As soon as the person answered the phone I know that I would be repeating myself over and over. I hung up and booked online. Very frustrating.
I booked a room at the Omni Chicago through reservations.com. It was my first time using the site and I was pleasantly surprised at the excellent experience i had. The website does charge a fee of $14.99 convenience fee but it was very well worth it. The site had lots of hotel choices in the area of Chicago that I was visiting and great prices. The site also provided superb customer service. The rep was fast, polite, and experienced. Overall, i will be using this website for future bookings for travel.
We made the mistake of not checking with the hotel website.
Big mistake because we could have saved about $15 for a one night stay.
This is a hidden charge only seen on some documents and is kept even if reservation cancelled an hour after being made.
Call the hotel directly and book your hotel-- it would have saved me $60
I thought I was using the web site for the hotel directly. Now I find out that there apparently was a $15.00 charge to my credit card for their service. Since I needed the hotel room due to a death in the family, I guess I made this reservation in haste. I don't know why I would need to go through this "service" to make a hotel reservation.
I will be more careful next time.
I thought I was booking directly through the hotel. Was not expecting extra fees.
I did not realize that I had made the reservation thru reservations.com, last time I stayed at this hotel I did not have to pay $14.99 for additional fees. I had gone to the hotel website and made my reservations, this time I thought I was doing the same thing, to my surprise I somehow got on this website. Will not happen again. There are plenty of other sites with no fees..
Was fine, however when I thought I lost the keys, it was hard to find where to get help
I was planning a trip to Pittsburgh for the day and stay overnight. When I log onto the Cambria Hotel website, I set up the stay over. When I confirmed the reservation, that is when I noticed an immediate charge to my Visa Credit Card. I then called Cambria Hotel and asked why I was charged immediately for our stay over. That is when I was told I had used an outside booking agent. I asked the clerk to cancel the reservation and remove the charge. She said she could not because I went through an outside agency. The clerk told me I would have to contact the booking agent and asked them to remove the charges. Once that was done the booking agent would then call th hotel and request the charge be removed. Of course I did not know which booking to contact. So I went back to the Cambria site and started looking for the booking agents name. After searching for an identification I finally saw a very small TRIPADVISORY Logo placed right next to the hotel ratings and the comments about individual stays. After three days or so, I finally reached an agent who told me that he could request a refund for the stay over, but not the $14.99 booking charge. That is when I got mad and explained to your agent that that was not acceptable to me and told the agent that I wanted to speak with his floor supervisor or his manager. He then put me on hold for brief moment and when he returned he said the $14.99 booking fee along with the hotel stay over fee would be returned. I told him thank you for his assistance in resolving the problem. I also told your agent that the way the Cambria hotel website was misleading and deceptive and that in the future I would never use TRIPADVISORY or any other site that uses your practices.
The sight was deceptive in not naking it clear that full amount would be charged immediately. Also, there was no mention of a fee. I cancelled immediately when I saw full immediate charge. Within minute. Still had to pay almost 20$ Fee.
Not pleased!
Didn't know my credit card would be charged at the time I made reservations. Usually my credit card just holds my reservations. That was very disappointing.
... until the end when you had a service charge that the hotel would have not charged me! I will not use your site again.
The details are not prominent and while it says it can be cancelled. Then the small print says there's a booking fee of $15.00 as well the difference in the exchange rate in the amount charged and what they refund is excessive. A modest difference is acceptable but there's is a money grab. And this was all done within 24 hours.
The site looks like you are on the hotel site, they said it was a great rate. The rate is the same if you went direct to hotel. Then they add a 25.00 fee.
This is a rip off. Customer beware. I already sent a note to the Better Business Bureau
On two recent reservations the final amount did not match up with amount with amount given at time reservation was made.
I was told at hotel that I cannot get a receipt for the stay, receipts can only be provided by Reservations.com. When I go to your web site and select receipt all I get is reservation confirmation, not a receipt.
Didnt realize there was a $14.99 charge for your service until after I had already paid. Wasn't too happy about that. I wouldn't have used your service if I knew I would be charged so much...
Charge of $15 to use the site? First time "shame on you" second time "shame on me". Will never use this site again and I don't know who would. You have too many competitors out there to pull a stunt like that!
After I posted this review, I was contacted by Jonathan in customer service. He told me they have modified their web page to more prominently display the $15 fee for booking. They also refunded my $15. I was more than satisfied with the resolution to this issue.
Answer: Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. You may have to cancel your card and get a new card and card number, but it's worth it.
Answer: Impossible to get money back. They're just scumbags!
Answer: Yes, this company charges a fee, which it will not refund even if you cancel your reservation within minutes!

Answer: It can be, if its refundable reservation. Every reservations has a different cancelation policy. Mostly last minute reservations are not cancelable.
Answer: My experience is the same. reservations.com obviously nails a lot of unsuspecting Canadians this way. They don't make any attempt to help you out when they are confronted by this way of hosing us. Its a sleazy organization.
Answer: Hello Brodie, We have sent you an email this morning regarding your concerns. Please email us directly so we may assist you. Sincerely, Customer Support Reservations.com
Answer: Yes, you were billed. Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. Your company should remove it, send you a new card and assign you a new card number.
