After learning there were 2 negative reviews on our glassdoor.com site we decided to become an engaged employer to learn more about the site and the benefits.
They require 2 phone interviews before quoting a rate. Before quoting they ask who the decision maker is. They don't want to speak to someone unless they can make a decision quickly. Then they want to know what your budget is. They are firm on this. Again, they don't want to educate you they only want to speak with you if they can get you to sign up. I honestly wanted to sign up. They quoted me $7500 - $10,000/year with a one year contract required. I told Jake I needed to do some research before committing. When I found so many poor reviews online he became offended that I looked at community driven reviews rather than just trusting the reviews straight from the glassdoor.com site. When I questioned the reviews he basically shut it down and said glassdoor.com is not the right fit for our company. This was definitely a sales pitch with little to no value. It is a great concept but poorly executed.
I had to make an account with Glassdoor to apply for a part time job no way around it. Glassdoor sold my phone number now I get 20 robot calls a day.
Thanks Glassdoor you Suck!
I have recently found out that glassdoor use negative company reviews as leverage to squeeze some kind of membership subscription out of companies.
Myself and a host of other employees who walked out of a company (due to be asking to do some things that were basically illegal) had left 100% honest reviews on glassdoor about the company to warn off anybody who might be suckered into employment there. Roll on five weeks, they have all been deleted. We had been warned that this might happen so instead of writing seething reviews, we made sure that the reviews were very well balanced and refrained from mentioning the illegal activities that we were asked to partake in.
Apparently once a company gets a few negative reviews glassdoor contacts them and makes them aware of the reviews. Glassdoor suggests that the company sign up for a paid subscription which will result in each review being scrutinised under much stricter posting rules... rules which apparently only about 8% of reviews manage to get past.
So glassdoor is basically a scam.
This site gives you the chance to tell the world, anonymously, how much you love or hate your job, your manager, your salary and your co-workers; to recommend it or otherwise, and to describe how difficult your interview was. It also features a very large number of job recruitment ads and overall it can be a fascinating, if not necessarily entirely reliable, inside look into the world of work in the USA.
You'll need to use some judgment in deciding which comments are honest and which aren't, from the brown-nosing to the downright bitter, but especially where a large number of employees have reviewed their company there does seem to be a general consensus suggesting most people are reasonably truthful.
You'll be expected to sign up for a free site membership once you've looked through a number of comments and reviews, which is probably worth doing if you're in the job market. There is undoubtedly some very useful inside information to be had here, about general working conditions in various fields and the kinds of things you should know if you want to become a successful interviewee.
Had a company review posted on Glassdoor for 2 months, then boom it was gone. Nothing from Glassdoor informing me that the review was going to be deleted. I found nothing helpful in the FAQ's about why this was and got in touch. Explanation provided was appalling and no context to what I had inquired about. It was obviously a boiler-plate response and I responded as such. Further response was that they use algorithms to determine a fake review, cannot submit more than one review per company, no derogatory language etc. In all cases this was not correct - 1st time review + it was a true account of the time spent at the company and it was not offensive in the slightest. Having looked through the feedback at sitejabber & qoura... there appears to be a lot of people complaining. Only conclusion is that Glassdoor is heavily influenced by the very same companies that people seek out honest reviews. Whether there is sponsorship involved or not, there is something not right here. It needs further investigating and perhaps an Ombudsman type body to review further,
Title explains it all. You can't use the site unless you contribute. You can't even look at job openings...
They also delete reviews that companies complain about.
Glassdoor is unreliable for company reviews. Spread the word. They are only publishing what they want to most likely based on their relationship with the company involved.
They remove perfectly legitimate but negative reviews even when you follow 100% of their Guidelines. They work for companies, not for candidates.
I have flagged a review for a company as the review is in multiple violations of Glassdoor's own Community Guidelines and Terms of Use. Multiple times and by multiple people involved with the company we have pointed out that the same person posted multiple reviews, that the same person posted the reviews under the wrong company name and that the same person is in violation of a confidentiality agreement / non disparagement agreement. All of these items violate Glassdoor's rules and they just write back saying a manager has review our complaint and the review is acceptable. A small company is going to have hire a law firm to get an injunction against an entry level a former employee who worked for the company six days and file an action against both Glassdoor and the former entry level employee who worked for the company six days. What a waste of time and money. It really hits home that anyone can say anything about anyone, and Glassdoor is just the vehicle to permit this type of disgruntled speech. Glassdoor does do investigations, contrary to what they say on their website and they say they don't sides in factual disputes -- they do and they just keep sending out the same recycled responses to flagged complaints rather than do what they say they are going to do on their website. Very disappointed - it sounds like a good website in concept - it seems like they just want saucy stories to drive up their traffic volume.
I've been searching jobs in "Perth, WESTERN AUSTRALIA" but the website gives me back a list of job vacancies in "Perth in UNITED KINGDOM".
I know that we still have the Queen is still our Head of State, and I do really appreciate the effort in finding me a job, but really? It is a little bit too far, don't you think?
Glossdoor.com is a total FRAUD site. Do not enter information about yourself or your company. That information is being farmed and you are potentially going to be scammed. Beware!
In addition to totally SUCKING, pitching me the same jobs i already applied for, and jobs im not qualified for, Glassdoor also LOVES to DEVALUE ALL APPLICANTS with their salary scale. I know what lead design positions, art director, 3D modeler, concept artists make salary wise in a game company. ALL OF THEIR LISTED SALARIES ARE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS LOW. Even the one company i applied to and got a phone interview with said glassdoor does that, and that they actually pay the RIGHT amount, and to ignore what Glassdoor had put up. Sounds like theyre trying to scam people.
TFG VACATION INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED good company I am working 3 years old and i am student i have paid 5850 and i got salery monthly ******* i am very happy thanks for tfg you changed my life currently I am doing work this company and company sponsor also Full support me thanks guys
Terrible site
Allows people to post anonomous reviews
Which brings out the real lack luster, untalented, lazy employees to disparage hard- working, talented and driven coworkers
I have been under a "attack" by one or more low-lives since the hiring of one of our employees
The site allows people to post multiple reviews under different names and other info- I have tested it
Have made positive reviews of my company and have also written reviews responding to some of the false negative reviews
Glassdoor does not screen individuals at all
You could be from another planet and they would post your negative review
Glassdoor is truly a terrible site and I will tell everyone I know how I feel
I hope this is anonymous, I wouldn't want anyone to know who I am!
Sounds like Glassdoor has become just another liberal site, controlling what and what not to be allowed on their site. Glassdoor, you suck! And eventually, it will catch up with you.
I posted a review on my former employer because, although no company is perfect, they don't deserve all the negative reviews BECAUSE all the reviews posted are from independent contractors contracted by my former company and NOT employees. There is a huge difference...

To do anything (i.e. Read) you need to sign up and not only that you have to make annual reviews? They also spam your mail once you do.
Glassdoor is a terrible website. The website is very slow, incorrect information is posted all of the time in regards to job employment. It is an obsolete website and not worth your time.
Glassdoor is a FAKE corporate review company run by the politically-correct s**t-for-brains crowd. THEY CENSOR ALL OF THE REVIEWS PEOPLE POST and do not post most of the reviews people submit. They are A JOKE of a company - very similar to the way America is becoming a JOKE of a country
Answer: When a company gets negative reviews, glassdoor contacts them and uses the negative review as leverage to get the company to sign up for a subscription with glassdoor. They pretty much tell the company that if they take out a subscription the bad reviews will be removed
Glassdoor has a rating of 1.5 stars from 273 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Glassdoor most frequently mention community guidelines, class action and disgruntled employee. Glassdoor ranks 326th among Job Search sites.
