This course was easy to follow, allowed you to pause and resume to take breaks, and had good content. Easy to sign up for and the response to get my certificate was surprisingly fast!
It is a SCAM. They kept locking my account so I had to pay to have it unlocked! This last time, they locked it only a week after I paid to have it unlocked. They requested an additional 9.95!

Completed the test for a learner's permit one week ago. Today at our DMV appointment they informed us that the certificate was not sent. Now that I see these reviews I am not surprised. I called and was on hold for over 2 hours. There was no message about the office being closed or anything. Long story short no test no license broken hearted 15 year old.

Worst online experience and costumer service I have ever experienced. DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE. My drivers education course had stopped working multiple times and was fixed once, but after that and after multiple times of calling and being transferred to tech support (who by the way was insanely rude and always sent me to voicemail), my course still is not working. Every time they would transfer me to tech support they sent me to voicemail and even though I would leave a message with my name and number, THEY WOULD NEVER CALL ME BACK. These interruptions have delayed me from getting my driver's permit and the lack of assistance has prevented me from resuming my course. I highly recommend that those who are considering using this website find another.
Also, if you read their review section (https://www.idrivesafely.com/reviews/) you will find that they are all positive reviews but if you read the bottom you will also find that those reviews are EDITED by iDriveSafely themselves.
I have unfortunately had to use idrivesafely.com twice now for online defensive driving. The course is excellent, and the first time I ordered my driving record from a separate website and had no problems. The second time I used this website for my online defensive driving course however, I ordered my driving record from idrivesafely.com too. I entered in my information correctly, and paid $30 for my driving record. My record was never delivered to me, and although I entered all my information in correctly, they "couldn't process" it. I emailed them about it, hoping they could either send me my record or refund me for the $30, and they refused to do either. They essentially just took $30 from me, which is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. I would recommend their online course, but avoid ordering your driving record from them at all costs! If I ever need to take defensive driving again, I may not even use at all however because I ended up having to pay $60+ for a driving record because they ripped me off!
Got though it,, Got the paper,, the court lost it,, ordered a new copy from "I Drive" they charged $10.00,,,, NEVER received the new copy,, tried to get my money back,,, said there is a $8.00 refund fee,,,,, to reorder would be another $10.00,,,,, What a ripoff,,,, DON'T USE THESE BUMS!

These people stole from me. I signed up for their course and was then locked out of the program. I called in and they said it was because it took me more than the time allotted by my state to complete it. I spoke to multiple officials at both my local and state BMV branches who all told me that no such timeline existed and that idrivesafely was required to render the service for which I paid. I contacted idrivesafely again and told them this and they said the BMV officials must have been lying or misinformed. Let me reiterate that, they claimed that the BMV, the agency that makes the rules regarding driver safety programs, was incorrect.
Of course they would be more than happy to reinstate my account for me if I paid them another $49, which would have brought my total investment to $98. I went back to the BMV and told them this and was not surprised to find out that this request was out of line with the BMV's driver safety program policy which states that they are not allowed to charge more than $55 total per program.
We are new to US. Was unaware howbthe test would be. IDrivesafely helped us to easily learn the rules and signs through examples. The content was explanatory.

This course provided me with information that I previously didn't have. It helped me understand things that I didn't befor. Will highly recommend this course
It's simply an scam. Completion Certificate was never delivered to the Court House, and they pretend to charge and extra $19.99 to send via email.
Simply Outrageous, DO NOT TRUST!
Everyone else here keeps complaining about all the prices and the time they have to wait for things. They say it's boring and you can't go at your own pace. I live in Texas and I have a 90 time period in which I have to complete the course. By far this has been the easiest and most reliable course I have taken. Sure there is a timer on each page which you have to wait for, but in Texas a defensive driving test must be a minimum of 6 hours so I understand why the timer is there whether I read fast or not. As for the price, 25$ for my course or 45$ for both my course and driving record? That's outstanding! The course use to cost 100$ and if you were doing this for a traffic ticket then between court costs and the course you would for sure pay more than your ticket but it wouldn't go on your record. Now I get on the site again and I am able to pay 55$ less and I get the option to do text or video?! It use to only be 1 way and that was some text and some video. When it comes to ideivesafely.com I give them a 5 star 2 thumbs up and refer them to anyone I know who is doing defensive driving. If you want to have fun during this course then I guess you shouldn't use them but the idea is to learn how to be a defensive driver not how to joke about safety on the road.

Horrible prep for actual DMV test. Content is very incomplete. My son was passing all quizzes/tests online with 90-100% and failed at the DMV.

I apologize, but as your review made it sound as if your son had used our practice tests and the 1 hour prep course for the actual exam, my original response was based on that assumption. My apologies.
The course your son took, the California Standard Driver's Education Course is a very different thing. The material that course covers is exactly what the CA DMV mandates be covered in driver's education courses in California, We have no control over those regulations as they are set by the CA DMV itself. The course your son took is approved by the CA DMV, in part because the material presented in it is the exact same information that is presented in all driver's ed courses in California, with no subtractions or additions.
My offer of a refund was based on the language in your review and if you re-read my response, you will see that I am referring to our practice exams and prep courses which your son did not use or take, as you are aware. I apologize for my confusion but I feel that based on the language you used, my mistake was just that and not purposeful or malicious. I am very sorry for my confusion.
The Terms and Conditions for the course your son took, which you indicated that you had read and agreed to during registration makes our refund policy for said course very clear. The applicable section reads as follows:
CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICIES
It is important to us that you are satisfied with your purchase. If you change your mind about the course, we'll refund the full cost of the course purchased on our website within thirty (30) days of purchase. Refunds will only be issued if the course has not been completed. We will issue your refund within thirty (30) days of your request.
Because your son completed his CA DMV approved driver's ed course and passed the final exam with a score above the required 80%, which is not a practice test for a permit, but a final exam for the DMV-approved course, we cannot offer you a refund for his course, based on the above refund policy.
Had your son taken our exam prep course or practice exams, we would be happy to offer you a refund but the course he took is in no way designed to prepare one for the exams, but to meet the CA DMV requirements for all teens in California to be eligible for a driver's license. My apologies.

I am very sorry that you felt that the CA DMV Permit Exam Practice Tests that your son took did not prepare him for the actual CA DMV permit exam. The questions on our practice exams are directly based on the actual CA DMV permit exams and our preparation courses are based directly on the information found in the official CA DMV Handbook. Our practice exams are not exact copies of the CA DMV permit exams as that would be a violation of California law.
