I ran a search on myself to get accurate dates on personal legal matters. The advertising claimed I would get marriage, divorce, legal history. The report was totally bogus. It did not even have my correct email address! I called, complained and asked for a refund. The girl their employee was rude, said no refund, refused to give me her name or her supervisors name and hung up on me! DONT USE THEM!

Complete waste of money
October 19, 2019

People Finders tells me the individual I researched had "no marriages, no divorces, no social media, no arrest records," ETC. But this man was married and divorced three times; I was there. I am friends with him on Facebook. And already found his mug shot from a previous arrest, on another site. People Finders can get you his address, though! What a scam.

I am so upset with this company! I called them because I was getting billed every 8 days, I never look at my statement so had no clue! When I called to cancel about 2 or 3 months ago, I thought it was all cleared up, just looked at my statement again and the same thing, taking $24.95 out of my checking every 8 days! I don't know how to stop them, I've cancelled my account "AGAIN!" This is FRAUD! Please, if you are even considering this site "DONT DO IT!" I feel like I have tried everything to cancel short of calling consumer affairs! 7 on your side! Bank fraud! HELP!

Fine Print Scam
February 22, 2018

Be sure to read the fine print. I did a one tome. 95 cents search and did not cancel within 3 days and they debited my account $24.95. If I could rate less than one star, it would be minus 25. They are, in my opinion, nothing but a scam to get your money.

I just bought a one time background check on my x husband of 20 years. I made sure I was buying it for the right person and once I received it there was so much inaccurate information on it that I knew was inaccurate since I was married to him for so long. Even arrest records in states he has never been to. Thankfully I put it on my Amex since they are great at fighting disputes for you esp when you are a loyal customer but the representative at People Finder said with a smile in her tone that it does state in the terms and conditions you may not get accurate information. I don't mind paying for what I think I am buying. I did not receive what I should of. Their info is not up to date or accurate. Dont' waste your money with them.

Misleading
April 14, 2020

I was trying to get background check on my biological father. I know he killed someone and went to prison. I also know for a fact he has other arrests. I just want to know specific dates. However, none were listed on the Report I just paid $29.95 for. What a waste of money. Don't be like me. Don't waste any money on this site!

Pretty good,
July 5, 2017

I don't understand the low reviews. The interface isn't pretty, but it does a pretty good job. Seems better than intelius and spokeo in my usage, but pipl seems to have a larger database. I may subscribe again. The thing with people finders is that you have to cancel your account and then they offer about ~40% off per month to stay. It is definitely not a scam. I used it to find quite a few people.

I was billed $9.95 for a premium account that I did not authorize. Tried to call them and could not resolve. I have now disputed with my bank. And, I did not get anything on the report because they don't even report specific divorces/marriage info in my state! Ditch these guys quick.

If I could give this site no stars, I would. I experienced just what other have said. It is a scam that they carefully defend and blame you for not reading the small print. My fault that I didn't discover this scam for eight months. I found it when I was carefully examining my credit card statements to prepare my tax return. I thought I was using the site just once to locate an old friend. Instead, I found that I had "joined" at a monthly rate of $24.95. I think that they would win in court through their clever tactics but they rate an F minus for morality and ethics. Beware of this site!

Completely useless.
December 28, 2020

I was trying to find out whether a distant cousin had passed away. I had nobody to contact to inquire, so I tried People Finders. I knew his age and his address, and that he owned his home. No phone though, and no one to contact. What I got back was that 7 different people owned his house (at the same time). As to relatives, they listed almost 200 people, none of which I recognized. The only piece of new information was that he had 1 traffic stop for a broken tail light. No mention of a death, though I now know for certain that he did die this month.

This is simply a rip-off. My credit card company went after them and was able to secure a three-month refund... on a completely unwanted, unused and unauthorized account. And the 99 cent trial special was worthless, too. Don't fall for this scam! And whitepages.com should be ashamed of pimping for them.

Looking up relatives fiance who had questionable past. Outdated details came up. Paid for more details and got zero. Paid extra for it to be emailed to me & got one page not including report. No response from customer service. Looked up myself and my brother. Wrong details there as well.

PeopleFinders.com claims they only sell public information.
I did background check on the owner and ceo.
Robert Scott Miller married 13+ times and divorced 9 times.
He also has criminal record. This is public info (they spend millions $) to buy raw data like this and sell them as public record.

In my search for people residing in a particular block of homes, I found People Finders to be not always accurate in its addresses, phone numbers, and emails. When I finally located people, the numbers and emails were frequently different from those listed, and there were many people I could not locate at all.

I am also dissatisfied with their billing practices. They have a come-on of 95 cents, but if you do not cancel within 3 days you are automatically charged $24.95. (I cancelled within 6 days, thinking that the limit was 7, as with similar services.) I have found other person locators to be much more up-front and much less costly. I will never use PeopleFinders again.

I tested this service on myself for authenticity. It stated I had no record of criminal history. Uhm... not quite... I was just released from prison after being incarcerated for 15 years, and my criminal records date back to 1995. Info that I requested on family members was totally outdated... any facts were from 2012. I agree with the other reviews, as well with the "free trials, deals and such... scamming for your bucks. Don't fall for the "good deals". You'll pay.

This company like other companies selling private information needs to be shut down. They are illegal and cost the American elderly millions in scams being done from information found on their sites. Google search selling private information without consent. Please file a complaint with the Stas Attorneys offices for these companies H. Q.'s it; s the only way we can shut them down.

Utah's basic street addresses all have North, South, East, or West. PeopleFinders does not display any of them. None. Other search companies display them. When I called PeopleFinders there was NO interest in looking into what I explained. I was told several times during the call that they display what they are given. I told the individual that the product was not of use to me then and that I would like a refund. I got the response of "no, per the terms of..." which I understood. But, I will say that I have found that the service is not interested in customer feedback. I do NOT recommend them at all as there are better options available.

Signed up for service today. Completed several searches. Results seemed incorrect, so searched phone numbers of people I knew. They too came back incorrect... all of which had been owned by a friend/family member for 5+ years. When I attempted to cancel membership, was charged a $2 95 cancellatarion fee. Spoke to customer service rep, she refused to reverse fee. Even though the information I obtained through the service was incorrect. Totally bogus! Buyer beware! O
