra USD $100 if I agreed to remove my review. I did not agree to this. Instead, I agreed to EDIT my review IF and only IF I saw evidence of improvements that responded to my issues with the site. This includes showing prices in Canadian dollars for Canadian customers on all pages (like other respectable sites), making the booking fee known up front, as well as making it crystal-clear in what country the transaction takes place (for those of us whose credit cards charge an international transaction fee).
I have noticed two very small "improvements" - one, the "booking fee" now appears in the tally before you click "submit" for the payment. Two, the fact that fees are in USD also appears in that final tally. HOWEVER - this is something like 3 or 4 screens in, after you've selected a room based on a rate that you believe is in the currency of your country of residence. In short, the site has not substantively improved, as is evidenced by ongoing customer complaints (the shills are quite obvious). The site still appears to depend on deception to dupe customers into buying. Unclear whether this is intentional or mere incompetence.
They post their prices in Canadian dollars, charge your credit card in USD ( at a very creative rate)
While in Canada I tried to book a hotel MONTHS in advance. Seeing that I was charged in USD I cancelled, and guess what: the company refunded me at a very creative rate, so I lost money for nothing else but dealing with them
I contacted their so-called customer service to complain and guess what? They had the nerve to tell me my reservation was refunded.
Don't deal with them if you don't want to waste your time and money
First of all, I thought I was on the motel website. I made the reservation and there was no mention of a 25% "recovery fee" or a $14.99 cancellation fee. Within moments I called their toll-free number, only to get a recording promising someone would answer in two minutes. Here I am 20 minutes later and no answer. Yep - an absolute SCAM. Thank goodness for Amex for stopping all payment to them.
I thought I was on the hotel's website when I tried to make a room reservation for one night for a US$61 a night room. After I entered my credit card info, etc. and hit "continue", the site told me I'd just been charged for over $101 - the $61 plus $25 "taxes and fees" and a $14.95 reservation fee. I immediately canceled the reservation, but the site will not refund me my $14.95. I was able to make the reservation through the hotel itself for $61 plus $6 - not $25! - in tax. Reservations.com is a reservations scalper, apparently, buying up rooms and selling them at a disguised markup. By refusing to refund the "reservation fee" they make $14.95 on every transaction, canceled or not. They do not disclose the amount they will charge to your credit card until AFTER it's charged! That is thievery.
No where on the site does it say it would be charging in US funds when booking in Canada, also ha hidden fee of 14.99 was added. Why would anyone book in Canada knowing it is US funds. Waited over two hours just to get some smart $#*! guy telling me to bad so sad and would do nothing for me. Bad business Reservations.Com, I guess the old saying right you only have to screw each person once to make it big.
There was no mention of a 14.99 service fee anywhere on my reservation. I just saw it on my credit card. Very deceptive. Shame on you. I will warn other to be aware of hidden fees. Like others who have given Reservations.com a negative review, I did not know that I was not on the hotel's website until I received confirmation from Reservations.com. I was surprised to see their name on my confirmation. Reading the other reviews-which I would have done FIRST had I known that I was using something other than the hotel web site, I am now concerned that my room will even be there. My card was charged instantly for the full stay which is 10 days! Be very careful with this website. I did not see fine print. I will certainly be looking next time. Thanks for the education Reservations.com!
I made a reservation, fees and taxes were not displayed upfront, which happened to be well above the normal rates making the booking way more expensive than originally advertised. This website advertises low rates, uses Expedia (and other websites) to book your reservation, and then they charge you more for it. I called to have the reservations canceled and of course I got the runaround about calling the hotel, so I called the hotel and they told me to call the company who made the reservation in order to cancel. They hope that you give up and not do anything and just take it. Instead do the following:
What to do:
-Call your credit card company to stop the payment
-Write a letter to the BBB better business bureau
-Get a lawyer to bring this website down with a class action lawsuit to get everyones money back
Boy, I wish I'd read these reviews prior to using reservations.com. After selecting my room and entering my address and credit card information, I expected to click Continue and see a screen that said "Your total charges are $xxx. Xx. Please click Confirm."
Surprise! What I saw was "Your card has been charged "$zzz. Zz." The rate I was charged was nearly double the room rate! I understand that there will be taxes and fees added on to the room rate, but I did not expect to pay almost twice as much.
Live and Learn. Reservations.com... Never again!
March 17th I made a reservation at the Best Western in Tulare, CA for late May (2 months in advance). I thought I was on their website, but didn't realize it was your booking site until I received an email confirmation of the booking, and the hotel said it was you (Expedia.com).
Surprise! Although there was no mention of a NO cancellation refund when I booked the room, the email confirmation so stated - NO REFUND if the reservation is cancelled My credit card has been already charged.
Your are deceptive and misleading. I did cancel the reservation and I want my money back, $231.89. Itinerary Number: *******. John Laurent
No mention of the $14.99 service fee and you increased the cost of taxes when you "estimated" them. The hotel website tells you exactly what the taxes will be, but you increased that. No mention of non-refundable/non-cancellation clause. I clicked on the hotel and didn't know that I was redirected through your site. You are frauds. I would like to see a criminal investigation of your business practices. I encourage all the dissatisfied reviewers here to go on social media to warn as many people as we can to stay away from Reservations.com.
I will be reporting them to the better business bureau. NO invoice - so cannot submit a business claim and hidden $15 fee. As stated above the site did not even indicate that it was not the hotel that I was actually staying at. I was under the full impression that I was dealing directly with an on-line booking for the hotel I was staying at.
When I chose a price, there was no warning that the associated hotel booking was non-refundable. All other hotel booking sites that I have visited clearly state when a booking is non-refundable. Do not use the reservations.com web site.
Like others, I thought I was on the hotel website. I was charged in USD for a Canadian reveration, called them to change it, they wouldn't. Plus, I find out I was charged $14 US for making my own reservation. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told I would have to keep calling the 800 number until I "got an American".
Are you kidding me?
These people are crooks.
Thieves. Con artists. Evil human beings who cheat unsuspecting people of their hard-earned money. Don't fall for their tricks. If you do, call your credit card company and dispute the charges.
I made a reservation, thinking I was on the hotel website. The charge was to reservations.com and they did charge me the $14.99 as everyone is saying. I called the hotel and the hotel did have a record of my reservation and did receive full payment. So in my case I'm out the $14.99 but nothing more. I certainly will not deal with this company again.
Answer: Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. You may have to cancel your card and get a new card and card number, but it's worth it.
Answer: Impossible to get money back. They're just scumbags!
Answer: Yes, this company charges a fee, which it will not refund even if you cancel your reservation within minutes!

Answer: It can be, if its refundable reservation. Every reservations has a different cancelation policy. Mostly last minute reservations are not cancelable.
Answer: My experience is the same. reservations.com obviously nails a lot of unsuspecting Canadians this way. They don't make any attempt to help you out when they are confronted by this way of hosing us. Its a sleazy organization.
Answer: Hello Brodie, We have sent you an email this morning regarding your concerns. Please email us directly so we may assist you. Sincerely, Customer Support Reservations.com
Answer: Yes, you were billed. Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. Your company should remove it, send you a new card and assign you a new card number.
