Sometimes, jobscan picks-up irrelevant word combinations. You have mechanism to correct that (but crossing out the irrelevant combination).
Your tool certainly helps

I've been using it a lot in the last 3 months with no results at all. Didn't improve anything so far. I still believe but still need to see real results.

Too early to tell!
March 17, 2021

Too early to tell! Ask me after I have used it a bit. There's nothing more annoying than being asked for a review 5 seconds after you loaded the page.

Too soon to tell. A little worried about having to provide my credit card information before any services have been rendered. I hope I've made a good decision.

Skills are sometimes wonky
December 8, 2023

The hard skills, softs skills, and other keywords that jobscan pulls from the job description are sometimes off. I like that I can remove the hard and soft skills from the scan and scoring. I also find that there are no brainer skills that jobscan is not picking up. I would love a way to manually add skills to the list that jobscan uses to score the resume.

I often run chatGPT (or similar) to ask it for keywords for a good ATS scan. It does it better sometimes. It always picks up obvious ones that jobscan misses.

The idea is this. Recruiters already build keywords into their ATS for each job posting for more effective matching. Jobscan would be more useful if they allowed the user to mimicked this approach.

This is the main reason why I probably will not continue my subscription--because it just is not good enough.

Hard to use
January 20, 2024

Some good analytic features but those are blocked by POOR User Interface. Power Edit and Resume Builder good ideas and direction but UI and underlying business logic obviously missing in action- jobs can will need to adjust price for me to stay subscribed

Every time I am searching for a new job, I always use jobscan.co to assist with tailoring my resume, and I always sign up for premium. I find the platform to be very helpful and easy to use. When I first applied for jobs without jobscan, I rarely got call backs. I could not figure out what was wrong as I felt like I was qualified for the job, yet I kept getting rejected. However, after signing up with jobscan.co it was very insightful at pinpointing key words and showing how my resume matched up against the actual job description. From there, I was able to tailor my resume and beat the ATS. I've received a lot of call backs as a result. Jobscan comes with a quarterly or monthly subscription model in order to unlock key features like unlimited scans. If you're on the fence and can afford it, just take the plunge and get it. Your career/dream job is worth way more than that, and more than likely you won't need the service for very long anyway. If you're at your wit's end and are tired of getting rejected, just give jobscan a try- you may be pleasantly surprised!

Too expensive. How would I evaluate the LinkedIn option if in the free trial it is shown just one section to improve? No idea if the other comments are relevant or not.

Resume writing has a many tips from as many people you talk to; but it has to make it past the HR Bots, first! JobScan helped me write tailored resumes which satisfied the HR Bots, HR professionals, and, ultimately, the directorate which hired me. I received an interview for all 10 resumes I built through JobScan (and in the middle of the pandemic, too). Parting Words: Pay for the three month subscription; you will NOT regret it.

I am a novice with having to create a student resume and cover letter. I am looking for more instruction on what each document should contain outside of the ATS requirements.

Improve your odds.
January 8, 2021

I did not keep detailed records of the ratio of interviews to applications, but I am certain that using Jobscan increased the number of interviews that I got. It does not matter that I do not have a specific number because I cannot know which jobs I would have already gotten interviews for without Jobscan. Using the Jobscan approach pushed me to build a custom resume to submit to most of the jobs I applied to. I think the quality over quantity approach to job searching is superior in general. The job that I ended up accepting was with a smaller company that was receiving resume submissions through indeed or zip recruiter, and they were reviewing the resumes manually, so keyword optimization probably isn't what got me to the top of the stack. Regardless, I will sign up for Jobscan again without hesitation next time I am looking for a job. Not using Jobscan puts you at a disadvantage. Some people mention the cost... my opinion is that the cost is almost nothing when compared to being unemployed or unhappy in a job. When the amount of time that job searching consumes is considered, you want to be using tools to maximize your effectiveness.

The key skills can be very daunting, sometimes all it needs is an "s" or no "s" or it doesn't count... or I've used almost every term except for three and I'm still at 63% how is that possible?

Despite higher match rates, shortlisting for interviews are quite less. Either ATS have gone smarter or HR members have started giving time to application documents.

I am almost certain that Jobscan's resume / cover letter matching feature helped me bypass the unfair and byzantine applicant tracking system to help me land an absolute dream role. I had no direct connection to the company I applied for, barely even second degree connections on LinkedIn, but was able to make it to the top of the pile where my resume was able to shine. I quickly got a call back from the recruiter and after a few interviews had an offer. My recruiter confirmed that my resume made it through the system and was read be her. I'm now a few weeks in and love it. This was even a more challenging position than my previous role!

Before using Jobscan I'd throw my resume around to various job boards and postings on company websites and never hear anything back, despite being almost exactly qualified or even slightly overqualified for some roles. Jobscan is able to help you match word for word what these automated tracking systems are looking for. Trivial differences like "cross-functional" instead of "crossfunctional" or "cross functional" can mean the difference between being seen or being thrown out. Jobscan removes that guess work. Anyone seriously looking for a job should sign up for this platform and put every single resume and cover letter through here before applying. The return on investment is unlike anything else!
