My favorite site to go to when I need to book travel arrangements or look up prices. Other ones are fine, but this one just seems the easiest to navigate and I usually do find the best rates available.
When you don't have time to look at each airline go to expedia and they help you with a list and they also contact you if the price goes down before you fly. I had to update this review sorry everyone but I tried to get a flight to Hobby airport in Texas and they have nothing yet I flew into that airport before. So I am giving it 3 stars instead of 5.
I booked a weekend get away fro my boyfriends birthday this weekend and my flight changed without notification. No one was willing to work with me or accommodate me! Very poor service. Very unsatisfied and will never use this service again.
When calling the hotel to let them know we were going to be a little late they informed us that we did not have a room at all and that expedia should never have booked the room. After being on the phone for 45 minutes and our vacation being ruined they tried to give me a $75 credit for my next booking. Unprofessional &. Inconsiderate.
I booked a flight with Expedia in February 2020, for October 2020. The flight was cancelled by the airline, so in line with EU rules (Reg. 261/2004, applicable for that case) I have a right to full refund, which I of course requested.
For over a year now I hear from Expedia lies and excuses, amounting to "No can do, f**k off, we are sorry for your frustration". Despite the fact that the airline accepts the refund needs to be made (!), but since my contract is with Expedia, and Expedia's with the airline, the airline may not refund me directly.
Expedia of course does not care about its clients, and either can not bother to get the refund and pass it to me, or (as I suspect) actually got my money and tries to keep it.
Avoid Expedia at all costs, it will save you a lot of money, time and frustration! Look at its score on Trustpilot, by far the lowest of all Onine Travel Agencies!

Booked a flight, purchased the 'travel protection' and then had to cancel 4 days before the flight. Turns out the 'travel protection' is actually a narrowly defined 'travel insurance' without any eligibility for a refund of the fair. This is a deceptive and predatory business practice. To add insult to injury neither Expedia or AIG Travel Guard (the Insurance Co) have adequately trained staff to clearly navigate this issue and provide any level of acceptable service. Truly a disappointment from organization that projects itself as a market leader.
Booked honeymoon through Expedia. Everything seemed ok until the flight home. First class got changed to last row in the plane. No refund from Expedia. They said it's the airlines fault. Airline says Expedia fault. Out time 4 hours on the phone trying to resolve. And no refund. Stay away far far away unless you like throwing away your money
I hope this prevents Expedia from taking advantage of another consumer and should be investigate by the government for corruption.
I purchased an airline ticket that clearly stated an upgrade to economy plus for an additional fee. After purchasing and having the reservation processed, the upgrade did not appear. After calling their unprofessional customer service to correct the issue within minutes of the purchase transaction. They notified me that they gave me an economy upgrade. What in the world is an economy upgrade when I clearly clicked on economy plus. I was then told that it's not there fault that their website or process did not process what I purchased. Instead, I was told the only solution was to cancel my ticket and they would purchase a new one after the penalties have been applied.
This is a standard "Bait and Switch" if I have ever seen one. I hope no one uses this company again.
I've used Expedia many times for hotel rooms from Florida to Toronto Canada and always had a good experience. I was booking rooms on route to my destinations and they always came threw. I tried Trivago once and had a horrible experience. I saw a advertisement and I figured I would try them. Big mistake. If it's not broke don't look anywhere else. I learned the hard way.
I reserved a car rental through Expedia only to reach the location on the confirmation and it was closed. I paid $25 to return to the airport to a new "pick up" location. I then had to re tell my story to 3 different Expedia representatives till I finally spoke to someone who can assist me and he offered me a refund for the over charge because my location changed and it still hasn't been processed. Call after call to different people on the phone and no one can help because nothing is logged in my itinerary. HORRIBLE.
We purchased airline tickets, upgrading to business class for the "refundable ticket" aspect. We decided not to go on the trip, and Expedia decided that they would only give us credit for a future flight. BAIT AND SWITCH! The person on the text then said they would call in 24 to 48 hours with a supervisor's decision, goodbye. We would be leaving for the airport at the 48 hour mark, so I called them back after 36 hours of no call, and have been on this call for 53 minutes so far, and am on hold right now. Don't use this site, or use at your own peril.
I used this site to get affordable flight prices a while ago. Expedia made it very easy to choose which flight I wanted at a decent price. Everything from booking to checking in proved to be almost effortless. The only downside was that the connecting flight was pretty small and the seats were all the way in the back row, near the bathroom. Other than that, I'm glad I chose Expedia.
We've used Expedia for family holiday package and then just for flights or hotels. Our experience with holiday packages is that there always seems to be details lacking, customer service doesn't seem to know what is going on when I have called a few times and the package isn't always as advertised.
Now booking just flights or hotels, I have never had a problem. Probably because these are the easiest bookings and I have never needed to call into customer service for this.
Expedia has a reputation of reliability. My experience is that you reliably pay more. They entice you by giving you points and you think that means something. It doesn't.
I was just looking at a hotel. Almost all the rates, including the hotel's, said the room was $104. I went on Expedia and when I identified myself as an Expedia member suddenly the rate went to $106 - and that was after using 229 Expedia points. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.
Takes an hour on the phone to talk to 3 people, none of which can help. I'm out $700 because the car rental company didn't have the right type of vehicle. They claim that they need confirmation from the car rental company in order to move forward with the refund and then keep forwarding me on to their "supervisor". Worst CS ever.
They never answered the phone, even the hotel policy said something they didn't do anything to resolve the problem. After 5 months of communication the just give me a voucher for the same hotel I was trying to change. Once they have your money forget about it because there's no way you will have your money back or even a good service.
I tried expedia to book a hotel room in Bali and the company was not helpful in keeping the reservation or working with you if you needed to cancel the reservation because of events beyond your control, I would recommend booking with expedia on international booking, flights and hotels because you will lose all your money
I have used Expedia twice in recent months for flights to both Orlando and San Francisco. I am confident that the prices I found my flights for were the lowest available to me via the Internet.
Additionally, I had to change my flight home through United Airlines directly and was worried about receiving flak using a third party. However, it was handled accordingly
Just came back from a 'vacation' from Jamaica but after months of looking forward to the trip, all I did was complain since Expedia mislead me on my 'vacation package' which ended up costing me a fortune! I could have easily gone to a MUCH nicer hotel, better location for the money they charged me. I have been a faithful customer for many years, but that is changing! Highly recommend you get everything confirmed, and then reconfirmed because when you have an issue, they will NOT be there to help you.
We booked flights, car rental and hotel for a trip to England using Expedia. Expedia sent conformation that everything was booked and paid for but we found out the day before the flight during the online check in process, that the flights were not paid for. The car rental and hotel were, but not the flights. If you use Expedia, I'd recommend double checking everything they do as there is a possibility they may not take care of everything even if they say they have. My recommendation would be to use another travel site or book directly with the airlines
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
Expedia has a rating of 2.1 stars from 1,603 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Expedia most frequently mention customer service, credit card and next day. Expedia ranks 203rd among Travel Search Engine sites.
