I was told I would recieve paperwork for my doctor. It has been almost a week now and
I have not heard anything from Hoveround. If it takes this long to mail paperwork, how long would it take for anything else?
I transport many people in many different chairs. There are 4 tiedowns to hook to the chair and tighten. A passenger got on with a Hoveround Mpv5, and there was nothing to hook the tiedowns on. Anyone in a chair sees Doctors regularly, how are they supposed to get there, drive their chair 5 miles in traffic? I called Hoveround to find out how to tie the chair down, they told me you cant, it's not built with tiedowns because the insurance won't pay for that. The tiedowns should be standard, like the footrest(? Or does Hoveround charge for that also?). Putting hookups for tiedowns would cost the company at the MOST, $10, and I believe in actuality it would be under $5. I'm waiting to talk to the ADA, there's no excuse for this.
And to the lady that said she didn't have the money to sue for the problems with her Moms chair. Talk to a lawyer they usually don't get paid till you win, and it's a percentage of what you win. Good luck, these people need to be shut down.
The service provider, Dana, was the one that delivered my chair 6 yrs. Ago and has been the only one to come out and preform any service needed and will be delivering my 2nd chair in a couple of weeks. He has been friendly, respectful, helpful and just all around wonderful every time he has been out. The service I have received from him was the big factor in deciding to stay with Hoveround for my next chair. The chair itself has been great and only needed regular maintenance but the security of knowing the same person would be coming out gave me peace of mind. From the case specialist, to delivery and maintenance has been a wonderful & smooth experience every time. Thank you Hoveround crew!
Friendly costumer service rep helpful, and very good explanation. I would recommend this company to anyone that would needs a power chair. Very experienced customer serve representatives and very friendly.
My Hooveround has made a big difference for me. I am able to get around the house to do things I was unable to do before with out the fear of falling using my walker. I am also able to go out doors and enjoy the sunshine and go around the neighborhood. I'm not confined to the porch.
The chair is too small. Seat is much smaller than my last Hovraround chair. Chair sits higher than my. Last
Did not come with the little bag or cup holder. I feel squashed in this chair. O have not used it because I want the same size chair I have. My. Arms don't sit comfortably on the arm rest. This chair is not a improvement over the last chair. If I can't have the same size I had before, then come back and get this new chair. I don't want it. I'll continue to use my old chair until it breaks down.
Basically serves the purpose of indoor transportation, but, elevators and thresholds are very dificult to navigate.
Now, red tape is threatening taking it from me. It is a Catch 22 or a case of can't live with it, can't live without it!
To get my scooter I was told that I had to see my doctor and Hoveround would send him a form to fill out. I went for my appointment, but the doctor told me he had received no form. I called you back and was told a form wasn't necessary, just a letter from my doctor, You got the letter, but the next time I called I was told you needed a form filled out. Hence my frustration.
Inconsistent application of needs to apply for insurance. For the first chair I got, I had to do practically nothing. Hoveround took care of getting the necessary approvals. For the 2nd chair, Hoveround seems to have taken the stance of "hands off." I have yet to figure out how to convince the insurance of my need.
Everyone I had the pleasure of speaking to, was very polite, knowlede! They were also quite friendly. They did not rush me or pressure me. I felt like I was talking to friends.
I truly enjoyed speaking to these wonderful people, they were so patient with me. They even cracked a joke or two. It was wonderful talking to such warm people.
Thank you for putting up with me. Gablei
The entire experience with Hoveround was exceptional. They did most of the work regarding health insurance and the paperwork my doctor needed. Two days after my insurance told me I was approved I had my Hoveround MPV5. WOW!
I called your tech department and advised them that there was a clunking sound coming from underneath the chair and that it pulled to the left. He then transferred me to the sales Dept.where I was informed that there was a problem with this model and she went ahead and ordered the parts. I called tech support today and was told that my parts weren't in and he didn't know when they would be. I suggested swapping my chair for a new and he rejected that and told me if he did that he would have to swap thousands of chairs. I have 30 days to return the chair and I may explore that option.
Everything was wonderful, the delivery was right on time and great care was given to details.
Benjamin, thank you for your kind comments and high star rating! We will pass on your feedback to the team at Hoveround. Thank you again and have a great day!
I bought a Hoveround instead of a Jazzy because they spoke so much of their customer service. I have had my hoveround for a little over a year and the battery went dead. I have been trying to get someone from Hoveround to replace my battery for 5 days now, and no one has yet to come. Keep in mind that I cannot walk. I have had to have people come and bring me meals, help me to the restroom, etc. Hoveround said my insurance wasn't responding. I called my insurance co... Hoveround had never contacted them. So I called Hoveround back and explained that situation. They then said they were waiting for my dr. to return their call. So, I called my dr. You guessed it, Hoveround had never called them, either. So, I had my dr. call Hoveround. And I am still waiting. Not sure what the excuse will be tomorrow. My advice to you is to steer clear of Hoveround and buy a Jazzy!
I live in the country drive is sand and dirt. The MPV5 Was recommended. Have been stuck several times. The last time I was stuck I set for 3 hours before I was found. Had to move mailbox, because I got stuck out there 10 times in the road. The last time I rode it it ran out of juice with 3 bars showing. Went itack to my Pronto.
I got this chair last may. The people were so nice. But when it was delivered things changed. The niceness left when the tech. Left. I called customer service because I was having a problem. Talk about rude, she was down right nasty. The whole control unit has not worked right since I got it. They sent a srvice Tech out, He took my chair out to his truck for about 1 hr. Brought it back and said all fixed. Well you guessed it. Not fixed. I have delt with these people long enough. Tomorrow I call them to come and pick this chair upI guess I am ok due to medicare changing it, s rules where I have to rent it for 13 months than they pay. So I get some satisfaction. Oh, I am a double amputee. Oh I almost forgot. They do not send u a new chair if you have medicare or a medicare HMO. They send you achair that somebody else had but did not keep!
Back in November 2014 I obtained a hoveround scout for my wife cause she can't walk or stand very long. After I recieved it put it toghter an charged it up it worked as discribed. The only problem I have with it is that the tires are to hard an when ever she hits a bump it hurts her back. If anyone was to ask me about the unit I would advise them to buy a unit with air infleted tires for a better ride. But over all very happy with the unit
We were rear ended the middle of August and my power chair and lift recieved all the damage. It took a month to get the money to repair them from insurance. I had to pay $150 for the tech to come out and give the insurance company an estimate on repairs. I ordered the parts over 2 months ago and have been told twice a part is on backorder for the lift. Twice I have been told that ALL the parts had been sent to the tech. They called 3 weeks ago and scheduled a service call and I asked if he had all of the parts and was told he did for the chair and the lift. This morning he calls before he comes and says he doesn't have the parts for the lift! I am so upset with this company!
If you happen to get a hoveround chair, at least on the "MPV4" to make the seat recline, on the left side (as you are sitting in the chair) at the hinge for the back of the chair there are 4 drilled & taped holes. If "your" chair does not recline, remove the stop screw in one of the holes. Thats It!. It'll now recline. Hoveround wanted $500. To remove that screw 5 years ago. Of corse they won't tell you what's needed to make it recline.
The call was an intake for insurance purposes. The rep was pleasant and courteous.

Answer: So sorry to hear that. I am no longer living with my father-in-law, but I can add to my earlier review and comments. The company did exactly the same thing to him, again. A year later. They got in touch to say that Medicare had accepted their appeal and that the chair was now finally his, and they sent a guy round with the paperwork for signature and everything looked great. It subsequently turned out that Medicare hadn't approved anything and didn't know anything at all about the appeal, and that they were not going to pay. The story that Hoveround gave me was smoke and mirrors and back came the bill for the chair again. As far as I know, a year and a half on, the chair is still not officially his. I probably won't hear anything more about it now, but I'm quite glad I don't have to deal with these people yet again.

Answer: Yes, if doctor can prove medically necessary. Doctor must make file notes to support and you must have an office visit that only addresses the need for your chair.
