Legacy did a great job. They made the process very easy. I gave them VHS tapes that were at least thirty years old and they did a great job. I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks again
It was so easy to do the process and the staff was very helpful. It was wonderful to see video from 20 years or more ago and the ser my parents once again. Would recommend this service to everyone
Seeing our old home moives again was a blessing to my wife and I. The early life shots of kids, grandkids and pets made for a great evening of memories and entertainment. We just added popcorn!
I had several VHS tapes converted by LegacyBox - the process takes longer than expected, and the ability to track progress is very limited. The quality of some files was really poor, LegacyBox said that's because the tape has degraded - but I recently found my old VCR and bought a cheap conversion kit and the quality of the video is fine. They didn't digitize some tapes at all because of adult themed content, but I was fully charged with the offer of a credit toward my next order - I won't have a next order because my tapes are done. I didn't know what was on the tapes which I recorded in the 90s but apparently someone had recorded some of the Playboy Channel so that was the problem. I understand about policy and all that stuff, but being charged fully isn't a good practice since clearly they didn't invest the time to do the conversion. The digitization is also incomplete on some tapes, if there was a gap or pause in recording they assumed the tape was done vs. let it play through. I am now digitizing every tape I paid them to do with better results at about 10% of the cost.
I am totally thrilled with Legacy box. I had some memories from 2007. I was afraid they had been lost to the ravages of time. Legacy box was able to bring them to life. What a treasure.
Inherited the family photos and wanted to share with other relatives. Legacybox was my first choice, and it turned out wonderful. Everyone received a USB with the photos and enjoyed the gift.
That is great to hear, Lorraine! We are glad that you and your family are enjoying these digitized photos!
We are happy to be able to review much of our family history on video tapes digitally. We are collecting old photos se we can also share those digitally.
We had 41 video cassettes that were 20-25 years old digitized; memories we thought we had lost. Service was great, timely, all questions were answered promptly, politely. Great program.
Thank you SO much! We are really glad that you are able to re live these memories!
From your instructions, to your packaging, to your tracking system, I felt like my treasured videos were in good, careful hands! Thanks so much! I'll be using your company again!
Hey Melinda! Thanks for being SO awesome and providing amazing feedback. You were a GREAT customer! I hope you are able to treasure these items forever!
I have seen a couple of posts on here that seem to share my disappointment of the services. I had 20 mini DV's that I wanted to covert to a digital format. I foolishly put them on DVD's back over ten years ago and wanted to have the highest quality possible as these were videos of my children and nobody in my circles uses DVD's anymore. I got them processed in 2 months time, which in my opinion was about the only positive of the experience. The quality of the mini DV's are in poor condition. They are darker than the DVD's and extremely grainy. I had previously converted them with an old Roxio program as I had the cable connections to hook the camcorder to my laptop at the time, and the files were saved at about 15 GB per mini DV. The ones I received were less than 1 GB, so I know they were not using the highest quality possible to extract this. Fortunately, I am only out about $200 but it could have been much worse than that. Beware before using this service for mini DV conversion as you probably will not get what you bargained for. The files I received are essentially worthless to me since I have a higher quality on my DVD's from ten years ago.

Took over three months to get my order returned it was done poorly choppy errors on the screen the sound was echoing definitely not worth the money or how long it took absolutely not worth it
If you wish to digitize a trove of photos in order to reduce storage space, Legacy Box is most adept at this process and the cost is minimal to the customer.
We are so glad we could digitize your photos, David! Thank you for choosing us!
It was amazing to be able to see my home videos again. My daughter is in college now so to see the old videos on a handy thumb drive was so convenient
We are so glad that you get to re live these memories again, Sandra!
I have been using Legacybox for all of my video transfer needs. They have been able to transfer all of them, except 1 that was slightly damaged. I will continue to use them.
Hi Paulette, Thanks for trusting us with digitizing your precious memories. We understand just how important your family memories are and feel so honored that you placed your trust in us to handle such cherished items.
After loosening my husband and before that my son all I had were the old 8 track's and could not see are many memories. SENT MY 60 OLD 8 TRACKS AND NOW SEE MY SON AND HUSBAND WTH ALL THE FUN WE HAD AND GOOD MEMORIES. I THANK YOU ALL WITH ALL MY
From the boxes provided to the time finished product was received the process was flawless! Great communication and ability to track where my movies through the process.
I entrusted this company with the last images I had of my late wife. They had advertised with some of my favorite radio personalties so, though I felt they were pricey, that they were upstanding. I had hoped to present my children with with lasting images of a mother they had lost 15 years ago. What a tremendous mistake that leaves me in a depression that these precious images are lost and a voice permanently silenced. Not having heard from Legacy Box for months I started an odyssey over four months in the traveling. This was after being shifted from agent to agent, emails not returned, numerous promised return phone calls never made. After hammering their useless customer service agent weekly they finally admitted they had no internal tracking procedures and that a 'search' had not turned up my tapes. They admitted they were giving up and that they weren't going to do anything else. Oh, and they were kind enough to return my money the week they admitted to their incompetence.
Remember, Legacy Box does not care even the tiniest little bit for your precious memories. They suffer no penalty, offer no insurance. They move on to the next victim of their scam and pray not to be exposed.
Take your memories to a local vendor. At least you will know your materials arrived, you will know what building they are in and have a face to blame.
They send you a box and stickers, you put the slides into little baggies and put a sticker on each bag. About 3 weeks later got CD with digital images. Very easy process and good quality images
My experience with Legacybox has been a nightmare and I would give only one recommendation... DO NOT EVER USE THEM! I thought I was lucky to have a Groupon to save a ton, but it was the beginning of a horrible ordeal still unresolved! First, I never got the original box, so months later I contacted them and they sent out another one. That should have been a warning sign! So it finally came and after months of sorting thru boxes of photos... some 100 years old... I sent off 600 photos, 15 VCR tapes and 1 8mm movie. I was busy thru the Summer and never gave it much thought until Sept and checked online to see it was in the process of Digitizing so I waited a few more weeks and when I looked again it had never moved! So I finally contacted someone and the end of Oct. And expressed my fear that my precious items had either been sent to someone else or been lost! I then received my box a few weeks later... but nothing had been processed and the movie was missing! I have now been weeks trying to get my money back from them with no luck! I am only thankful my entire box was not lost or destroyed... but my priceless movie is still amongst the missing! DO NOT USE LEGACYBOX... EVER!
We sent our older 8mm tapes from our children's early years and they were sent back digitally to us. We were then able to transferred them to a thumb drive! So thankful the memories are not lost.
Answer: All Video and Film Transfers are done so at 480P. Additionally, we convert almost all consumer formats of videotapes, photos, film reels, and audio. Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Just put a note in your box if you have a PAL tape. *Film: 8mm, Super8,16mm, and Super16 A note on sound: Since sound on film is so rare, and to ensure we're providing the highest quality transfers, it is not our standard process to digitize film with sound. *Photos: 35mm Slides, Photo Prints (up to 8.5 x 11"), and 35mm Negatives A note on photo packaging: When sending in your photos, slides, or negatives, we ask that you remove them from any extraneous container, group them in bundles of 25 and place them in clear plastic ziplock bags or envelopes. *Audio: Standard Audio Cassette Tapes, Mini Cassettes, Micro Cassettes, and 1/4" Reel-to-Reel Audio If you have any more questions, let me know. I am happy to help!
Answer: Legacybox sends everything back to you along with any thumb drives, CD's you ordered.
Answer: No. Just went through this with them. It's a "tough luck" and they keep your money.
Answer: Nope. They took 3 months to tell me an item was "damaged" and then told me their refund policy was 20% or more of the media damaged to give any refund.
Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back! Please reach out to our customer service team for the fastest responses at questions@legacybox.com if there is anything else we can help you with!
