I have had a Hoveround for five years. They notified me that it needed to be replaced and then took the lead in making that happen. They not only worked with me, but seamlessly with my physician and my insurance provider. Once approved for, they got my new chair to me in less than a week. In addition, they periodically checked in with me with updates during the process. Could not ask for better customer service.

In order to gather the qualifying criteria for my MPV5. They were responsible for all communications with my doctor and his staff. I was immediately informed when my insurance affirmed the approval and my electric chair was delivered the very next day. I am a happy customer.
I had an excellent experience with Hoveround. Their representatives were very helpful, on the phone and at home. I received my Hoveround in a timely manner and was not rushed by the Tech who delivered it. He was extremely patient and thorough with his presentation. My Hoveround has made a wonderful world of difference in my life!
How come your batteries never last anymore. My wife first got your chair in 2005 and it lasted very well for 7 years. Then she received your new chair mpv5 and the batteries are absolute junk. They never last they have had to be replaced 3 times which takes you weeks to come out and replace. I am going to use our FSA to buy a brand new chair from someone NOT hoveround. Also I promise I am not the only customer you will lose. It's just a given with shoddy materials and awful customer service. I complained and asked about the batteries not lasting and the man on the phone just replied in a non empathic way that batteries sometimes are bad. Yeah several times. You lost us. Thanks for the time we had but now I must dump you.
The first girl who had an attitude demanded my mom's SS# to verify Medicare benefits. You don't need that, just her medicare #. I asked for a supervisor and she hung up on me. I called back and asked for supervisor and Nicole said one would call me shortly. NOT QUITE. I got a recorded message telling to call their main number. I will not get on an unprofessional merry-go-round. I will take my business elsewhere.
I love the hoveround wheel chair, it's dependable, comfortable but I can't say anything good about the service! My axal is bent & in desperate need of repair. I've been waiting a month for service! This is inhumane!

This has got to be the worse customer support for a product I have ever had to deal with. Customers who use your equipment NEED their equipment working. I have been waiting for replacement batteries for my mobility scooter for 6 weeks. You send a repair person to my home to 'fix' it who has never seen or worked on a mobility scooter for which I had to pay $125.00. Your customer support employees are rude and could care less if your problem gets resolved. There must be no communication between the service and insurance dept within your own company. Very disappointed and frustrated. I NEED MY SCOOTER FIXED!
I had the displeasure of dealing with two departments, technical and sales. I am not normally one to write about issues or give low ratings, but if this were my business I would want to know. Technical mishandled my battery order so bad I asked for a manager (which the tech tried to refuse to even have one call), I was given misinformation and even a lie by the tech, and I wasn't told till the batteries were sent to send that there would even be a cost. As far as ordering a new chair, I truly felt I was nothing but an account, and as soon as they got the doctor's mobility review I was told it wasn't written right, get another review, till then good-bye. Maybe I've just been lucky and got a chair that was made on a contented worker day. I love my Hoveround and have had only one small problem with it. It's 14 months old and has had medium usage. Something squeaks that sounds like bushings that if it gets worse I'll have to have it looked at. Here's a note for people about to get one. Get hard rubber tires that you don't have to air up.
We have been waiting for parts for our chair for 2 weeks, and when said parts arrive we have to find someone to put them on for us as there are no technicians local. This is not a good way to run a business. There should be more timely delivery and someone to install new parts. I give Hover round a fat 0.
I have been waiting for a service visit for batteries for my husband's chair for almost 2 months. He was told they have the batteries but don't have a screw which has nothing to do with him being mobile. This is the 3rd time we have waited for unreasonably long periods of time for service. If you are reading this I would find another company who is more empathetic to their customers needs. My next step is to a lawyer or better business bureau. No wonder I see less commercials for this company. Unacceptable service!

Would give a negative rating if possible--a 1 is too high. Recently tried to replace my power chair; it was a nightmare! They brought me a larger chair, even though it doesn't fit in my house, because I was 3 pounds over the weight limit of my old model. Was told by several reps that if I was rechecked and was even just AT the weight limit, they would replace it with my old model. Two weeks later my doc certified that I had lost 4 pounds and was actually under the weight limit but when I then tried to exchange it, they told me I had to be TEN lbs UNDER the weight limit. This was never said by any previous service reps. Tried to blame my insurance who had already ok'd replacing the smaller chair. BEWARE! Once they've sold you equipment and have your money, they do not care and will apparently tell you any lie to make returns/exchanges impossible, no matter what they've said previously. I would NEVER recommend Hoveround.

The lady I talked to on the phone was great and very good at setting everything up, and giving me all the information I needed in getting my chair and making my doctors appointment! Then when I chair arrived the person was real nice also even when he came to check my home for the insurance! I am well Pleased and well tell everyone about the service that was given to me from Hoveround!
I was expecting this power wheelchair request process to be involved and lengthy. Instead of months it was only a few weeks before I was notified that my chair was ready to be delivered!
Buster, the delivery, set up and proper wheelchair use instructor, was top notch! He made it easy to understand how to properly get seated, buckled in and maneuver using the joystick controller. Taught me how to park it, dismount, and connect the charger.
I am really enjoying the comfort and freedom my Hoveround chair provides... and it's made in the USA!
I never got my equipment through them. I was told by a representative that it takes almost a year to get through their process. All of the representatives are not on the same page. I went through another vendor and had my power chair within 3 months same insurance and all.

I asked how much it cost so i could figure out my copayment. Not willing to reveal the price so I have to wonder what else they don't want to reveal. Won't tell me where I can test one out to see how it works and if it's worth the cost.
The man that came out to deliver my machine was very knowledgeable about how to operate and care for it. He explained in layman's terms that I can understand how it worked and demonstrated its capabilities.
Chair is falling apart in 2 years. We think we were given a used chair, for a new one. When we checked the batteries after 3 months, one was disconnected. The controls have gone bad, and a motor is going out. No help from the company. Go elsewhere.
My operator was very polite, helpful and put my needs first by asking me what I need including extras for my scooter and calling my Dr. for me to get my scooter to me as fast as possible!

Answer: So sorry to hear that. I am no longer living with my father-in-law, but I can add to my earlier review and comments. The company did exactly the same thing to him, again. A year later. They got in touch to say that Medicare had accepted their appeal and that the chair was now finally his, and they sent a guy round with the paperwork for signature and everything looked great. It subsequently turned out that Medicare hadn't approved anything and didn't know anything at all about the appeal, and that they were not going to pay. The story that Hoveround gave me was smoke and mirrors and back came the bill for the chair again. As far as I know, a year and a half on, the chair is still not officially his. I probably won't hear anything more about it now, but I'm quite glad I don't have to deal with these people yet again.

Answer: Yes, if doctor can prove medically necessary. Doctor must make file notes to support and you must have an office visit that only addresses the need for your chair.
