I was charged double for the same car rental and have been on the phone with customer service twice for a total of 2 hours and am getting no help at all. Worst customer service I've ever experienced.
NEVER AGAIN!

I have been a loyal Expedia customer for a long time. However, I will NEVER book another trip via Expedia again. Expedia lies when they sell you a room in a hotel. Also, their customer service is extremely poor. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend anyone to use Expedia.
I booked a trip to go to Bangkok with Expedia. When I arrived at my hotel I was places in a basement room with no windows. Also, due to poor ventilation the basement was very hot. The air conditioning in my room struggled to cool it down. Expedia never told me that I was going to be in the basement. Moreover, on their site they make look like there is a fool front glass window in the room. I had to leave the hotel, and book another place in the middle of the night due to conditions I was placed in.
Expedia flat out refused to refund my money. They said " because you moved out early" we can't refund your money. After playing phone-tag and speaking to many representatives I gave up. After all I'm on vacation and can deal with them after I return. Luckily I have the pictures of my reserved and actual room. I don't know yet what the outcome is going to be. However, I'm going to find another company to handle my trips. I travel several times a year and often bring my family along. I'm sure there are plenty of better companies that gladly will take my money.
I have used expedia many times. They normally have good prices and never have an issue with payment even international credit cards. Highly recommend.
First, I tried to book three tickets at the same time to the same destination. Their guarantee states 'Lowest Fare' and there are only seven tickets left at this price. I chose three seats as there were plenty left. After I hit 'Submit' it comes back saying the flight is sold out. I thought this had to be mistaken since there were seven seats left so I submitted again. In the meantime, my bank alerts are blowing up my phone saying thousands of dollars are pending to Expedia. I thought I was being hacked so I immediately closed my accounts. Then I found out that since the flight was from United, Expedia allows them to freeze any monies for 1-3 days for every attempt I made to re submit my flight request. No warnings - No authorization by me - Just took. Isn't that stealing for at least 1-3 days? So after several HOURS on hold, I was told by Expedia and United that they would not give me any consideration for any further flights and they were so sorry for my inconvenience. Now I have to wait 1-3 days to reschedule the flights since they have over $5000 of my moneys 'pending' which should be a crime. Meantime, what happens if flight prices go up? I have to eat it thanks to Expedia. What a crock...
Horrible customer support. Impossible to get through on the phone. Once you do get someone ythey barely speak English. Last time I am booking with them
Another antiquated business that needs you to create yet another marginal internet account instead of using top-level single sign on SSO providers i. E. Google
We booked a car, travel all cancelled by AIRLINES used thru expedia and expedia refused to refund car. Said the non refundable portion was mentioned AFTER u paid. NEVER AGAIN. They have 1000 more sites that are better than this
Ur greed and suckage of employees will not put you out of business soon enough. USE SOMEONE ELSE!
I have been a customer of VRBO.com for 5 years. Since Expedia acquired VRBO and it's affiliated companies, they have really shafted customers and Renters.
-
For example, every guest must pay online.
NO checks allowed or they threaten to shut down your property listings.
-
They are in my opinion GREEDY, because every Rental now has a 9% "Service Fee" added, which is just done to add profits for Expedia (the parent company).
-
Additionally, by forcing online payments, bank fees are 2.5%
-
In summary squeezing the little person, by adding an 11.5% profit to the company on every rental, is totally unacceptable, and forces the price of the rentals down from prior years when there was no service fee.
-
This is my own personal opinion. I believe in America freedom of speech is still allowed.
-
Add Expedia, they rule with an iron fist, threaten customers, and have change their pricing model to do nothing but increase their stock price which is going down.
-
You have been warned, so please think about doing business with Expedia and they're affiliated companies carefully!
-
Buyer be aware - they don't care about customers, travelers or even their employees!
I buy my plane tickets here. Like all but with exception that if you go abroad and want to change something you will need to call UK callcenter rather than local one.
NEVER BOOK WITH EXPEDIA AND AFFILIATES
7/10/17
BEWARE when booking for travels with EXPEDIA. I have made sure no one I work with, who works for me, my friends and family... EVER BOOK WITH EXPEDIA. This was the worst booking experience for the following reasons:
1. The site booked me at a nearby hotel option which turnout out to be 2+ hours away;
My Wife and I used Expedia to book hotel room. We drove to hotel late at night and the Expedia room was short one bed. Hotel Mgr says "we have had all sorts of problems with Expedia. You will need to call them as they are the 3rd party that booked your room" fast forward 2 hours on phone with someone from India, they cannot do a refund without "checking" into it first. How long does this take? I asked. "Several days Sir" the India voice responds back. We had to make pallets on hotel door to sleep without the additional bed we paid for. Hotel had no other rooms available and our limited money we had in bank was held hostage until Expedia "checks" it out. Then 2 weeks later, we get an email from Expedia declining our refund. Even the extra money we paid for the additional bed. Lol! True story! They are a fraud company and if you see them in your smart phone while browsing for a room or reservations, move onto someone else or call the hotel, rental service or airline directly or go to the company's direct website and leave this leach of a so called business, Expedia out of your life. They will skin you alive and talk circles around you while they are doing it. I'd have better luck asking The Prince of Nigeria for a refund than I would Expedia.
Believe me, I've tried it, the worst booking Hotels, Flight & Cars in the net.
Don't think about trying this website EXPEDIA
My Itinerary # ************** dated April 29, I bought a flight ticket from Amm to Mad
Expedia charged my credit card three times $398.96 + $400.08 + $398.96
So if you Don't have no enough balance in your Credit Card to deposit for car rental and they ruined your planes, then say "THANK YOU EXPEDIA"
First off, i wonder if writing a review on Expedia will make a difference in any way? I have dealt with expedia multiple times and they screwed up to some degree many of those times, but they made it right each time and the best price speaks volumes. This last time they emailed me indicating my resort could no longer honour my reservation, but they would offer comparable accommodations in my final destination or two other locations. I took one of the the locations, paid a 800$ upgrade and then ( once it was booked) was told i could not alter my flights in any way. WHy offer other locations knowing i could not alter my flights? After multiple calls and over 6 hours on hold over 3 calls ( one call 3 hours 38 min. 1 second on hold) They said they would fix the the flights and i though things were resolved... they they called back and said they changed their minds and I get nothing... I kid you not. A Corporate supervisor overturned customer service's decision to make things right. So I paid over 1700 more not to lose my vacation... I am feeling anger... and this is all I can do about it. Unsatisfying to say the least.
I will close my expedia account. I used for over 5 year and I did not get any advantage. The reward program is a scam. Ciro Trombetta Member ID: *******124
Anniversary trip to Orlando for my boyfriend and I. Booked through expedia, supposedly paid off through a third party Affirm. It allowed me to pay over a couple of months because over $1000 for flight and hotel was a lot for me all at once. Affirm stated that Expedia was processing the itinerary, we never got a confirmation and Expedia denied all liability. IF THERE IS NO ALTERNATE WAY TO PAY, DON'T ADVERTISE ONE. Spent an hour and a half on the phone with customer service who just kept repeating "We don't have a record, what's your confirmation number?"
I don't have one, thats the issue. Will a $50 credit do? For a $1300 trip I'm already out a monthly installment for? No.
Booked 3 tickets in economy class from Rio de Janeiro to Brasilia for myself and my parents through Expedia on Avianca airlines Brazil. My father has a serious lung and heart problem and due to this was informed by the doctors that he could not fly for the next year. He also had some complications from his stent surgery. We sent a medical note from a doctor to confirm this to Avianca, they refused the refund stating they will only give back 5% of the airfare for the 3 tickets. Expedia was the agency we booked through, they would not help us. I spoke to a supervisor who basically regurgitated what the agent stated, no customer service orientation at all. Avianca is a greedy company with no morals and no heart, avoid them at all costs. Expedia has incompetent staff who couldn't care less. I thank God these tickets were less than $400 USD for all of us, otherwise we could have lost out on thousands of dollars due to Avianca's horribly unfair policy and Expedia's refusal to stand up for us.
I used Expedia's unpublished hotel deal. You get a price and a hotel star rating and an area of town before booking your hotel reservation. My deal today was 3 Star hotel for $54/night in (North) Fort Collins, CO. After paying I am booked in a Best Western that has only a 2 1/2 star rating and is located on a very busy, freeway type street in an industrial area of Fort Collins with a trailer park right next to it. If I had booked this hotel without the unpublished deal, I would have payed $70 a night. I called Expedia and told them that I was promised a 3 star hotel and got a 2 1/2 star hotel. Expedia offered me a $25 off coupon (to be used within a year) for my next hotel reservation. I really wanted to cancel the reservation because they made the mistake, but they said that the unpublished deals are none-refundable and cannot be changed even though I believe giving me less than promised is fraud. In the end I accepted a $50 off coupon (to be used within a year) for my next hotel reservation on Expedia.com. I will still have to stay in the ok hotel in an industrial area with a trailer park next to the hotel or blow off $187.
I have more than 10 years using Expedia and I've booked hundreds of hotels and air tickets without having major issues. I was surprised reading so many bad reviews about them. Just 3 days ago I booked 5 rooms for a couple of friends in a Puerto plata hotel in the DR and everything was as it should be.
I'm a gold member because of the activity of my account but the time I've face any issues I've been able to call and get response.
It is true their customer service is bad and they keep you on the phone like forever.
The other thing they are very bad at is just honoring the BPG. I used to get good amount of money from them on BPG as well as 50 dollars in coupons for every booking I made with them if I could find a best price on another platform. They just discontinued this practice.
They also used to grant 100 dollars for certain amount of bookings but all those perks don't exist anymore.
To be honest after reading the bad reviews I doubted about making my last booking but one thing I did was calling the hotel to verify my booking
I booked a trip through Expedia to Punta Cana. When I arrived at Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana it was run down and below my standards. I wanted to upgrade (and willing to pay more) to a newer hotel within the Dreams chain. Dreams said I had to make the change through Expedia. I called Expedia for assistance. I was put on hold 3 times for at least 10 minutes each time. I was hung up on after being transferred 3 times. Finally, when I started to yell at the customer service rep he stayed on the phone with me. He said he kept trying to call Dreams and they were hanging up on him. He said there was no availability at the Dreams I wanted. Even though a Dreams rep said there was. So I asked him to find me any other hotel that was newer than the one I was staying at. He said his system would only find hotels that were within 5 miles of my existing hotel. He said his computer was running slow. He just kept giving one excuse after another. I was so frustrated with him because I was on the phone with him for an hour and he was not finding a hotel for me. I had spent a total of 2 hours trying to get Expedia to help transfer hotels. After 2 hours of trying to work with them on the phone and getting nowhere and excuse after excuse. I finally gave up. I will never book my travel through Expedia.
Expedia is very unreliable and if you have to book through one of these online travel agencies, I'd recommend Travelocity. I booked a hotel room in NYC back around March for a weekend in October. I was told by Expedia that the rooms were booked, given a confirmation number, and given reminder emails leading up to the date. Well I get to the hotel and it turns out that due to a booking error Expedia never actually booked my room! So I arrived at the hotel around 11:30 PM just ready to crash, had an absolute panic attack, and scrambled to find something nearby before midnight or else I'd have no where to go until 3 PM the next day. I ended up paying more for this backup hotel, a hotel which was of lesser comfort, than my original booking. When I reached out to Expedia I asked for a voucher or credit to restore my faith in their abilities and as a show of care for their customers they said no because I hadn't been charged by the original hotel. So no foul right? Wrong! To me this shows how very little they care about their customers and it shows how flawed their booking system is. I used them because they're supposed to be reliable and make bookings easier, but instead they left me high and dry and in a state of panic.
TLDR don't trust Expedia to have your back even when they're the ones at fault
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
Expedia has a rating of 2.8 stars from 1,604 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Expedia most frequently mention customer service, credit card and next day. Expedia ranks 15th among Travel Search Engine sites.
