We've been with Mybuilder for 6 months now and YES my husband has made money from it ( it continues to be the most 'reliable' way of generating money of the two sites we belong to ( Google ad words being the other) but it is far from being without it's down sides! The site has alot of vey questionable policies I'm afraid, that see's tradesman like my husband constantly feeling ripped off, without really being able to prove they really are being. Mybuilder holds it's cards very close to it's chest with bare minimal explanation anywhere on their sites of how they ACTUALLY work. You feel very much in the dark. Main bug bearers are-
Shortlisting. Shortlisting. And Shortlisting. When you show an interest in a job and the customer returns an interest in hiring you by giving you their contact number - this is shortlisting. Problem is several others can be shortlisted along with you ( which means all of us getting charged the lead fee- great for Mybuilder! Ketching! And great if you actually GET the job BUT 9 times out of 10 you DONT get the job. You'll find yourself chasing up the customer feeling like you are coming across desperate ( which generally you are chasing work. Der) Only to be told "sorry I've found someone else" You are left feeling dejected and pissed off. And hey that lead cost £5.80. Just one in a long line of lead fees that then mount up and up getting billed to you weekly. It's demoralizing and you end up feeling ripped off by both the customer AND Mybuilder.
Basically I think that Mybuilder needs to make it very clear to the customer that by shortlisting someone they are entering an agreement that means they have to give each and every tradesman they shortlisted a fair opportunity to quote to them. (and that ideally they will not look elsewhere on other sites! Although I realise this sounds a tad militant). We are continuing with Mybuilder for now but are looking at going on Checkatrade as this really is becoming an issue for us.

I have been a member for 12 months and I can honestly say that my builder is a complete rip off and the only ones making money is them, you will often get shortlisted then charged and no contact from the job poster or a nice message to say sorry we have sorted the job now and you won't even get to price the job, its about time my builder was shut down and sued for making fictional customers, really bad company, please stay well away

As a trademan, I have used MyBuilder for some time. That however has now come to an end due to their RIDICULOUS trading practises. Example:- I was invited to quote for a kitchen. This means the "Customer" found and invited me. Mybuilder then charged me £26.40 to accept the invite. Following this, the customer will not answer their telephone, has not read the messages I sent via MyBuilder, and has not responded to my text.

According to MyBuilder, this constitutes a "valid lead" and there is no recourse for a refund - in fact a flat refusal and standard response letter. This scenario has happened many times.

It is my belief that a lot of leads are completely fictional and there is no way to determine this before the event.

My advice to any traders is STAY AWAY unless you wish to literally give your money away

Registered as a building company in October 2019. We just got ripped off. We have been shortlisted by no less than 15 customers who all shortly afterwards either rejected us without allowing us to give a quote, or simply never replied at all. It is the second time we have complained to Mybuilder but it falls on deaf ears. They would only refund one customer - because she told us no within 7 minutes of shortlisting. They didn't care if the others said the same 30 minutes later, half a day later, even two days later. Their fees have caused our new business so many problems and are literally bankrupting up. We cannot afford to be ripped off any longer so have gone to Checkatrade. You pay a monthly set fee, and no more. In addition, they have a proper care package for businesses, i. E. advice, details of debt recovery agencies for debt cases, and general support. If a complaint is made that you feel is unfair, they will investigate and take control - if they agree, they will remove it and sometimes, depending on the case, remove the customer from their database. Mybuilder do none of this. They refused point blank to assist when a rogue landlord subjected our staff to unsafe working premises, and then refused to pay his bill. They are a total rip off, and i am yet another builder going to Trading Standards about this.

My first ever lead that i was shortlisted was fake, after several calls i made, finally a guy pick it, and without to waste his time he told me, this is my number but this is not my name, he also said that has nothing to do with My Builder, i request to speak with an adviser, today they call me and when i ask them why you not verify the customers ID as you doing with the tradesman? We must so you our ID plus certificates etc, She said we provide you name and number, i said ok but thats wrong, you sould change your policy for the customers, again she said, no we provide you name and number! Lolololololol, i better don't tell you how i finish this phone call.

The majority of leads are complete time wasters!
The company do not give a monkies whether you win work or not. They will charge you in every instance! And they will threaten you if you complain and do not pay.

They say they vet all leads, but they don't. Many of them do not own the properties. Although some leads do indicate that they do or do not own the property - the majority do not bother filling in this information. It should be mandatory!

I do not want to waste my time and money on leads that just want an idea on what it costs. I want to bid for real projects! I paid mybuilder over £200 for nothing.

AVOID!

QUBIK CONSTRUCTION IN NORTH FINCHLEY are the worst builders I have ever come across. The partners Navai and Matheous took money but left work undone, rubbish in and out of the home and just run off. The electrician was so rude, and not the least professional. Work was uncompleted leaving family in a very bad state. Be careful as this review is being left to ensure that nobody else goes through such bad painful experience,

Barry from sparks electrical told me that he could do it on sunday morning but it would have to be at 9, oclock & then barry from sparks electrical westbury did not turn up.( still not thinking about me) so i waited & waited finally at around 10.00 oclock i made contact with him In the following emails that followed i was told that i was rude & strange & after all it was sunday ( still not thinking about me)HEY BARRY You made the appointment on your terms Barry you did not turn up I found That barry from sparks electrical in his emails to be rude & aggressive & angry in his comment Do not let barry from sparkx electrical from westbury do it to you
