Hulu's reputation is marked by a diverse content library and the appeal of timely access to popular TV shows and movies, which many customers appreciate. However, significant concerns have emerged regarding technical performance, including frequent buffering, app freezes, and navigation difficulties, leading to frustration among users. Additionally, issues with customer service, such as unresponsive support and billing discrepancies, have been highlighted. The overall sentiment indicates that while Hulu offers valuable content, persistent operational problems and a growing dissatisfaction with ad frequency may push customers toward alternative streaming services.

After cutting the cable several months ago I could only get my husband to agree to do it because Hulu live is the only streaming service that offers the Philadelphia Flyers and unless you have cable or FIOS, this is the only other way to watch them on TV. That being said I was tired of paying over $280 per month for cable and internet service. I have Hulu live which runs me approximately $45 a month and I have gigabit internet service which is approximately 100 so I knocked almost half of my bill off. Great. Until you try to watch TV with Hulu live. The constant buffering, the unsync renovation of the audio to video, the games that appear to almost be played in slow motion and standard definition, not to mention cutting off the last 2 minutes and 20 seconds of the Super Bowl in which the Philadelphia Eagles won for the first and only time in franchise history! Be advised though that Hulu buys blocks of time for events like sporting matches, so if the block of time is from 8 to 10 p.m. who live will cut off at 10 p.m. even if the game you're watching is going until 10:05)
Also if your TV is not of the newest technology you will not be able to stream directly through your smart TV app to Hulu live, you can only get Hulu Plus or standard Hulu. That's why we have Roku sticks on all of our TVs even though they're only a year or two old.
Hulu live only offers approximately 40 cable channels if you're lucky. Right now though it's our only choice besides cable. So to work around all of the issues most of the time I watch through the TV apps on my Roku stick. I can log in and subscribe to most of them with my Hulu live account, but for those that hulu live does not offer, I just use one of the 27 family member's cable or dish logins who use my Netflix login haha. I don't watch a lot of television so it's not unmanageable or unlivable for me, but if you are someone who watches live TV a lot this is not going to be the best option for you
Ads get longer and longer. Now they stall out so that it takes even longer to get thru them. I am CANCELLING Hulu!
I couldn't get the videos to play on my iPhone. Also they don't really have any good movies. The hulu tv shows are kinda lame too.
Same ads over and over again, site says I am using an adblocker when I am not, techs want to blame MY machine for THEIR flaws... if Shudder can do better, they have no excuse.
We pay for a product that hardly ever works. If it isn't a popular title half the time it skips like an old CD. Go to their website and guess what... No contact info, you must log on in order to see their phone number? That's the exact definition on a scam.
Going to remove service and then contact a lawyer because they can't hide contact info from the public. What a joke of a company.
I have the the fastest speeds of internet in my area. Everything, (EVERYTHING) works at perfect speed except Hulu. Even Crunchyroll. CRUNCHYROLL! We all hate Crunchyroll! Hulu skips, jumps, loads, buffers, and then the Superbowl. Everybody i can find i turn them away from Hulu I wouldn't wish this on my worse enemy and hope the company actually goes out of business. Do not submit yourself to this crap cuz once it gets on your shoe its hard to get it off.
Hulu is great if you are just looking to watch shows on Demand. But as far as live sporting events (which is the only reason I got Hulu because Netflix doesn't offer live TV) The games always seem to lag. I am a huge soccer fan and I am trying to watch a game on FS1 but I keep getting Playback Failure. Why am I paying $54 a month for this again? If I am paying that kind of money, there shouldn't be any lag or failure to play anything. I am currently watching this game elsewhere and the stream says FS1, so if that stream is working for FS1 then I don't understand why Hulu is having trouble playing it. Would be 5 star otherwise..
I subscribed to hulu for the sole purpose of watching the last season of Grey's. I cannot get anything to load. The interface is disgracefully outdated. I have lost an hour of my life I will never get back trying to load S14E1 of Grey's and then resorting to trying later and settling on a movie, which did the same thing! Thought maybe it was the beta program. Nope! It did the exact same thing on the original site. I am so glad they offer a free trial so I didn't waste any money!
Hulu used to be somewhat decent, but their new User Interface is garbage - it takes a million clicks to get to a tv show's page and forget about trying to find a specific episode in less than 10 minutes. So cumbersome I gave up my subscription and refuse to return to their garbage service until it's improved. Every time I've complained about this to Hulu directly they have nothing other than condescending replies that basically say, "Well, tough, sorry to see you go." Never going to waste my time with them again, which is sad as I used to love them and use them daily. I even paid for the commercial free subscription, too.
I wouldn't bother with live tv, you can't control the station, you have to watch the commercials even if on a DVR. Plus buffering is terrible. I couldn't stand it anymore. NO commercial ad is not really true but better than not.
So i got rid of Live tv and stick to the 11.99 plan. I've tried them on. Playstation vue is best for live tv. You can control the commercials and fast forward.
Tried desperately to create an account today tied to my ROKU. Followed procedure but as usual protection factors prevented me from setting up an account. For $144 per year I should have no hassles. Too bad, I will never sign up for HULU. Not worth the effort.
Constant buffering, repeating live tv to the point that it is completely unusable. We went through all of the troubleshooting and nothing has fixed the issue. Sorry, goodbye Hulu Live!
It's nice to have access to some shows that aren't elsewhere, but there are a lot of commercials. Also, never use the "Put your subscription on hold" feature unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure you're going to come back at the specified time. They don't give you a reminder that you're about to start getting charged again until AFTER they charge you, and there doesn't seem to be any way to even contact customer service about asking for a refund if you want to cancel immediately.
I finally had it with hulu, Waiting forever for the shows to buffer, shows starting then buffering again, shut off the shows to walk away to get a drink come back turn them on buffering again, Service for streaming is terrible. I cancelled. Even if the have 70million customers and could care less about 1, Well the have 69,999,999 now
Hulu reminds me of what it was like to download, or buffer, in the late 1990's. It's not worth the membership fee or my time.
And if you cancel, they cheat you out of the rest of the month you've already paid for with no refund.
No one likes to get cheated
Over the past week there has been constant buffering and freezing. This is ridiculous. Sometimes a show wont even load, and other times it wont make it 10 minutes without skipping a scene and then buffering every 2 seconds. This crap would be fine for a free service, ie, "You get what you pay for." BUT... I am paying $49/mo... I didn't know "Unlimited lagging, freezing, buffering, and skipping" was an add on I had selected!
Hulu works great for a stretch and then buffers every few seconds, making it totally unwatchable, and this is after paying for commercial-free. Amazon and Netflix never buffer like this. When Hulu had commercials, it never buffered during commercials, only during shows. Fishy.
Lost my previous review. I notice the commercials are getting longer and longer 100 min, plus. Why can't you's cut down to minimal commercial as advertised. After my rate 5.99 / month is up ( which will be soon.) it will be up to 7.99 a month ( same as Netflix) it's like watching regular tv only tv is free. Why pay any amount if it's the same as. I will be switching back to Netflix and not recommend Hulu to my friend and family as soon as the rate goes up to regular price. I will not pay 13.00 a month for non commercial when Netflix is none. I know that could be adjusted so why Can't it be changed or at least lower the price way down on noncommercial.
Very aggravating
Hulu freezes after watching a couple of episodes. I have to exit Hulu and then re-open it for it to work. NONE, I mean NONE of my other apps do that. I have extremely fast internet and fantastic NEW router. It ONLY happens on Hulu. I am going to cancel as soon as I get Netflix loaded in.
And yes, I have done all of that "generic" stuff that is described on the internet. (Un-install, reboot, etc...) Don't waste my time telling me to unplug, etc... I have done ALL of that 50 times!
I am using Roku on 4 different TV's, and 2 of the TV's are Roku Tv's, and 2 TV's use Roku Streaming Sticks. And YES, I have contacted Roku Support on many occasions.
I see hundreds and hundreds of people on the internet having the same problem, and all any of us get, are the "generic" responses from the support books they give you.
Netflix, here I come!
Answer: Not worth it since they updated their interface into an unusable mess. Customer service is awful, stay far away.
Answer: Happened to me. Stay away from hulu. My systems is high speed and works great with YouTube 4k and Netflix 4K HDR. Hulu obviously is bandwidth limited which might work for customers who watch old movies but their technology is not good for 1080P and modern technology.
Answer: It's hulu yet clearing the cashe every time before starting Hulu is substandard there overloaded
