Like many others who have posted reviews here, I received dead plants from planterina. I received 2 dead Hoyas as part of a 2 free plant promotion when you spent $50. When I contacted planterina, they said they would not refund me or provide replacement because the Hoyas were the "free" plants in the promotion. Like other reviewers here, I find it interesting that the "free" plants came dead while the other came ok (still really small, but at least they were alive). Such a shame because I used to really enjoy watching Amanda's videos, but this last experience left such a bad taste in mouth that I cannot bring myself to support her in any way anymore. Don't believe the positive reviews on this site. There is a reason why all the bad reviews have the same themes (dead plants, poor customer service, non rooted cuttings, etc.)
After writing the prior review, and given the refund/replacement ultimately received + my personal belief in second-chances, I ventured a second order with Planterina. Once more, plants arrived in miserable condition (cold damaged despite purchased protection + 3-day shipping, broken due to poor/restrictive packaging). This time, replacement for a $250 plant was refused and no resolution until BBB was contacted. Shocking.
I had a decidedly mixed experience: ordered an XL Hoya Linearis and Large Philodendron Micans in November. When they arrived, the Hoya was cold damaged, frail and had dropped a large volume of leaves. The Micans wasn't great but looked salvageable, so I requested a refund on the linearis only (a very pricey plant). Planterina offered to replace the linearis and send it expedited (3 day shipping) - I agreed, thinking the quicker shipping would prevent a repeat of the cold issue. The plant was sent, but not expedited, and arrived 5 days later (in better condition than the first, thankfully, but I was surprised by the delay). In the meantime, the micans had worsened - clearly also cold damaged from the original shipment. Planterina offered to replace this as well, and said they would send ‘a large this time' (confusing, as I had paid for a large originally?). That plant did arrive in 3 days and looked better - but the package was very damp and cool, and now (as with the first) it's looking more and more frail day on day.
So, I have one healthy linearis, and three seemingly frail/failing plants. Planterina was responsive to my shipment issues and, ultimately, refunded the Micans - all of which was appreciated. Would I recommend? Perhaps if three day shipping were standard - but my experience makes me hesitant to order again, particularly any sensitive (e.g. Thin leafed, velvet, etc.) plants. I will say that the first linearis was long and lovely - true to advertising - and would have been full without the damage. The micans have been more sparse, but admittedly difficult to tell how full they would have appeared before the cold got to them.
First of all, the planterina website is very over priced. But because I really enjoy Amanda's videos and because they had an offer going on, I decided to make a purchase. It was basically a buy one get two promotion... The total for my entire purchase was roughly the same I'd be paying for those plants elsewhere minus the hassle so I said Why not? (ie. $20 per plant elsewhere or $60 for one with the two freebies@ Planterina). Anyway, I received my order after a long wait and I'm disappointed. The two plants that were considered the freebies were both a lot smaller than the advertised picture and on top of that, one of them was severely damaged. I contacted them and they said that because of the offer, they could not do anything for me. I find it interesting that the one I "paid" for was beautiful and larger than the advertised pic but the other two were less than optimal... coincidence? Idk, maybe I'm overthinking this and it was an honest shipping issue. All I know is that I probably won't be purchasing there again.
My order arrived yesterday (it was placed on 9/14), and after waiting 2 weeks to receive it, I was very excited to unbox my 4 new plants.
The first plant I opened was a Hoya that was the saddest, slimiest, most water logged plant I have ever seen. I immediately took photos of this poor little root rotted plant and sent a detailed message to the email listed on their website. Which claims to handle returns on a "on a case-by-case basis with the ultimate objective of making our customers happy."
I just got an email back with the most pathetic customer service response I have received;
"Thank you for sending pictures. We are sorry to see this plant had a rough trip. We suggest placing it in a spot with lots of bright indirect light.
We are sorry, but we are unable to offer a replacement for plants that were a free offer that are damaged in shipping per the offer."
Thats it. No incentive to order from them again, no credit for next time, no partial refund. Nothing. I am absolutely blown away. For the record this plant was "free with a $50 purchase" the only reason I spent $50 on two VERY VERY small, price gouged calathea, was because the free Hoya was a nice incentive.
Take your hard earned plant money and spend it anywhere but here!
One month and still no plants. I have emailed them 2 different methods. Once through my personal email link from my receipt and once through their website. Neither are being answered. You have taken my money but not shipped my plants. It's been almost 1 month! How can I cancel my order? I want my money back.
I spent nearly $100 on a large sansievieria jaboa and it came waterlogged. This was concerning but at the time the plant looked good and I decided to just watch the plant. After a week or so leaves started getting mushy. I would lose a couple leaves a week. After a month or so I contacted the company asking for a replacement and telling them the issue. They basically said that I had waited too long and they couldn't help me. I hadn't even watered the plant at this point because my moisture meter was still reading very wet. I will never buy another plant from planterina. There is no phone number to reach an actual human. I should have known better than to trust a website that doesn't have reviews.
The good reviews are NOT REAL. They are FAKE. Planterina.com SUCKS HARD. Do Not Purchase! RUN. These people are selling LEAVES that aren't rooted. The crazy thing is, these reviews are FALSE! I did research and tracked the GOOD reviews back to Planterina. RUN.
I am not easily impressed and usually don't write reviews but the quality of the plants I just received from Planterina is so amazing I felt I owed them a positive review! I was a bit concerned with shipping from Florida to So California but my plants arrived in beautiful condition! They are very full and lush! Ive been looking for a nice Maui Queen in my area and even high end nurseries didn't have good looking plants. So happy I decided to order from Planterina! It was totally worth spending a bit more for top quality! Amanda's YouTube videos have taught me so much so I felt they were a trustworthy source and I was right! Thank you Planterina! You are awesome! :D
I purchased a Swiss Cheese Plant. The plant was already small with maybe 5 stems. 3 weeks later, two of the stems just fell over. I hadn't watered it because the soil was still wet when it arrived. I started looking in the soil and could not find any roots whatsoever. If you purchase, check the roots immediately.
Horrible experience. They keep making excuses why the plant is not doing well. All BS its been less than a week. They send me cuttings of a plant and they are not even rooted.
I ordered a variegated Dieffenbachia, commonly named " Tropic Maryanne". This plant is supposed to have variegated leaves, patterns of dark and light markings. The one I received from Planterina had already lost its variegation before it arrived. The newest four leaves had gone completely green, meaning NO more variegated leaves will ever be produced (unless I do something drastic like chop it down to the base and begin again.) This is not what I ordered. I asked Planterina for a refund and they granted me 30% of what I paid.
I ordered 2 red Maranta plants in the size "large" from Planterina. Understanding that these are living things, I didn't expect them to be perfect or exactly the same. When they arrived one was more or less as expected, the other was considerably smaller and about half the leaves were yellow, curling and dried. I sent them an email within 2 days (hoping that given a little time after shipping that it might perk up) and never received a response. Nothing, not even an acknowledgement. I would not buy from them again.
I purchased the calatheas Orbifolia and Lancifolia, both 4 in pots. The packaging was more secure than I expected it to be, the pots secured in cardboard, and of course the plants in sleeves with a stake in each pot to prevent smashing the plant. The outer cardboard box did indicate ‘live plants' and a care card for calathea was included. The plants themselves were in pristine condition (as pristine as nature allows). Next to zero soil was disturbed in transit and they were quite a lot of plant for being a 4 in. The order was shipped within the specified time-frame of 3-5 business days (per the website's FAQ page). I am very pleased with this purchase, even though I could have saved a little money going to my local nursery. I've been wanting to support Amanda and Lauren's endeavors since I enjoy Amanda's YouTube channel so much! Thank you for an amazing experience!
Truly love this shop great plants great service and eco friendly wrapping.
I keep coming back for more...
Truly love their plants just beautiful
I ordered a plant with a planter, received plant only in a nursery pot. When asked for the missing planter I was refunded HALF of what the planter costs, if I wanted to buy it separately. The only reason I bought the plant from them was that I wanted it in certain planter, and now I'm stuck with the plant I don't want cheated of $42. It's a scam, avoid at all costs!
My last order with Planterina was terrible. While I was taking out the packing materials from the two 4"scindapsus plants I bought, multiple CUTTINGS fell out of the sides. No roots! Also, they included fungus gnats that flew out as I unpacked them.
I contacted Planterina and they asked for pictures. I sent them the pics, only to hear back from them that they'll be fine. I will never buy from them again.
First time ordering from Planterina. Spent a good amount of money to only receive a plant that literally looks nothing like the pictures they posted online which is why I bought the plant in the first place. Half empty, not full or trailing like they show you on their website. Also, FULL OF FUNGAS GNATS! Save yourself the money and just wait it out for the plant you want to show up at your local nursery. I WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM PAYING BIG $$$ IF I ACTUALLY RECIEVED A PLANT SIMILIAR TO THE ONES THEY POST ONLINE! Very deceiving! Also, they have raised their prices so much from just a year ago! It is unbelievable!
I ordered an XL and extra expensive string of hearts plant, after being soaked with water prior to shipping and being in the cold and dark box couple of days, this succulent lost all it leaves. Right after the arrival I sent multiple emails to Planterina and received only one response with suggestions to place this plant near light source, after my email with suggestion I don't want to recover this plant for this price. I received no response at all after I explained this, I am left wondering why this shop has such a good reviews. I posted my review on google yesterday, business already sent me a full refund without ever admitting anything, basically Google response was " we very sorry for your experience " and response on my personal email was " I overacted and plant could recover". This is hard to believe the shop owner is very known to plant community would think this plant will recover and customer paid for this trouble. I will include a pictures of the plant I had for 4 days only it started rapidly deteriorate next day I was unable to add to Google review since I already posted a review.
I've spent hundreds on plants there. What I kept seeing was plants that varied wildly from the website- usually much much smaller! Then they kept having issues with tracking so I'd never know when plants would arrive.
The final straw was the wretched fiddle leaf fig they sent. It took them days to reply to my inquiry and then they said it was cold damage and they would only credit me $9. I paid $50 for a plant that will likely die because THEY FAILED TO SAFEGUARD IT! They are in the business of shipping plants! No one should receive a plant in the condition I did. I would definitely not recommend this company. They have horrible customer service and their products aren't the size or quality they claim them to be on their website.
I purchased a Hoya crimson queen and received a free snake plant with my order. The order was well packed and received in less than a week. Little by little my hiya continues to die. I reached out to Planterina for a discount or 1/2 of the plant to be replaced. They offered a $20 credit off my next order. No thanks! Not interested and dissatisfied with my first online plant order. Buy local!
Answer: Seems like they are a scam. Based on reviews more than half of customers received dying plants that are not illy rooted and the customer service team refuses refunds/returns.
Answer: I decided to give them a try because of the hype around the YouTube videos and my sister having purchased from there without issue last year. They had a 50% off sale. I thought they had higher prices because they had superior product. But it turns out they just think they're awesome when they are actually basically scam artists.
Answer: I'd say no. They promise response in 2 business days - but I e experienced that to be a lie.
